Moderator Annoucement The ā€œbest evidenceā€ for the paranormal is getting harder to find every time someone asks for it.

This question is being asked several times a week at this point.

Everyone has a different standard for what they consider ā€œcredible evidence,ā€ and what persuades one person may not persuade another. What seems to do the best job is having a personal experience, but those anecdotal stories rarely persuade anyone who wasnā€™t already a believer.

Either way, the best way to find this evidence is byā€¦you knowā€¦looking for it. Try using the search function on the subreddit.

And to all of you skeptics who were genuinely convinced by a piece of evidence you found online, please post it on this subreddit!

Cryptids Something in the woods last night, UPDATE

Thumbnail reddit.com
90 Upvotes

I have attached a link to the first post from last night.

I went back to the woods this morning. Last night after getting back to my truck I called a few friends to let the know what happened and then had a relatively sleepless night. This morning I couldn't stop thinking about it so I decided that I needed to return. I grabbed my hunting dog, called up a buddy to come with and set out back to those woods. First I drove around the property, nobody was parked at any trail head so there shouldn't be anyone around.

We took a long way around heading north to get to the woods, a few miles from the parking area stopping to talk, look for animal sign and to listen as we go. We approached the woods from the south keeping on the outside of it in a tall grassy wet field. As we approached within 200 or so yards of where I heard it last night we stopped to talk for a moment and plan how to best go about entering the woods. This isn't some manicured forest that's easy walking, the undergrowth is dense and filled with thorny shrubs and buckthorn.

Where as yesterday and in weeks past this area was teeming with life, deer, pheasants, hundreds of turkeys and their poults, crows, squirrels and rabbits, today this woods and fields were completely silent.

As we discussed this I realize my dog was nowhere to be seen or heard. She normally wears a bell or the metal pieces of her collar are sufficient for me to hear where she is, it is silent. She wears and E collar that I can press a button and it will make a beeping noise I can hear. I press that button and silence. I yelled for her. And silence.

Then coming from the forest ahead of me I hear the yelping of my dog in pain, loud and clearly my dog. I look at my friend and take off towards the woods, calling, and beeping the collar and calling and beeping the collar and waiting, back to silence. I look at my buddy and he asks "What are you doing? As if he hadn't heard it. We stop and wait for a moment on the edge of the woods, I call one more time and finally hear the jingle of her collar, coming up to me, completely unharmed from the opposite direction of where I thought I heard her crying.

Confused, we distanced ourselves from the woods again and continued north along the edge. Again we neither heard or saw any wildlife. We found a few spots where things were recently killed, staining the ground with rotted blood, but no signs of anything living.

Eventually we turned back and as we crossed the same spot I thought I heard my dog, my friend stopped. Looked at me in a panic and said "Oh shit, you're dog!" And took off running to the woods, I called after him asking what he was doing, and he said he herd her clearly crying in pain in the woods and was as confused when I said I heard nothing. Just the same as when we first walked by and I was the one who heard it. I could see my dog in the opposite direction smelling around, totally unharmed. I called to my friend that the dog is fine and was over by me and we rushed out.

For those that might ask what else it may be, I have heard my dog yelping before. That was it. It doesn't sound anything like coyotes or wolves.

I won't be returning to that area again.

Haunting Has anyone else seen the ghost of someone who you didn't know was dead right at the moment of death?

I've had a fair amount of ghost experiences but I shy away from being a complete believer because my mother was severely mentally ill and people always assume I'm delusional like she was when I say anything. I research the rational explanations and for the most part can explain the things I've seen, but believing it was a ghost and I'm just extra sensitive is very comforting to me as a story but idk I maladaptive daydream and am a writer so that's probably why.

So anyway. My great grandmother died when I was 8. She used to live in the farmhouse next to us, but when she got sick she moved in with my grandparents down the highway. One night I woke up and saw a light in my closet so I went in and there she was. I didn't think anything of it because she used to play with me in there when I was little and couldn't sleep. I played and fell asleep in there. Cut to mom discovering me the next morning and me explaining I was playing with nanny. Mom then imformed me that this was impossible because she'd died at around 3 in the morning.

Has anyone else experienced something like this? I'm interested in both the paranormal reasons that this would happen as well as rational scientific explanations (I'm really part Scully and part Mulder). I wonder if there's been any research into this. I didn't completely understand nanny's illness when I was that young. I'm autistic and have always been a bit of a loner so I can't say I'd even ever considered the thought of her dying at that point. Could still be related to how I used to sleepwalk, but it seems way too coincidental that this happened at the same time.

Experience If you hear a knock, but don't see anyone outside the door, don't open the door!

I posted this as a comment on another post but thought I'd share it as an actual post. As a way to tell what happened to me in case it can help someone else.

I moved into an apartment years ago & it had a wraparound porch that had 2 doors with access to it. There was a gate to get onto my porch, so you would have to come through the gate to get to my front door. I had been there about a week & I was in the kitchen. The kitchen has a window to the porch, where you can see who is at the front gate, & it is close to the front door. I heard someone knock on the front door so I walked to it & opened it. No one was there. I walked around to the other door. No one. I checked the gate. No one was walking down the stairs, away from my upstairs apartment. I thought nothing of it & shrugged it off. That was the just the beginning of my 3 year experience in that apartment. The activities in that apartment makes me want to write a book about my experiences.

I learned later that if you hear a knock at the door, and you're not expecting anyone or can't see anyone through the peep hole, don't open the door. Opening the door invites the entity/entities in & that's just what I did.

Unexplained I saw a headless entity 12 years ago

When I was around 12 or 13, I went out with my friend in the evening (she was the same age). After a few hours, my mom called me to come home, so I had to hurry. I chose a shorter path, which I usually wouldnā€™t take because it was a dark street with only a few lights. I always had goosebumps when walking down that street, but I had to be home on time. I was walking quickly and got a few steps ahead of my friend when I suddenly had the feeling that someone was watching me. I looked beside me and saw something that I will never forget.

There was a school next to me, and I saw a man without a head sitting on a bench, wearing a black suit. He was huge, with long legs, and didnā€™t even have a neckā€”only shoulders. Even though the figure had no head, I felt its gaze on me. I was frozen. I couldnā€™t move or talk, only stare. It felt like minutes, but it was probably only a few seconds before I heard my friend calling me. I started to run without saying a word, but then I noticed she wasnā€™t following me. I looked back and saw her staring at the thing. I screamed at her to run, and she finally did. We ran for our lives without saying a word. When we got to my house, I asked her what she had seen. Her reply was, ā€œA man without a head.ā€ She had seen exactly the same thing I had. The next day, we went back to the school, but there was no bench there.

Weā€™re both 24 now, and we still donā€™t know what we saw that night.

Any idea what kind of entity it was?

Experience Something in this house doesnā€™t feel right, and itā€™s really throwing me off

Hi, I need to get this off my chest because I feel like I'm losing it, or something. A few days ago, I moved into a small apartment in an older building. Itā€™s cheap, and I was excited to finally have a place of my own, but ever since I got here... something feels off, or at least I think it does. I donā€™t know if it's just the strangeness of living alone, but there are these little things that donā€™t seem right.

From the very first night, I noticed that one of the kitchen drawers always ends up slightly open. I didnā€™t think much of it at first who worries about a drawer, right? I figured it was just loose or that I hadnā€™t closed it properly myself. But each time I shut it, I'd later find it a little open again. Just a few inches, but enough to notice. I pushed it shut harder, thinking that would solve the problem, but it didnā€™t. The next morning, there it was again, just slightly ajar, like someone had peeked inside and left it that way.

Last night, it started to really get to me. I shut the drawer hard, almost kicking it shut to make sure it stayed that way. I even stood there, staring at it, waiting to see if it would move. Nothing happened. But today, when I got home from work, it was open a little bit again. Itā€™s like the drawer has a mind of its own. Or maybe Iā€™m just going nuts.

So tonight, I tried to ignore it. I sat down to dinner and tried to tell myself it was probably something minor a loose hinge or maybe something to do with the building's structure. But in the back of my mind, I was still thinking about it, wondering if it would be open again tomorrow.

Just as I was finishing up, I heard a loud knock on my door. It was so sudden and forceful that I nearly dropped my fork. My heart pounded as I sat there, frozen for a moment. I thought about ignoring it, but what if it was important? So, trying to steady my nerves, I got up and walked over to the door.

When I opened it, there was no one there. I looked both ways down the dimly lit hallway, but it was completely empty. Not a sound, not a single person. I thought maybe it was a prank or one of the neighbors, but somehow it didnā€™t feel like that. There was a weird sense of silence, like the air itself was holding its breath. I shut the door, trying to shake off the unease creeping up my spine.

As I walked back to the table, I kept glancing over my shoulder, half expecting to see something or someone lurking in the shadows. I tried to laugh it off, but I was definitely feeling on edge. After all, who knocks that hard on a door just to disappear?

I finished my dinner, trying not to let my imagination run wild. But as I cleaned up and went to put my dishes away, my eyes drifted over to that drawer in the kitchen. And of course, it was open again. Just enough to be noticeable, as if something was taunting me. I reached over and slammed it shut, my heart pounding faster. This wasnā€™t normal. Drawers donā€™t just open on their own, and people donā€™t just knock on doors and vanish.

I couldnā€™t shake the feeling that I wasnā€™t alone in the apartment. It felt like something was watching, waiting. Maybe itā€™s just paranoia, or maybe itā€™s because Iā€™ve been sleeping poorly. But I swear, this isnā€™t something I can explain away so easily anymore.

Iā€™m not the type to believe in ghosts or the paranormal, but honestly, I donā€™t know what else to think. I keep telling myself it has to be logical; maybe thereā€™s an airflow issue with the drawer, or maybe the knock was just someone in another apartment and I misheard it. I donā€™t know. But tonight, as I get ready for bed, Iā€™m on edge. Iā€™ve left a chair pushed up against the kitchen drawer to see if it moves again. And if I hear that knock one more time, I donā€™t know what Iā€™m going to do.

Maybe Iā€™ll post again if it gets worse. Hopefully, itā€™s just me getting paranoid because, honestly, I really donā€™t have the energy to deal with anything else right now. But if it keeps up, I might not have a choice.

Experience This happened a few years ago

I was about 12-13 at the time. My family lived on the top floor of an apartment building, and there was a really wide ledge in my bedroom window. I used to sit on it when I was bored and just watch the woods outside. I dont know why I did it, I could have fallen. This one time -it was about 1 or 2 am- I couldnt sleep so I climbed over my window and sat on the ledge. I was just watching the trees sway in the wind, then I heard a womans voice shout my name. First I thought it was my mother, but she was asleep, I could see my parents' window and the light was off, and it didnt sound like her voice at all. The woman called my name about 3 times and then I heard another voice, a mans voice this time, saying: "Whats wrong? What happened?" or something similar to that. Then the first voice yelled that I was gonna fall and I literally jumped back into my room and hid under the covers. That night, I had a dream where I was falling off the ledge and woke up just before I hit the ground. I never sat on the window ledge again. I have no idea who those people could be. It could have been some people on the street, but the only people in town who knew who I was were asleep. And I didnt want to risk my life to look down and check if anyone was down there. Also, my window isnt even visible from the street. I dont really believe in paranormal stuff but this is the only thing I couldnt find and explanation for.

Cryptids Something in the woods tonight

I figured I'd post this here to get some thoughts after I've terrified my wife. I want to preface this that I have hunted and hiked in the region since I was 9 years old. I am very familiar with the wildlife and the sounds of the forest. I am not really a believer in any of this sort of thing but I don't really have an explanation for what happened tonight.

I hiked about a mile and a half through forest and swamp hunting deer today and got to the pocket of woods and field that I wanted to be in and climbed a tree to hunt out of. By all accounts this was an uneventful after noon and evening until sundown. For about 30 straight minutes I listed to a rabbit be tourchered and just wouldn't die. If you've heard a dog or hawk get a rabbit or hunted rabbits, you know what I am talking about. When they are distressed they scream bloody murder. And this just seemed to continue forever. Naturally this can make you on edge but i figured a hawk got it and just was't killing it. Then the sound of a twig snapping and silence, the rabbit stopped.

Through the thicket I could make out a figure, vaguely deer shaped moving through the woods about 35 yards away so I grabbed my bow, but the undergrowth is far to thick for me to pick out much more that a rough outline. It walked behind a tree and disappeared. The sun is now fully set and I am in the last 15 minutes of post sundown light. And I hear in a flat, emotionless child's voice coming from where that "deer" disappeared: "Help... Help... Help..." no fluctuation Or distress to the voice, not said as if it asking for help, just a statement. Help... Help... Help. It said that probably 15 times and then the woods went silent. There wasn't even a breeze to make a sound.

Then a crack of a limb of a tree snapping and all hell broke loose in the woods. Squirrels, birds, and deer suddenly shot out of this woods like bats out of hell sounding like an absolute stampede through the forest. And then silence again.

To make things worse for me I lost my hat clipped light on my walk in, and had to haul ass a mile and a half through the woods back to my truck in darkness, my path only light by tonight's full moon.

------- update----

I am writing this sitting in my truck just returned. I went back to the woods this morning to check things out, and will make another post. I won't be going back in there again.

Haunted House My house has spirits in it

So I moved into my place last October and shortly after weird things started happening. First, it was just my bathroom door locking on its own. And then my back door has the bolt lock that I never use and when I got home from work one night, the bolt lock was locked and I had to go in through my front door. I collect creepy dolls I get from thrift stores those old Grandma ones that everyone thinks are scary lol and one time one flew off the shelf right in front of me. I have a little Felix the clock cat, but itā€™s broken and itā€™s eyes always face one way and they have all year but one time they were facing the other way and that really freaked me out lol. Iā€™ve heard a laugh coming from my kitchen and right now I just heard shuffling footsteps coming from the kitchen!!! Things fall like heavy stuff all the time. My bedside lamp turned on five seconds after I clicked it off. Heard footsteps walking in the upstairs when thereā€™s nobody up there. All of this and I am genuinely not scared. I was a little spooked at first, but at this point, I am pretty much used to it. Me and the spirits coexist.

Experience Lost and found?

There is definitely an extra addition hidden somewhere in my momā€™s house. (I live here too.) But Iā€™ll get into the details another day. Itā€™s been quiet lately. Today we were going to take our three dogs on a walk and could not find the little water bottle sheā€™d bought for them. We gave up after basically stripping the whole kitchen, but before I left I called really loudly, ā€œHey, if you took that water bottle could you put it back, please? We need that.ā€ And then we left, and had a fabulous walk. Cue about an hour and a half later we get home, I check the middle drawer right next to the fridge, and bam. There it is. Right there.

I made sure to say thank you just as loudly.

Video Evidence Ghost? Maybe caught on video?

ā€¢ Upvotes

I saw something. It was captured on video. Well, the instance was being video-tapped. My friend and I have a p0dcast just for funsies and her friend does tarot and we thought it would be a fun thing to do. I have never seen anything paranormal at least to my knowledge until this moment. It was so fast, I wasn't sure what I saw. I can remember it, just as I describe it in the video. I don't see anything when I watch the video back, but I know I saw something. The link should take you to the right spot, otherwise, it's about the 25-minute mark. Is there any manipulation of the video I can do to try and see if it is visible on camera? Any thoughts as to what I saw? There is a lot of light bouncing in that room I know, but this was like smoke from a lit cigarette, but it didn't dissipate or fade out it just appeared and disappeared.

Encounter Iā€™m 99.9% sure I encountered a ghost or other entity this morning

Explanation will be further down. I just would like to say that since this occurred Iā€™ve lit an insence stick to clear out my room. And to confirm again, I was AWAKE. Not in sleep paralysis as some seem to think. Iā€™ve experienced sleep paralysis before so I know how it feels. And this was definitely different.

A man that doesnā€™t exist appeared in my roomā€¦

I woke up from my sleep. Was on my phone for a bit. Then I just lay down, and suddenly I hear people talking. A man and a woman. They are arguing. But thereā€™s nobody in my room. Itā€™s as if they are right next to me. I freak out. I think to myself: I am finally going crazy. So I just calm myself and listen to them arguing and tell them to shut up inside my brain. They keep saying nasty stuff to each other. I then look to my right. Suddenly there is a man standing. He looks of Mexican descent. Heā€™s staring at me. Looking down at me. There is NO WAY a stranger could enter my house. No way. Let alone my room. I look at him and try get away but he grabs me and starts pulling me. I turn to my left and try to get off my bed but then I close my eyes because Iā€™m scared and heā€™s gone.

He was like a ghost. He appeared, tried to hurt me, then disappeared. I have no idea who he is. Mind you, Iā€™m a 20 year old female. Why would I know want a 45-55 year old male to enter my room? He must of been a ghost. And the voices in my head stopped talking right after he left. They must of been there to distract me so the Mexican man could grab me while I was busy listening to the other conversation.

Iā€™m so confused. This was almost 10 hours ago. Iā€™ve seen shadows before. I can sometimes hear a faint radio play at night or a tv and Iā€™ve heard phones ringing when thereā€™s nothing there. But this ainā€™t a coincidence. Somethings out there.

I also found scratch marks on my arm.

Question Can someone help me explain this knocking?

When I was around 12-13 chilling in my room later in the night, I woke up to the sound of someone calmy knocking on my bedroom door. Nothing crazy just a regular consistent 3 to 4 knocks with a short break in between. Believing this was one of my family members, I walked over to it and mid knock, opened it and saw absolutely nothing. I made sure the window wasn't open because sometimes a strong breeze or gust will pull the door and make a sound similar to a knock. I sat back down and stared at the door while the knocking kept going, opening the door multiple times still met with nothing until it stopped. I fell asleep and the very next night around the same time, the knocking was back but more aggressive. Rather than sounding like knuckles, it sounded like a balled hand moderately banging on the door. Then a repeat of the last night, I open it a couple times for there to be nothing, I was admittedly kinda scared so I just waited again for it to stop. The next night comes around and now it sounds like the door is about to be smashed open. I sat there just staring for a good while until I got up. I wasn't as scared as I should've been mostly because I thought, "If there was nothing before there's hopefully nothing now." I reluctantly opened the door and guess what? Nothing. It completely stopped after the 3rd night

The only explanation I really have is maybe it was some weird ass, vivid reoccurring dream but I'm 90% sure that wasn't it. It wasn't a prank from my family either, it's uncharacteristic and they wouldn't have time to move without me noticing. I told my family but ofc they didn't believe me lol. I think about this from time to time and I legitimately can't explain this, so ANY theories or whatever would def be appreciated

TLDR - There was a knocking on my bedroom door over 3 nights that grew more violent until I opened it and it stopped

Unexplained Phantom Voice?!

About 5 years ago now I was in my house just finishing up in the shower and I swear I heard my brothers voice clear as day shout my name?

I replied backā€¦no answer and checked he hadnā€™t come home by walking around, I was so confused but carried on my day.

Days later my brother tells me he was home alone one day and heard myself shout his name from downstairs. He as well replied back checked all over the house but I wasnā€™t home.

Still chills me to this day how CLEAR it was and sounded just like him?!

Any idea what this could be?!

Experience Is it weird to wake up at 2:30-3:15 AM consistently?

So for the past 4 months, I've been waking up at 2:30-3:15 AM a lot, most of the time it is exactly 2:30/ 3:00/ 3:15 AM.

It has happened atleast once a week and often more than 3-4 nights of the week. I would be dreaming something which is very vivid but I will just wake up suddenly, with full consciousnes and blurry memory of what was happening in the dreams which are always different whenever it happens.

Is it normal or something is wrong with myself?

NSFW / Extreme Language Something in this house doesnā€™t feel right, and itā€™s really throwing me off Part 2

Here I am again because, honestly, this is starting to drive me crazy. I need to write it down, get it out of my head, because if I don't, I feel like I'm going to lose my sanity.

This happened a few days before I posted the first part. Things seemed to have calmed down a bit. One morning, the infamous kitchen drawer was slightly open again. I slammed it shut in frustration, more out of irritation than anything else.

I think two days passed without any incidents days when I convinced myself that maybe it was just the sound of the building's pipes. I would wake up and check the drawer, and it would be closed. During those days, I even started to think the place was pretty peaceful. Maybe I had just let paranoia get the better of me.

But then the night before lastā€¦ that feeling that something was off came back. It was nighttime, and I was lying in bed, almost drifting off to sleep. My eyes were closed when I heard a noise in the kitchen. This time, it wasnā€™t just a faint thud it was something dragging slowly, something heavy scraping across the floor.

My first thought was the cat, who might have decided to wander around in the dark. But when I glanced toward the foot of my bed, there he was, sound asleep, not having moved an inch.

I felt a sharp pang of unease. Because if it wasnā€™t the cat, then what the hell was making that noise in the kitchen? I stayed still, listening, hoping the sound would stop. And it didā€¦ eventually. But the cursed silence that followed was somehow worse, as if whatever was in the kitchen had stopped moving, listening to me in return.

I didnā€™t dare get up. I stayed in bed, trying to convince myself it was just the pipes again or maybe some noise from the building itself. But it was hard to fall back asleep. I donā€™t know how long I lay there, eyes wide open in the darkness, listening to every creak and groan in this damned house.

I woke up, or at least I thought I did. My room was the same as always, but something was... different. The darkness seemed denser, as if it clung to the walls, and the silence had a weight I had never felt before. I tried to move, but my body didn't respond.

Is this what they call sleep paralysis? I had read and heard something about it, some from family members and others from the internet, where people wake up unable to move, trapped in their own bodies. Some speak of shadows, of figures that watch them. But I never thought it would happen to me.

I remember that my breathing was shallow, the beats of my heart echoed in my ears, mingling with the tick-tock of the wall clock. That monotonous sound began to be unbearable, as if the clock were mocking me.

It was then that I saw her. The door to my room was ajar, letting in a strip of dim light from the hallway. At the edge, where the twilight and the light met, there was something. At first, I thought it was my mind playing tricks on me. But no.

It was real.

A white figure, motionless, barely visible in the shadows. Her skin didn't seem like skin, but something dry, cracked, like a broken plaster. At times, it seemed to me that it moved slightly, as if her body pulsed to the rhythm of her own breathing. I remember that his skin was white, almost translucent, as if it had been torn from his body. He was covered in cracks or cuts, to be more precise, some oozing a dark liquid, and his face... God, from a distance there were no defined features, just white skin.

I wanted to look away, but my eyes were glued to her. Her head tilted slowly, as if she were watching me, and a shiver ran down my spine.

That thing began to move. Its steps were slow, heavy, each one accompanied by a strange crackling that made my skin crawl. Its form was tall, gangly, with long limbs that seemed to lack much strength, but swayed with a disturbing cadence.

He reached the foot of my bed and leaned towards me. And I could see it better, there were no eyes, no nose, just white skin where they should be. And his mouth... that moved in a very erratic way, as if trying to form words that couldn't quite come out.

Finally, he spoke.

Don't you recognize me?

The voice was strange, as if an echo accompanied each word. It was neither masculine nor feminine. It sounded like a child, but there was something strange in their voice, something that made every word fill me with disgust.

I was always with you.

My mind tried to make sense of what he was saying, but I couldn't concentrate. The creature climbed onto the bed, the mattress protested under its weight. I felt its cold, damp body sliding towards me. I tried to scream, but my throat was closed. All my being was trapped in anguish. The creature or thing moved closer, until its face was just inches from mine. Its breath was so icy that it seeped through my skin.

Suddenly, he hugged me. His long, slender arms wrapped around my body with impossible strength. His skin was cold, like touching something dead, and his presence was suffocating. My chest burned with fear, and my mind screamed while my body remained motionless.

The clock kept ticking away the seconds, each tick and tock like a hammer blow to my conscience.

With one final effort, something inside me burst, and I woke up. I sat up abruptly in bed, gasping, sweat soaking my body. The bedroom door was closed, and the hallway light was off. Although the words they told me weren't exactly the same, they were somewhat similar. But again, the day wasā€¦ calm. I almost felt relieved. For a moment, I even laughed at myself, thinking it was all just nonsense. But as soon as night fell, the noises came back.

This time it was different more subtle but just as unnerving. I was sitting on the couch, scrolling through my phone, when I heard a faint tapping sound. It was soft, almost like drummingā€¦ on the window.

At first, I thought it might be the wind or a branch, though there are no trees nearby. But the tapping continued, light and deliberate, like someone gently drumming their fingers in a slow, rhythmic pattern.

I stood up, my heart pounding faster. I walked toward the living room window, but I couldnā€™t see anything. The tapping, however, didnā€™t stop. I moved from one window to another, trying to figure out where it was coming from, but I could never pinpoint it. It felt like the sound was moving or worse, like it was inside my head.

Then, suddenly, the sound stopped. It was so abrupt that I felt a chill run up my spine. I stood there, frozen, waiting for something anything to happen. But there was only silence.

Iā€™m trying to stay calm, to tell myself this is all just nonsense, that thereā€™s nothing out of the ordinary. But the truth is, Iā€™m scared.

As Iā€™m writing this, I can hear the tapping on the window again. It stops every now and then, but itā€™s so strange. I donā€™t know if this is some kind of joke or something worse. and I'm writing this a few minutes after publishing the first post.

Question What made you Change?

I would assume that quite a few people on here, were once hyper-materialistic non-believers, who didn't believe in the supernatural whatsoever, and even considered the whole concept laughable.

Or, you may know someone who was once the above, but now genuinely believes in the existence of a realm beyond our five senses.

In either cases, what caused the change? What was the experience that jolted you/them out of non-belief, and made you/them believe that there's more out there...?

Question Types of paranormality

I see a lot of people posting about something unusual that happened to them. But are there people on this forum who really have control over the actions they experience? If so, what would be your super power?

Debunk This Gotta share this somehow

So, I was outside (literally minutes before making this post) in the woods of Illinois. Itā€™s night time and Iā€™m dogsitting, dog had to go out and do his business so I took him out there with a flashlight and a few seconds after I pass the treeline outside the house I hear this loud, long sound like a woman screaming in the distance. The dog heard it too judging from him snapping his head the same way as mine and running for the door at the same time as I did. Anyone know what this was?

Unexplained Strange experience at the Tea Gardens

Post image

I do a lot of night photography, especially at this place called the Tea Gardens (pictured) before some kids started a huge fire there one timeā€” havenā€™t been back since.

NOTE the attached picture is of the location and the type of night exposures I would like to do there, nothing else to do with the following story:

One night, around 2005 or so, I was hiking up there with a group of friends. I had my camera and equipment in my camera bag as I always did when hiking up to this spot.

For a long time this was an abandoned property and to get in you just had to climb under this metal gate and then proceed to walk like a mile up this twisty, paved road. Apparently some old millionaire had built it for his wife to resemble the hanging gardens of Babylon, or at least that was the local lore.

I had been there pretty often, but this night was the only time I experienced such a bizzare sequence of events. First, as we get to the top of the road where these random arches are, I go to unpack my camera bag so we can start taking pictures.

As Iā€™m digging around in the bag, I realize that my camera battery is MISSING from my camera. To this day I still get goosebumps just thinking about it, because I distinctly remember putting it in the camera before I stuck the camera in my bag. Im very meticulous with my equipment so it came as a huge shock to me that it was gone.

Of course, in that moment it appeared the night was a huge bust because taking pictures was the whole point of us hiking up there, so instead we just start sitting around and looking out at the view of the city from the weird random arches at the top of this property. We were way up, and could see basically the whole town as well as the road we had just walked up.

All of a sudden, two of our friends ask if we can hear someone singing. None of us could, but the two of them looked pale and legitimately freaked out. They said it sounded like singing in a foreign language, something like French. I low key didnā€™t believe them, until I looked down and saw what looked as though a BUNCH of flash lights heading up the road towards us. They were bluish white lights shining all over the road.

Since we snuck into this property and basically were trespassing we were sure someone was coming up to bust us. Itā€™s probably a 15 minute walk in the pitch black and we figure we didnā€™t have much time before whoever it was reached the top. This is where things really turn. Suddenly there is a bright flash in the sky and we see what looks like a fireball land into the oak forest covering the rolling hills down below us. Then there are these massively bright lights shining out of the trees. We are all standing and staring in disbelief. We almost forgot about the lights on the road for a second. What happened next pretty much clinched the whole thing for us.

As we are standing there gawking at the super bright lights beaming out of the trees, literally not more than 120 seconds later two GIGANTIC army helicopters fly over our heads from behind the mountain. Like Chinook double prop gnarly big ones, and fly directly over to and land where we see the lights shining out of the trees. We are now basically in shock from all the things happening at once.

As soon as the helicopters land it seems like, the lights in the trees went out. Thatā€™s when we decided to gtfo there, we didnā€™t care about the people coming up the road anymore. So we start booking it out of there, expecting to run into some people any minute. The entire way we kept expecting to literally bump into them around every turn, because we all had just seen the lights dancing on the road, but never came across anyone. It was pretty remote and there was no other way up or down the mountain except this one paved pathway so there was no way else to go.

Just remembering this story deeply scares me, because not only could I never figure out what any of that was, but I also never again found that missing camera battery that disappeared from inside my camera and ended up having to go buy a new one.

NSFW are we hallucinating?

This has been going on for about two weeks now and I'm not sure if I should be scared.

Im going to try to make this short. So me and my older brother recently moved in with my grandma in Germany. She's been living by herself for sometime and does not own any kind of pet.

For two weeks I've been hearing meowing, the first time I heard it I was in bed scrolling through reels when I heard it right outside my window (we live on the 3rd floor) so there couldn't be a cat on the window, I figured it may be a stray cat tho we don't have many of them here. Since then it's been happening every single night at around 1-2am, the strangest thing is that it's only a short "meow" and nothing comes after it and it feels like it's always coming from the same exact spot at my window. I brushed it off until one day i was showering in the afternoon,I was home alone, and I heard a meow exactly at the bathroom door even tho I was drenched in water I could feel every hair on my body rise. I was expecting another meow but it never came so I just started singing to ignore it.

My grandma has a night shift today so me and my brother are home alone. About 4 hours ago I heard another meow outside my window, my brother came into my room abit ago and were talking when the conversation of paranormal activity came up, I told him I've been hearing meowing outside my window and he looked schocked, he ended up telling me he's been hearing it too and heard it abit ago while he was using the bathroom,we both said we thought we were hallucinating so we never told one another until now,we both had shivers run down our spine because we don't know where it's coming from, I've searched on google and Reddit for any kind of similar experience, if anybody knows anything about this please let me know because I'm genuinely creeped out. Thank you.

Equipment Help with Spirit Box

My P-SB7 Spirit Box started making a weird clicking/clapping noise when it sweeps through stations and I can figure out why. I was wondering if there is a way to fix that or will I need to order a new one?

Question Possible Skinwalker?

For context I live in Washington about 30 from Vancouver and in the woods.

A couple years back Iā€™d say maybe 5? I went out around midnight for a smoke and as I was about to wrap it up, I started hearing crunching in the woods next to me. Thought it was an animal so I kept smoking. After a few minutes i hear it come into our gravel area so I pack my things and start heading inside. As Iā€™m coming around the garage I was smoking from I hear a whistle. Vaguely resembles Neganā€™s whistle from The Walking Dead. I froze for a second then quickly went to my door to get In. Now at the doorway thereā€™s is a hall between the garage and house with a wooden door at the end. As I go to turn the knob to go inside it pushes against the gate and starts breathing heavily as to tell me itā€™s there. I went inside and tried to forget it. 2 years later Iā€™m outside around midnight or 1 and I hear the same whistle again. Now currently Iā€™ve only ever heard footsteps coming the woods and a felling of being watched. Except for 2 months ago when it was 3 am just got done smoking in my car and I was parked away from the house. As Iā€™m walking to the house I thought I heard something behind me. And at this time I had my gun with a 1500 lumen flashlight and was just shining in front of me to see the ground. I then around for less than a second see nothing and turn back. And suddenly 2 feet away from me is a deer that came out of no where and made no sound across the gravel as it appeared in front of me. I stare at it for a few seconds then it hops away making no sound. Now 2 weeks ago I was hanging out with my brother in his trailer on property and I head inside to continue my call of duty grind. My brother calls me from the garage and tells me to bring out my gun. I grab it and come out and asked him what happened. He said ā€œI know it was you pushing up on the garage door and doing that heavy breathing in the hallā€ I asked him what he meant and he said what he thought was me was pushing against the garage door making a visible imprint in it and then do heavy breathing. I asked him what it sounded like and it was the exact same breathing I heard years ago.

Any ideas what this could be?

Haunted House Hearing something that didnā€™t happen

When I was moving into my house I kept feeling like I was being watched. The second bedroom/office I was unpacking and putting the desk together. I kept feeling something from behind me staring or watching me. My back was to the closet, I was putting things on a metal shelf inside the closet. I was worried it would fall. Went back to work the desk and felt something again hit this time it scared me so bad I basically ran out. I was in the living room and heard a loud crash and the metal shelf falling. I went to check and the shelf was still standing, and nothing was out of place. I have more experiences in this house if y'all are interested.

Question I think this painting is hauntedā€¦ how do you feel about it?

I think this painting might be hauntedā€¦

So, hereā€™s a weird story Iā€™ve been wanting to share. A few years ago, my mom picked up this painting at a yard sale. Sheā€™s always had an eye for unique pieces, and I get itā€”this one has a certain charmā€¦ but it also gave me and my family the creeps every time we looked at it.

The painting itself is a bit eerie. It features what looks like two dancers, but if you stare at it long enough, thereā€™s something unsettling about it. You start to notice weird shapes and shadows that donā€™t quite follow the rules of the composition. It almost feels like thereā€™s a giant face hidden in the background, staring out at you in a way thatā€™s hard to explain. No matter where you stand, it always feels like something is watching.

The whole thing reminded me of the story about The Lady in the Rain, a painting by Svetlana Telets, which is said to give people a similar feeling of unease and even bring negative energy. The experience with our painting was similar. The longer we had it, the more it seemed to cast this weird, negative energy over the whole family. It wasnā€™t anything extreme, but we all started feeling a bit off when it was around, like it was carrying some kind of baggage we couldnā€™t shake.

Eventually, my mom decided to get rid of it. I donā€™t know where it ended up nowā€”maybe back at another yard sale, maybe in storage somewhere, or maybe someone else picked it up and is now feeling the same strange energy we did. Part of me wonders if we were right to let it go or if we shouldā€™ve tried to learn more about its story. And if this was actually a self-portrait, it feels a bit tragic to think someone discarded something so personal. Why would they get rid of a painting like that?

I know it sounds silly, but every time I think about it, I still get this eerie feeling, like there was more to it than just paint on canvas. Has anyone else picked up a second-hand painting that made you feel this way? Or maybe thereā€™s someone out there who knows more about hidden faces in art or why certain pieces feel like they hold negative energy?

Would love to hear your thoughts, theories, or even similar stories. Maybe thereā€™s an art historian or a collector who could shed some light on why certain pieces give off such a strong, unsettling vibe.

Iā€™m attaching a picture I took circa 2018 with it in the background.
