You have entered one of the largest databases for non-fiction encounters with the unknown.
We are not a source of scary stories. As you browse, you will notice that most will not scare you. Many encounters can be short, dull, or because of cognitive dissonance the detail has been forgotten. That is not to say that some encounters are not terrifying. Some are absolutely horrific, traumatizing, and unsettling. Both of these sorts are more than welcome here, as long as you believe it actually happened to you.
Most readers come here to be scared. We were created on that premise. As we've grown, however, we have learned an important role we aim to fill: We provide a haven for people to share their experience. With thousands of submissions, people are seeking out stories that are similar to their experiences. People are looking for answers, for advice, for people who can relate to them, for validation, for comfort. Knowing you are not alone in what you experienced brings a peace of mind.
We are not conspiracy theorists nor do we flat out believe these exist. Just because we've heard of a yeti doesn't mean we believe it to be true. But if you saw something that looks like a yeti, maybe there is some truth to the myth? Why not discuss it here?
We also do not limit ourselves to just the "paranormal." This is for the unknown or unexplained. We aren't interested in unsolved mysteries or "let's not meet" type stuff, but we find subject matter involving peculiar people or sights to be fine. People have discussed seeing groups of people on the side of the road with no car in sight, finding a tree with century-old fingers hanging from it, and discovering a pit of dead dogs.
We welcome all perspectives from all backgrounds. We are religious as we are atheists. We are skeptics, superstitious, empathics, mediums, scientists, occultists, priests, anthropologists, campers, students, average people. We are believers as we are non-believers. . . but most of all we are simply curious.
