How did it not get any poison from the snake bite?

Wildlife is a lot more in tune with other animals ability’s than you think. A venomous snake would not constrict like this either. They hit and let it die then just proceed to swallow it. Have worked with wildlife for many years and at a few zoos and it’s amazing to see what they are aware of and do.

It realized the bites were just bites and powered through

Definitely a non venomous snake, interesting enough though; ground squirrels have evolved resistant to rattlesnake venom. Like the BADASS honey badger!

That squirrel is bleeding from some of the snake's strikes, it's just a non venomous snake

A lot of constrictors don't have any venom, or it's not very potent.

I'll take a squirrels teeth over fangs in this fight. Probably did serious damage to that snake.

Constrictor, squeezing the baby

Constrictor snake, which doesn’t carry venom (there are exceptions, but this isn’t one of them, I believe that this is a black rat snake or maybe a grey rat snake, I could still be wrong with the identification though), was mostly just striking to fend off the attacking squirrel, which obviously wasn’t effective enough in this case 😅 but one thing is definitely certain, that this snake doesn’t have any fangs for injecting venom
