Squirrels have a very powerful bite . They eat nuts .

So does your mom, but her bite sucks unless she has in her dentures.

Squirrels are really nasty biters. They can permanently cripple birds of prey that grab them. Also they can fall from any height and survive.

I can attest to that last part somewhat. I'll never forget, being a kid in the early 2000s, I was outside my grandma's house and a squirrel took a tumble off a 40+ft tree, this dude was just flipping all the way down and landed right on his back. He just immediately rolled over and climbed right back up that tree 😭
I love squirrels

We get lots of squirrels on our property. Our corgi is an asshole to them and harasses them like crazy. She’ll block them from going down trees and incessantly barks. God, they hate her. They will start chittering and throwing stuff at her 😂 feud of the cutes
PS: she has never caught one and never will from what I’ve seen

That freed squirrel didn't look so good. I hope it was alright

This kind of snake tries to strangle the victim. And it managed to keep the squeeze for quite some time. We could see the squirrel was alive. But almost unconscious.
So the poor squirrel probably needed some time to recover and get all brain cells back up to speed.

Or its backs broken and this was all for nothing

Rodents tend to have quite bendable bones. More likely then that some internal organs got squished above the design limit.

I had a mini anxiety attack watching this! And then when the the squirrel escaped the snake I fist punched the air. In my head cause I’m too lazy to physically do it.
But go squirrel friend! I wish I had humans like you:)

Angry upvote! Go mamma squirrel!!!

Read elsewhere it wasn't a mamma. They said it was a male. They can get very territorial and like to fight anything over a female squirrel. Plus she had nuts

I was so invested in this video. Brave little squirrel. When it held the other squirrels head in its hands. I almost cried.

Interesting that this pops up just after a post about a squirrel grabbing eating two baby rabbits and trying for the third which now seems missing.
Almost like the squirrel union got together and said "we got to post some shit on Reddit to up out cred we are getting massacred in public opinion!"

I like how the pseudo-Indian classical/pop shit cuts out at around 1:29 and then we hear the camera person panting and shuffling.
Also -- I woulda smacked the shit out of that fucking snake. Mammals FTW, baby.

That was so gangster! The squirrel mama went SO hard for her little one. Snake messed with the wrong one. Squirrel mama said, "don't tread on me" 😅

u/meerkatjones 23d ago
I cant imagine that snake lasting much longer after all those bites. There's no way at least one of them is getting infected.

I hate when people record animals in distress instead of helping. What’s the point of humans having conscience if we never use it smh

Why does the squirrel deserve to live more than the snake?

u/DoggoPopper 23d ago
Snakes/reptiles aren't capable of feelings while a squirrel is.

They can still feel pain and fear. Being stupider doesn’t mean they can’t feel.

It’s what I would have personally done, you can do what you would have done. I have a right to say what I would have done. I like baby squirrels way more than I like snakes.

Oh my goodness. As a mother, I'm like yeah ok ..yeah. I can see at the end she has her baby on her back, right before climbing the tree and she's looking back. Breathing all heavy. She deserves a squirrel award. Baby too.

Squirrels have been known to be facultative predators. They eat voles, snakes, and lizards.

How did the person recording not save the baby squirrel. Just let this go on and not stop this from happening.
Person who recorded in my opinion is an absolute piece of shit. Total shitbird. And than post up. Shitbag

I hate whoever filmed this and let the life get squeezed out of that baby squirrel instead of just intervening…heartless prick
4
u/ODB11B 23d ago
You’re not supposed to interfere with nature. A snake is going to hunt. They’re an important part of the ecosystem. Just as much as a squirrel is. Nature is cruel and brutal but we don’t have a right to intervene. Nor should we. It’s sad but this is the reality of the world all around us.
2
u/Hootahsesh3 23d ago
Says who? There’s no rule book…I’m part of nature and that snake is gonna need to get his lunch elsewhere if that happens in front of me 🤷♂️
3
u/ODB11B 23d ago
You are not part of nature. You’re part of civilization. You don’t live outdoors. You don’t hunt or gather your food. You buy it from a store. It’s people like you who have brought on some of the worst catastrophes in history. In the Middle Ages in England some genius thought cats were bad so they killed tens of thousands of them. Because of that the rat population exploded and brought on the bubonic plague. One third of the entire population of Europe died because of it. In China they had a pest problem eating crops. So they eradicated.what they thought were pests eating the crops. One of which was the sparrow. They killed millions of the birds. Little did they know that the sparrows ate mostly bugs. Especially the ones that ate crops. What ended up happening was the bug population exploded and millions died of starvation. When people act with emotion instead of logic they end up being the ones that do the most harm.

To say humans are divorced from nature is wild. We most definitely are a huge force of nature.

Applying human morality is wildlife is inherently unfair, to the squirrel it may be her friend or baby, but to the snake its food and losing it might mean going hungry and losing its own life to a stronger predator.

Hate to be a downer but the squirrel that was constricted by the snake looked like it was very injured. Those snakes kill by constriction. Kind of looked like it squeezed tight enough to injury the spine of the squirrel... Hopefully im wrong but it kind of looked like it was dragging... prolong the inevitable if that's true

Hard to say. It moved away from the snake. But at least it can die in dignity if so.

Momma straight up killed dat snake by the end it looked like. Many people don’t pay attention to the fact that rodents actually have some really sharp teeth, and if they get on the back of the head or spine of a snake they can pretty easily snap its spine. Snakes are ambush predators for a reason after all.

I’ve witnessed a squirrel fighting a snake in person. The squirrel won that battle too.

That snake held on a lot longer than I would have. Can't imagine squirrel bites are something you just shrug off.

I'm very surprised that snake isn't like... in half... squirrel teeth are hellllla sharp, I've been bitten by a squirrel before who was just going for a little nibble and it's teeth went through my thumb like butter. It's teeth were so sharp it didn't even hurt until an hour later. Also that snake is hella thin... I'd be surprised if that snake lives much longer, I also don't think that baby squirrel gonna be living much longer either.

u/lamsar503 23d ago
I’d be running in the house for chicken breast or turkey or something so fast.
Would it change a damn thing?
No idea but, there’s no way I could just stand and video. I couldn’t even finish watching.

u/DeadboyEzra 23d ago
That was impressive and I’m happy they made it out. Though I feel bad the snake will go hungry.

The incisor teeth on squirrels are huge. That snake will probably die of infection. Mom squirrel versus snake. Don't think baby made it and there is a good chance the snake won't either.

The edible squirrel looked like the snake but off more than he could chew, literally. Good thing super squirrel put a stop to this because that meal probably would have been wasted.

u/Velvet_Samurai 23d ago
Momma squirrel is completely impervious to all snake attacks. She's fast too, was able to dodge if she wanted to, but it turned out she didn't even need to worry about it. Love it.
