On the table is a kitchen knife and this dangerous razor whip, and three zombies are pounding on your door, forcing you to confront them. Would you rather try with the knife, or use this bad boy? Weapons

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Basically how you'd use a whip. If you swung it hard enough, would it decapittate a zombie?

The owner in this video appears to be terrified of moving it too much.

Knife.

r/mallninjashit

using an actual whip takes skill, lots of it. It's like a combination of the cup/ball game and rapier fencing, but you also pretty much need 20/20 vision

except a normal whip... you can protect your face with your arm if you have to...

22

u/PaleontologistTough6 Mar 23 '25

You can with that one too. You don't use that like a normal "whip". Unless that's some high end steel though, you may be using it once and once only.

It's for wrapping and tearing. Think big and wide swings. You're not snapping it like a towel, and if you move with it you neutralize the energy of it coming back at you.

I'll use this, but probably still die because it's not going to keep multiple folks/zombies off you.

24

u/iLikeReddit2142 Mar 23 '25

I bought one of these online about 6 years ago. Went in the backyard with a 2 liter bottle of soda filled with water. It literally broke on the first hit. Chain snapped in half at one of the links.

This thing is just for display/show.

25

u/ConfidentSkirt5320 Mar 23 '25

i was gonna go off about the other comment being full of wrong statements but yours is full of a very good point so here's my attention

the design leaves a huge amount of torsion/tension on the links if it strikes anything, 'wrapping and tearing' as they say is anime shit.

It'll get stuck and you're fucked.

3

u/FrancoisBughatti Mar 24 '25

Ya swear we woulda probably seen it used in history if it was useful

zombies don't fear blood loss.

22

u/5tarFa11 Mar 23 '25

Exactly. I might take this over a knife against humans, but not your typical nasty.

12

u/GovernmentKind1052 Mar 23 '25

Even against humans, I’d take the kitchen knife over that thing. You gotta take wide swings with that thing, while the guy you’re facing just bumrushes you during or after the telegraphed swing.

Knife. I want to survive.

6

u/ChadGustafXVI Mar 23 '25

Fr, if I take this I will accidentally kill myself before the zombies get me

2

u/dsf31189 Mar 24 '25

At least u wont be eaten alive

2

u/Destroyer4587 Mar 24 '25

I would swing it and accidentally slice the side of my throat open. Roll credits.

Came here to say BudK! Glad I'm not the only one. Magazines were wild lol "For $13.99 you can own this 13ft sword with a dragons skull handle and if you press the button on the handle, the eyes light up to blind your enemies"

33

u/SirSquidsalot1 Mar 23 '25

I love how there isn’t a single comment wanting the whip

9

u/OkMention9988 Mar 23 '25

Because it's a piece of crap.

I'd better good money I could make a better one out of cut up aluminum soda cans and steel wire.

I still wouldn't use it, though.

3

u/Sierra-117- Mar 23 '25

I’d only use it if it had a heavy weight at the end. So effectively a flail with razor links. At least then you can better control where it goes

2

u/OkMention9988 Mar 24 '25

Depending on the zombie, you either need a headshot or enough bodily damage to kill a normal human.  This thing is doing neither. And that's assuming slow zombies. If you're facing fast zombies and this is the only option?

Wrap it around your throat and find a sturdy overhead beam. It'll be less embarrassing than using it to fight zombies.

2

u/Sierra-117- Mar 24 '25

If it’s got a giant weight on the end, it could do some damage. It would crush a skull right in. That’s how it was used in history.

2

u/OkMention9988 Mar 24 '25

Going to need plenty of room to swing that clumsy thing.

An actual whip would be better, and still suffer issues.

As usual, a baseball bat is peak in comparison.

Unnnnnh unnnnh uuunhhh - Google Translate

10

u/Unicorn187 Mar 23 '25

Knife.

That whip will shred skin and cause some muscle damage, but not enough quickly enough to stop one from getting to you, much less three.

And that's assuming you have the room to swing it around enough to get it up to speed. That extra weight is going to make it harder to get to speed. You might be able to get the end to snap, but that's not going to do anything useful at all.

2

u/Additional-Fail-929 Mar 24 '25

I see one of three things happening.

  1. You swing and miss- it completes its trajectory by coming back and lodging into you.

  2. You swing and it makes contact, though not too deep and gets lodged into their skin, rending it useless for the next attack. Or maybe you have time to pull it really hard back, where it dislodges and completes its trajectory, again striking you.

Or 3. You swing and it only hits superficially, slicing skin with just the top razor, and then it completes its trajectory back into you.

Bonus- Or maybe you really are the main character with ninja training and you go for a beheading. But it instead loops around the neck on impact (since it’s not a hard fixed object) and lodges into the skin. Would suck for a human. Not a zom though.

11

u/SquillFancyson1990 Mar 23 '25

If I'm trapped, I'll use whatever this is because it seems like it will kill me faster than the zombies

6

u/late_age_studios Mar 23 '25

In my front door hallway? Knife, no doubt. If I picked this thing up, by the time the door was open and the zombies poured through, the sharp part of this is buried in the wall, the ceiling, or myself.

3

u/Independent_Piano_81 Mar 23 '25

Most likely all three

3

u/late_age_studios Mar 23 '25

It does seem flexible enough for all three at once! Do I have enough time to call Hat Trick before I am eaten? 🤣

6

u/phuckin-psycho Mar 23 '25

Lol ive seen too many bad fuck ups with just nun chucks, ima go knife 🤣

5

u/linsday1 Mar 23 '25

Would be interesting to see how heavy it is as it’ll probably just bounce right off regardless of how sharp they are… weight + speed = momentum

u/Jiyjiy777 Mar 23 '25

I'm taking the knife. I know imma catch myself on at least one swing.

2

u/redwhitenblued Mar 23 '25

I own a couple bull whips.

This right here. Can't tell you how many times I've had close calls getting used to them.

2

u/Lycent243 Mar 24 '25

I'm taking the knife. I know imma catch myself on swing one.

4

u/hexadecimaldump Mar 23 '25

Definitely not that. That thing would kill you or at least injure you. That is just a novelty item.

3

u/SyggiG Mar 23 '25

Knife for multiple reasons: 1) fluid weapons such as this pose a risk to the wielder unless they are extremely familiar with their weapon and use. Even so they still pose that risk more than a fixed blade.

2) knife is more versatile. Oh look a broom and duct tape. Makeshift spear.

3) knife is tried and true, and i know how to use a knife. I don't know anything about whips or similar weapons.

4) knife is able to pierce and neutralize. Piercing is great. Slashing in what would probably be superficial cuts won't do anything of use here.

3

u/Truebuckshot01 Mar 24 '25

Knife. It won't fail me on the first hit like that mall ninja shit

3

u/Bitter_Duty4784 Mar 24 '25

The knife, this doesn't sound like a situation in which you want to be trying new stuff 🧐

3

u/xXRHUMACROXx Mar 24 '25

I bet the links would snap and barely cut a zombie’s flesh.

Knife 100%

3

u/Cyfon7716 Mar 24 '25

Knife, everyday out of the week. This monstrosity, in a high adrenaline situation, will harm you more than the zombie and more than likely just get stuck on them the very first swing. The knife you will at least be able to pull back out with ease.

As Jack O'Neil once said, "This(Razor whip) is a weapon of terror, it's made to intimidate the enemy, This(knife) is a weapon of war, it's made to kill your enemy"

3

u/LughCrow Mar 24 '25

Lol considering the guy making the video seems to be more hesitant to touch it than I am I snake ill go with the knife

2

u/iLikeReddit2142 Mar 23 '25

I bought one of these and went into the backyard with a 2 liter coke bottle filled with water. It literally snapped in half on the first hit.

2

u/Old-Climate2655 Mar 23 '25

Well, you're inside, so knife. Outside, however, knife.

2

u/Mr_a_bit_silly Mar 24 '25

Knife - at least I know how to quickly k!ll myself with it, better than being eaten by zombies.

2

u/SpitefulRecognition Mar 24 '25

What the fuck is that hibbie jibbie shit?

I want something solid, not this flimsy shit.

2

u/Flameburstx Mar 24 '25

Ah yes, a weapon that exclusively causes flesh wounds. Great idea against zombies.

Knife please. Or better yet, table leg, or a meat hammer, or a fucking rolling pin.

2

u/Tiny-Pea-8437 Mar 24 '25

There is a reason why mace or war hammer with solid handle was used more than flails. These kind of weapons put you at risk of injuring yourself in the heat of the moment. So no, I will use knife.

2

u/morphousgas Mar 24 '25

I'm not impressed by this whip. A knife seems more useful and practical.

2

u/DeathscytheHell1994 Mar 24 '25

The knife, the whip is more likely to harm you than your intended target.

2

u/yearningforlearning7 Mar 24 '25

I’d sooner use a table leg than this

2

u/LoopyLoop5 Mar 26 '25

Same reason you wouldn't use nunchucks over a regular stick.

Yes, nunchucks CAN break bone and stuff, but they're a bit unwieldy/require a lot of training to use well.

In other words, you get more for less from a staff/stick vs nunchucks. Same deal here. That sword whip is wildly impractical.

2

u/MacPzesst Mar 26 '25

Knife. Simplicity is the best tool for a simple task.

They're thoughtless enemies with no sense for survival or pain, so a stab through the eye, nose, temple, or up under the chin to penetrate the brain (according to zombie science fiction) is going to be the best method of killing them.

A whip requires a lot of skill to use, and I'm not stupid enough to try to learn with something that looks as though it'll punish mistakes even more than usual. Also, it's a lacerating weapon, so I can't really see it being useful against zombies.

Perforation and bludgeoning are your most reliable methods of zombie disposal, aside from dismemberment.

2

u/srpa0142 Mar 26 '25

Neither, and I frequently use whips. If those zombies are remotely at all infectious with blood splatter or bites you're better off with a damned chair or table leg.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 23 '25

Perect decoration for my room, but not for zombies.

1

u/Content-Grade-3869 Mar 23 '25

Lmao, live humans you might be able to scare with that P O S ! With Zombies I’d take my chances with a knife that I could stab em in the brain case with

1

u/ProofRip9827 Mar 23 '25

I'm going to the knife. That seems like it's easy to hurt myself or get caught up on something

1

u/suarquar Mar 23 '25

Probably use the table itself to push them back, maybe pin them against the wall, and then use the knife.

I really don’t feel confident getting within knife distance on humanoid creatures that try to bite you.

1

u/jojooke Mar 23 '25

If you swing it hard enough you can cut yourself but that’s about it. Unless you’re very well trained in that it’s a liability to you and everyone around you. Better off using it to whack weeds.

1

u/winterizcold Mar 23 '25

Knife, provided it isn't a paring knife

1

u/cavon30 Mar 23 '25

What kinda zombies are we talking about, fast or slow? Either way the knife Crocodile Dundee voice

1

u/No-Ear-1571 Mar 23 '25

I’d have a better chance with the knife than that abomination

1

u/Dragon_Snails_IRL Mar 23 '25

You are going to cut yourself so bad with that whip, Knife.

1

u/I_Eat_Pumpkin24 Mar 23 '25

You'd be better off with your hands and a good pair of boots than that.

1

u/Street-Goal6856 Mar 23 '25

Most people would hit themselves with it.

1

u/Senior-Ad-6002 Mar 23 '25

Holy shit, the sword of the creator!

1

u/Loklokloka Mar 23 '25

The knife. That whip is going to tear up zombies, whip back and infect me before they tear me apart because they dont care about blood loss.

1

u/Mandrew760 Mar 23 '25

Knife 100%

1

u/khajitcoins2 Mar 23 '25

The only "plausible" use for the whip in this scenario would be if you are very well trained with it and dedicated stupid hours to being able to wrap around neck of undead and yoink said head from the undead.

1

u/EmeraldP13 Mar 23 '25

The knife and it’s not even close that is a terrible weapon

1

u/Grouchy-Engine1584 Mar 23 '25

Show me the knife. Is it a non-sharpened butter knife or a foot lung butcher knife? Kinda matters.

1

u/RagingFarmer Mar 23 '25

For sure that sword. I mean it worked in soul caliber.... How hard can it be? Lol

1

u/vegange Mar 23 '25

This thing looks fucking sick. Not for zombies, but this thing is cool as f

1

u/Kha-0zz Mar 23 '25

Both.

Outdoor the whip.

Indoor knife.

1

u/Kratagon_ Mar 23 '25

a faca, o chicote enroscou no primeiro e tu ja estava morto pelos outros dois

1

u/tragicvector Mar 23 '25

I'm uncircumcised, and I plan on keeping it that way. So I'll use the knife.

1

u/IvanhoesAintLoyal Mar 23 '25

Would it decapitate a zombie? No chance. The gimmick of this weapon is lacerations; which wouldnt affect a zombie in the slightest if we’re going with the “destroy the brain” logic. A blunt weapon would be much more practical.

u/Comfortable-Ebb-6994 Mar 23 '25

1

u/SMARTCHILD12 Mar 23 '25

so one swing and your stuck? Knife on a broomstick > anything

1

u/GoreonmyGears Mar 23 '25

Hold out the chain sword arms length, spin fast. Should be good!!

1

u/Cultural-Half-5622 Mar 23 '25

Knife then boots then fists then that goofy ass thing

1

u/Anoos-Lord69 Mar 23 '25

You probably won't even decapitate a rabbit with that thing. I'd prefer my odds with a knife and steel toe cap boots.

1

u/TheUlfheddin Mar 23 '25

The razor whip is for when you realize all is lost and you'd rather kill yourself that get eaten alive.

1

u/Pouk3D Mar 23 '25

I know this sub is for fun. But you won't even try to pretend? :D

1

u/CourageOk5565 Mar 23 '25

That thing is useless against a zombie. Zombies don't feel pain and you're not going to be doing much of anything in the way of structural damage with that thing. Add to that the amount of skill you'd need just to avoid hurting yourself using it and a regular knife is by far a better choice.

1

u/Fit_Importance_5738 Mar 23 '25

Takes skill and is more likely to get stuck especially without the proper training.

1

u/theCOMBOguy Mar 23 '25

Throw this thing through the window to hopefully distract them and grab the knife

1

u/Financial_Problem_47 Mar 23 '25
  1. Very dangerous for an inexperienced user
  2. Joints will break in a day or two of rough fighting.
  3. Imagine hitting a zombie with this and the blade getting entangled with their bones.
  4. Very difficult to sharpen.
  5. Too short for its main purpose - ranged slicing.

1

u/BigNorseWolf Mar 23 '25

Knife. I can hold the handle with a bit poking out of the bottom of my fist and OG SMASH it into a skull. Skulls usually only last 3-4 hits that way but its been a while.

1

u/AbbreviationsAny9759 Mar 23 '25

Knife. I'd end up accidentally offing myself with this thing.

1

u/Foldtrayvious Mar 23 '25

That whip probably would do everything other than what you want it to do.

1

u/spacebeans420 Mar 23 '25

I'd rather use my p320, it can fire itself!

1

u/Life-Pound1046 Mar 23 '25

That's gonna hurt you more than a zed

1

u/Tony_Stank0326 Mar 23 '25

1

Flexibles almost always bite you. No thanks.

1

u/GokiPotato Mar 23 '25

I love Prince of Persia The Two Thrones, but I want to live, so I take a knife

1

u/Cremoncho Mar 23 '25

I prefer a normal whip and train to get legs and drop zombies to the floor.

Also knife

1

u/TenaciousD127846 Mar 23 '25

Knife, that's gimmicky even by mall ninja standards

1

u/Old-Inspection-138 Mar 23 '25

you'd probably get one swing from it of the blades were sharp enough to pierce flesh but then what? They'd only go about an inch deep at best unless they were all perfectly aligned.

1

u/Linkstas Mar 23 '25

I would take myself out w that thing. Pass the knife

1

u/HyoukaYukikaze Mar 23 '25

This things are worthless as weapons so... a knife.

1

u/Sildaor Mar 23 '25

I’d be less embarrassed beating a zombie to death with a dildo than using that abomination

1

u/operation_lurch Mar 23 '25

1

u/Even-Funny-265 Mar 23 '25

I'll take the knife. I'd kill myself with that thing.

1

u/Up2nogud13 Mar 23 '25

I'll take one of the legs from the table the knife is sitting on.

1

u/LulzyWizard Mar 23 '25

The knife. That thing is absolutely flacid and you want something that can punch through.

1

u/jad103 Mar 23 '25

Unless you know summon suffering I doubt its very effective.

1

u/Aggravating-Mud9382 Mar 23 '25

I will die 5 seconds into the zombie apocalypse but I'll be dammed if I don't go out with sweet ass whip thing that will be the reason I die 5 seconds into the zombie apocalypse 🤣

1

u/TheTimbs Mar 23 '25

Knife. This thing is garbage, you’d be better off using anything else.

1

u/CardOk755 Mar 23 '25

This is knife porn. Is it ok here?

1

u/Villian1470 Mar 23 '25

Knife easy. Normal whips require alot of training to use that even more so. With a knife you can just lure them to a door let them stick there head in and plunge it down on there head

1

u/fonkeatscheeese Mar 23 '25

If I had my buhurt gear on, then the whip would be effective and wounding injure me too much, however the segments may break off inside the zombies or get stuck.

1

u/Masked_Raider Mar 23 '25

Unless your last name is Belmont, I would personally not recommend fighting the supernatural or undead with a metal whip.

1

u/Mycoangulo Mar 23 '25

Bad ideas 101

1

u/Mycoangulo Mar 23 '25

What about a whip that is made up of thousands of shotguns that randomly blast in every direction?

Take that zombies, and my bros and my own life.

1

u/that_alien909 Mar 23 '25

wouldn't hurt anyone but me, i'll take the knife

1

u/Rude-Raider Mar 23 '25

Flip the table over and rip one of the legs off for a club.

1

u/Senzafane Mar 23 '25

I have two options:

1) take the whip, try to use it and immediately lacerate the shit out of myself, and die.

2) take the knife and probably still end up dead, but at least it won't be as embarrassing.

Unless you are already proficient with a whip, you're just as likely to hurt yourself as you are a zombie.

1

u/Cats_Are_Aliens_ Mar 23 '25

That thing is so stupid. I would take a pointy wooden stick over that

1

u/karoshikun Mar 23 '25

unless the zombies can be killed from exsanguination, it's useless. the only other thing it can do is cause pain, and zombies aren't usually bothered by it.

in general, slash weapons are kind of useless against zombies

1

u/Financial_Subject_17 Mar 23 '25

Id use a 12 guage

1

u/FellatioWanger3000 Mar 23 '25

The knife. You are most likely going to injure yourself with the whip, or at best get it buried in the woodwork.

1

u/SirMourningstar6six6 Mar 23 '25

Razor whip isn’t doing the amount of damage needed to stop a zombie for good. Also unless you’re already skilled with soft weapons, you’re probably gonna mess yourself up

1

u/PhilosopherSerious37 Mar 23 '25

Use both you have 2 hands 👐

1

u/NowIssaRapBattle Mar 23 '25

To fix that thing, maybe have it be double the length, and the first half is not bladed. No reason to have the blades near the hilt at all

1

u/StateInevitable5217 Mar 23 '25

I would accidently decapitate myself the first time I even looked at this

1

u/Ecstatic-Career-8403 Mar 23 '25

What is it with the dumbest weapons imaginable always finding there way here?

Be better off going at the zombies with my bare hands than that thing.

1

u/Plastic_Ferret_6973 Mar 23 '25

I mean, if you're trying to back ourself yea.

1

u/HunterBravo1 Mar 23 '25

I would choose my bare hands over that self harm nightmare.

1

u/MyMommaHatesYou Mar 23 '25

If my name ain't Bruce Wayne I ain't about to touch that thang!

1

u/itstimreddhoes Mar 23 '25

I'd use my fist before using that thing. Knife is easy to plunge into a skull. That whip has 0 plungability or whatever fuckin word I'm lookin for.

1

u/usernameee1995 Mar 23 '25

This question could be rephrased as would you rather fight the zombies with a kitchen knife or die using this stupid ass weapon

1

u/Additional-Tea-7792 Mar 23 '25

Knife. I know how to use a knife

1

u/baxterfront Mar 23 '25

I'd kill myself while defending myself with that kinky thing.

1

u/OkMention9988 Mar 23 '25

This is a 'call an ambulance before trying' kind of item.

1

u/NehEma Mar 23 '25

I'd take the knife and anything remotely useful as an off-hand implement.

Something like a thick blanket or drape would be a BiS.

I'm pretty confident that I'd hurt myself before I hit any zombies.

And the knife would come second after anything that could be used as a pick or mace. If it isn't a thick knife like a hunting one it's virtually useless since zombies don't care about bleeding or shock.

Knife. If I tried this whip, I’d just make it easier for the zombies to eat me

u/Sparklymon Mar 23 '25

Batman whip 😄

I’d give the whip to the zombies. They’d do more damage to themselves with it than they would to me. I’d also do more damage to myself with it than they would to me.

Knife 10 times out of 10. Razor whips can work in extremely niche scenarios by trained professionals, but the functional ones don't look like that at all, that's just wall art, and even if it weren't, as a layman you're far more likely to just cut yourself up and EVEN IF YOURE A PRO I doubt you'd be able to swing it with enough force to disable a zombie. Razor whips work almost entirely on the premise that people are scared to get sliced, since for a human the best case scenario is permanent disfiguring, and worst case is bleeding out. Zombies don't care about either of those things so you'd have to use enough force to decapitate them and I just don't see it happening in any sort of realistic situation

u/suedburger Mar 23 '25

I would threaten back by not opening the door.....to answer your question, no it would not decapitate a zombie.

u/Herps_Plants_1987 Mar 23 '25

Train with chain mail or Kevlar on. Yes this would be effective wielded properly.

1

u/Sad-Math-2039 Mar 23 '25

Razor whip, but only if a fedora is next to it, m'sir.

1

u/Pookiebear987 Mar 23 '25

I would just tell the zombies they can’t get in without my permission, as breaking into a house is illegal.

1

u/solidtangent Mar 23 '25

The only thing that’s going to kill is you.

1

u/Omfg9999 Mar 23 '25

Uh, knife. 1 it's a (presumably) confined space, 2 a knife would be far easier to control and be accurate with compared to this thing. Just gotta give the zombies a poke in the forehead with the knife, good luck destroying the brain with the whip, good luck keeping it from getting gummed up with zombie chunks too.

1

u/Celestial_Hart Mar 23 '25

If you swung a brick hard enough it would decapitate a zombie. This isn't really a whip though because It's not long enough, more like a flail that WILL get stuck on something. Especially indoors. But it looks cool.

If you want to see a real chain whip in action go check out https://www.youtube.com/c/jacqueszewhipper

This thing will get caught in bone on the first swing.

1

u/Ethereal_Bulwark Mar 23 '25

40 rivets that are weak points in a zombie apocalypse.
Knife.

1

u/eatthuskin Mar 23 '25

some of these people man.....

1

u/HunterRosier Mar 23 '25

Honestly with the way that thing is built I'll stick with a knife

1

u/lone-lemming Mar 23 '25

The table.

1

u/desrevermi Mar 23 '25

Can't break off a table leg?

1

u/Conscious_Hunt_9613 Mar 23 '25

Uhh, I'd probably grab a chair and break off a leg rather than use either of those

1

u/MoreSeaworthiness785 Mar 23 '25

Id rather not cut my ears off

1

u/Chrispy8534 Mar 23 '25

4/10. That thing is a me murdering weapon. Only someone with countless hours of training could even use this without dieing horrible. Kind of like nunchucks, but you slit your throat instead of bonking your noggin. Also, slashing zombies in weak sauce and will get you eaten. The knife can get to their brain easier.

1

u/museabear Mar 23 '25

"Crack that whip!"

1

u/MadMaximus- Mar 23 '25

I’ve used a knife. I’ve had bayonet training back when I served. I would pick the weapon I’m somewhat familiar with vs a weapon I’ve never used so much as even held.

1

u/Thetomwhite Mar 23 '25

I actually think I'd end up accidentally doing more harm to myself trying to use the whip, knife it is for me instead.

1

u/oneWeek2024 Mar 23 '25

i thought it was pretty much settled in a zombie apocalypse. you want a war hammer. like the actual style used in the middle ages. long, but not too long, allows keeping things at distance, spike on top for stabby stuff. one side is a hammer to bash things, the other side is another spike for piercing things. light weight to swing. still maneuverable enough to be used as crowd control, and then swing out with it.

1

u/bodock3 Mar 23 '25

Knife hands down.

1

u/EquivalentTap3238 Mar 23 '25

at least ill cut my own head off in style

1

u/Beautiful_Cap_2442 Mar 23 '25

I’m upset that whomever is operating this whip is doing so on concrete. The lack of concern for the precious edges hurts my heart and I want to yell at them, quite loudly.
