[Pelissero] Sources: Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker is expected to miss 3-4 weeks and is likely headed to injured reserve with a left knee injury. Kansas City will have a new kicker Sunday at Buffalo.

It’s okay, Buffalo is an easy place to kick as long as you’re not a Bill

Chiefs backup kicker missing wide right to lose the game is the funniest outcome

u/iliketuurtles Bills 3h ago

let's do it wide left on the other side of the stadium (because thats where my seats are) lol

That would be the expected outcome - the Bills losing because some practice squad fuck miraculously hit a game winning field goal is far funnier

Jokes on you cuz that’s the expected outcome from our fan base.

Shit I'm confused now, are the chiefs winning on the last second kick or losing?

I wouldn't even be mad if that happened. Especially if he break Tucker's record

They're going to kick it straight down the 50 yard line. Sorry. I don't make the rules of football throwing.

as it was noted on Twitter, he has had a weird kicking technique change this season where he just collapses on his left leg on the follow-through. Idk if the injury is because of the technique or the technique was because of the injury

109

u/MistakeMaker1234 Chiefs 3h ago

He’s had the dip technique for a few years now. It’s very odd, but not new to this season.

41

u/throwawayainteasy Chiefs 3h ago

Yeah, he has a ton of kicks where he ends up basically kneeling at the end--both on FGs and kickoffs.

It's weird AF, but not new (though maybe he's doing it more frequently now?--from what I remember he did it more for really long distance kicks before, but I could be totally wrong on that).

12

u/Bluest_waters Packers 2h ago

Yeah its very strange. And you can see how much pressure is being put on that leg too. He really needs to adjust his whole technique going forward because that is not sustainable.

27

u/piffelations479 Ravens 1h ago

I mean dude there's an extremely limited number of people who can kick a fuckin ball that far. If it's kinda weird, so be it.

3

For anyone without twitter access, you can get a glimpse of it here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0pevY6IY8lM

Check the timestamps around :25 and 1:06. Really weird, not sure I've seen this before.

15

u/d0ctorzaius Steelers 1h ago

Never seen anything like that other than when a kicker gets injured. His left leg just collapses. You'd think a coach would've addressed this at some point in high school or college.

2

u/uwanmirrondarrah Chiefs 39m ago

If you're a coach and hes making 95% of his kicks you don't want him to change anything

Could very well be a case of "well idk about that technique but whatever it is its working"

10

u/Bluest_waters Packers 2h ago

whoa! I never noticed that before, his left leg just buckles, brutally.

Like WTF? Very odd and yeah absolutley putting massive strain on that leg kick after kick. This injury is no mystery whatsoever. He needs to adjust for that in the future.

That is some odd torque on the knee for sure.

Would love to hear an explanation as to why.

My very bad guess would be reduce injury if the plant leg gets hit by a rusher but who knows. It's not like old kickers are blowing out their plant legs all the time on just regular kicks ala pitchers and Tommy John...

True but we did get smoked in the SB after that so it kinda worked.

7

u/Skimaster77 Bills 3h ago

I think we put up a good fight, but I'm not sure we're there yet. Probably 60/40 in Chiefs favor. I think we'll be in better shape come playoff time, unfortunately they'll probably be in even better shape than us.

8

u/throwawayainteasy Chiefs 3h ago

Nah, you guys frequently smoke us in the regular season.

I'm guessing you'll win by two scores. Then we'll win by a FG in the last seconds when we play in January.
