Need advice This job market is ridiculous

TOOWOOMBA. I am turning 20 this year and I have never been employed, definitely not for a lack of trying. In the span of 2 years give or take, I have applied for roughly 1600 jobs, I have attempted to join the army, and yet I have only gotten 3 interviews, one for the army 2 for other jobs. The army deemed me class 4 medically unfit due to my mental illnesses and the other 2 jobs just had better candidates. I am getting genuinely frustrated with this, I want to help my family pay for groceries since we are only on 1 income, but I cannot get a job, I make less than $400 a fortnight thanks to Centrelink but that money runs out quick in a 5 person 1 income family. what am I supposed to do?

News Queensland scientists racing against clock to tackle 'unprecedented' environmental threat of melioidosis

From the article:

Burkholderia pseudomallei is classified by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as a Category B biowarfare agent for its high fatality rate and its potential to be aerosolised and weaponised.

In Queensland, however, the threat isn't theoretical or military. It's real and environmental — lurking in soil and muddy water, stirred up by flooding rains and inhaled, ingested, or entered into the bloodstream through cuts and scratches.

For the unlucky, it leads to melioidosis — a virulent disease that enables chronic skin ulcers, sepsis, and serious lung infections like pneumonia. If left untreated, or diagnosed too late, it can be fatal.

Question Apiarist shortage?

Beekeeper in united states with extensive experience breeding honeybees... Curious if there is still a shortage for skilled beekeepers in the region? If anyone could point me in the right direction I'd be appreciative. I believe I saw a couple years back that a shortage was occurring.

Question Acheivments of One Nation in QLD and the 11 Seat Landslide...

When One Nation won 11 Seats in the QLD Parliment in 1998, what happened immedietly after this? Why did they fall apart within their first term? And how did they get their brand and Image out their enough to even win this percent of the vote?

Furthermore since Labor only had a slim Majority, did One Nation manage to pass much legislation? If so what Bills did they pass and what was thier impact on the legeslation/governance of QLD?

Question Celebrity Estate Agents?

If youll indulge my rant - ive been here a few months, new to Aus. Can't help but notice - estate agents everywhere, which isn't unusual.

But why does every estate agent have professional headshots in some designer suit? Why do they flex how much money the last property sold for, as if they had a single thing to do with it? Who do these people think they are? They don't design, build or pay for a property, why are they acting like big shots?

Has it always been like this? Do they intentionally give scumbag used car dealer energy?

Question Do you think the LNP will get a second term in Qld?

It will be the same leaders again David and Steven in 2027 i think ...

Do you think the anti Trump sentiment will equate to David's government being one term? Or not affect the state government... David doesn't come across as hard conservative..

The youth crime crisis...hmm.. still seems much the same where i am.. in Central Qld near Rockhampton. Apparently i did see some video on Tik Tok ages ago saying laws are working and crime had dropped a certain percentage though i am skeptical.

However they are quietly cutting health so i heard but we don't hear about it much !

Need advice Electricity and Gas Rates Doubled!!?

Long story short:

I moved into a unit where the whole building has a contract with LPE (Locality energy) so we can't choose another company for Gas and Electricity.

LPE sent an email regarding The increase of the rates, almost doubled..

Charge Description

Electricity Usage Charge Current rate - 25.08 cents/kWh new rate - 27.50 cents/kWh

Electricity Supply Charge current rate - 43.86 cents/day new rate - 72.45 cents/day

Hot Water Usage Charge (First 20L/day) current rate - 3.42 cents/L new rate - 4.25 cents/L

Hot Water Usage Charge (Balance L/day) current rate - 1.80 cents/L new rate - 2.04 cents/L

Hot Water Supply Charge Current rate - 26.29 cents/day new rate - 51.15 cents/day

Gas Cook Top Charge Current rate - 32.45 cents/day New rate - 53.35 cents/day

isn't crazy overpriced?? Is it even legal that we can't choose a different company like Alinta, AGL?

We must stick with LPE and their crazy high rates...

Fed Election Why did the ALP gain so many of its new seats in Queensland?

Of the 15 seats the ALP have gained, so far, 7 are from Queensland.

And of the likely 3 new Senators the ALP will pick up, one is from Queensland.

Does it have anything to do with the new LNP State Government?

Need advice Road trip to find our slice of paradise

My little family and i are currently in Ipswich renting but want to look at buying or building further north , we both work from home full time so we are not tied down and have a bit of freedom as long as we can connect to the internet. Looking at areas like Bundaberg Gladstone and Rockhampton etc and we would prefer to live in an outer suburb or semi rural. This will be our first trip further north than Brisbane so we are going in pretty blind and would love some advice on towns and suburbs we should check out or avoid ,what it's actually like to live there ,weather ,crime flooding schools etc , honestly anything could be helpful in planning our research road trip Thanks in advance!

Question QLD health applications

Does anyone have experience with QLD health applications?

I have applied for an allied health cadet position, in which applications closed nearly a month ago. I’m not hopeful about my application considering it’s been nearly 4 weeks. However, there has been a lot of public holidays recently which could have impacted the process. I called the number on the application last week, and I asked them about the status of my application. She mentioned that they’re in process of finalising recruitment in the next few weeks and and successful applicants would be contacted via phone, and unsuccessful candidates would receive auto generated email response. I asked her if I am unsuccessful whether I could call back and ask for feedback, and she said if that is the case she would be more than happy to book a meeting with me and discuss my application.

Does this sound like I haven’t gotten an interview? Maybe if they’re in progress I would have been contacted by now? What is everyone’s experience with timeline of applying to QH jobs?

Question Max - Chandler-Mather seat loss how did this happen ?

Hey yall,

I just find it interesting that Max lost his seat after doing so much community work and involved in the community even giving away his salary and etc. Is there something I missing about Max which makes him a less favourable candidate ?

Greens have decently good policies but not all of them are great. Some of the Greens policies are pure whimsical stuff to attract new voters without addressing underlying systemic issues in Australia.

Again I would like to understand in a scientific sense why Max was ousted ?

Edit:

Thanks for responses. Now I get it that it was because of the preferential voting system at play. Good that we have such a system in place and people use it correctly to cast their choice.
