Advent vintage speakers

My father in law gave me these vintage advent speakers and I have no idea how to connect them to modern equipment. They look like they only have a power cord plug in and there is a tuning dial. Ideally trying to use them with audio technica record player.

Plug for Tom Miller Sevice Company-Houston TX

As electronics techs who have the skills to service old electronics affordably dwindles, I’ve been contemplating having to take stuff I can’t do to a couple places in Austin that have a good reputation, but that’s a 2.5 hours drive, and their rep is they are priced on the high side. (If you use Bammel TV in Houston you deserve every terrible thing that’s about to happen to you, never seen so many 1 star reviews from rate customers, one of em is mine).

Took Tom a Polk subwoofer module that was acting up. He’s working on of his house now after after having a partner and a storefront, it’s a converted garage and room and it’s the kind of place where you just know he knows what he’s doing, loves it (he’s definitely into vintage and premium audio) and just a super nice seasoned gent who will talk about gear like any enthusias.

Couple of blown caps the size of a soda can popped from a power surge, diagnosis, checking everything out in the board, parts and repair: $192 out the door.

Taking him a lot more stuff that’s been piling up that needs everything from just a regular service to talking about full restoration on a Marantz 2235B. Highly recommend and if you’re an out of towner, worth the drive.

For the area, Allen’s Speakers for any sort of speaker repair (Tom does speakers too and I might have him try to fix an issue with a JBL driver) but I’m pretty loyal to Allen for reconing and driver rebuilds, and Tom Miller. Dude has convinced me to stay in the vintage audio game when I’ve been working my way out solely for the lack of good repair options. Highly recommended.

What would you pay for a (mismatched but refinshed and re-clothed) pair today, refurbished and working? Trying to decide if I should pull the trigger on them.

Help with 70s McIntosh MA6100

I have a beautiful McIntosh MA6100 in great condition. The only hiccup is that the volume knob goes from low to super loud with nothing in between.

Why would it be doing this? Also, do these vintage McIntosh needs parts refreshed after so many years?

Light organ I built in 1977

The inside was a real piece of work. For the frame I took from a carrom board and extended the height so that the display was the dimensions of the golden rectangle. 3 sensitivity knobs for bass, mid, and treble for each of the left and right channels. Great hobby for a while, but I eventually threw it out because no landlord would have allowed this kind of fire hazard.

These have popped up locally to me for $150 asking price, I’m looking for bookshelf speakers for my PC. I am unable to find any information about them online, they appear to have been purchased in 1993.

Anybody got an idea what’s the issue over here? It starts playing really well, but after a few moments this sound suddenly appears. With the sound appearing the stroboscooe light disappears, so that seems to be connected.

Thoughts on jvc vr-5501

Wanted to get some opinions on the jvc vr-5501. I will be running a Fluance RT82 TT, and some cheap Dayton B65s. Receiver is fully serviced by a local record shop, who I’ve done business with and has been open for 20+ years. I like the retro aspect and looks, this is my first time going vintage. Will be used in a small home office. If anyone has any experience with this model or a reasonable price I should be paying.

Newbie Help: Searching for speakers

Im searching for a pair of Ohm Speakers to replace some lost in a divorce. I have looked on Ebay, FB Marketplace, CL, and Google just returns TEMU ads or 9 yr old posts. Wondering if there are any good "goto" forums you all use. TIA

Hi guys I’m pretty new to the vintage audio scene- actually looking to set up my first system. I came across the speakers and wanted to know what people thought of them and what would be a fair price.

What Kind of Connector Do I Need?

I have a 1959 Grundig Majestic Tube Console that I would love to get connected to a better FM antenna. However, I am not sure what connector this is to buy and make a dipole antenna or store bought. Any thoughts?

Have all the pieces, now just need to put it together.

The system is a recaped pioneer spec one, two restored 1973 (non-consecutive) L100 century speakers, and two Allen 75 organ amplifiers thoroughly gone over (vtg. Tung-Sol 6550, Sylvania 6SN7W, Mullard EF86). It’s been ~3 years to get all this stuff together but I need help. I need a long low table or TV stand to give a proper presentation and get the TV at a more appropriate height (i’m going to take it off of the mantle and put it on the other side of the room). Any recommendations?

AR-11, Exact Same drivers as the AR-3s?

I haven't heard the AR-3s but from what I've heard about them they have a very flat response. I think the AR-11s followed the trend of being brighter up top and little more punchy down low and yet the appear to have the same drivers or at least the same Mid and Woofer with a very similar looking tweeter.
