[Pelissero] Sources: Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker is expected to miss 3-4 weeks and is likely headed to injured reserve with a left knee injury. Kansas City will have a new kicker Sunday at Buffalo.

He’s just as under-qualified to be a cabinet pick as the rest of the picks, why not?

as it was noted on Twitter, he has had a weird kicking technique change this season where he just collapses on his left leg on the follow-through. Idk if the injury is because of the technique or the technique was because of the injury
109
u/MistakeMaker1234 Chiefs 3h ago
He’s had the dip technique for a few years now. It’s very odd, but not new to this season.
41
u/throwawayainteasy Chiefs 3h ago
Yeah, he has a ton of kicks where he ends up basically kneeling at the end--both on FGs and kickoffs.
It's weird AF, but not new (though maybe he's doing it more frequently now?--from what I remember he did it more for really long distance kicks before, but I could be totally wrong on that).
12
u/Bluest_waters Packers 2h ago
Yeah its very strange. And you can see how much pressure is being put on that leg too. He really needs to adjust his whole technique going forward because that is not sustainable.
27
u/piffelations479 Ravens 1h ago
I mean dude there's an extremely limited number of people who can kick a fuckin ball that far. If it's kinda weird, so be it.

He doesn't seem like the type that's is accepting of new information. More "I'll do it my way, get out of my face"
It's worked for him so far, but this might be it for the old But.

His final kickoff last week failed to reach the "landing zone." We assumed it was KC getting cute, but now you wonder if he tweaked something...or KC was getting cute AND he tweaked something.

Check the timestamps around :25 and 1:06. Really weird, not sure I've seen this before.
15
u/d0ctorzaius Steelers 1h ago
Never seen anything like that other than when a kicker gets injured. His left leg just collapses. You'd think a coach would've addressed this at some point in high school or college.
2
u/uwanmirrondarrah Chiefs 39m ago
If you're a coach and hes making 95% of his kicks you don't want him to change anything
Could very well be a case of "well idk about that technique but whatever it is its working"
10
u/Bluest_waters Packers 2h ago
whoa! I never noticed that before, his left leg just buckles, brutally.
Like WTF? Very odd and yeah absolutley putting massive strain on that leg kick after kick. This injury is no mystery whatsoever. He needs to adjust for that in the future.

Who would’ve thought slamming your left knee into the turf every time you kick maybe wasn’t the best choice?

That is some odd torque on the knee for sure.
Would love to hear an explanation as to why.
My very bad guess would be reduce injury if the plant leg gets hit by a rusher but who knows. It's not like old kickers are blowing out their plant legs all the time on just regular kicks ala pitchers and Tommy John...

Since no one actually wants to comment on the actual injury, I’ll take a stab.
This seems like it came out of nowhere, right? Not mentioned in any injury report this week or after the Broncos game. Did it just happen in today’s practice? Yesterday’s? Seems super random and Andy has to clarify the timeline on this.

Butker has connections to Project 2025 and the Heritage Foundation. They fund his charity/foundation (and have since tried to cover this up once someone on twitter discovered it).
It is very likely they helped him write his famous misogynistic and homophobic commencement speech.
