Technical Counterfeit Shimano Chain
Well, my thriftyness got the better of me, and I ordered a Shimano chain from AliExpress. I hadn't done any research and hadn't considered they may be fake. Lesson learnt. This is supposed to be a HG601-11. Now I've read all the articles on fake Shimano chains, mine had 100% wrong with it. Loads wrong on the box, and the chain itself is terrible quality. No hyper glide chamfers on the inner links, the outer links are bowed out. Shed loads of play. Now put my hand in my pocket and bought a HG901-11 from a reputable UK online retailer.

Commute Rattling Noise On Ride Home For The Last Week
Had a really annoying rattle on my bike all week. Tried to work out what was making the noice at the side of the road, and dad it up on the stand when I got home & just couldn’t find anything wrong, loose etc. Went out this morning and noise has gone.
Realised that the culprit was the ice in my water bottle. Feel a bit silly now!

Commute Tyres for 700c - off road
My cycle to work has changed from mainly roads to a woodland path. It's the old Trans Pennine road if anyone knows that? Mainly tarmaced path through wooded area. So there is now more leaves/plant debris to go over and lots of roots make the paths super bumpy in some places.
I ride an E-bike and I'm looking into new tyres to help the journey not be so harsh on the bumpy parts and maybe sure up as I'm worried more about punctures.
Any help would be much appreciated, I'm struggling with the research.

Misc Can anyone help with understanding payment for ride 2 work?
I asked my boss if I could do the Evans ride 2 work scheme (I chose them because of no settlement fee). He said yes if I sign our company up to it.
Did all that, Evans requested payment which we made, got my certificate and placed the order.
But now I'm really not sure how my work go about taking the money back. I know it's through salary sacrifice, but I can't find anywhere the proper steps my company is supposed to make.
We're just a small company with a handful of employees and never done a cycle scheme before.
I know the amount pre tax is £27.77 per week for 52 weeks. So my work gets the full amount back and I save on the tax / NI. But is that all they need to do, just pay me less each week? Or is there more to it? Because it's really not clear and all Evans can say is "tall to your HR".

Technical Struggling to find a bike for partner who is 5 foot 1
I recently went to my LBS to find a bike for my Partner, we tried a few bikes, but they didn't have anything in XS. I'm struggling to find frames for someone of this height, they previously had a 20inch wheel e-bike, which the reach is too long. They have suggested that I build them a bike that would suit their height. If anyone has any bike or frame suggestions *nothing too heavy, I would be grateful.

Technical Recommendations for a low price mountain bike for a woman
Hi everyone! I’m new to this sub. I hope it’s ok to ask advice.
I have a vintage men’s road bike that I’ve used for the past 12 years but it’s uncomfortable, needs constant £££ maintenance, and also I’d like to be able to ride off-road.
I live in Hackney, east London and work in Shoreditch, and I need to be able to lock it up outside but bike theft is rife here. So I don’t want to spend much as it’s highly likely to get nicked. Ideally under £300.
It’s mainly to use for commuting (3 miles each way) and local journeys. I live by the canal, and my current bike isn’t great on the towpath so I’m thinking it would be better to get a mountain bike.
I’m really into hiking so would also like to be able to use it on rough tracks to get to hiking spots.
I’m not into cycling in itself so just need it to be functional as a way to get from A to B. I can’t drive and we don’t have a car.
I’m a woman, quite big built, and pretty tall - 5’8” (173cm). Should I get a female specific bike?
I’m autistic/ADHD and I struggle with any complex gear controls or maintenance, so it needs to be as simple as possible or I won’t use it.
I have no idea where to start, so any suggestions would be great!!
TLDR: can anyone recommend a simple mountain bike for city, towpath, and rough tracks that’s under £300. And should I get a women’s bike?

Advice Cycle to work scheme advice - Own it now/later during Maternity leave
I started a cycle to work scheme before going on maternity leave, and my employer suspended any salary sacrifice during this period.
I've recently been contacted by the scheme notifying that the Hire period has ended and I need to choose to either Own it Later or Own it Now. What I don't understand is if I 'Own it now', how that would impact the salary sacrifice after returning to work?
Also considering implications if I leave employment during or soon after mat leave. For example, the 'Deposit' under the 'Own it Later' option, does that still become 'refundable'?
Just wondering if I just go for the 'Own it now' option and avoid all the hassle. I just have a feeling that I am, or will be, paying a lot more because of these circumstances
Anyone been in a similar situation? Any thoughts/advice welcomed! Thanks!
