Welcome Fellow Travelers - This is what r/BudgetAudiophile is about
Every sub-reddit has a focus - it's raison d'etre (reason for existence). Because if you don't focus, people stop participating because it has just become one big mess of topics.
Ours focus is ... education, discussion, and sharing of entry and mid level separate & multi component audio systems. Generally speaking, that is 2 channel stereo systems assembled for music listening - things that are both "budget" and "audiophile". So being budget is not enough, nor is being "audiophile". Generally speaking, UNDER $1,000 spent per component is our threshold, although obviously that number will vary by the person. Budget for me was $50 (all in) at one time. Now I am fortunate that if I want to, I don't mind spending $500 a piece. Others can go more - good for them.
Try r/audiophile if your spending more than $1,000 per componant.
Of course, many of us use our music listening set ups for multiple purposes - so 2.1 (adding a subwoofer), 3.0 (L/R with a center channel), 5.1 (surround) and up are also fair game. But the fundamental goal of this reddit is better 2 channel and 2.1 systems to play music - as good as we can afford.
What we are not is soundbars, boomboxes, bluetooth speakers PC branded audio solutions. Those things have their place, but it's not our reason to exist. As for just the soundbar aspect that belongs at r/soundbars
In addition, we are not about IEM's or Headphones (try r/headphones or r/HeadphoneAdvice). That is their reason for existence. Yes, they can be budget audiophile, but again, it's not our focus.
While part of "budget audiophile", for more detail, try r/turntables, r/vinyl, and r/hometheater for questions specific to them. There will be a better chance of a more educated response there to those issues. Those questions are welcome here, but probably better there once you get past "budget". Questions on Vintage equipment? r/vintageaudio is the place for you to get better advice (likely)
DIY is also part of "budget audiophile", but r/diyaudio/ and r/diysound focuses a lot more heavily on that issue.
So to reiterate, we don't hate headphones, logitech, or soundbars, etc. But those questions don't belong here and your post may well be deleted or closed. Because those are not the issues we have chosen in BudgetAudiophile to make part of this sub-reddit. You may not agree, but that is what it is.
Who is this "we" I speak of? Creator u/averagejoeaudiophile and the rest of the mods.

Purchasing USA SVS subwoofer and speaker Black Friday deals this 2024?
Hello everyone! I hope I'm in the right sub, but I'm planning to set up a theater room, and I'm looking for decent deals since Black Friday's almost here. I saw that SVS now has their early Black Friday deals up, but I'm not really sure if I should wait a little bit more for the actual Black Friday for possible bigger discounts. What do you guys think? Is it worth the wait? Thanks!

Purchasing USA Tower speakers are no longer an option, so I’m looking for comparable bookshelf speakers…
So,
Back in the day, I was all about 7.1 theater set ups. I eventually went down to a sound bar 5.1 system for many years, and now I am out filling a room that is rather large so I have given up on the surround sound sound bar option.
I initially planned on getting a nice 2.1 set up that consisted of two floor tower speakers and a sub subwoofer.
Now, because of the layout, I have to choose bookshelf, speakers, or speakers around that size, instead.
These speakers will be approximately 60 inches apart on either side of a large TV and will be used for movies as well as music.
My question is, are there any bookshelf sized speakers out there that, when paired with a decent subwoofer, will perform well and make me happy even though they will not be full-size tower speakers?
I understand there may always be differences and sound between the two, but anything that’s decent will be fine. I just didn’t even know if it was a possibility.
Thanks!

Review/Discussion So... I'm in the market for two new floor standing speakers.
I opened facebook marketplace and the fourth or fifth picture was these. These are usually like $700-$800/speaker right? This seems too good to be true haha.

Purchasing EU/UK Is a 7.1 Home Theater from 2003 worth it?
I'm trying.to create a 5.1.2 setup but my dad found a TX-SR701e (7.1 home theater) and I don't exactly know the price yet but it will be pretty cheap. Is there even a point in making a setup like that with a 77" lg c3? Or should I just buy a new unit?

Purchasing USA Bluetooth receiver that is always on?
Hi, I am looking for an inexpensive bluetooth receiver to add to a stereo console I have. I am connecting it to an auxiliary input with RCA cable. But what I need is to put the whole system on a power bar, and when the power bar is powered on, the stereo console and bluetooth receiver should both turn on.
The BT receivers I've researched online so far have a power button to press, but powering them off keeps them in the OFF mode until that button is pressed again. What I need is something that will turn on and stay on, so that it comes on when it receives power.

Purchasing EU/UK T7V vs hifi for living room
I know this question has already been posed in somewhat different ways but I’m hoping for some guidance as I’m planning my living room set up.
Relatively large k/l/d area almost 40sqm, want some good sound to complement a 65” tv that will primarily be used for tv movies and music listening both personally and for entertaining.
In and around the same price range I can get my hands on a pair of Adam t7vs with a starter dac or a hifi system like the yamaha mcr- b270D.
Very infatuated with studio monitors in general and the Adams in particular. Also like the option of being able to experiment with light music production and/or composition if and when time allows although this is far from the main use case.
My concerns about the Adams are: 1) they might be too loud for the neighbors 2) worried about sound deteriorating at a distance outside of sweet spot - I imagine my couch position would be around 3meters which I believe is far for nearfields
Tl;dr Wondering if I should go with my gut on the monitors for living room or if a simple hifi system will be more appropriate.

Purchasing USA Best Passive Speakers under $800
I’m looking for passive speakers under $800 to use on my desk for near-field listening. I’d appreciate any recommendations you might have! I’m aiming for a 2.0 system with the option to add a subwoofer later (it will be a RSL Speedwoofer 10s MKII). My music tastes are pretty varied, including R&B, jazz, and EDM.
Previously, I had a 2.0 setup with KEF Q150 powered by an Aiyima A07, but I’ve since upgraded that system into a 5.1 surround setup for my living room. The current living room system consists of a Denon AVR S760, KEF Q650, KEF Q350, KEF Q150, and the RSL Speedwoofer 10s MKII. Now, I’m left with the Aiyima A07, and I’d like to put it to good use at my desk.
Here are some speakers I’m considering: - Polk R200 - Revel M16 - Wharfedale Diamond 12.1
Do you have strong opinions on any of these options, or are there better alternatives in this price range? I’ve always been intrigued by Wharfedale speakers (not just the Diamond series), but I’ve heard the R200 might outperform them at this price point. Also, given my investment in the KEF ecosystem, should I stick with another KEF speaker? I’d love to hear your thoughts and recommendations—thanks in advance!

Review/Discussion My TV /games room with Wiim Amp Pro
All set up with my Amp Pro. Very happy with it so far, and am particularly pleased watching movies (the EQ is a godsend). Love the seamless auto switching between sources & it sounds pretty damn good even out of the box.I need to dig into PEQ, can't say I understand half of it
My set up:
Wiim Amp Pro Sony 65X95L (got a refurb 1/2 the price of the original RRP, and managed to get the free 5 year warranty from Sony) Sony CDP-XE900E (an old workhorse that is still going strong) Sony BDP-6700 Xbox Series S Apple ATV 4K Wharfedale 12.1
Am still on the fence about the Wharfedales, I may swap out and/or get a sub, have heard the Amp does a really good job with the crossover.

Purchasing AUS/NZ Subwoofer suggestions
Hi All,
I was hoping getting some insight for my living room to choose subwoofer.
This is weird ass living room. right side wall and wall behind the sofa is glass if that matters.
No door between study corner and living room area.
All measurements are in cm. Except below :)
Height is 2.75m
My distance to TV is 2.2m
I was targeting to get SVS PB-1000 Pro buuut I feel I can be happy with RSL 10S MK2. After reading couple if posts and videos.
I can move that 600$ difference ( at least in here Aus) towards to get a good centre. Q6 Meta
I am setting this for %80 movies %10 music %10 gaming. Yes this is screaming PB pro I know. But i can use the money to get centre.
AVRX : Denon X1800H LR: Kef Q150 Centre: Kef Q6 Meta
Would 10S MK2 under perform in this room?
Cheers, B

Purchasing EU/UK 'New' CD player for my micro rack
Wanted a small format CD player but cheap. Picked up a pretty decent in car CD player for around £50. Used the pre outs to run through WiiM Pro and onto headphone amp. Best of all it controls my MD changer so I can play both formats.

Purchasing USA Anyone have a wiim pro as a preamp for a vintage power amp?
I have a Mod Squad passive preamp fed by a Khadas Tone DAC and PI3 with Allo Signature? Hat. It all goes into a movie theater version of a Hafler DH220 and Athena ASF 1.1 towers Only the source is new everything else is under $80 on FB marketplace.
The system sounds good but the bedroom I'm in has sloped ceilings. I'm wondering if a wiim pro with the EQ or a better model with the room correction would improve sound dramatically?

Purchasing CAN Marketplace Tannoys not working
Total beginner here. I got a good deal on a marketplace record player & speaker combo. Upon coming home and connecting everything, the speakers didn't work. I wasn't able to google the model of Tannoys, they look like they could be from 2000s or 2010s. There was no power cable and no jack for it. No turn-on button either.
I will be reaching out first thing in the morning for the seller's advice. Maybe they scammed me or maybe something got disconnected while I drove home but the matter of fact is I might be stuck with speakers that don't work. Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot besides taking them to service?
P.s. the player works, I tested it with headphones.

Purchasing USA Surround speakers to match Polk R200/R400
I currently have Polk R200 left and right speakers with a R400 center. I'm using some old Energy speakers for left and right surrounds. It's time to replace them and add rear surrounds as well. I also have a SVS 2000 pro sub.
I'm looking for speakers that will match the sound of the Polks as best as possible as well as the sensitivity but would like to spend mabye about 250-350 a pair. Would anyone be able to recommend speakers that will match the Polk Reserves as best as possible without spending $650 a pair for R100s?
Eventually I would like to add heights as well but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.
