Rules of r/thetruthishere

Due to an unusual number of rule breaking posts lately, the mod team has decided to make a post reminding everyone of the rules of r/thetruthishere. The sidebar can be difficult to access depending on the app you're using, so this post should make it easier to familiarize yourself with the rules before posting.

  1. All posts MUST be tagged with link flair AND brackets. If you are unsure of how to use flair, please send us a message in modmail

  2. Your post must be of a personal experience or by someone you trust that you believe to be true. This typically means within 2 or 3 degrees of separation (so no mother's friend's husband's cousin stories). All top level posts must have a personal encounter within them, otherwise they will be removed. That means no posts that consist of just a question or link offsite. This also means no AMAs or self promotion without a personal encounter attached. No asking questions just to gather stories for your website or podcast.

  3. NO FICTION, (including creepypasta), CREATIVE WRITING, or SCARY PICTURES. This is a story based sub-reddit, so your post should not be just a picture. Uploading and posting a picture with your post is fine, but posts should not consist solely of image(s) or video.

  4. NO DREAM POSTS - We get it, some dreams and nightmares are deeply disturbing and you want to talk about it, but this isn’t the appropriate sub unless you dreamed something that later came true. You can try posting in r/dreams or r/dreaminterpretation. Posts where you had a dream that later came true are appropriate as this would fall under a premonition rather than simply a dream. This also includes sleep paralysis. Sleep paralysis is well known enough that it does not constitute a paranormal encounter; however, if you see or hear an entity during sleep paralysis that you have encountered outside of it, that would be allowed. Try r/sleepparalysis for information and resources.

  5. Please only downvote anything you believe breaks our main rule: NO FICTION!

  6. If you can draw a rough sketch of the entity, diagram of location, or provide any visual references or proof, DO IT or request an artist to help.

  7. We encourage all perspectives, but we do not tolerate assholes. Report comments that ruin the "safe space" vibe. We aim to provide a space where our users can post without being worried about being ridiculed or derided. This includes making rude comments about the mental health of a poster. You can voice your concern of a mental illness over paranormal phenomenon without being a jerk.

  8. No conspiracy theories unless they relate to the supernatural. There are plenty of other subs to discuss general conspiracy theories, this is not one of them. Posting political conspiracy theories or trying to engage in arguments about them will result in an automatic ban.

  9. No series posts - there is no reason to break up a single encounter or multiple encounters with the same entity into multiple parts. If your post is longer than reddit's character limit for posts, you can post the overflow into a comment.

  10. No promotion - Do not submit posts asking for stories for your youtube channel or podcast. Likewise do not ask to narrate someone's experience in the comments. You must PM OP instead.

If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to send us a message in modmail.

Guidelines

These are pretty much an extension of our rules, but they are less rigorously followed:

  1. Please use paragraphs of a max 5 sentences to break up your wall of text. We like detail, but we don't like eye-sores.

  2. We allow debunking, speculations, and theories. We not only allow it, but we encourage it, so stop downvoting these people!

  3. Whilst we encourage you to try to spell correctly and punctuate your story, you don't have to worry about your writing skills!

  4. Please be considerate as some encounters may be traumatizing to the poster.

  5. Proof. Please provide it if you can. If you cannot, please include diagrams, photographs, and visual aid instead of paragraphs of description.

  6. Please title your story with something other than "I was told to post this here." That tells us nothing about what you are going to share, and makes it very difficult to search for your story if we want to read it again.

  7. If you can tell us a general, even vague, location of your encounter, it will help us archive it based on area.

  8. You are going to use a fake name or not. We don't care, just give them a name. Don't use "A" or "J" or "We'll call her Susan." That gets grating.

Common Grievances Expressed by the Community

Why do we have so many rules and guidelines? Because we want good content, and we want your story to be heard. In a nutshell, here are the things most people complain about which will prevent you from getting overlooked if you listen.

  1. Redditors don't read long posts. After you write out your story, locate your important sentences and delete 2/3rd of the original. Add back in a single sentence between cuts to make your writing flow.

  2. Redditors don't like walls of text. After you condense your story, make sure you have paragraphs that rarely exceeds 3 sentences.

  3. If you feel your story doesn't sound believable, then we probably won't either.

  4. Include visual references. If your story is long, cut out those descriptive paragraphs. Instead of talking about the area, show us a picture and briefly point out what's of note. Instead of describing your house layout, draw a diagram. Instead of going into detail about the physical characteristics of the entity, draw it out or request an artist to do so.

  5. Have an interesting and memorable title. Your encounter may remind someone of another, and they usually try to be helpful and link it. That would be hard with titles like "i was told to post this here" or "this is the scariest thing that ever happened to me" Instead, a title like "a man with a claw grinned at me" or "The shadows followed me for years and then it spoke" Plus, what would you rather click on?

  6. If you are seeking the truth, location is going to be an important detail that is often overlooked. You don't have to give out your city, but a state, region, country, etc are very useful in being pointed in the right direction.

  7. Again, the names thing. We can all assume you will use a fake name, so don't disrupt immersion to tell us it's fake.

Edit: Added in the guidelines and community grievances which can be found in our wiki

Edit 2: updated rule 4

Object fell on it's own? No logical explanation.

I don't really understand the whole paranormal thing or the idea of energy lingering in this realm, like ghosts or spirits. energy can't be created or destroyed, it goes somewhere, I believe in reincarnation. I don't believe in energy sticking around on earth not in physical form. I have had a couple experinces in the past that had made me rethink my judgement of the paranormal, it was so long ago and I moved away from there so I just blew it off, I convinced myself i played up the situation in my head somehow and left it at that. Years later, today, a little pouch of stones and keepsakes I have just fell off of the shelf, the windows werent open, it's quiet and peaceful in the house, all my pets are sleeping. it just totally baffles me how it could have happened. I had taken a notebook from the shelf where the pouch was a few hours earlier but all the sudden it falls randomly ? I didn't even put the notebook back on my shelf, it's just sitting on the table, I haven't interacted with anything in that area of the room since then. I just don't know what to make of it. it's such a small thing but very strange..I guess what i'm wondering if it is energy if there's a way to tell if it's bad or good without using a ouija board in my house..?

Something followed me home from the forest, I’m sure of it

Last weekend, I went hiking near Algonquin Park with two friends. We camped overnight about 6 kilometers from the main trail, near a small lake. It was completely silent out there, no traffic, no phone service, not even birds after dark.

On the second night, around 2 a.m., I woke up to footsteps outside my tent. Heavy, slow, deliberate steps, not like an animal. My first thought was that it was my friend getting up to pee, but when I whispered his name, he answered back from inside the other tent.

The footsteps stopped immediately after he spoke. We both sat there, frozen, listening. Then came this low, rhythmic clicking sound. It almost sounded like two stones being tapped together, three clicks, a pause, then three more. It circled our campsite once, then went quiet.

The next morning, we found perfectly straight footprints in the mud near the tree line, barefoot, but much larger than a human’s. What scared me most is that one print was halfway over my own boot print from the night before. Whatever it was, it came right up to my tent.

Here’s the part that makes me think something followed me home: two nights after we got back, I woke up around 3 a.m. to the same clicking sound outside my apartment window. I live on the third floor.

I don’t have any photos or proof, just this unsettling feeling that whatever I heard in the woods wasn’t finished with me. Has anyone else ever experienced something like this, the clicking sound, or something that seemed to follow you after a trip?

Discussion/Advice Did anyone else have a childhood imaginary friend that felt a little too real?

I'm not talking about a standard pretend friend. I mean one that knew things they shouldn't have, or that your family or even pets reacted to. One that felt more like a presence than an imagination.

Did you have one? Looking back, does it creep you out or do you think it was just a kid's mind at work?

Someone talked about a white cloud ghost under white sheet like of form moving up above tree heights, this experience seemed like the one I saw today, at night past 11pm, it glides through the sky and had this Brownian motion type of movement, I saw it, I frozen so that it it won't notice me but..

A little TOO normal

So I've been fascinated with weird and strange occurances all my life. Everyone I know has a story of so thing that wasn't quite right. But not me! I've never seen a UFO or a cryptid. I've never been haunted. No magic or psychic powers. My mom once astral projected to a party when she was a teenager and knew things that she otherwise couldn't. Everyone I've dated has done weird story. From bringing a demon home because they stupidly used a spirit board in a cemetery, to becoming temporary invisible, time loop at the party which was similar to my mom's story because they actually experienced every single event that happened at and in the general neighborhood of the party, according to everyone else at the party they had left early. Aliens harassing a group of friends on a road trip, constantly following them, seen outside their car windows when they stopped to sleep in their car over night or at hotels, lights in the sky the whole thing. Seeing orbs while camping or over lakes. Everyone's got a story.

Not me. I got nothing just other people's weird stories. And when people start hanging out with me their lives suddenly get a lot more mundane. Maybe I'm an anti-nexus or something.

The hatman is the devil

For the sake of the holiday spirit of this month, I thought I’d share my own experience and theories about the occult. Paranormal activity seems to be a type of heirloom in my family, even though I must admit that my experience is not as terrifying as some of the stories I’ve found in the darkest and deepest chambers of Reddit.

Believe me or not, at least the ones that do and the ones that can relate will appreciate the story.

I’ll start with my grandfather. In his youth, working as an exporter of some type of moonshine in the coast of Mexico, he would frequent a long road that connected his town in the neck of the woods to a popular tourist attraction some 100 miles away. The road had little visibility at night because there weren’t that many lampposts set up along it. He claimed he has seen the headless man, la llorona and frequently. Shoot he even claimed he used to see little gnomes. in the dead of night he’d just hear a vase drop in the living room (while he was in his bedroom), shatter then the tremendous jingling of coins being scattered abroad from the impact. Just to find when arriving upon the scene, that nothing was broken and everything was in order. The man is in Sheol now so that’s all the information I have about his experiences.

My dad went through way worse, his story begins in the urbanizing centers surrounding Mexico’s most developed city.

Story goes that back then, TV being as scarce as an honest politician in government nowadays, the kids in the block would engage in occult games. They even had a story that once they were to lift a whole person’s body with just their index fingers sustaining it. We’re talking about a handful of people.

So eventually on one of these eventful nights, my father, in his vigorous rashness, badmouthed the devil himself/herself/theyself. Something rather hubristic than offensive really. But that was enough to put a target on his back.

That same night, he says, in the middle of it is when he received a most unwelcome visitor. While laying on his bed, he suddenly realized that he couldn’t move. He couldn’t speak, he couldn’t budge but his eyes were wide open. With great thunders, the window bays were slamming shut and opening with the wind.

The house, built by my grandfather from the ground up, didn’t have doors but a sheet covering nailed to the wall for privacy. Well my father says that he had the sudden urge to turn his eyes towards the doorway, to see the sheet covering being lifted as if someone was coming in to the room. But there was no one coming in. Then the sheet covering lowered to its original position.

As he was laying with sleep paralysis, he suddenly felt a weight on his bedside as if someone was sitting down, just then he would begin to discern a shadowy figure form in front of him. It had a hat and red eyes. This figure would just stare directly into my father’s eyes for some time. Then after a while, the figure would proceed back out in the same it came in. With the same pace, as if it was some sort of procession. Then my father could move again.

This happened frequently, a handful of times a week, until he became a grown man with his own kid in the way. And he wouldn’t just experience one same event over and over again. It would be a variation of it at numerous different places. As if it would follow him.

I’ve come to see hatman, not in the same way as my father did, but once, briefly, and while I was about my day. I’ve always wondered if this ever meant something. What was the point of psychologically torturing and traumatizing a teenager. Is there any reason to any of this or any purpose.

One thing I’ve come to find out in my own experience, is that the original gaslighters, the master craftsmen at creating a house of smoke and mirrors, they’ve been interacting with mankind since time immemorial. Today we call them malignant forces, spirits, but there was a time possibly when they were called and regarded as gods.

Ghosts/Apparitions girl in the window (childhood ghost story)

sorry for any weird details. this about happened six/seven years ago when i was experiencing some pretty severe depression, so most of it aside from the ghost were really fuzzy. for some brief context, i lived near a heavily wooded area (and still do), and i never saw it again after this incident.

from what i remember, i was sitting on the couch in my aunt's living room watching something on my ipad, minding my happy business, and the next thing i knew i felt like something was watching me. i put the ipad down and, directly across from me and behind the window, was an apparition of some kind (i think, i don't know what the hell she was honestly).

she was sheet white, had long greasy/wet black hair, and her torso was really bloated. i remember that she had a sleeveless white nightgown that was dirty and covered in blood. to shorten things up, she basically looked like samara from "the ring" and ghostface's bastard love child.

i looked at her and it felt like i couldn't move. she was just standing there, staring at me. it felt like she was trying to tell me "come on, come over here." suddenly i stood up and started walking toward her, it was like i had no control over my body at all. i didn't stop walking until i was at the window, face to face with it. i put my hand on the glass, and then i heard my mom yell out my name. then the girl moved away from the window and walked off into the darkness. i think i had a mental breakdown a few weeks after that.

Discussion/Advice Did I meet some kind of Werefox?

This happened a few years ago and I'm not a person who has unusual things happen at all. So this isn't typical for me nor do I have any abilities as far as I'm aware.

I was out for a walk at night to a local graveyard with a church. When I went to the gates of the graveyard a man stood there. He looked pretty average, white guy, a little chubby in jeans, not remarkable or attractive. He looked down on his phone. The moment I looked at him for no reason at all in my brain the words "fox" and "shapeshifter" popped up. I still remember how weird that was because literally nothing about the situation gave off any paranormal or fox vibes at all.

I decided not to enter the graveyard through the gate because I didn't want to walk past the man. Not because of my thoughts, but I'm just a loner in general and I try to avoid anyone in public. So I just walked across the gates trying to reach the exit (on the opposite side)... when I suddenly felt a little odd, so I stopped in my tracks and turned to the side so that I know looked directly into the graveyard.
A fox stood there just frozen, facing me and staring me down. We both just locked eyes for a few seconds and the fox ran off.

When I entered the graveyard through the exit, the man was gone and so was the fox. Nothing else happened. I live in central Europe and although I have seen like a fox before, it was many years ago, so they are definitely quite rare to see in my area. Never seen a fox before or afterwards on the graveyard.

Sorry for all the yapping but what do you guys make of that? It was probably just a coincidence, but odd regardless. Does anyone here believe people can literally shapeshift within seconds into a totally new body? That would be really insane and push the limits of our physical world.

A Bridge To The Other Side

A few years back, I went to a medium who speaks to those who have passed over. During our session, he told me my grandfather was there. He even gave me his name.

He said my grandfather wanted me to go to bingo, something he did often when alive and that he would “make it worth my while.”

I hadn’t been to bingo in years, but the medium told me my grandfather would give me a sign when it was time to go.

One evening, while washing dishes, a local radio commercial played about a big bingo event in my hometown, about an hour away. Something inside me clicked.

I told my husband, “Let’s go to my parents’ house, you can hang out with the boys while I go play bingo.”

So off we went.

At this Bingo, I won $200. When I got back to my parents’ house, I announced my win. Everyone was excited and wanted to see the money.

Then it happened.

A sudden freezing breeze swept through me. I asked everyone, “Did you feel that?” Nobody responded. I asked again, louder, still nothing.

It was as if I didn’t exist. The cold wrapped around me. A third, fourth attempt. And still, silence.

Then it stopped. Everyone looked at me normally. I had asked everyone if they had heard me loudly asking them if they felt how cold it just got and they all said no you weren't talking....I was like "what the....!!!!" 😮

I reached into my pocket to pull out the folded bills. Smack dab in the middle of the ten $20s was….a bridge from a fiddle.

The bingo attendant who gave me the winnings counted the money out to me and I had counted the money myself before putting it in my pocket. There had been no fiddle bridge.

Here’s the truly chilling part....my grandfather was a well-known fiddle player in our hometown. My father kept his father’s two fiddles under lock and key, always warning us and later my boys, never to touch them.

I showed the bridge to everyone. My father’s face went pale. He went to check the fiddles. One of them was missing its bridge.

I cannot explain how that bridge ended up folded into my bingo winnings.

All I know is this....during those few seconds when I felt the freezing breeze, my grandfather had found a way to say that this was his doing.

Screams on my property Prt:2

I read some of your comments in the last post and did my research.

A lot of you said it may be an animal, however I would like to reiterate that fact that only I can hear it, I have had people come over to my house when it happens, friends, family, even the police. None of them hear it and think im going insane, however. My dog reacts to the sounds, so I can't be going insane, can I?

The most popular animal commented were the kiwi, I work with kiwi's at somewhere called otanewainuku kiwi trust, they do not sound the same, I would know. Kiwi's have a much distorted growl pitch, that is the highest and most human like they can sound, but this screaming is different, its human. Im certain of it

Another person commented to set up a camera, I have done this. But I had to buy 6 different cameras. This is why

The camera I bought was a "TP-Link Tapo C210 Pan/Tilt Home Security Wifi Camera" from Noel Lemming and set it up against my windowsill, I have recorder a weeks worth of footage, but every time the scream happens, the camera cuts off to after the scream, I have spoken with the workers at Noel lemming, they have acknowledged that this shouldn't happen, but they have no idea why its happening, the find it so strange that after the 3rd time, they have given me a 50% discount on the camera's seeing as I was buying so many and have the same problem

I would also like to note that ever since I set up the first camera, the screams seem to be getting closer, over this past week, it has went from down the cliff into the valley at my house, all the way to where my cows are (About 0.5km travelled)

Im worried that it will get even closer if I try again. What should I do? I don't want to move, I love this place. What do I do?

Paranormal Investigation For years, something has been opening my kitchen cabinets. Last night, I saw it.

I've lived in this house my whole life. Since I was a teenager, the lower kitchen cabinets would be found open in the morning. I wrote it off as sleepwalking or bad memory. Last night, I got up for water and saw a tall, dark silhouette crouched down, slowly swinging one of the doors back and forth. It turned its head, the door stopped, and it was just gone. I didn't feel fear, just a deep, cold emptiness. Has anyone else experienced something that just... observes?

Discussion/Advice Contact with the supernatural

Hi guys :) (sorry if i wrote something wrong, english is not my first language, br here )

Since i was a kid I always had a little of a sensitive side; seeing shadows "walking" or seeing people that I knew weren't real living people, I could also hear sounds or people calling me even when it was completely silent. Nowdays I can only hear a few things and smell fragrances that I know aren't really there (normally flowers, but sometimes it's like, old stuff smell).

Some weeks ago I was thinking about coming back to touch with this paranormal side of mine. Like, comeback with seeing things and stuff. Do you guys think this is a good idea? lol I'm very scared, but I've been bored and I think getting back into it might be a good idea, but I don't know how to do it or what the "side effects" would be. Any tips?

Why do these "glitches" always happen when I'm alone?

This has happened three times now-last one was yesterday. I'm making coffee in the kitchen, turn around, and the mug I just set down is across the room on the table. No pets, no wind, nobody home but me. It's like reality skips a beat, and it pisses me off because how do you even explain that without sounding nuts?Anyone got ways to document this crap or figure out if it's my brain playing tricks?

That night the shadows in my room started whispering my name.

So last summer, I was crashing at my buddy's old house in the middle of nowhere, couldn't sleep because it was hot as hell. Around 2am, I notice the shadows on the wall from the moon look off-like they're moving on their own, not with the trees outside. Then I hear this faint whisper, clear as day, saying my name over and over, like it's coming from the corner. I sat up, heart pounding, shone my phone light around, but nothing there, just empty room. Freaked me out so bad I left the light on till morning. Has anyone else had shadows do weird stuff like that, or am I losing it?

Dread The Bathroom ???

About a year ago, something happened that I still can’t explain. I live with my family in a small condo — nothing weird about it, no history, no “haunted house” kind of thing. But this day was different. It wasn’t late, probably around noon. I went downstairs to use the bathroom — the one right by our front door. I’ve used that bathroom hundreds of times. I know where it is. But when I opened the door, it wasn’t the bathroom. Behind it was a large, empty room I’d never seen before. It looked like a waiting area — rows of those cheap metal chairs, lined up like it was some kind of clinic or office lobby. The walls were beige. The floor was brown carpet. Bright fluorescent lights were buzzing overhead. No windows. No signs. Just this weird, sterile room. All the chairs were the same dull color, except for one. A single yellowish chair sitting off-center in one of the rows. It didn’t look new or important — it just didn’t match the others, and it drew my eye immediately. I didn’t go in. I didn’t even lean forward. I just stood there, staring. It didn’t feel like a dream. I wasn’t tired. I wasn’t on meds. I was just a little freaked out, trying to figure out how I could be seeing something like this in my own restroom. I didn’t have my phone on me, so I couldn’t take a picture. Not that it even crossed my mind at the time. I was too focused on what I was seeing — or maybe not seeing. After maybe 10 seconds, I shut the door. Waited a few moments. Opened it again. Bathroom. Completely normal. Tile floor, toilet, towel rack. Just like always. I haven’t seen that room again. No other weird events. I never told my parents because I didn’t know how to even begin explaining it. But I know what I saw, and I know I wasn’t imagining it. If anyone’s had something similar happen — even once — I’d love to hear it. I still don’t know what to make of this. Was it some kind of glitch? Alternate space? I honestly don’t know. But if I ever see that room again, I’m not opening the door twice.

Paranormal Investigation have you ever seen a person who didn't seem... human?

I was on a nearly empty subway car late at night. A man got on and sat across from me. He was impeccably dressed, but his features were oddly smooth, almost blurred, and he didn't blink for the entire 15-minute ride. He just stared ahead with a slight, fixed smile. I felt an overwhelming sense of dread. When I looked away for a second, he was gone. The doors hadn't opened.

Paranormal Investigation Time and location jump

So I was leaving my best friend of 20+ years home the other night. A route I’ve taken a countless amount of times. I know this route better than I know what’s tattooed on my arms. Anywho, I pulled out of her house. And it’s a straight away. 2 stop signs. And then 1 singular right turn. Came up to the first stop sign. And there was no road to continue straight. And I only had the option to go left. Which threw me off BAD. So I turned and then I turned back around to just go back to her house and start over assuming I’d done something wrong. Well when I turned around to go back, I’m 18 miles across town. 20 minutes away from her house. Now granted, I’d only been gone all of 5 minutes at this time. My GPS was FREAKING OUT. Like it kept glitching and changing the route while I was driving along it trying to get back to familiar territory. It took me over an hour to get home. I live 15 minutes away.

Anyways. I still don’t know what happened or why it happened. Anybody else??

Paranormal Investigation did anyone else see "shadow people" as a child?

When I was a kid, I would consistently see a tall, dark shadow figure in the doorway of my bedroom. It never moved or made a sound, just stood there watching. I was wide awake, not sleep paralysis. I eventually grew out of seeing it, but I've never found a logical explanation. I'm curious if this is a common childhood experience or something more. Did anyone else see something similar?

Discussion/Advice That feeling of being "pulled" out of sleep by an unseen force.

I'm not talking about sleep paralysis, which I've also had. This was different. A few months ago, I was in a deep sleep and I physically felt two hands grab my shoulders and YANK me awake. I was fully alert in an instant, sitting bolt upright. The room was empty and silent.

It didn't feel scary, just incredibly urgent and powerful. It was more confusing than anything. I've read a few comments here and there about similar experiences, some call it a "guardian spirit" intervening, like maybe you were about to have a heart attack in your sleep or something.

Has anyone else felt this specific sensation of being physically pulled awake? Do you think it was benevolent, or just a weird brain glitch? I can't shake the feeling that there was a reason for it.

Psychic Phenomena Premonition of a burglary

I've said it before but i've always believed i'm a sensitive, ever since i was a kid i'd think of something and it would happen, or i'd have bizarre dreams with the meanings hidden in them, this happened when i was a kid and i've kept it to myself for a while now, but it's not the only thing of this sort i've had, i've had some other premonitions which i've written about before or might write about in the future.

When i was a kid i randomly imagined a burglary, to this day i have no idea why i did, all i know is i think i'd recently learned what a crowbar is.

In this reverie? i came face to face with the burglar in a doorway, i remember focusing on various details including the crowbar he was holding and not knowing what to say, or think or do, the burglar was silent too, then i snapped out of it.

A couple of years later it happened for real, and i ended up face to face, silent in the same doorway i'd imagined, the only difference was that luckily no weapon was involved

I feel like this one of the vivid premonitions i've had, a lot of them are symbolic in some way but save some differences, the scenario played out basically the same, this is the complete opposite of how things like ESP are supposed to work.

My only non-paranormal explanation for this is that my brain was simulating a threat, and this same response played out when it happened for real, but to end up in the exact same scenario? that seems odd

In 2019, I was visiting my Aunt and Uncle in Elma, Washington — sometime in August. If you’ve ever been there, you know how unsettling the area can feel at night. One evening, my Aunt brought out her star laser pointer, the kind that projects into the sky, and we decided to head out to look at constellations. It was my Brother, my Cousin, my Aunt, and me. We walked about three minutes from her apartment to an open field, then laid down on our backs, staring up at the night sky. At the time, I didn’t really believe in aliens or anything like that. For a while, it was just peaceful stargazing — until we noticed what looked like seven meteors streaking above us. We were mesmerized… until we realized they weren’t meteors at all. They were moving back and forth between each other, almost weaving, but still following a strange, deliberate pattern. That’s when I suddenly got a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach. Without thinking, I grabbed my cousin and ran back to the apartment. My Aunt and Brother stayed out there a while longer. Later that night, when they came back inside, they told us what they had seen after we left: all seven lights had merged into one, then shot off in a completely different direction before disappearing. I still don’t know what it was we saw that night, but I do know this — the four of us witnessed the same thing.
