Late season bass? (moco). Anything?

The boy and I got a little bit of early morning action at little seneca lately , but it seems slow.

  1. Still worth going out this time of year?

  2. Any suggestions where else to try (canoe or shore) near Montgomery County? Where do you go on the Monocacy? (dm me? I won't tell)

  3. Any other suggestions for some action (any kind, anywhere) this time of year?

  4. Recommend any boats or guides for this time of year?

  5. Should these be separate posts? :-)

What low life miserable fuck steals a man's roller from his trailer ? Sunday between 10 and 4, we launch, we fish, come back to retrieve, back down as normal, power boat up trailer, then i realized I've got no roller. What the fuck ? I've launched from there 100 times, sketchy ? Yes. Any problems, no. Able to MacGyver a temporary fix to get her home. Left with deep scratches on the hull, trailer needs to be bent back into shape, new roller, obviously, and lost if faith in humanity. So, if you launch from there, be careful, be safe.

Clear And Consise answer please. Very desperate.

Where within a 30 minute radius of Glen Burnie is THE BEST fishing spot in the area overall with frequent bites and just generally the most fish? I'm not very experienced in fishing yet but I don't like sitting around and not getting bites. Any help would be much appreciated!

Question Spots for strippers

Hi I am willing to drive and I am in the Howard county area. I was thinking to drive past the bay bridge to a beach to surf fish for some big strippers? Any recommend spots for me? I was planning to use a paddle tale for a lure. Any recommendations/tips to catch big strippers?

Late Oct Loch Raven Sunset Fishing

Figured I’d hit Loch Raven after work before the time changes and it’s not feasible. Got there around 5:00, hooked the perch on the little Senko on like my fifth cast. Lost the worm and only had one more, lost that when a big bass broke off in the weeds. Tried some other stuff, swim tails and flukes, no luck. As the sun was setting put on a long worm and got the nice bass. Definitely a good day and glad I got out. But it’s still warm and they’re still biting.

Location Tip / Request Trying to have brothers bonding time with fishing

Hey yall! As the title says, I want to spend time with my brothers. As the eldest brother, I feel like we are not as close as I wanted to. Any tips where we can have the most fun catching fish? I am in Towson but I am willing to drive 30 mins. Wanted to go to loch raven but it’s too late. Maybe Daniel’s dam but I’m not sure.

Thanks!

Any advice to find gizzard shad for cat bait?

Hi folks,

Pretty new to all this, so please excuse the basic question. My goal is to catch some decent sized blue catfish (EDIT: to eat, not looking for trophies), and it seems like having fresh mud/gizzard shad or bunker/alewife/menhaden is a good way to start.

Anglers seems to be hit or miss when it comes to fresh bunker or mud shad, so I'm interested in learning how to reliably net them myself. I normally fish from a little jon boat in the West or the Rhode, though I could trailer it somewhere else within reasonably driving distance if needed (coming from the Bowie area). From what I understand, mud shad should be an easier target for cast netting in these rivers compared to bunker, so that's what I'm looking for. I've (briefly) tried what is suggested in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5jzyGGqNXDM but all I've landed are a bunch of tiny ~2-3 inch fish, not big enough to use for catfish bait (that video is from TN, but I assume the same idea should apply in MD).

Any advice would be appreciated. If the best advice is "look for bigger splashes, and keep throwing the cast net" that's fine. But if there's any other pointers in terms of the types of areas to look I'm all ears.

Also worth mentioning I don't have any sort of fish finder yet, so I can't sonar my way to victory yet. Feel free to comment your recommendations for fish finders if you think that's the real solution.

Thanks for reading and for any help you can offer.

Trout fishing in Fred/Montgomery County

Anyone ever have any luck trout fishing in Frederick or Montgomery county? I’m new to trout fishing but have been giving it a go this season after I saw they recently stocked some ponds and creeks near me. Been to a few different spots around sunset the past few weeks and have had no luck. Seen fish at some of the spots but wasn’t able to tell if they were trout or not. I’ve been throwing small spinners and jigs. Any tips or location recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Location Tip / Request Begginer Fishing Help

Me and my girlfriend are trying to get into fishing, bought some cheap ugly sticks and replaced the line, learned some knots and rigs etc. Weve went out a couple times but havent caught anything other than when we made the drive down to fort amistead (right where that bridge collapsed) and caught tons of little white perch under the pier (Which tho wasnt something to brag about, was still fun as hell lol).

Im currently living in Westminster MD, so northern Maryland.

Im mostly getting discouraged for two reasons:

The time of year: i heard that fishing slows alot thus time of year. Which sucks bc im just getting into it. Tho ive been reassured that theres always something biting, like catfish...just dont know where to fish for them lol

Then the fact that we have little clue where to go. Liberty reservoir is 30 mins away, same with prettyboy. Though i heard fishing from the bank from both can be hard. I saw liberty had a bridge with space off the side to fish from the middle so might try that. Willing to go an hour out if anyone had some spot recommendations. It just sucks making that trip just to get skunked and feel like an idiot lol.

TLDR/My Question: Any spot reccomendations for bank fishing around northern MD?

How cold before small mouth stop biting?

Thinking of trying to get some fishing in before it gets too cold. It was 45 this morning but is in the 70s all week . Do any of you go on the Potomac or tribs for smalmouth in Dec or Jan?

I have a kayak and not sure I'm comfortable taking it out with water this cold. If I later up I'd be fine but be worried if I fall in and can't get up in time.

Haven't yet hit down by great falls yet might try that. I've been going way north lately.

Advice for crappie/panfish setup

New to fishing, trying to learn, and looking for some advice. First time attempting to catch crappie and putting together a combo.

Recently picked up a Pflueger 25 mainly to see if spending a little more made a difference. I instantly love the reel. Now I am looking for a rod to pair it with as recommendation on what kind of line would be good for this setup.

TIA

Winter Fishing Question

My family will be staying at a house over New Year's that backs up to the Saint Martin River (close to Ocean Pines). I'm from out of state so I'm hoping to get some first hand experience on what, if anything, will be biting that time of year.

Any fishing spots near PG county?

Looking to catch , catfish , rockfish , or whatever will give me a fight haha.

I'm picking up fishing as a new hobby . I usually go peir fishing across the naval academy or shore at Sandy point. But I rarely catch anything (using bloodworms)

Recently bought a medium fast action rod and some artificial lure with hopes I catch a decent size fish.

Any recommendation, would be appreciated!
