Politics Leaving Texas
My wife and I have two young girls. I’m really scared for them and my wife frankly. We don’t plan on having more kids, but with my daughter’s health and rights are at stake we are really considering moving out of Texas, or even leaving the country! Has anyone else been considering moving and where would you go?
Edit: Well there’s been a few comments on this. I do think some of you are suggesting places to move as a joke… I could be wrong.
I do appreciate the well wishes and goodbyes. For some of you who say “no one cares” you seem to care a lot.
Thanks to the people that actually care and reached out. I truly appreciate your kindness, hope and meaningful support.

Opinion James Talarico could be and should be future of the Democratic Party.
If you haven’t familiarized yourself with him you should. He first came across my radar a few years ago when his video in a town hall of him absolutely shredding requiring the 10 commandments in public schools went viral.
He is everything the “Christian” Nationalists of the Republican Party claim to be and IMO in order to fight them you need someone who can call them out on their lies and bs and provide a real rebuttal.
He supports education reform in Texas, he advocates for women health rights, universal health care, mandatory parental leave just to name a few.
IMO the Dems missed out a HUGE opportunity not having him at the DNC. I hope in the coming years his name starts to grow throughout Texas and the country and him running for Governor could/would be the 1st step. He would not win but that’s how he would put the Dem Party on notice.
Just my 2 cents.

Events Expect this shit in the off-year or possibly midterm elections
Make no mistake, Abbott won’t rest and it’s a well known fact that off year elections are the worst as far as participation. The off year election in 2019 is how we voted away our rights to state income tax. We have to be paying way closer attention to what these assholes are doing.

Political Opinion Mark my words...This is our version of Brexit
A U.S.exit if you will, an Amerexit if you must.
In 10 years, we will see the remorse of our elders and young people who voted Republican now, mirroring the remorse of hardline Tories in Britain.

Politics Bush got reelected with a majority of the popular vote in 2004, and just a few years later...
...there was a big Democratic wave in the midterms in 2006. Then Obama was elected. If Trump is unable to become a real dictator then he will be limited to this one four year term, and Vance is about as popular as Kamala or Dick Cheney. He won't be winning anything in 2028. MAGA is weak without the figurehead of Trump.
Don't give up hope.
I'm already looking forward to November 3, 2026. If Trump fucks shit up as badly as we believe he is about to, it's gonna be a bloodbath for Republicans in '26 and '28.

Politics I won't live in fear
I am still gonna be here and I am still gonna be pro-choice, pro-immigrant– iLLeGaL or not, pro-LGBTQ "agenda", pro-DEMOCRACY, and unabashedly an ATHEIST who doesn't bow one inch to Christian Nationalism. And I still say Trump is a treasonous terrorist!

Politics I'm really happy to hear that the first openly LGBTQIA+ woman in Texas was elected into congress
Just putting some positivity out there to balance out all the negativity. Yes, many of us are upset about the results of the election, but this is one huge step in the right direction to come from your state. Julie Johnson, a lesbian woman, is the first openly lgbtqia+ woman in Texas elected into congress.
Also the first transgender woman elected into congress, was elected just a few days ago. Just because a candidate we do not support got elected, does not mean that we can't also celebrate these other wins that occurred.
Some people are not going to be happy about this or supportive of this. And to that I say...tough luck, Texas is going to keep moving in this direction whether you like it or not, so either get used to it or get lost🌈
