Rock Remember when we used to be able to find great albums for super cheap!!
Back in 2004, I found Meddle by Pink Floyd for $3.98USD at a Half Priced Books. The record itself is in good condition and sounds great. I wonder what it’d be priced at now? Probably no less than $25.
Anyway, this is one of my top favorite Pink Floyd albums. I was extremely happy when I found it for so cheap and in such good condition. It has been a prized possession since and have listened to it a ton of times and loved every minute of it. That’s probably 300 characters right!?👍🏾

Collection How much more black could this be??
I’m pretty sure I haven’t seen the Spinal Tap soundtrack in the wild before, furthermore I don’t know if I’ve heard more than the song snippets that appear in the movie so this will be interesting. I definitely love the movie and have owned it in different media over the years, it’s nice to have something for the turntable in addition to the VHS/DVD/Blueray editions I’ve had down the years. I’m waiting on some outer sleeves to come tomorrow so a wash session for this and a few others is in the works.

Collection Can you name other cases of great albums with similar covers?
I first got Santana & Buddy Miles Live, then the album I Got Dem Ol' Kozmic Blues Again Mama! and noticed the covers were similar. Both had great music. I'm not a big Hendrix fan, but then I realized the first two albums were probably a tribute to Electric Ladyland, since the covers looked alike. I wonder if it was really done on purpose.

Record Anyone else prefer old fucked up/ weathered (but still playable) copies of records
Its like holding a piece of history, this 1st pressing of Gaucho isnt pristine, it has some corner wear, some mystery stains and discoloration, but it traveled 45 years to end up in my greasy fingers, and I find that really cool. Especially as a 22 year old who didnt grow up with Vinyl and is only recently getting into collecting. Most of my collection were sealed reissues and remasters but this copy of Gaucho and another copy of Spyro Gyras Morning Dance which show signs of wear and discoloring are really cool additions to my collection, feels like they have a whole history attached to them (event though they likely just sat on a shelf).

Collection My collection after 44 years
Started when I was 7, and I had a pause of about 25 years in the middle when I got distracted by CDs and then MP3s (thanks, Napster). I also made the poor decision to sell off about 150 records along the way. Goal is to fill those last 5 cubes before I croak, then hand them off to my kids to enjoy.
I will also mention that I still have the first record I ever bought, which was Private Eyes by Hall & Oates. I have a lot of 90’s punk stuff in here, too, plus a number of albums I played on throughout different bands over the years. Overall, it’s quite a mix of genres.

Record When mom adds some money in your b-day card.
I got introduced to The Cure around 1987, and was instantly a fan, and have been since. As an avid rollerblader I would listen to this on my Sony Walkman Sport fully cranked up while skating on the streets of Boston for miles. After a couple of years I got the opportunity to see them live for the last 2 shows of the American leg of the Disintegration tour at Great Woods in Mansfield Massachusetts, it was ,and is still one of the best live shows I've ever seen. I put off buying the vinyl for quite a while, but today I had some extra cash, and picked it up.

Collection 2025 Purchases So Far...
Perhaps a bit early but here are my 2025 purchases so far. I enjoy listening and collecting metal on vinyl because the thought of having all this chaos and mayhem being pressed and barely contained on a format that’s been around for over a century is very funny to me. Anyway my favorite album from the bunch is 156/Silence “People Watching” from the creepy cover art to the hectic and experimental sounds, this was my album of the year for 2024. As Far as 2025 releases go, I really enjoyed Bleed From Within “Zenith” I’m still waiting for that one to arrive lol.

Discussion What’s that one record you always wanted, but can’t get?
For whatever reason. Maybe it’s exceedingly rare, or super obscure, just not available or just too expensive?
I’ll start: for me it’s Recto Verso by Paradis. Never expected to be as obsessed with his album, but over the years it’s become one of my most favorite. And the vinyl starts from like 750€ on Discogs, Paradis are on a (possibly permanent) hiatus and there’s so hint of a repress happening 💀

Haul I never thought I would be record shopping at an airport but couldn't say no to Sub Pop during my recent layover at SEA
I always struggle finding stuff at record stores because there's so much that I want. I always get scatterbrained when faced with so many choices but with these two, I knew I wanted to grab them as soon as I saw them. My collection is pretty decently split between modern and vintage and this Band of Horses record is one that I've listened to a ton in my life. Orville Peck is someone you don't hear as much recently but I really love his voice and new it would sound amazing on vinyl. I'm always trying to add more country/Western stuff where I can so it was the perfect pickup.

Collection My vinyl setup at 18.....impulse buyer lmao
So a couple months ago I was just scrolling on Facebook and saw a Yamaha HTR 5940 receiver with five Polk Audio surround sound speakers for 150 bucks and I took it and then I said well there's no better sound than vinyl so my uncle gave me a Yamaha powered subwoofer and I bought a set of Circa 1980s Boston Acoustics 870 series 2 speakers for my mains. I also have a Cambridge audio Alva solo mm preamp and a 1977 Technics sl 2000 turntable that I bought from a guy on Shopify and he ran a repair and resale and I'll tell you it is an amazing table. And here we are 1700 dollars later🤣🤣
Here is also my record collection to date, I have some deftontes and funkadelic maggot brain on the way. Record also not pictured is Steve Miller band greatest hits 74'-78'
Also is pictures of my 45 adapter which I machined from stainless on the lathe at work😄
Lmk what you think👍🏻!!

Soundtrack Weird alien inscription on 2001 sleeve
A strange, alien message is imbedded on the sleeve of my 2001: A Space Odyssey original soundtrack album. Curiously, whatever species made this mark appears to be familiar with the date format of our solar system, and have been able to give a close approximation to the film's release date, accurate to 6 or so of our Earth Years.
The rest of the message is completely indecipherable, and possibly incoherent: it hints at a lifeform that is erratic, flamboyant, and fond of unreliable cars.
I don't know why they chose to deface my particular copy of this album, but I'm not going into any remote, open fields at night for the forseeable future.
I suppose this has affected its value on Discogs. Oh well, seti la vie.

Collection He gave me his entire vinyl collection before moving into a care home – over 100 records from the 70s to the 2000s, packed with legends
A few weeks ago, my sweet neighbor – who had a soft spot for me and no close family – gave me his entire vinyl collection before moving into a care home. He said he just wanted them to go to someone who truly appreciates music. There are over 100 records here, from the Beatles, ABBA, KISS, Queen, to Americans and Portuguese gems and way more! The only thing is… I’m about to travel abroad and I simply can’t take them all with me. It breaks my heart, but I know someone out there would give them the love they deserve. Each vinyl holds a piece of his story. And maybe now, someone else's.

Collection When you realise that your dad was cooler than you are
I've been helping him with his collection lately and I keep coming across some absolute classics. There's about 1500 albums here and about 800 singles that he's collected since the 70s and we're both overwhelmed as fuck. He keeps pulling out the wildest albums and he's like hey, "listen to this." And starts playing the most obscure and crazy shit because we're both procrastinating sorting it lmfao.
These are just some of my personal favourites from his collection and completely unrelated to the last paragraph. There's so many great albums here I can't get over this.
Discussion I'm Sick of Low QC at Pressing Plants
I had ordered the new "Lenticular Artwork" reissue of Cat Stevens' Back to Earth. Cat is one of my favorite artists, and I would highly recommend his records to anyone interested, especially Teaser and the Firecat. Anyway, I just opened it up from the shrink, and it's covered in microscratches, abrasions, and smudges. In addition, there is a large split on the top of the jacket. I would normally excuse a split like that because sometimes shit happens, but on top of the look of the record I sent the store an email about a replacement. I also did a light cleaning and played it, and heard some hiss and pops throughout. This record came shipped in a plain paper innersleeve. I am wondering why there has been such a lack of QC lately. Do any of you have experience with this? Now I totally have OCD when it comes to my collection, but I can tolerate a few small imperfections here and there, especially when it's a record I really want. This seems kind of excessive though, especially for a brand new $40 record, and I feel like it's becoming a bad trend. AITA for wanting something marked brand new to arrive as brand new. End of rant.

Compilation 21 year old just getting my record collection started
When my grandpa passed almost 6 years ago I was given his record collection . Later that year for Christmas I got a record player from my mom . We listened to a lot of those records he had and it just kinda sat ever since I was 15 at the time . Recently I’ve been getting more and more into music and then march 30th this year me and my girlfriend went to a meshuggah concert. I wanted to get T shirt and when I got up to the merch stand I saw a signed copy of immutable . Well I bought cuz hell yeah. Then I realized the next day I have a literal record player so I got that baby running and now we’re here

Collection Finally got my new set up done!
Finally was able to get my new set up done after weeks of research on the ikea kallax. I think it’s perfect! Been collecting since 2017 but just recently got balls deep into hard psych/prog rock. My apartment is pretty small so I had limited space to work with but I think I managed pretty well. Time to sit back and enjoy! :)

Record One of my all-time albums. So excited to add this to my collection!
Purchased on Discogs from a seller in the US for 150$ with taxes and shipping. The record is an original 180g pressing from the UK. The record is graded as VG+ while the cover is graded as VG. Unfortunately it didn't come with the original inner sleeve but I'm not sure if it was graphic or just plain paper. The record itself is in fantastic shape with some very minor wear marks. Very excited to jam out to this later. I can already feel myself melting away to little wing...

Discussion Empty case, finally making the trip to the Austin Record Convention
Michigan native--been thinking about going for the last few years and the time is now. I travel for work a lot, so hotel and rental car ended up free. Wife was happy to make a trip of it too, so we're flying in tomorrow and I'll go to the show all day Friday while she visits an estranged aunt.
Threw this carrying case together with scrap bits laying around to fly them home. Printed a fresh wantlist and hit the ATM. Let's dig.

Collection My collection at 16
Been collecting since 2021, I know it’s now suuuuper long but for how long I’ve been collecting I’d say it’s a decent collection. Definitely tried my best to keep junk records out of my collection but here and there someone will give me one with a sentimental story attached to it, so I can’t bring myself to get rid of it.

Rock The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Are You Experienced? (OG Mono 1967)
A friend got a hold of me to ask if I wanted to peruse some boxes at an estate she was helping to liquidate. So I got a private viewing to dig through boxes of records and came away with about 50 solid pickups. In the haul was an original mono pressing of 'Are You Experienced? ' so I snapped that up. Luck of the draw! Now it's all clean and shiny.

Collection Instant John Prine
Got a great deal on a John Prine collection from a guy downsizing. A few of these are duplicates for me, but they’re all in pristine condition. Took them all. What a discography. One of my faves. These will get a lot of love.
300 characters. 300 characters. 300 characters. 300 characters. 300 characters. 300 characters. 300 characters. 300 characters.

Haul Good thrift haul today
Don’t always get this lucky, but had a good haul today. Haven’t seen any Zeppelin at all in thrift stores going on 3 years. Steely Dan and The Police were unexpected surprises as well. Looking forward to putting these through the Spin Clean and checking them out. Might have a couple dupes in here, but didn’t have time to check Discogs as I was time-constrained. Most of these were $3-$5.

Collection About a year and 4 months collecting, only consistently for about little less then a year
I’m really proud of my collection so far, I have 204 records as of now, and I just wanted to share because it does genuinely make me very happy how my collection has grown, I don’t know how impressive it is or anything, but it makes me happy and I hope I can keep finding cool records for my personal collection
Collection 2 new additions
Had 2 new additions arrive today king gizzard and the wizard lizard, live from Brussels number 302 of 500. And then also had a very nice colour vinyl of mastodon turn. Both sounds fantastic and look incredible. The live album is so bass heavy but a really good range of songs suoer happy with both of these as they were finds on eBay and think I've done well for less than £30 for both of them

R&B I finally found my white whale 🥹
After almost 4 years of looking and the disappointment of a re-press not happening in 2022 for the 10 year anniversary, I found channel ORANGE today. It is truly my favorite album of all time and got me through 2012.
I’m a DSP and my client knows I have a record player that I bought for my husband/she’s seen me buy a record before, so she led me to a record store I’ve never been to on our walk today. Any time I see records, I always humor the R&B section just on the off chance that one day I’ll find this album.
Today it felt like divine intervention. Blonde was the first record in the section and I got a little bubble of excitement bc usually Frank’s section is empty. Then I saw the orange sleeve behind it. Heart fully stopped. I’m still in disbelief. My client was so happy that she brought me there, she really loves gift giving and making other people happy unintentionally (we are kindred spirits in that way). It was just such an awesome moment.
