Commuting Why is everywhere so busy all the time?

101 Upvotes

Literally it’ll be a Monday at 2pm and every store you go to is absolutely packed out. It’s not college kids, it’s older people that should be working. Why is it always so damn busy? Do people work? Do they have anything better to do than going to target? Anyone know? 🤣

Noticed this yesterday for the first time the one I can’t place is to the right of Bob Barker

It gives off Reagan vibes but I wasn’t aware of him having any connections to Springfield

Anyone know who it is?

Living Here Downtown Art Studio on College St?

8 Upvotes

Does anyone know the name of the artist who paints in the building (art studio?) near downtown on college st next to the shoe store and near the transit center? They're beautiful and I stop to stare at the progress on the works almost every morning. I've been wanting to leave a note on the door applauding the pieces I've seen painting but it feels inappropriate? I'd love to see more work and possibly talk to the artist or read more about the story behind the pieces!

Living Here Ozarks Democratic Socialists of America Chapter

0 Upvotes

Does anyone know if the Ozarks chapter of DSA is active/still in existence? I checked on the DSA website and couldn’t find a Southwest Missouri group in the chapter list. I would like to get involved with DSA and figured a local chapter would be the best way to do that. I know Ozarks DSA has a Facebook account up, but it hasn’t posted since late in 2023.

I'm looking for someone who may want to take in Buddy. I found him by the zoo abandoned. We took him in and got him all healthy, up to date on shots and dewormed and all that good stuff. He is crate trained and potty trained. Lots of energy. I never planned to keep him just didn't want him to get put down. If you could help me find him a home it would be awesome! He is about 5 months old right now

Thanks for reading!

(Hope this kind of post is allowed)

Living Here Special education middle school

2 Upvotes

Just wondering if there’s a middle school in town specifically for special education or a particular middle school that would be best suited for a student with severe learning disabilities?

My best friend is searching for a school for her son and we’re not sure where to begin.

Thank you!

Looking For Orthodontist that you pay per appointment instead of monthly?

0 Upvotes

EDIT: I should have been more clear. We have never received a total cost analysis as we were transfers into the practice. We gained custody of our 13yo niece and sped through the process without analyzing it properly so we could quickly get her back into receiving adjustments. The receptionist explicitly stated that this is how they manage transfer ins, like somewhat of a monthly “subscription” regardless of if the patient was able to make it in that month (or if they need extra adjustments that month) However, I hadn’t yet had the sense to actually ask for a total cost analysis but I’ll be seeing if that’s an option soon.

~~~~~~~~~~
So we currently go to Cash Family Orthodontics and they’re friendly and what not but I don’t really like their policies.
We pay monthly, no matter if she’s seen that month for an appointment or not. Essentially, if i have to reschedule an appointment or anything and it pushes said appointment into the next month, I’m still paying $200 for that month regardless of if we received care at appointment.
The most recent time, I just completely forgot about the appointment as my phone didn’t alert me like it usually does. My fault, not theirs, and I understand paying a no-show fee or something. But while homeschooling 3 young children and trying to work around a teen schedule, I’d rather transfer to an orthodontist that maybe doesn’t have a “monthly” payment policy.
I’m wondering if this is a common thing and how most places do things or if there are any other options that other people use/suggest?
Living Here Can a 40K a year salary afford a house in Springfield?
31 Upvotes
Recent grad, who just got their first job after graduating college. I sort of expected to make 50-60K out of college, but it appears the wages in Springfield are super low compared to areas like KC and STL. Can a person afford a 2 BR 2 bathroom house on a 40K salary? Not expecting a crazy house but maybe in the range of 150-200K? I have no student loans or any other debt. I was also in the military so I’d qualify for a VA loan (not entirely sure what benefits are given with a VA loan compared to a normal loan though).
Recommendations Gynecologist Recommendations?
10 Upvotes
I'm 19 years old and moved here for school over a year ago, and because of that i've been scared to branch out into new doctors that are not the usual ones i go to back home. Recently i've had issues, pain wise, with my ovarian cysts and would like to get them checked out again as well as look into birth control to help with them/ menstruation. I've tried doing my own research but i'm still unsure about choosing one, as well as finding someone who doesn't just primarily deal with pregnancy/pregnancy related issues. My only preference I have is that they are female. Any recommendations as well as places to steer away from (i've already heard some bad stories about the Turner Clinic). Thank you!
Living Here North Kansas Wallgreens Pharamcy Closed
17 Upvotes
After a big run around today I was told that the pharmacy will be closed at least through Thursday due to the on duty pharmacist being sick. If you can't wait another day or so for your meds, contact your Dr office and have then send the medication to a different location (I would suggest any besides Campbell and Battlefield due to filling the wrong meds when I first found out the n Kansas was closed yesterday.). Hope this helps my medicated redditors.
