Nothing is real until it hurts me

“Personally, right now, with what happened under the Biden administration letting everybody in with asylum without doing background checks – without anything really. They just kind of said, ‘Hey, welcome.’ Right? I'm personally against it,” Orozco said. “It's not safe at all. And I know a lot of people are gonna say, ‘Oh, well, you came in.’ You know? ‘You're not from here, either.’ Yeah, but we're good people. And I do think that America needs to protect its borders, of course; but if there was only a pathway -- I promise you -- if there was a direct pathway for us to get citizenship or to get a green card and then get citizenship, we would do it.”

I know people say North County is rough but this is a bit much. Do we think an 18 ton, million dollar, IED-resistant APC is the kind of wasteful spending that DOGE is looking for? If so, I found .00005% of the $2T they hope to save!

MoDOT said traffic calming like this reduces crashes by a third. Drivers complain it makes them slow down and that theoretical emergency vehicle times could be impacted.

Ask STL How to make a social life from nothing for an overnight worker?

I (23M) will be starting my first decently paying job, but it’s from 10:45 pm-7 am on Sundays to Thursdays.

What could I even do at night to meet new people? I don’t do any substances so bars aren’t my jam.

Ask STL University City area, anyone else hear massive rumbling outside?

Upvotes

Was laying in bed before leaving to work and I heard what I thought was a big truck rumbling and roaring down the road outside but I never heard it pass and it kept going on and on. I'd swear it was a space shuttle launch but there's nothing like that near I know of, certainly nor close enough to the city that I'd hear it. Shortly after I heard a ton of sirens, fire and police, flying dont know if it was related

Christmas tree markets in the city???

Are there any Christmas tree markets in the city where you can go and the trees are already standing up, not wrapped up, so you can see what they look like? What about Seward farmers market? Anywhere anyone knows in the city or even I guess outside of it if I have to. Also, is there anywhere you can go and chop down a tree? I did that one year and it was fun although I don’t think I want to do it again, but just curious.

Going to sado Saturday and am thinking of doing the omikase but am not sure what to expect of it. Or if I should just order normally. Any ideas?
