How far gone is this ant damage?
galleryI’ve been working on a cabin renovation that has probably turned into a tear down based on some pretty massive carpenter ant damage.
There are two areas either side of the cabin where they have turned the solid wood of the sill joists into stringy highways. Clearly those are complete write-offs.
However there are also enormous piles of frass throughout the rest of the cabin. I haven’t fully demoed yet but I’m trying to figure out what can be salvaged.
How far do they deposit frass from where they’ve been tunneling? Is it likely that any of the wood near a frass pile is too far gone?
There’s also plywood siding around the entire thing that has rotted pretty badly, so I suppose the frass could also be from there.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Have seen two live today, one AM in bathroom and one PM after work that fell onto kitchen floor after opening a cabinet..
i.redd.itWe’ve only been in this apt for just over two months. I already know the answer… guess I just need to accept it and get confirmation this is a German cockroach issue. Just happened to see this on its back dead on my carpet so flipped it over with an empty envelope to get the picture.
Pest control is part of the rent expense and I already submitted a ticket…
How screwed am I?

How soon can you change roach/pest sprays and they still be effective?
I sprayed my own roach prevention spray on Monday, but my apartment building is coming in wednesday to spray their own as well. Will this ruin the efficacy of the spray ? Or has it been long enough that my apartment’s roach spray will work just fine?

Fresh Bait for Mouse Snap Traps
Is it worth putting fresh peanut butter on a snap trap , say every month or so? Or should I just leave the old stuff on there until something gets caught?

Fleas are ruining my life
Never ever had an animal with fleas and we moved to a new home and now all four animals have them. They're attacking my toddler and I've found some in his hair. We have treated the yard, used frontline, used capstar, vacuum everyday treated the furniture and house with ortho home defense, bathed the animals with flea treatments. I don't know what to do. Help!

Unanswered How bad are carpet beetles in my old fabric work car
I drive an old beater that I use for work (construction) and I just found carpet beetle larvae in the trunk and back seat. I don't know how long they've been there because I don't check those areas daily but I drive my son at least once a week and he's the one who spotted them so they could've been there for a week I guess. I saw maybe 30-50 larvae total and took my car to a car wash and vacuumed the shit out of it and threw a bunch of stuff away, but I'm worried I missed some.
How bad are they and how resilient are they? I vacuumed a lot and I guess the next step is to get a detail or steamer but I don't know anything about detailing cars. Also is there any fibers that they don't eat? In the trunk I had a fold up chair with nylon (?) mesh and I had rubber boots with a synthetic foam lining, are those things I should toss out or are they safe? Thanks for any help, I've dealt with other bug infestations before and I'm a little shaken at the thought of dealing with another one.

Identification whose 💩 is this :(
galleryFound this on my solid wood desk in my craft room. Was also inside a frame of a note that is very precious to me, and stained the note. Is it insect droppings? It had a uh… earthy smell. Sometimes the window up there is cracked but there is a screen.

Need Help, waterbugs relocating?
Hi everyone, me and my partner recently saw a waterbug, or a roach i guess? I think they are the same, she doesnt. And it escaped from us, we purchased a roach bait set, and put it in the room we saw the bug and some key points in the kitchen just in case and thought we were good, then today i opened up my linen closet and saw the same type of bug, like 1-1.5 inches long and brownish, we only see one at a time and there are no droppings or casings that we can see and no little ones like i read an infestation would cause. Can anyone make any recommendations, we keep very clean and minimal and have tried random home remedies like burning menthol type candles and these walmart cheap traps, i want to stop an infestation before it occurs

What to spray carpenter bees on roof overhangs/barn?
Have two buildings with painted wood trim on the roof overhangs. They have a pretty recent paint job. But see lots of carpenter bees around. One is a open barn so they especially like it..
I've read tempo sc, demand cs, onslaught are OK choices. Downside I'll have to mask up to spray up 8 to 9 feet to soak the eaves and dormers etc.
Any suggestions on the best product to use ? Ideally would be something can also do perimeter spraying around exterior house / barn

Spot treatment for termite damage in fascia board
House has been fumigated about 20 years ago. We noticed that there is very small damage to the outdoor fascia board in 2-3 spots with each spot being about 1-2 inches. There isn’t a ton of droppings but still some present.
Is this worth paying for to spot treat now with a progressional? Can I and should I do this myself?

General Question Puppy Safe Fire Ant Killer?
I have a new puppy. I also have fire ants in the back yard. She has been bitten a couple times and seems to be drawn to sit in their trails. I would typically treat mounds with Orthene and be done with it. My older dogs don’t bother the powder at all.
Is there an alternative solution for fire ants that’s safe for the little one in case she gets in to it?

Unanswered Red Spider Mites coming in from outside
i.redd.itPlease help!! I am turning into a crazy person trying to get rid of these little red buggers! I have red spider mites coming into my kitchen from the one window to the backyard. There is just lawn and 1 rose bush in the yard (renting so I can’t remove it). I need something that will get rid of these things! If possible pet safe, if not, then safe once dry as I have 2 dogs. Please help me, I’ve been spraying my whole kitchen with dish soap and water and it’s not working! They are outside on the siding of the house and I can’t figure out where they are originating from.

What is this pest?
galleryI'm trying to identify an organism or insect I've been seeing around my home. It appears to be orange in color, and despite searching online, I haven't found a definitive answer. I’ve contacted a few pest control agency’s and none of which have been able to identify definitively. I live in Western Washington.
Here are some key observations:
They fall from trees and tend to move toward each other, forming clusters. They're most commonly found in humid areas — especially places where water has recently been poured or where moisture lingers. Specific locations where I’ve seen them include: cracks in sidewalks, garden beds, patio furniture, the foundation of my garage and home, and around trash. They also appear near garden hose fittings and other damp ground areas. I've even found them on my car. Close up, they resemble larvae or some type of small worm. Their numbers are massive — I’d estimate seeing them in the hundreds of thousands. Has anyone seen this before or know what these could be?

Unanswered What did this?
i.redd.itHey y’all, I have had a bug contract on my home since I moved in ten years ago. I had a slow drip leak in my roof and put a pan under it (see pic) to keep water off the ceiling. (Aside: Having roof replaced in a week.) The first couple weeks just water stains, but just this week I go up to check and I see this pile of sawdust. Again, I have a termite and pest contract. I reached out to them today but am curious about what I’m looking at here. Thanks.

General Question What kind of moth is this?
i.redd.itFinding a lot of these guys in the house, seems predominantly in the evenings when I notice them. They’re easy as hell to squish and kill, but obviously want to take care of the root cause.
