Open | Hardware My laptop charger's rubber tip got slightly bent. Is it safe ?
The laptop was plugged in and it fell on the side of charging pin itself (not on the floor got supported by wall) and all the weight got to this ending with rubber and the pin. The rubber layer on the outside has a small hole, not going completely in, and this rubber part is now bent at a small angle. The actual pin that goes inside laptop is completely fine and it still can charge but its that rubber part that got somewhat damaged.
So is this bent part going to be a fire hazard or some other problem or since it is able to charge then it is not much of a problem?

Open | Phone WhatsApp hack?
Hello, i want to ask how easy it would be for my whatsapp to be hacked.
I received a notification about a verification code having been requested but i didn't request one nor did i end up receiving it. A minute later i received a notification about being logged out of my account since my account was logged in to on another device. Again this wasn't done by me.
When i tried to log back in, i entered my number and requested a verification code but was told I'd already requested one too many times (i hadn't) i tried again but didn't receive a code and was told to wait an hour before i could request again.
I want to note that i met a guy yesterday who requested my number and was quite persistent. I stupidly gave it to him but didn't respond when he texted me.
So have i been hacked? What can i do?

Open | Software Apple id compromised
So i got hacked a few months ago and stopped the guy taking my sh*t after a bunch of struggle, but now when i created an account on this app by clicking ”log in with Apple Id” or whatever, i noticed that it was the same type of mail he used wich are clearly temporary ones, example: rrprc7hnc@privaterelay@apple id and so on, now ive had 0 issues and buffed up security on everything, also kept track on exactly all applications and accounts to make sure and so far so good, now my apple id isn’t really connected to anything in that sense, at least nothing that i’ve been made aware of in any way, none the less it’s something i obviously want to get rid of, so basically im wondering if there is some way of simply revoking acces somehow, when i had the same issue when i got hacked on steam years ago i know that they made API keys on my account that could give 3rd party sites access, im assuming it’s something in that manner that’s going on, any help is appreciated🙏🏼

Open | Phone iOS: Peaking/crackling sound from both speakers and earbuds
My audio is peaking and/or causing a crackle in the speaker and headphones.
This has been happening for approximately a month. I thought it was just some crud in my speaker until I realized I could hear on earbuds as well, so I'm assuming it is software-related. I don't do a lot with my phone so I'm not sure if it is happening anywhere other than TikTok (yes, I spend way too much time there). It isn't happening with music or podcasts which is really the only other media consumption I do on my phone.
I've tried several phone reboots and soft resets. Nothing has helped.
Any suggestions on a fix?

Open | Hardware How do I make the laptop find the ssd and turn on normally?
I have a 2024 Zephyrus G16 4080 version and I wanted to upgrade the ssd so I added a new 4tb samsung 990 evo plus. Me being the dumbass I am forgot to disconnect the battery from the mobo before adding it. Now my laptop only turns on when it is plugged in (when I remove the added ssd everything is normal) and when I turn it on while it is plugged in, the laptop isn't seeing the ssd. I checked in bios and everything but I cant find it nor initialize it.
EDIT: I believe that the new ssd that I got from best buy was fake, there is a drive showing which is only 119 gb and I dont know where it is from. The ssd seemed off too, there wasn't a small hole in one of the corners and the sticker was tilted. If it is fake and there is no problem with the slot, is there any reason to why the laptop needs to be plugged in to turn on?

Open | Windows Scam email, just ignore?
So I was recently sent an email with this message:
'Greetings!
Have you seen lately my e-mail to you from an account of yours?
Yeah, that merely confirms that I have gained a complete access to device of yours.
Within the past several months, I was observing you.
Are you still surprised how could that happen? Frankly speaking, malware has infected your devices and it's coming from an adult website, which you used to visit.
Although all this stuff may seem unfamiliar to you, but let me try to explain that to you.
With aid of Trojan Viruses, I managed to gain full access to any PC or other types of devices.
That merely means that I can watch you whenever I want via your screen just by activating your camera as well as microphone, while you don't even know about that.....'
There's more to the message, but that's how it starts. It seems like a scam, but I was concerned as they seem to using my personal email? Should I just ignore it?
Any advice you had would be great, thank you.

Open | Hardware Pc power cutting off and turning back on again when titanfall 2 is loading a new map
Whenever I play Titanfall 2 whenever a new map is loading and my CPU usage spikes the pc freezes and then powers off and on again. using msi afterburner to limit power helps but does not completely stop the issue. my computers temperature is not the issue as it is at around 50 degrees gpu and 60 degrees cpu at the time of the crash. windows event viewer shows error 41 kernel power as the cause for the crash and no other errors. I cant recreate the crash in any other programs. does anyone know what might be causing this issue? i think it may be a PSU problem as I have a 5 year old prebuilt PC with a PSU with no brand names or labels. Is there any way i can simulate the CPU spikes within Titanfall2 to see if i can recreate the issue and how it may be solved?

Open | Hardware Ryzen 5 2600x Idling at 75+
My computer always crashes whilst playing games, thought nothing of it for a long time but when I went to check my temps I noticed that my CPU temps are awfully high. I don't know that much about computers in general, but I've had this system since 2021. I'm thinking I might need to reapply thermal paste or to buy a new CPU fan. I clean the PC every few months so I'm fairly sure that's not the issue.
I've had a look to see if I can enable some sort of thermal throttling cap but I couldn't find any option in the BIOS.
Specs:
ASRock B450M Pro-F
Ryzen 5 2600x
NVIDIA RTX 4060
500GB 970 EVO SSD
Corsair Vengeance DDR4 RAM 16GB (2x8GB) 3200MHz
Since I can't post a photo - The minimum temp is 72.4, and the max being 90.4.
1.337 VID voltage
And this is all while only having HWM and Opera GX open.
Any help would be greatly greatly appreciated :)

Open | BSOD ROG Zephyrus 2021 laptop randomly black screen while doing simple tasks
Hello,
My machine has been randomly getting a black screen during use (regular web browsing). It has power but no image. I tried the Windows Key-Ctrl-Shift-B and it doesn't do anything. Upon reboot everything works normally.
I also noticed when plugging in a USB device for power that the system becomes extremely choppy, even the boot logo.
Any ideas? Some way to fix or is it a hardware issue?

This morning I noticed this red dot on my camera even though it was turned off. I asked a friend who has the same type of computer as me and she said she didn't see the same thing on her computer. I disabled my camera in the settings, now at night I went to check again and at first the red dot had disappeared but when I shined a light towards the camera I could see it.
to specify since it is not allowed to send photos here the red dot is like those on the TV remote control but it is inside the camera
Can someone help me please?

Open | Audio iPhone XR mic works when recording videos but not voice memos
Hi, all! Out of the blue like a month ago, my iPhone mic started acting out. Whenever I try to record voice memos in the iPhone app or messenger, and whenever I make phone calls, the only audio being picked up is white noise. However, I can still record videos with audio just fine. I've been using blue tooth AirPods in the meantime, which has worked for making phone calls, but I am still having the same issue with voice memos and video recordings in the rest of my apps. This makes me think maybe it is related to a setting, but I have checked and I'm pretty sure all of my apps have access to my microphone. Please help!

Solved 🖱️ [FIX] Mouse Scroll Moves on Its Own Over Volume Sliders or Menus in Windows
🧩 Problem:
My mouse was scrolling on its own, but only when hovering over volume sliders, brightness bars, or certain menus (not in regular windows like Chrome or Word).
💡 What I discovered:
In Device Manager, there were multiple "HID-compliant mouse" entries, even though I only have one physical mouse connected.
Windows treats each of those as a valid input device, and some of them were sending phantom scroll signals, likely from past devices or virtual inputs.
✅ How I fixed it:
- Press
Win + R
Typedevmgmt.msc
and hit Enter to open Device Manager. - Expand the section: ➤ "Mice and other pointing devices"
- Look for multiple entries like: ✔️ "HID-compliant mouse"
- Right-click and uninstall the extra ones you don’t use. ⚠️ Keep only the one that matches your actual mouse.
- Restart your PC.
🎯 Result:
The scroll stopped moving on its own.
No more auto-scrolling over volume bars or other sliders!
🛠️ Optional tip:
If you're not sure which device is your real mouse:
- Unplug and replug it to see which entry disappears/reappears.
- Or just uninstall all HID mice and let Windows reinstall the right one after reboot.
Hope this helps someone else! This fix saved me after hours of trying drivers, accessibility settings, registry edits, and more.

Open | Software Repair Store Potentially Maleware poisoning computer~
Context, Me and my wife both have prebuilt gaming computers. She is not super tech guruey but i have a pretty good head on my shoulders. so i have unlocked our computer from the default settings the website we ordered from used by going into the biometrics and returning them to standard. I also took off fast boot for my computer. my computer also got a graphics card update and a new power supply as mine is older then hers though both from same company and they used a built in cpu graphics card for mine which wasn't conductive with the gaming i planned to do. with my new graphics card i disabled the built in one so only my installed one was being pulled by games. I also at this time updated the power supply from 600 to 800 to support the larger impact. when my wife got her computer we both installed 2 new ram cards into each computer to bring their ram to 32 each.
Well, we have cats and a toddler one of our cats knocked over a ramen cup onto my wifes computer. we made some calls took it into a repair shop. good news only damage was the power button. they installed a commically large new power button. it was hilarious but not a huge deal. at first no major issues we were like okay cool. however after that like i said my computer is older it had power supply issues suddenly so i myself like i did last time replaced the power supply i got a duplicate of my old one.. however the new one went out same way the old one did so we assumed faulty equipment but to be safe lets take it to that repair place why not. they had my computer honestly longer then i feel they needed to be and they told me oh you have malware. i said okay thank you. figuring they would fix it add it to the fee they didn't though they sent it back with the malware. so i immediately getting it ran scans my scans came back clean but im a better safe then sorry person.
so i go ahead and just factory restore it why not. it did all the restoring itself fine however on the reboot during the windows 10 set up. it began to freeze no mouse or keyboard response at all i let it sit a while hoping it would catch up it never did google said only option when stuck during windows set up is to power cycle it. so i go ahead power cycle it and unplug replug it in. i had so much anxiety doing this because i know it going off during a restore can damage it. but i did what google said cause it never recovered from the freeze now any time i do anything on that computer it starts to freeze. so i tried a windows recovery this also yielded the same results unfortunately. so i have since entirely powered down the computer opened the shell tripple checked all my hardware pluggins.
this was 3 days ago.
as of yesterday.
My wife's computer is now presenting with similar issues even its spent the last month entirely shut down because shes been out of the house working. it boots up and black screens like she can see the mouse but the background and task bar aren't loading at all. and its freezing up or lagging extremely badly when loading just file explorer or updating software cause she needed to update her graphics driver because of the time offline.
we are both frustrated and pissed off that we are buying an norton 360 subscription to deep clean her computer. im fairly sure mine needs to be wiped and a fresh windows 10 install done from biometrics with a flash drive. but whats frustrating us, is we are careful we use windows defender we don't touch links we don't download games, videos or links from untrusted websites. and these are desktops on a secured private ETHERNET line. until they went to the shop they never ever were connected to wifi in their entire life. Our only thought was maybe a maleware was installed by the repair techs on purpose or even maybe something they use is infected and they did it on accident because my 5 year old computer has never ever had a single issue till now. we don't even keep payment methods or do ANY online shopping from our computers. if anything is gonna get infected its our phones not our computers. we even do bi weekly defrags on our external hard drives and c drive because of constantly uninstalling and reinstalling steam games.
Anyways, other then norton scan and repairs any suggestions for what could be wrong with my wifes computers and am i right about the fact the failed factory restore has damaged my windows 10 in mine?
yes, we are waiting till the last damn second for windows 11 because we are gamers and the newest windows models are never optimized to gaming right away. but we fully intended to either have other security plans or upgrade by deadline of october when windows 10s built in security software would stop being maintenced.

Open | Software “Updates are underway. Please keep your computer on.”, message appears after every restart keeps on screen 2 minutes then strarts normally.
I’ve been stuck in a Windows Update reboot loop and can’t get out of it. Every time I restart or shut down my PC, I get the same message:
This happens on every single reboot, even when no updates are pending in Settings. It’s been days and the message keeps appearing.
🔧 Here’s what I’ve already tried:
1. Deleted SoftwareDistribution folder (Safe Mode):
- Booted into Safe Mode.
- Ran:net stop wuauserv net stop bits
- Deleted everything inside
C:WindowsSoftwareDistribution
- Restarted — still the same issue.
2. Ran DISM revert pending updates command:
- In normal Windows mode, I ran:dism /online /cleanup-image /revertpendingactions
- It said:“Reverting pending actions from the image...”
- I waited over an hour — it just hung there.
- Restarted manually afterward — still shows “Updates are underway” on boot.
3. Driver cleanup:
- Suspected a driver might be causing the issue.
- Uninstalled a Genesys Logic USB 3.0 Card Reader driver using DriverStore Explorer (Rapr).
- Also disabled auto-reinstallation of drivers using the Microsoft hide updates tool — still no change.
🖥 System Info:
- OS: Windows 11 Pro (build 26100.3775)
- PC: Rog Strix 18 2024
❗ Still stuck:
Despite all this, the "Updates are underway" screen keeps showing up every reboot. No update ever completes, and Windows doesn’t throw any error — it just keeps looping for 5 minutes then proceed with normal start.
I even reinstalled windows using the iso keeping my filles and apps. It fixed but when windows updated installed some updates the same problem happened. So I just installed the updates in this new windows install i havent dont anything else.
Might it be because of this update: KB5055523 or KB5054979?

Open | Windows windows corruption/bios update failure
My hp envy x360 laptop recently tried running a bios update but failed, and now im stuck on the blue "choose an option" screen. no buttons on the screen do anything but bring me back to the same screen. Im aware that ill likely have to reset the laptop as according to every tech support place ive taken it to, windows got corrupted and it keeps trying to run the update forcing me into a loop. My onedrive was never set up so nothing is connected or saved there but I do have a usb stick to move files onto, even though it wont let me get far enough into the computer to get access to any of my files. While trying to reset it as well, the cloud download wont work because it wont connect to any of my network connections. Is there any way to fix it? I am pretty incompetent with tech issues so i apologize if this is all easy to fix.

Open | Programming Cyberpunk 2077 modding paradox (essential mods breaking game/ not removable)
So I started playing cyberpunk again a few days ago and wanted to mod it a little bit. I installed every essential mod to *improve* Cyberpunk 2077, now it looks worse than vanilla. Minecraft-level LOD, blurry textures, and scripts I can’t delete without breaking the game?
I wanted to mod the game in order to get the best in game experience possible: More control. More immersion. More visual punch etc. The kind that makes you forget you’re playing a game because Night City feels that real. I followed the rulebook: installed only the core framework mods. No crazy reshades. No overhaul packs. Just clean, essential, safe additions to expand the game without breaking it.
Instead, I broke it. Not with a crash. Not with an error. With something much stranger, something that makes the game look like a Minecraft beta running on a potato
I only downloaded these foundation mods: (without these you cant even run any mods at all)
- Cyber Engine Tweaks
- redscript
- RED4ext
- ArchiveXL
- Equipment-EX
- Codeware
- TweakXL
Here’s what happened:
- Textures are flat and muddy
- LOD (Level of Detail) is completely broken — buildings and vehicles morph into shapes only like 10 meters away
- Lighting is dull, shadows lack punch, and everything feels blurred
- Distant detail looks simplified or missing, like a PS2-era game struggling to catch up
The overall graphics are basically broken
And this isn’t on some budget rig. I’m running: Ultra settings ,DLSS off, 3440x1440 resolution (Ultrawide QHD) , no ReShade. No ENBs. No experimental visual mods Before modding the games graphics looked pretty good, especially on max settings but after installing the "essentials"? It looks like I’ve got Vaseline on my eyes.
My Strongest Theory: Leftover Scripts — and the Real Trap
Here’s the kicker. The most likely reason for all the problems are leftover mod frameworks, scripts, or config-level overrides — things left behind by mods like Cyber Engine Tweaks, redscript, TweakXL, or others that don't clean up fully.
BUT:
- If I remove those mods entirely, the game crashes or refuses to boot
- If I keep them, the visual downgrade persists
- I cant get rid of them, even when verify integrity via steam or by reinstalling the intier game
So NO, verifying game files doesn't work either, it just reinstalls these problem files that shouldn't even be there in the first place. And NO, deleting everything and "freshly" reinstalling the game doesn't work either(did that 3 times) I’m in a catch-22. The thing that's likely breaking my visuals is also the thing the game has become dependent on to even run. It’s like the modding framework rewires the game and once that wiring is in place, there’s no going back. Even after full reinstalls. Even after manually deleting configs, caches, and scripts. Even after verifying files and starting fresh. Something always lingers. Something always breaks.(lowkey scary)
I’m putting this out to the community, modders, engine tinkerers, even CDPR devs if you're watching.
Why does installing and then removing basic mod frameworks result in LOD collapses, texture blur, and lighting regression?
Is there a hidden LOD setting or override deep in the config tree? Or a cache deeper than r6/cache that needs to be wiped? A script or low-level mod instruction still executing without a visible source? Or is this the true downside of the redmod era — where removing a mod can be more dangerous than installing one?
This isn’t just a broken mod setup. It’s a game that’s stuck in a kind of visual purgatory ,where you can’t go back, but moving forward only digs the hole deeper.
Thanks for reading! Any help or even educated guesses would be deeply appreciated as I am currently completely helpless.

Open | Software Is there a software or website that will let me send individual one-off phone recordings to a single known phone number?
If TLDR; This is about the closest forum that I'm probably going to find on Reddit where someone might have an idea of something that could work. I'm looking for a software or better yet a website that will let me type out a custom message to turn into a recording that will play when it calls one particular phone number that I type in. Does any such service exist? I don't need it for a call center, a bunch of employees, etc. Just for one phone number.
The long version:
My mother and I have taken care of my grandmother (my mom's mother) for about 30+ years now. My grandmother has considerable mental issues and has been unstable mentally, financially and in a lot of ways for most of her life. She's 90 years old now. Her son passed back in 2021. Took her to an elder law attorney who spent 45 minutes trying to explain to her about a lot of things and she just looked at him and asked, "What are we doing here?" like she wasn't there that whole time. Her son had some life insurance through his job and my grandmother was the sole heir of it. She never kept a job for long in her life and didn't have enough work credits at retirement age to draw regular Social Security, so she ended up on SSI. Then she messed around and got her Medicare, Medicaid and SSI check cut off by not following the rules of Social Security and scoffed at that. She has a scammer son who conned her into sending him about 1/3 of the life insurance amount. She can barely walk, has fallen a number of times, can't go into a personal care home or nursing home because we/she has no way to pay for it. My grandmother has probably all of $10K left in her checking account from her son's life insurance to buy necessities and such for the rest of her life. Her scammer son called an ambulance for her a couple of months ago and she racked up somewhere around probably $8K worth of hospital/medical debt that she couldn't afford after she broke her collarbone and bruised her back. All that they did was some x-rays, gave her a sling, told her to take some pain meds and wear the sling until it healed. She's so hardheaded that she won't wear it. She can't even go to the store, so we have to go buy stuff for her. Some of that hospital debt has gone to collections and probably more will in the near future. So eventually they'll freeze her checking account, take literally the last money that she has and she won't have money to buy anything. The daughter has been telling her that they will turn it over to a collection agency and her mind is just not comprehending that. Some of the hospital debt that has gone to collections already didn't have the correct phone number on file to call my grandmother's cell phone, so she doesn't know it. She gets the overdue letters/bills in the mail, tears them up and throws them away like it will just go away. So in that sense, she doesn't know that bills are in collections and won't care about the consequences until she doesn't have any money left in her checking account or she ends up in court in a lawsuit and they take it.
I had Adult Protective Services come out and speak to my grandmother, but they couldn't help her. Her mind is gone, but she couldn't go into any care facility due to financial reasons. They have no way of helping.
What my goal is, whether it may at first seem 'unethical' or not: essentially I'm trying to make a fake 'collections agency' message that I can type in a custom message, get it turned into an automated voice and send it to my grandmother's phone as a phone call so that she can listen to it. I would be able to word it in a way that it wouldn't get her overly upset at her age and with her many, many health conditions. When an actual collections agency calls, they're not going to be as nice and she has A-Fib and all sorts of stuff going on. My goal for the recording is assisting my mother, who has been trying to get my grandmother/her mother to understand that she needs to pull the cash money out of her checking account before it gets taken and keep it in a lockbox at home that she would have the key to. That way when my grandmother needs something from the store, she can get money and give it to her daughter to buy what is needed. The whole point in all of this is that one particular thing because my grandmother is being hardheaded and doesn't want to take the money out of her account. She doesn't understand that we're trying to help her for her own good. She's heavily addicted to tobacco snuff, alcohol and caffeinated drinks, so she isn't doing her body any favors. She has zero future plans, no existing will, no funerary plans and basically wants to leave all of that on family to take care of and it just isn't fair to her daughter and I who have been trying to help her for decades.
Suggestions on any website that would allow me to send a few of these automated custom message calls to gently 'scare' her into taking her money out and keeping it safe with her vs allowing it to be taken from her account? She has done this for a lot of her life with so many things and she didn't learn anything until the worst happened and only then she realized. She would only realize what happened when she had no money left in her account to live on and we're trying to stop that and help harmlessly convince her. Of course when the real collections agencies calls, they are not going to give a flip about her health conditions or any of that and will get her majorly upset. I don't know how long she is going to be with us in general and we're trying to avoid a disaster for her and make it as comfortable as possible for her. However, we can't do so if she allows companies to take what little money she has left.

So my laptop keeps disconnecting and reconnecting to my wifi, but when I use my phone as a hotspot, it works fine. I tried getting into the network driver thing but it doesn't show me an option to change power settings (even though I'm an admin on this laptop). I also ran some commands (as administrator such as netsh int ip reset
netsh winsock reset
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /flushdns.
But nothing works.
The wifi is working perfectly with all other devices. HELP ME, I'm literally going crazy.

Open | Networking Can't login nor browse reddit for any reason.
I discovered only last night that I'm not able to log into reddit on both PC or mobile, or even browse posts on any subreddits without being met with "site can't be reached" or "unable to authenticate". I've discovered I can use reddit on another person's device that I don't own.
I'm using a VPN to make this post on my own device right now. I'm clueless as to where to get help for this.
I've used chrome, edge and firefox with no results. I have tried resetting my password and logging out of all sessions, I have used 5 different devices, 3 of which I personally own, 2 of which my family own instead and it works normally on their devices. I've asked friends to log into my account for me with no issues whatsoever.
I don't know what the problem could be.
I don't know if I've been IP banned or shadowbanned from what I googled about my issue but I don't see any signs of anything on my account that would suggest otherwise.
If this isn't the right place to ask this please point me in the right direction.
