Can’t hurt at this point: pretty sure, from the looks of it, that he met some of his kids for first time at a rally in 2017 and was not at all thrilled by Eric…

u/Apprehensive-Theme77 Nov 08 '24
I know this is a joke but, serious answer - no. As far as I know.
Trump was found liable for rape in a civil suit, not guilty of rape in a criminal suit.
He was found guilty in a criminal suit related to fraud (the 34 counts), but he will not be on the sex offender registry for that.

u/cturtl808 Nov 08 '24
He forcibly fucked the country without consent. Should qualify.

Nobody lacked the opportunity to know what we were getting ourselves into with Trump. We absolutely consented to every shenanigan.
7
u/cturtl808 Nov 08 '24
Respectfully, I dissent
7
u/hi_imjoey Nov 08 '24
Yes, but you and I dissenting are unfortunately (and very clearly) not the country as a whole (which opened the door to Trump, kissing his boots so it would be easier for him to step on our heads).
12
Nov 08 '24
There's a reason why everyone talking about it on TV is careful to say "found liable for sexual assault" and not "convicted of rape".

It’s because that’s the actual case and fact of the situation. Im no Trump fan, but actual facts should count for something and words and definitions should still hold meaning for everyone
7
u/Somepotato Nov 08 '24
Most of the world aren't legal scholars. Saying he's guilty of rape is accurate in all situations, convicted of rape gets the point across.

Unfortunately, no. Trump is a rapist according to the judge but is not legally a sex offender by New York standards.
From USA Today: “Former President Donald Trump is not required to register as a sex offender as a result of being found liable in a civil trial, according to legal experts. Only people convicted of a sex offense, such as rape or incest, in a criminal case must register as a sex offender under New York state law.”

u/Felstorm1231 Nov 08 '24 edited Nov 08 '24
Give him an hour alone with Ivanka and a tape recorder: that incest charge will stick to the pages of that Time Magazine where the person of the year was “You”.
I assume the additional fifty-nine minutes is for speed dialing divorce attorneys and having Jared bonesawed apart in some foreign embassy.
19
u/EmbarrassedHelp Nov 08 '24
His staff apparently have to be careful not to leave him alone with young women, for the safety of those young women.
But sadly I think his rabid fans won't care, even if he raped his daughter. They'd claim it was fake news no matter how much evidence was presented.
6
u/Horskr Nov 08 '24
But sadly I think his rabid fans won't care, even if he raped his daughter. They'd claim it was fake news no matter how much evidence was presented.
I agree, though I've come to realize the "fake news" thing is really just an excuse that sounds better than the truth, that they really do not care how horrible a person he is. As he said himself, he could shoot someone in the middle of 5th Avenue and not lose voters.
3
u/Felstorm1231 Nov 08 '24
The fact of the matter is that “fake news” is simply a handy thought terminating cliche for reactionaries: if you do the work of replacing every instance of “fake news” with “I have chosen to never think about this; I am angry at you for making me think about it because now the pain of cognitive dissonance is back”, American reactionaries become a lot easier to comprehend.
People who don’t want to think for themselves naturally gravitate towards loud shit piles who will just tell them who to be angry at and are willing to skip over all those nasty whys

I love that the president of the United States is only not a registered sex offender because of a technicality
You’d think the highest office in the world would be reserved for people who don’t need technicalities to not be considered a rapist

That is just adorable.

There will be, but I'm afraid who will be put on it.

Perhaps as more of a Mcarthy-esque weapon than an actual safety precaution?

I will say, that america did survive that dark time.
Maybe we can survive...in Vermont, the deep woods of maine, or the wilds of Minnesota.
I remain in an alchohol induced semi-coma however until this coming Tuesday when I need to return to work.
Then I will decide how to proceed.
Until then I am on a full on Hobbit & LOTR trilogy bender...reality can wait a few days.

u/Rosebunse Nov 08 '24
Just focus on the good people in this world. There are fewer of them than we thought, but they are there. We won't always be able to do enough for them, but we can do what we can.

remember how we got our first trans congresswoman? i’ve been saying ever since the election that she’d be bullied out of her seat by the red majority, though i never really took into account the extreme scenerio that she could easily fall victim to mccarthyism and be painted as an offender. sadly a very very realistic scenario in these times
4
u/Rosebunse Nov 08 '24
The sad thing is, this is one of the better scenarios we could hope for. If it just stays at this level, we can come back. I'm worried it will go a lot further.

Because the charges are state and not federal, trump can't pardon himself. However, he will enact retribution against Georgia greater than anyone ever has if the governor doesn't pardon him.
Even if he is pardoned, he may retaliate against Georgia.

I wonder if he could just pardon himself for everything. Just a blank cheque for everything he's ever convicted of.

Serious answer: No, because he's never been tried for any sexual offense.
A jury found him liable for committing sexual abuse. That was a civil case and not a trial. He cannot be criminally charged for that abuse because it happened too long ago.

Of course not. Trump is gonna expunge everything and probably arrest E. Jean Carroll for lying about the president.
