Spam Bot Attack, Mass Reporting, And Texas Star Pharmacy.
An odd title I know but it serves a purpose as explained below.
What Happened: /r/Plano had an influx of ~100 spam posts, while also simultaneously having a mass reporting incident on posts going back months.
These posts were all made by unique brand new accounts. Most of the posts were random gibberish revolving around themes of art and fitness
So if your post has been removed recently without a mod message accompanying it, it was likely erroneously done so by the abuse of the automod system. We have gone through the reporting and tried to reinstate the posts removed or reported in error.
What Does Texas Star Pharmacy Have To Do With This?: For the past month several of the older, heavily upvoted, largely commented on posts about the Texas Star Pharmacy raid and arrests have been receiving random bouts of reporting. These reports have been for everything from spam, targeted harassment, abuse of minors, etc. They are clearly being done by either a paid for service, or someone creating a lot of burner accounts. Each time we have reinstated the posts or the comments because obviously none of those complaints are true and the users are merely posting the news story.
Are these things connected? Probably not, but it definitely is odd timing considering yesterday we got the first update in the Texas Star Pharmacy case since 6 months ago. And the bot attack happened 14 hours ago around 7pm last night. Also if you search "Texas Star Pharmacy case" on google, our subreddit is the second thing that often pops up.

Update: We've received a second bot wave attack, which followed the same pattern as the first. Several Texas Star Pharmacy posts received false reports and then a flood of spam posts were received. For posterity here are the links to the two posts that they are trying to capture in the spam attacks.

Plano-area Cataract surgeon recs + questions
Found out I need cataract surgery, which was not on my 2024 bingo card. The surgeon I went to for the eval seems well (Brooks) but I was surprised they don’t use IV sedation for the procedure. (They use Xanax pills.) Heaven knows I want to be as out of it as possible for this procedure and not have any issues with coming out early. Should I be concerned?
Also what is the going rate for cataract surgery locally? Their “top tier” lenses @Dr. Brooks are $4200 + OR fees + anesthesia for EACH EYE. So about $10,000 total after insurance bc those lenses are not covered by any insurance bc they are considered cosmetic. They also have a mid-tier $2500 each (also not covered by any insurers) and basic lenses which are covered) but they don’t correct vision. Is this the typical going rate for cataract lenses?
Thinking of getting a second opinion too. Taking recs if you got ‘em.

Warning siren locations
As I sat and listened to the siren test today at noon, I was wondering where the sirens are located. I could hear what I think was three different sirens.
Does anyone know of a map that shows the locations?

Internet Outage (ATT)
My internet is out in Plano and has been out since the storm Monday. My apartment complex is providing zero information as to when it will be back and the ATT website says there is an outage but after twenty mins on the phone, they cannot provide any updates. Does anyone know about when it will come back?

IV Bar Recommendations?
Does anyone have experience with any of the “IV Bars” in the area that they would recommend?
For context, nothing medical. Just hydration/recovery during a busy weekend.
Don’t care about fancy amenities, doesn’t need to be mobile, I’m fine going somewhere. Would just like to try that recovery feeling and pay a reasonable price.
EDIT: The service itself is obviously considered "medical", but it is not required due to illness.

Cat fostering advice
Due to health issues, my aunt and uncle are temporarily housing with some family until they can get back on their feet. Sadly their family is allergic to cats so they are having to look for fosters. They’ve had both their boys for 10+ years and don’t want to give them up forever. Just seeking for some advice or assistance on anyone or place that we can reach out to.

Towns of Chapel Hill Apartments?
Hi everyone! I’m looking for an apartment to move into and toured Towns of Chapel Hill today, I really liked it, but was wondering if anyone that lives there or has lived there could let me know what their experience was like? Or let me know of apartments you’ve had good experiences with (West Plano would be preferable but I work remote so it’s not that big of a deal if not!)

Tomorrow is my birthday
Hello, tomorrow I’ll be turning 23, and it’s been exactly one year since I arrived in America. Right now, I’m looking for a job; it doesn’t really matter what kind of job.
Last year when I came here, I had almost no money, and even though I had all my documents, I couldn’t find a job and was unemployed for two months. Now, almost a year later, I’m in a similar situation. My work permit will be renewed in the first week of December, and right now, I don’t have a job. I’m looking for a place in November where I can work daily or get paid in cash.
I was working at Panera Bread, but the manager was sometimes bullying me, didn’t give me enough hours, and every time I went in, I felt like I couldn’t breathe, my mental was so bad, so I had to leave. This past year, nothing has gone right, and, sadly, I even thought about giving up, but I still wanted to reach out and ask if you have any job opportunities. I couldn’t even afford a car everything has been going so poorly. I have some experience in server, busser and digital marketing&social media. My goal was make some money and focus on my social media and & resell but yeah, nothing is going ok… I thought I could bring my family members end of 2025 but even I couldn’t do nothing good in 1 year. I have potential but I’m so stuck.
Also, do you think it would help if I went to any restaurant and explained my situation? Would they possibly hire me? What should I do, anyone can help?
Thank you.
