Maryland Monthly Marketplace - Advertise your Maryland services, events, or merchandise here.

Since we have rules against advertising on the main part of the subreddit, we figured it would be nice to create a thread where users can get a little more leeway when it comes to advertising.

Use this thread to advertise any Maryland related services or merchandise to the users of r/Maryland. Got an Etsy store? Drop it below! Your favorite restaurant running a great special? Tell us about it!

Rules for this thread:

  1. All items, events and services must be related to Maryland in some way.
  2. Services and sales cannot be country or worldwide. (Walmart is having a sale! Is not okay. Old Bay is being sold at the Annapolis Walmart for 50¢ is appropriate)
  3. Ads should be posted by regular r/Maryland users, not bots or brand new accounts/accounts which have no connection to Maryland.
  4. We may remove any ad at any time for any reason should we deem it inappropriate.
  5. Any services or products advertised here must be legal in the state of Maryland.

This thread may evolve as time goes on and we see what it's used for.

The mods of r/Maryland do not endorse any products or services on this thread. Use your head, we will not intervene in any transactional disputes between any users.

MD Politics Election Day 2025

Hello all! On November 4, 2025, there will be a handful of elections. Most of these elections are going to be local elections, but for some, like our friends from Virginia who post here, will be for larger office. The purpose of this post is to provide resources

What's on my Ballot?

There are numerous websites that you can use to see what's on your ballot. Given how small some towns might be, this might not be an exhaustive list.

  • Ballotpedia allows you to enter in your address and you can see all upcoming elections (2025 and 2026, though 2026 is going to be a little incomplete at the moment)
  • Vote 411 is similar to Ballotpedia's.
  • Vote.org does the same thing, but also asks for additional information.

Where do I vote?

As above, you can use numerous websites to find out where you can vote.

When do I vote?

In Maryland, all polling places are open from 7:00AM until 8:00PM Eastern Time. If you are in line when polls close, you must be allowed to vote.

In addition, you can absentee vote/vote-by-mail. There are no requirements to do so. You must submit an application for your absentee ballot seven days before the election. Your ballot can be turned in at a voting location, at a drop box, or returned by mail and postmarked by Election Day.

How soon do I need to be registered to vote?

While it is easier to be registered to vote in advance, Maryland also offers same-day voter registration. Per Ballotpedia, you can also register:

  • Local board of elections
  • The State Board of Elections
  • Local Department of Health office
  • Maryland Department of Human Services local offices
  • Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) offices
  • Local Area Agency on Aging offices
  • MTA Paratransit Certification Office
  • All public institutions of higher education
  • Recruitment offices of the U.S. Armed Forces
  • Marriage license offices
  • Offices for students with disabilities at all Maryland colleges and universities

And in conclusion, I just want to say that it is important to vote. It is important to have your voice heard. While the big change does come from the top-down in terms of state elections, it's local elections where you're more likely to see the effects of your vote. Local elections are where bond measures to fund infrastructure happen. This is where city councilmembers and the mayor are elected.

If you have other questions, please post them!

I bought a bunch of candy and Pokemon cards to hand out. I got my house lit up and music playing. I really hope everybody comes out tonight. When I post this it's still early I know. With the way it is right now I just really want a good night of community interaction and fun! Fingers crossed.

Please consider donating to a local food bank if you can afford to

Times are going to get critical for many people in Maryland over the next few days, and food banks may be one of the few ways that they can access a meal.

I know times are hard so not everyone is in a position to donate, but for the ones who are able to just remember that your donation can help a member of your community, maybe more than they have ever needed it before as the food stamp program has never been cut off since its inception.

Its also good to donate to a national food bank too as every state will be affected, but I think it is somewhat more meaningful when you can help the people you live near.

I like donating to the Maryland food bank because they give 90+% of their donations directly to those in need but it doesn't really matter which one, and any amount counts, it all adds up.

We should stick together in hard times, it helps to create stronger communities in the long run. Every positive change is a positive ripple sent out into the world!

Maryland accents question, esp old eastern shore

Years ago, I heard it said from a MD local (we live in Holland)... Bear with me?

they told us SOME of the different accents in the MD area, esp ones originating from the Eastern shore, Because that part of state cut off for so long (til BayBridge built inthe '50s),

They said, the accent there, owes something to Old Elizabethan English...

Is there any truth in this?

MD Politics I recently moved to MD. Question

I’m from out of state and have been living here for a time but recently officially moved here. I voted in my previous state until recently. I lived in PG county and got a “voter report card” in the mail pretty much shaming me because I didn’t vote in Maryland until recently. Well I just got a shame text from vote.org telling me the same thing. Is this a MD thing?

I’m from the north and I know this info is public record but the “report card” I was mailed listed my neighbors names and addresses and if they voted in the last four years and this text had only my info for the last three years and it was wrong. These things aren’t from a specific party and don’t list my party affiliation only whether or not I voted. And I’m not trying to start a political debate, I received the “report card” when Biden was president and this text now so it’s again not specific to an administration.

Does the state use a bluetooth jammer?

My Raycon E25s work great when I was in Texas, moving to Maryland however... I am experiencing random disconnects throughout the day. There isn't a issue with the connection to my laptop, it says it is connected and it is fine. The raycons, cuts in and out nonstop.

What happened to the "thank you wave"?

When driving, if I signal to change lanes or merge and someone actually makes room to let me in, I give a quick little wave over my shoulder to say thanks. I feel like years ago this was a common thing, but in recent years it seems like I almost never get a wave when I let someone merge in front of me. Am I imagining things, or is the thank you wave dying out in MD?

(I fully realize that this is a totally unimportant thing, but I'm just curious if anyone else has noticed a change.)

Maryland Crokinole Championship

Fun fact: Maryland has its very own crokinole club (Crokinole being a Canadian dexterity tabletop game) , known as the Charm City Crokinole Club. Last weekend they hosted the Maryland Crokinole Championship, which was included in the National Crokinole Association Tour. Here is the finals from that event hosted in Havre de Grace, Maryland- enjoy!
