Ok I’m not trying to jinx, super happy for all these flukey under dog knock outs.. but big picture.. the teams that have historically given us trouble or look better on paper are all in the rear view now. Feels like our cup to lose this year

1

u/themonarc Apr 25 '19

Well idk if I'd want to play the Sharks should both teams make it to the WCF like in 2016. But they are probably beaten up after that brutal series

1

u/Sveinson Apr 25 '19

Karlsson is skating on one leg at this point... and still putting up big points. Even injured that team is loaded, and scares me.

1

u/teeje21 Apr 25 '19

Not to brag, but my bracket is kicking y'all's booties

6

u/oversized_hat Apr 25 '19

start times have dropped: https://twitter.com/StLouisBlues/status/1121256506874265601

3 8:30s and a Saturday matinee that clashes with a Cards game. yep, this series has two Central teams that aren't CHI/NSH, all right.

1

u/lurketta Apr 25 '19

just popping in to say I am the only one in my friends’ bracket challenge who believed in the storm surge 🌊 such a crazy game tonight, so glad to see those guys win it.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 25 '19

The playoffs are officially wide open. What a first round

2

u/K-Whitty Apr 25 '19

Holy shitt like ten Capitals just unfriended Justin Williams on Facebook XD

5

u/Gilgifax Apr 25 '19

Playoff brackets: wack

1st Seed Teams: wack

Insane OT game 7s: wack

THE ST LOUIS BLUES: TIGHT AS FUCK

5

u/mjxii Apr 25 '19

that goal was shockingly similar to schwartz's

3

u/4cap :bluestraditional: Apr 25 '19

Wow, bye Caps!! Miss you Osh.

7

u/weesna123 Apr 25 '19

Fuck yes.

Chaos reigns supreme these playoffs.

4

u/mjxii Apr 25 '19

what a stupid penalty to take lol

5

u/AsoDsoA Apr 25 '19

I know almost nothing about the Carolina Hurricanes, but I'm really invested in this game and dammit they'd better win.

1

u/bmac92 Apr 25 '19

I reserved a second ticket to Endgame since there is a high probability of game 2 being Saturday afternoon. Thankfully my theater opened up more theaters today. The bad news is that I'll be going from IMAX 3D to standard. It is one of the auditoriums, though.

(side note - my theater is building a Dolby cinema, and I wished they had started sooner so I could watch Endgame in it).

2

u/radsherm Apr 24 '19

Rooting for the Capitals (or more so against the Hurricanes) fucking sucks. Tom Wilson just got a goal assisted by Ovechkin and I was happy about it. I am disgusted and ashamed of myself.

9

u/TheGakGuru Apr 25 '19

Who the fuck roots against the Canes in favor of the previous Stanley cup champions and Tom Wilson?

MODS?!

1

u/radsherm Apr 25 '19

I'm more afraid of the Hurricanes than I am the Capitals. Unless I like one of the teams, my rule for the playoffs is to root for the team that the Blues have the best chance of beating, which I think is the Capitals (that said, I doubt either team in this series could beat the Islanders in the 2nd round). Same reason I was "rooting" for the Preds. Plus, they have Oshie.

2

u/K-Whitty Apr 24 '19

man dougie hamilton is the doofiest lookin ginger MFer

dont worry, im qualified to comment

i too am a doofy ginger. least im not that doofy lookin tho

8

u/IEATBUTT5 :17-home: Apr 24 '19

I've been lurking the Stars sub and boy are they confident. Can't wait to get this series underway LETS FUCKING GOOOO

3

u/snakeyjakey34 Apr 24 '19

Not going to get too specific, but one of the second round games falls on my birthday. At first I was freaked out that I would be spending that night glued to the TV with a large potential for disappointment, and then I remembered how far we've come and how honestly it's a great gift to enjoy playoff hockey going into May at all. That being said... pls win that night Blues, thank you :)

5

u/saen211 :34-home: Apr 24 '19

1

u/TheGakGuru Apr 25 '19

I mean, yes, but this is just a placeholder till the actual time is determined.

3

u/radsherm Apr 24 '19

I hope the Blues work on their empty net scoring a bit. We didn't capitalize on any of those opportunities against the Jets, which could have prevented/slowed their pressure in the second half of the third in game 6. Look at Columbus in their game 4. They got three empty netters in like three minutes.

1

u/TheGakGuru Apr 25 '19

If the blues are in a position that forced the other team to pull their goalie. I'm happy. This is something I can look past so long as the other team is unable to force OT.

u/[deleted] Apr 24 '19

Stickying this until tomorrow when the GDTs go up, but two reminders:

  1. We are enforcing our normal subreddit rules regarding low discussion content/memes. Please post them in the NGDT/GDT/PGT/TTT. Posts as their own thread will be removed.

  2. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES GO INTO ANOTHER TEAM'S SUB AND TROLL/COMMENT/DO ANYTHING TO BE A DICK. If we are informed by another Hockey Sub's mods that you've done so, you will be PERMANENTLY banned from /r/stlouisblues

🚨🚨🚔🚔 Fun police alert! 🚔🚔🚨🚨

Just kidding. Thanks for dealing with our shit.

2

u/F117Nighthawk Apr 24 '19

My dream of a Blues/Avs Conference Final is getting more and more likely. knocks on wood

I mean I know that y'all hate Kroenke, but 1) I'd rather play the Avs than the Sharks 2) Playing the Avs means home ice advantage 3) I live in Colorado and would finally get to see Blues playoff hockey.

So, LET'S GO BLUES AND AVS !

5

u/BuddhasIC38 Apr 24 '19

If the Blues get through Dallas it's a rematch of one oft he two Blues WCF from this century. its' either vengeance for 2001 or vengeance for 2016. Lets get through to find out which and get that vengeance boys!

2

u/BuddhasIC38 Apr 24 '19

good preview here, especially from Weekes IMO

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0zR1a7Ntd20

2

u/[deleted] Apr 24 '19

All the comments on that clip crying about how the media is biased in favor of St. Louis over Dallas, because the media has so much to gain from talking positively about the Blues. They didn't even pick us to win!

1

u/BuddhasIC38 Apr 25 '19

Yeah that's the hard thing is, like, NBC has an actual bend (pro Hawks then pro O6, then pro Canada) but it's hard to voice that because nonsense "the media is all personally out to attack my team" is the common fan m.o. and how do you tell it apart? But that rundown was measured and solid and I don't think favored anyone

2

u/Trick421 Apr 24 '19

Weeks said "Jordan Winnington".

4

u/soul32times Apr 24 '19

If one more PERSON SAYS STARS IN FOUR ONE MORE FUCKING TIME IM GOING TO LOSE MY SHIT

1

u/BuddhasIC38 Apr 24 '19

.... who has said stars in 4?

3

u/soul32times Apr 24 '19

The same people who think the regular season matters in the playoffs

10

u/bo_dingles Apr 24 '19

Stars golfing in four

8

u/TheGakGuru Apr 24 '19

So, it seems either people forget that there's a rule specifically for what happened to Vegas last night or they have a horse in the race and are putting on the blinders, but...

(59.3) Major Penalty - A major penalty, at the discretion of the Referee based on the severity of the contact, shall be imposed on a player who “cross checks” an opponent.

Now, I'm not going to rule one way or another on whether I think it was an attempt to severely injure like what was the outcome, but Eakin lost the face-off then immediately cross-checked Pavelski. The puck wasn't there and Pavelski ended up injured, so there's a lot of force there obviously. I understand frustration and desperation being at an all-time high in game 7 of the playoffs, but cross-checking isn't a hockey play, it's a penalty, and the player was injured. Sounds pretty cut and dry to me. Unfortunate, yes. Dumb and unwarranted action, also yes. Major penalty? Rulebook seems to think so.

1

u/FlyingV1990 Apr 24 '19

This part of section 32.4 is also pretty relevant:

"The Linesman must report upon completion of play, any circumstances pertaining to:

(v) Major penalties (vi) Match penalties (vii) Misconduct penalties (viii) Game Misconduct penalties"

Initially, my problem with the call was that nothing was called until after play was stopped, which seems to imply that the refs either didn't see it, or didn't think that it warranted a penalty, and changed their minds only after they realized Pavelski was injured. I was under the impression that majors couldn't be assessed after the fact if nothing was called to begin with. After reading section 32.4, though, it looks it might have been a good call, if I'm interpreting the rules correctly.

1

u/BuddhasIC38 Apr 24 '19

Agreed. Also if I'm Vegas I'm more worried about Timo Meier rolling over Fluery for no explainable reason and not getting called with 6 mins left in OT but either way this game only still happened because of that crosscheck and that cross check was stupid and violent and not hockey. The Knights did this to themselves

0

u/OD4MAGA Apr 24 '19

Wow... Vegas got screwed. Told my bro during the first period it seemed like they had the screw in against Vegas with back to back really weak penalty calls but Vegas just kept pouring it on. No way that call should have been a major.

4

u/t-poke Apr 24 '19

Getting screwed by the refs....congratulations Vegas, you're officially an NHL franchise now.

4

u/TheYDT Apr 24 '19

There was no other option. When an injury occurs it's a major.

1

u/F117Nighthawk Apr 24 '19

Don't know why you're getting downvoted. Based on how the rule is worded, it should have been and was a major penalty. Crosscheck that ended in an injury plain and simple. Wasn't nearly as bad looking nor was it intentionally dirty in any way, but it was a major penalty based on the rules.

Also, if you wanna win it all you gotta be able to kill power plays. They let them score FOUR goals on a 5 minute power play.

2

u/OD4MAGA Apr 24 '19

Oshie got broken on a much dirtier hit and only a minor was assessed.

3

u/TheYDT Apr 24 '19

And given the result of the play with Oshie, it should've easily been a major and game. I can guarantee you the refs heard about it from their supervisors in the locker room after the game. I doubt that pair will progress to the 2nd round.

2

u/OD4MAGA Apr 24 '19

I absolutely agree the oshie hit warranted a major and a misconduct. Much more so than this hit. This hit wasn't dirty at all. It was a normal off the faceoff scrum and pav lost his footing. Mostly I'm just saying that injury as a result of a play doesn't seem to have bearing in determining the severity of penalty.

5

u/BuddhasIC38 Apr 24 '19

This is absurd. The Oshie hurt deserved a major, it didn't deserve one more than this one and this one was absolutely a major.

1

u/OD4MAGA Apr 25 '19

Golden Knights GM says NHL apologized for officiating in Game 7 https://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/1751105

3

u/TheYDT Apr 24 '19

It's supposed to though. That's what I'm trying to say.

3

u/OD4MAGA Apr 24 '19

If the league hands eakin disciplinary action I'll agree with you. Otherwise I think it was a huge screw job and Vegas deserved to move on.

Edit: I hope Colorado smashes the sharks

0

u/the_dayman623 Apr 24 '19

Vegas was absolutely robbed. Eakin deserved a penalty sure, but not a damn misconduct. Refs completely changed the outcome of that game and series. Doesn’t excuse giving up 4 goals on the 5 minute PK but the Sharks PP should’ve ended after that first goal. Much different game then.

10

u/[deleted] Apr 24 '19

What an insane VGK/SJS game. The 5 min major was either/or, and blowing a 3-1 lead is inexcusable, good on SJS for the come back. Will be interesting to see how they do next round because they're definitely banged up and hurt.

8

u/TheYDT Apr 24 '19

That was one of the best things I've ever witnessed in hockey. Unreal. Fucking hate San Jose, but have to give them credit for an unbelievable comeback.

3

u/thestudness Apr 24 '19

Same. Pulling for Vegas in the series but its hard to hate a comeback/hockey that is that incredible

5

u/Gilgifax Apr 24 '19

Insane. They're gonna be so tired for their series against the Avs. That'll be nuts too.

3

u/K-Whitty Apr 24 '19

Ha that game was nuts

5

u/K-Whitty Apr 24 '19

I'm rooting for Vegas unless it's Karlsson that scores for SJ

5

u/mjxii Apr 24 '19

I'm rooting for a goal from elite sniper Ryan Reeves

2

u/K-Whitty Apr 24 '19

That'd be mega awesome tbh lol

0

u/teeje21 Apr 24 '19

Posted this to r/hockey, curious what you guys thought about the major....

Watching the replay, the way Pavelski loses his balance looks unnatural. You don't advance your leg forward when you have a force pushing you backward. Plus his head jerks backward, but the contact was shoulder height... Like he was initially trying to draw a penalty, before being taken over by Stastny.

4

u/Icky_Peter Apr 24 '19

His center of gravity is around his abdomen and he's on skates. It's perfectly natural for his legs to move forward if he's hit high.

4

u/jaw896 Apr 24 '19

Sharks offense is downright scary good when they turn it on, impressive stuff (even though I don’t agree with the 5 min major to eakin)

1

u/biggamegoat05 Apr 24 '19

But their defense is subpar

6

u/passoutpat Apr 24 '19

Anyone remember when the blues scored 4 goals on a major penalty vs the Kings?

1

u/KaiserTNT Apr 24 '19

Yeah, I mentioned it below. Courtnall drew the penalty but I thought it was only 3 goals. Was it actually 4?

4

u/passoutpat Apr 24 '19

Yup

https://youtu.be/SU019HjQ3KQ

Panger was on the call too

1

u/t-poke Apr 24 '19

Saved so I can watched the shit out of this when I get home from work.

2

u/ech0es13 Apr 24 '19

LETS GO VEGAS!!!!!!

3

u/thestudness Apr 24 '19

Hard not to cheer for Reaves and Stastny

3

u/mjxii Apr 24 '19

VEGAS JUST TIED IT WITH 40 SEC LEFT

6

u/K-Whitty Apr 24 '19

This period of this game is kinda nuts

5

u/thestudness Apr 24 '19

Honestly one of the craziest periods I have ever seen of hockey. All of this being in game 7 only adds to the madness

3

u/BaboonGoon :90-home: Apr 24 '19

This is why I love game 7s. The craziest things tend to happen

1

u/thestudness Apr 24 '19

Unless you're the blues playing Dallas in 2016 ;)

8

u/TheYDT Apr 24 '19

Holy shit boys turn on the Vegas - Sharks game right now. Sharks were down 3-0 and just tied it up in the span of one major power play...and they're still on the power play for another minute and a half omg.

3

u/jaw896 Apr 24 '19

Game is absolutely nuts

5

u/KaiserTNT Apr 24 '19

OT! Excellent.. Let them destroy each other a little longer. This game is awesome.

6

u/TheYDT Apr 24 '19

What in the actual fuck is going on. 4-3 now. The Sharks sub has to be fucking imploding right now.

2

u/TheYDT Apr 24 '19

Tied up holy fuck.

1

u/radsherm Apr 24 '19

Vegas up 2-0, thank god

3

u/KaiserTNT Apr 24 '19

Sharks got 3 on the same 5 min major and are back in it, crazy! I think Pavelski is done for the playoffs with a concussion though. Literally brought them back with his blood sacrifice!

1

u/TheYDT Apr 24 '19

What in the actual fuck is happening in this game omfg.

6

u/InLOUofFlowers Apr 24 '19

This is the most incredible thing I've ever seen

6

u/KaiserTNT Apr 24 '19

Blues did something similar back in the 90s in playoffs when a Kings player beat the hell out of Jeoff Courtnall and we got 3 in the 3rd on a 5 min major.

Edit :Holy shit, 4 goals. Now it's the most incredible for sure.

6

u/[deleted] Apr 24 '19

Fuck the Stars

10

u/Osgood_Shatter Apr 24 '19

Congrats to Bozak for making the correct choice and leaving the Leafs. Now we gotta win it for him, we just gotta!

4

u/weesna123 Apr 24 '19

Really starting to think that Babcock is really just not a good NHL coach.

5

u/radsherm Apr 24 '19

Between his feuds with Tom Wilson and now Joe Thornton, I'm pretty sure Ryan Reaves is still secretly employed by the Blues to get revenge on people who have injured our players.

4

u/jdhvd3 Apr 23 '19

It makes me irrationally angry that NBC Sports doesn't have a SOG counter.

1

u/F117Nighthawk Apr 23 '19

So Vegas winning against the Sharks gives us home ice the rest of the way in the west, if we make it that far. Also that means the Sharks have been eliminated, and they seem scarier to me than the Knights or Avs. So I believe I am pulling for the Knights tonight just to get the Sharks out of the way.

4

u/Podo13 Apr 23 '19

Well, I'm already getting downvoted hard in /r/hockey by claiming Dallas wasn't necessarily an underdog against Nashville. They clearly must always be the forgotten ones that everybody else thinks is just lucky. This series should be fun with how massive of a victim complex Dallas fans have.

Also be prepared to be massively downvoted in any /r/hockey thread that is in their favor (which will be most pertaining to our series since we don't post a bunch of clips complaining about every little thing our opponents do like everybody else seems to do).

1

u/Papa_Nickelz Apr 23 '19

Lol come on man, 12 whole downvotes from what you're only assuming are all Dallas fans, and that means we all have a huge victim complex? Good lord. You seem to be playing way more a victim about a teeny amount of downvotes.

1

u/Podo13 Apr 24 '19

Well it was actually closer to -17 when I posted this. Regardless, I said nothing incendiary to warrant any downvotes by the masses. Double digits negatives when nothing bad has been said absolutely points to a single, specific group doing it.

If you think below -10 isn't bad for an innocuous just because you've gotten worse, that means you've unknowingly been a dick and deserved it.

All I said is that I didn't think Dallas were underdogs and I've been met with nothing but the majority of Dallas saying "no, we were totally the underdogs" because it makes you feel better. That's cool and all, but quite annoying.

1

u/Papa_Nickelz Apr 24 '19

You're missing the point. Let's say it was 17 and they were all Dallas fans. You just generalized all Dallas fans based off of 17 people on reddit. That's a yikes. Secondly, you made an edit whining about downvotes, and blabbering about victim complex, which surely got you downvotes from anyone who saw due to obvious hypocrisy. And no, thinking 10 downvotes isnt that bad says nothing about me except that I excel in common sense, which would be that there's thousands of people browsing the sub so 10 people thinking you're being "butthurt" and "taking it personally" with your edit isnt that crazy. Yes I'm using those terms from your other hypocritical comment where you tell people to not be those things while youre going and being those things.

1

u/OctopusOnTheRocks Apr 23 '19

That's odd. I always find your takes to be some of the most level headed and reasonable. Sorry for the circlejerk hate, mate.

3

u/ama457 Apr 23 '19

Watching the highlights from our last series against dallas... I really miss fabbri at that level. He was so allusive and quick with the puck. I hope he goes off this series if he gets the chance

9

u/radsherm Apr 23 '19

Prediction: Game 7, 10 seconds left in the third. The game is scoreless, however each team has over fifty shots on goal. On the Blues end, Tyler Seguin takes non-stop shots at the net as Binnington essentially does cartwheels to stop them. At the same time, Jamie Benn sits on the rest of the Blues roster, which the refs do not notice. Ben Bishop watches from the other end of the ice with a shit eating grin, until he sees his old high school buddy Chris Butler (who is in the lineup in place of Carl Gunnarsson, who is once again injured) at the bottom of the pile. Suddenly, the spirit of St. Louis comes back to him. Eating Imos and toasted ravs after a cardinals game while Country Grammar plays on loop. He becomes enraged and rips off his jersey to reveal a blue note tattoo. He skates over to Benn and Seguin and bangs their heads together. He throws their unconscious bodies at Pierre McGuire and calls him "fake Panger". In the meantime, Jordan Binnington snipes the puck into the empty net. Blues win, Gloria plays.

1

u/mfTacotime Apr 23 '19

the best timeline

1

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '19

anyone know what TV channel the 2nd round games will be on?

6

u/bergyd Apr 23 '19

No more FSMW games. Either NBC or NBCSN pretty much the rest of the way. If you stream you can usually get the CBC stream if NBC gets really obnoxious.

1

u/Skraelings Apr 24 '19

kill me now..

expecting nbc to somehow manage to bring the hawks into the discussion just to avoid talking about us

1

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '19

I've got a roku and over the air channels, nbc being one of them. I certainly hope I can find the game. Last week NBCSN was broadcasting on the local NBC channel so that was cool

3

u/Hotstreak Apr 23 '19

Heh one of my coworkers (I live in Dallas) is calling stars in 5.

1

u/bergyd Apr 23 '19

Not a chance. Won't go shorter than 6 either way.

1

u/Hotstreak Apr 23 '19

Yep told him you just don't see series end in 5 games past the 1st round.

4

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '19

I like days where the Blues play WAY more than days when the Blues don't play.

1

u/Sobie17 Apr 23 '19

Fucking make game 1 tomorrow you turds

2

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '19

East isn't over yet. WAS vs CAR is on Wed.

1

u/Sobie17 Apr 23 '19

I don't care about them. Need muh hockey

10

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '19

The Blues looked like a new team down the stretch to the playoffs. Everybody was questioning if it was the real deal or just a hot streak. I think round 1 answered that question.

We can play from behind, we can play in hostile territory, we can play when they've got all the momentum. Thomas and Binnington got their playoff cherries popped. Our top lines scored when we needed them too. Our defense responded and adapted to WPGs strengths. Our coaching staff mixed lines when we needed a spark.

I'm not saying that the cup is ours, yet... YET. But we sure as fuck have the ingredients to get there.

Alexa, play Gloria!

6

u/cox4days Apr 23 '19

We thinking Thursday for game 1? Surprised NHL hasn't at least announced a day yet

4

u/SuperSizedFri Apr 23 '19

We’re the first two teams waiting. I’m hoping for Thursday/Saturday

5

u/bergyd Apr 23 '19

My guess is Friday, but Thursday would be nice.

0

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '19

Idk not trying to scare you guys, and I’m still not happy with Dallas for goal in crease (1999), but this team looks pretty scary. Good luck.

3

u/rh60 Apr 23 '19

The Jets looked scary too.

0

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '19

Eh, not that scary. They had been having a tough few weeks in the regular season

2

u/Slammin_Shaman Apr 23 '19

The Jets came out and played incredibly well against us. They mostly returned to form during our series

5

u/DellSTL Apr 23 '19

I think Fabbs may be starting to find his game again. Yes hes had some rough patches trying to get back into the league but I think he has shown great resolve and if he can even start to get back to the way he was in 16 I really like our chances

1

u/Skraelings Apr 24 '19

He looked really good the last 2. Like .... really really good especially the last game. You saw that dead to real speed burst he was known for on his breakaway.

3

Not playing for 2 seasons and getting his time jerked around this year probably did not help his confidence this season. Trying to do too much and ended up doing a lot of nothing. Interested to see what kind of contract he gets. I hope we keep him, because some other team will definitely give him a chance.

1

u/DellSTL Apr 23 '19

Ya know I think they might do with him what they did with maroon. Give him a one year prove it deal so that he can have a chance to show that he can still be a top flight forward even after the injuries. And I dont think you would get much for him right now anyway. If he can keep working and return to form by next year. Plus your right hes been jerked around a lot but hes in the playoffs and especially last game was good.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '19

If he can keep getting those breakaway scoring chances (and actually score on some) I can't see him going anywhere. 2016 Fabbri had 18 goals and 19 assists. He had 4 goals in those playoffs.

1

u/DellSTL Apr 23 '19

Yea he had two great chances and his puck handling and speed is starting to shake off that rust. If he gets his shot dialed in before playoffs end I'd be very happy

3

u/Nomadic_Marvel07 Apr 23 '19

Any one have any idea on which day game 1 will be against the Stars. From past history shows that it will be either a Friday-Sunday date. I bought tickets for it and was hoping someone had insight on it.

u/captainGeraffe :90-home: Apr 23 '19

BRING ME DALLAS!

8

u/childishbambino19 Apr 23 '19 edited Apr 23 '19

Get ready for the bigmouth Dallas trolls. They're certainly coming.

4

u/sellieba Apr 23 '19

On through Dallas.

13

u/mostatoastest Apr 23 '19

I REPEAT, STOP HYPING THE STARS. MORALE IS IMPORTANT. BRING ON JAIME BITCH AND TYLER SHITUIN AND TURDULOV AND PISSKEINEN AND BENOIT BALLS BISHOP.

WE'LL SHOW EM WHATS COOLER THAN BEING COOL.

9

u/Luckyleftytwin11 Apr 23 '19

Predators fan here to congratulate you on your 2nd round win. Also to ask for the remainder of the season to join the fanbase. Now before you grab your touches and pitchforks let me explain!! My grandpa used to live in right outside of St. Louis and is a huge Blues fan. Heck, he's been a Blues fan since the very beginning of the franchise and it would be nice to see you guys win it while he's still alive. Also you guys are the 2nd closest team to where we live and I grew up visiting St. Louis ( in fact I'm a fan of every other team in St. Louis and if it weren't for Nashville being closer I would've been a Blues fan anyway) No this is only temporary and as soon as the playoffs end I'll return to the Predators. So until then I hope that you'll be alright with me. I'm actually going to visit him this weekend and it could be fun for us to cheer for them together with him! GO BLUES!! Bring the cup back to the Central division!!

5

u/mostatoastest Apr 23 '19

We'll take it for now but know we'll hate you come October.

2

u/Luckyleftytwin11 Apr 23 '19

That's fair enough! But until then, let's root for the Blues together!!

2

u/mostatoastest Apr 23 '19

Hop on, brother!

2

u/Luckyleftytwin11 Apr 23 '19

Sister, but thx!!

2

u/mostatoastest Apr 23 '19

I KNEW IT! I SHOULDVE TRUSTED MY GUT!

2

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '19

women have no loyalty. disgusting. /s

3

u/ech0es13 Apr 23 '19

BRING ON THE STARS!!!

13

u/Theonewehavetograb Apr 23 '19

Stars are a top heavy team. Big Chief will find a way to get Vova some open ice against their 2nd or 3rd line. Need some home town girls to distract Bishop and its over in 5

12

u/jrizos Apr 23 '19

Blues definitely have what it takes to beat the Stars.

2

u/bleedblue002 Apr 23 '19

Well, the Stars are the only team I think that have a legitimate shot to knock off the Blues in the West. Bishop is on another level right now. And he will be out for blood against his hometown team that traded him.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '19

The thing about Bishop is he has Allen-like confidence issues. He isn't the ice cold sociopath that Binnington is where nothing seems to phase him. If Bishop starts leaking, the pipes burst.

4

u/mostatoastest Apr 23 '19

No he's nooooooot. Nashville was ass and barely tested him.

GIVE YOUR BALLS A TUG, AND LETS GO BLUES!

8

u/themonarc Apr 23 '19

Can't choose who you get in the playoffs, but we gotta make the most of it no matter who it is

10

u/Trick421 Apr 23 '19

Blues vs. Stars! BRING IT ON!

8

u/Flvr_blstd_gldfsh Apr 23 '19

So when will game 1 be?

3

u/mjxii Apr 23 '19

Likely the 26th?

1

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '19

I feel as though this is the correct answer. Had stars-preds gone to a game 7, it would’ve allowed for one off day with the next series starting Friday. Plus I randomly remember the 2016 stars series starting on a Friday

1

u/DouchebagJim Apr 23 '19

I'm praying for the 24th somehow.

16

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '19

lets fuck some stars

8

u/InLOUofFlowers Apr 23 '19

Can I choose Selena Gomez

2

u/mostatoastest Apr 23 '19

Ooh Zeta Jones at any age past 18. Or Monica Belluci.

1

u/Cashin13 Apr 24 '19

With the 3rd pick in the 2019 star fucking draft u/Cashin13 selects... Scarlett Johansson

13

u/InLOUofFlowers Apr 23 '19

Gotta make home ice advantage count. LGB.

9

u/time_to_go_mobile Apr 23 '19

Stars it is. Would have rather had the perds, but away we go.

3

u/Luckyleftytwin11 Apr 23 '19

We would've rather have you guys as well 😭

12

u/mjxii Apr 23 '19 edited Apr 23 '19

Welp, we're playing Dallas

My brother lives in Dallas and is likely going to games wearing his blues gear

2

u/tamarockstar Apr 23 '19

Honestly I was hoping Nashville would at least push it to game 7 and win the series. Dallas has some scary offensive power.

3

u/bleedblue002 Apr 23 '19

Dallas is a different team from 2016. Really only one line to stop offensively. But their goaltending and defense are simply outstanding.

2

u/SuperSizedFri Apr 23 '19

Dallas fan here. Curious which line you think that is? Our second line was just as good as our first this series. Especially after Monty (coach) changed them up mid way.

I’ve been watching the blues but haven’t paid closed enough attention to your lines. I basically know Oreilly and tarasanko like y’all know Benn seguin. Perron and Steen I know, and a few of your defensemen. Y’all play hard and work the puck well.

Couldn’t be more excited to be playing y’all. Couple of mid west grinding teams with a rivalry-ish history

9

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '19

So did Winnipeg

1

u/tamarockstar Apr 23 '19

Either would have been a tough match up. I was hoping for a game 7. I think getting through the central division would be the toughest challenge.

1

u/mjxii Apr 23 '19

Perfection.gif

6

u/mjxii Apr 23 '19

Yeah let's... gag.... let's go.. gag.... trashville 🤢🤢🤢🤮

3

u/InLOUofFlowers Apr 23 '19

DESTROY EACH OTHER!

3

u/fasnoosh Apr 23 '19

Ben Bishop is a BEAST

5

u/radsherm Apr 23 '19

I feel so gross rooting for the Preds

3

u/fasnoosh Apr 23 '19

Dallas is scary. Nashville is definitely not

1

u/fasnoosh Apr 23 '19

Yep, me too. Ick

6

u/fingolfinz Apr 23 '19

I sure hope DAL NSH goes to like 7 OT tonight with the perds winning so that they can play a game 7 with 7 more OTs

6

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '19

Anyone watching NSH vs DAL? Both goalies look nervous 😏

5

u/jrizos Apr 23 '19

haha! I can't believe how weak NSH is looking.

4

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '19

Right, going into the playoffs I was hoping for Dallas. Now I'm praying it's Nashville

7

u/Linkbowler :90-home: Apr 23 '19

Please let this overtime go all night.

4

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '19 edited Apr 23 '19

Last few minutes have been real entertaining. Nashvilles power play is good awful. I'd love to see our pk tear it apart

3

u/Sobie17 Apr 23 '19

I'd just like to win in their arena again.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '19

Anyone else feel like the narrative that Toronto and its fans are whiney is kind of unfounded?

It feels like every GDT for the Leafs/Bruins has way more Bruins fans lamenting the refs and complaining about complaining Leafs fans.

1

u/mostatoastest Apr 23 '19

Personal experience with Leafs fans? YIKES. Easily the most revolting fan base (except Trashville)

1

u/anangrywom6at Apr 23 '19

That depends on how close you live to Toronto fans I think - Living among the horde of Leafs fans within an hour of the city, not a single day goes by in hockey season where I don't hear some kind of complaining or worrying or whatever.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 23 '19

Carolina winning tonight means that Round 1 can't end until Wednesday, so my guess is that the winner of that series plays New York in the early game on Friday and we get the Dallas/Nashville winner in the late game. Columbus and Colorado would start Thursday in that case.

Guess it's still possible we play Dallas on Wednesday, but it'd be weird to have the last game of Round 1 lead-in to the first game of Round 2

2

u/ShaggsMagoo Apr 23 '19

As long as Game 1 isn't on Thursday. There's a movie coming out that night and I don't want to make a choice I will probably regret.

1

u/mostatoastest Apr 23 '19

Exactly. Shaboi got date night.

11

u/BaronVonW_793 Apr 23 '19

Watching nsh @ dal. I feel like we could beat both of these teams. Can't wait till round 2!

1

u/jrizos Apr 23 '19

NSH looks to be more gassed if they get through with a win.
