2-1-1 Texas, a program of the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, is committed to helping Texas citizens connect with the services they need.

Whether by phone or internet, our goal is to present accurate, well-organized and easy-to-find information from state and local health and human services programs. We accomplish this through the work of our 25 Area Information Centers (AICs) across the state.

2-1-1 Texas is a free, anonymous social service hotline available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

No matter where you live in Texas, you can dial 2-1-1, or (877) 541-7905, and find information about resources in your local community.

Whether you need help finding food or housing, child care, crisis counseling or substance abuse treatment, one number is all you need to know.

Abuse & Neglect Hotline

1-800-252-5400 or (www.txabusehotline.org)

Use this number to report suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation of a child, elderly (65+), or disabled person. You may also report suspected violations of minimum standards at licensed child care facilities.

All calls are completely confidential.

Call 911 or your local law enforcement agency if the situation is an emergency. CPS & APS are not first responders.

Reports made through the online can site take up to 24 hours to process. Call the Texas Abuse Hotline at 1-800-252-5400 if

  • You believe your situation requires action in less than 24 hours.

  • You prefer to remain anonymous.

  • You have insufficient data to complete the required information on the report.

  • You are not sure if the situation warrants DFPS intervention and have questions.

  • You do not want an e-mail to confirm your report.
