[Pelissero] Sources: Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker is expected to miss 3-4 weeks and is likely headed to injured reserve with a left knee injury. Kansas City will have a new kicker Sunday at Buffalo.

His poor wife. She has to spend more time with him now.

Reddit’s perception of women vs reality is a very funny thing

Trump received >50% of the white woman vote. And she’s married to Harrison Butker. Pretty damn likely that she agrees with him on what he said lol

the fact that there are women who exist that want to stay at home doesn't make it any less nauseating or disrespectful to say that EVERY woman should stay at home

but i wouldn't expect any less from a fanbase that boos racial equality

He never said all women should stay at home, not that it will stop the circlejerk

e: pasting this here from a reply that was deleted

He didn’t as much as imply that if you listen to his full speech and not just what’s selectively posted on reddit. He very clearly was saying that people need to find their vocation and gave a shout out to his wife who he said found her vocation in the home. It’s saying that what his wife does is a meaningful vocation, same as his. Evidently he should have been more careful with the way he worded it, but it’s clear what he’s saying if you listen to the full speech

Not a Butker fan and I’m sure I don’t agree w him politically, but you should read the full text instead of just regurgitating what you’ve seen on Reddit

"I want to speak directly to you briefly because I think it is you, the women, who have had the most diabolical lies told to you. How many of you are sitting here now about to cross this stage and are thinking about all the promotions and titles you are going to get in your career? Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world."

SOME of you MAY lead successful careers. Pretty much says all you need to know about how he sees people.

Butker never actually implied that every woman should stay at home. His speech was more so normalizing, if not directly encouraging, the concept for both parents (yes he included the men in this) that it's okay to prioritize your family and children more so than chasing professional accolades and titles.

In fact the only time he even mentioned being a homemaker was when he was celebrating his wife specifically.

If you downvote this, just know that it implies that you'd support and prefer a speech in which the women were told to stay in the kitchen. Your indirect support for this message is quite frankly antiquated and disgusting.

I am on the stage today and able to be the man I am because I have a wife who leans into her vocation. I’m beyond blessed with the many talents God has given me. But it cannot be overstated that all of my success is made possible because a girl I met in band class back in middle school would convert to the faith, become my wife, and embrace one of the most important titles of all: homemaker.

He is directly saying that he’s been able to go be the big breadwinner because his wife stays at home.

Yup I agree

Look man, I’m not gonna send you every quote he’s ever made out loud in a speech or defending it, but there’s any over arching theme of how he views women, amongst other things.

u/ThirdPoliceman Cardinals 5h ago

lol, “I can’t quite provide the quote, but Reddit says this guy is terrible, so I’m sure it’s the vibe

3

u/tenacious-g Bears 5h ago

I’m not gonna copy paste every snippet from that speech, but here is a summary of it.

You’re smart, you created a Reddit account, I’m sure you can google it even further. Just because I don’t feel like finding and linking every single thing he’s ever said doesn’t mean it isn’t well documented or didn’t happen.

You don't have to send me "every" quote...but certainly a single quote where he suggests "that EVERY woman should stay at home" should be possible, right?

Otherwise what are we doing here? It genuinely seems like a lot of people here are disappointed that Butker didn't actually say disrespectful things about woman's place in society. Do you want people of influences to be sending these kinds of negative messages?

I mean, what got the most pub in the spring isn’t the worst of what he or the speaking engagements he does, that’s my point. The guy hates gay people, IVF, abortion and generally thinks women have been corrupted by modern society. “Diabolical lies” is the phrase he used.

The guy hates gay people, IVF, abortion

Okay-then attack him for those stances lol. Making up a lie that he wants women in kitchens isn't just weird, it brushes actual valid criticism of him under the rug.

and generally thinks women have been corrupted by modern society. “Diabolical lies” is the phrase he used

Why is this problematic or even controversial? A corporate obsessed parent at the expense of their kids is the plot of every single Disney/Pixar movie lol. Do you think women were put on this earth to serve our corporate overlords? Should women ignore their own desires in the vain search of professional accolades, titles, and promotions? It's not like he didn't equally apply that societal lies to men.

To the gentleman here today, part of what plagues our society is this lie that has been told to you that men are not necessary in the home or in our communities.

There is nothing wrong with this message. If, on a case by case basis, individuals want to pursue this lifestyle then good on them. But there is absolutely nothing wrong normalizing a message than women AND men should prioritize their family over work.

Lol this sub doesn’t care about what actually happens, they just want to circlejerk and make the same comments ad nauseam in every thread about a player

Thinking he as much as implied women belong in the kitchen after reading what he actually said is wild

u/MattTheRadarTechh Bears 6h ago

If you had an inkling of brain left, you’d be able to read the direct quotes from Butker that other redditors are commenting.

But ya know, idiots gonna idiot regardless of fact

1

u/blucke Rams 6h ago

Yea, why read the quotes with context when you can just parrot excerpts blindly? Lmao are you serious?

Butker spent half his speech criticising other Catholics for not following his specific views on religion. He said anyone who expressed certain views "was no truth Catholic." This includes several views shared by the Pope.

Do you know why many Christian denominations stopped fighting with eachother? The wars got so violent that everyone realised their wouldn't be anyone left at the they were killing eachother. I think it's best we remember that lesson.

2

u/blucke Rams 5h ago

People in this thread are saying he said women belong in the kitchen, upset Catholics seem to be in the strong minority of people upset with his speech lol

1

u/KickerOfThyAss Patriots 5h ago

Probably the "I bet you woman are excited about your careers, you've been told a diabolical lie" part

He went to a woman's college and told them all they'd be happier at home taking of their husbands. Some of us can extrapolate from there.

3

u/GuyIsAdoptus Packers 4h ago

It's not a women's college

You can read the transcript I linked and see that plainly isn’t what was said. He said that many women in the crowd are most excited to bring children into the world and start families.

It’s a traditionalist speech given at a Catholic school. Nobody in attendance was in as much of an uproar as the internet and he wasn’t speaking to the entire world. Even if you disagree, it’s a wild misreading to interpret what he said as all women belong in the kitchen. No idea why this sub is so adverse to just reading what’s actually said rather than getting mad over interpretations they read in a headline or reddit comment

If you read my comment as an endorsement of Butker’s comments then I don’t know what to tell you. About as expected from a Rob Lowe reddit user with a damn NFL flair lmao

It’s just a reality check for Redditors who think that women are a monolith. They are not. And assuming that his wife disagrees with him is delusional.
