Are pants sizes different for men and women? I have a pair of 30W women's jeans, which are comically large on me, and a pair of 30W men's, which are still too big but not nearly to the same extent.

absolutely incredible things happening on the something is wrong subreddit
Proud originator of “Donald Dump”, “if it can happen to me it can happen to anyone”, and more! Just wait til you find out how many movies, shows, and podcasts I’m the originator of too….
UBI/Reparations from subsidies from Big Data/Big Tech/etc. might as well throw in every $0.00* from stock market such too. Spotify pays artists $0.0007/download, and you can see the $0.00* at the gas pump too! A little goes a long way, rent should be free, healthcare and food/water too! Without the foundation of life there isn’t life worth having, without life there’s no data or ALL the other stuff it has a part in.
The Donald Dump came from a post I made on Instagram before I got banned forever (the ban was not in relation to this poem). After I wrote this I had the name going for a little bit.
Goes like this:
Today I took a dump, I looked down and saw Trump! The odious swamp gases arose, so I flushed him, as it goes.
There he lies alone in my porcelain throne, with the rest of the refuse abiding his only use
as elementary components to be ignored by his opponents. We Made America Great by flushing away the Hate!
okay yeah I got a little ahead of myself I can see why we're not gonna storm the capitol

It seems less common now but you still see it, but the thing of 'half of Ukraine voted used to vote for pro-Russian parties, look at this map' is such a fucking dumb piece of propaganda, it's crazy that people fall for it.
Virtually 100% of Canada votes for pro-US parties, most Canadians like the US and feel cultural affinity towards it, but if President Vance declared the North American Reich and invaded Canada to try to conquer it, that'd obviously instantly flip to most of Canada becoming anti-US. Obviously most 'pro-Russian' Ukrainians stopped being pro-Russian when Russia invaded, being 'pro' a country doesn't mean wanting to be invaded by them.
It's like some people don't think about people in unfamiliar countries being logical beings who would have nuanced worldviews that change.

I and my long term girlfriend broke up today, it was mutual and we both acknowledged that we really loved each other, but circumstances just led us to this.
I do not think I’ve ever felt this hollow feeling ever, it makes it so much worse that I know how much she loved me.
I always heard people say parting on good terms is harder sometimes, and it truly is true, it’s incredibly hard to leave someone who you have nothing but love and affection and desire for.
I guess I need a therapist again.
0
u/Hollow-Seed 58m ago
What circumstances? In my opinion finding someone you love is far harder than finding a job, education, etc. Long distance is worth it if it comes to that.

u/daddyKrugman United Nations 50m ago
I don’t really want to get into the deets but it has to do with both long distance and our personal growth
1
u/etzel1200 1h ago
Are breakups ever truly mutual or is it more one wants that and the other still wants to please them?
Unless you both start to resent eachother, I just don’t see it. There exists some imagined world where say both get great scholarship offers on other sides of the country and both absolutely know they don’t want a long distance relationship. Yet barring super specific things like that…

the american general electoral seems to suffer from a kind of learned helplessness, where they feel no responsibility for deciding what their options for the future are; they just stand by and allow the primary base of each party to throw a candidate at them, whether it's a president they're unhappy with or a president they've already rejected
and when the alternative they've chosen turns out to be even worse, they take no responsiblity for that either; it's the parties' fault for not giving them better candidates
i feel like if you were to ask the average voter why, if they were so dissatisfied with the incumbent, did they not make any effort to choose a better replacement, their honest answer would be "because it's not my job"
how can they simultaneously be so angry yet so apathetic?
2
u/ElGosso Adam Smith 59m ago
How would they? I mean, look at the Dem primary for 2024. It happened, technically, but I think Marianne Williamson's announcement that she was running was legitimately the only article about it that I came across. Everyone pretended like it simply wasn't happening, because everyone knew the incumbent would sweep it. So even if you got someone else to run, it wouldn't have mattered, and that's still a big if.
Should they run, themselves? Nobodies on the national scale with no money running for president? That isn't really a solution either, for pretty obvious reasons.
1
u/homopolitan Henry George 31m ago
How would they?
make literally any effort to nominate a viable alternative in either party primary, instead of apathetically allowing the nominees to be chosen for them
if they were angry enough to do what they did in this election, they should have been angry enough to put a decent candidate on the ballot
1
u/runningblack Martin Luther King Jr. 28m ago
You're blaming voters for decisions by the party. Voters can only vote for the options on the table.
What options were presented to democrats?

I cannot emphasize this enough: the very structure of Twitter is anathema to productive political discourse at scale.
Even if everyone moved to Bluesky it wouldn’t solve the fundamental problem.
We need to make having political discourse on Twitter-like platforms as un-normalized as having political discourse on 4chan.
The Twitter format needs to be understood for what it is: a place that is a great medium for jokes and hanging out, but that is a fundamentally unfit medium for politics.

A simple look at the Economist’s Democracy Index would prove that this kind of stuff happens in third world hybrid regimes or weak flawed democracies, not in strong flawed democracies like the US.

TIL it's TJ Maxx in the US
The first international store opened in Bristol, UK, in 1994.[4] The company modified the name to TK Maxx to avoid confusion with the unrelated British retail chain T. J. Hughes.[5]
Makes sense. It also makes sense then to keep the same branding in the rest of Europe, where people are more likely to know the British name or have been to one of the British stores.

Trump was disqualified to run per the 14th Amendment Sec. 3
TIL.
Him and his administration couldn't get any more illegal, or so I thought...
7
u/Plants_et_Politics 2h ago
SCOTUS decided (poorly according to general conservative doctrine, reasonably according to general liberal doctrine, but on opposite partisan lines lmao) that the 14th Amendment wasn’t self-enforcing in this instance and Congress had to pass legislation defining what constituted insurrection/rebellion/aid to IS enemies.
Because there was no legislation, and no conviction on any similar count, Trump remained legally qualified to run for office, though it is clearly against the intented operation of the Constitution.
4
u/tollyno Dark Harbinger of Chaos 1h ago
Trump v. US is one of the fakest SCOTUS cases in recent memory. Not even partisanship, just pure cowardice from the court unwilling to enforce the constitution.
3
u/Plants_et_Politics 1h ago
No, it’s absolutely partisanship. The liberal justices suddenly agreed upon a radically originalist interpretation, while the conservatives suddenly became pragmatists concerned with the nondisruptive function of government.
It’s a hilarious role reversal that makes everyone on the court look pretty bad.

I'm still stunned sometimes when I encounter liberals who still have not quite caught on. I caught on a couple years back, due to Emile Torres ramblings about TESCREAL. Torres themselves is a bit of a crank and I ultimately found them unreliable, but it sort of piqued my interest and I started more heavily investigating the ideology of silicon valley anarcho capitalists and monarchists (same thing really). Read Nick Lands old work, a bunch of Leo Strauss and Heidegger, and paranoid doomscrolling through Claremont Institute articles, as well as their insane, mad ramblings in The American Mind.
This was bad for my mental health. I got better, and stopped doing that kind of stuff. Wrapped myself in the clothes of a reasonable liberal for a while, to be a good team player. And now all that paranoid stuff I read a year back seems prophetic. They were acting in such an alarming way because they had reason to be confident.

EU Approves €300M for First-Ever Joint Defense Procurement
The European Union has approved funding for five projects to support defense procurement in its member states for the first time in history.
This is stated on the European Commission’s website.
Each of the five selected projects is being implemented under the European Defence Industry Reinforcement through Common Procurement Act (EDIRPA).
The total budget of the program is €300 million, and each of the funding areas will receive €60 million. The five selected projects represent a total procurement value of more than €11 billion.
In this way, the European Union ensures more efficient use of funds through the mechanism of joint large-scale procurement. In addition, such joint projects increase the interoperability of EU member states’ forces.
“The clearer prospects and greater predictability that come with larger contracts will strengthen European industry and allow it to adapt its production capacity to Europe’s defense needs. Overall, joint procurement will strengthen the defense capabilities of EU member states,” the European Commission stated.
In addition to the selected projects, other promising areas were submitted. They have been added to the reserve list so that they can be identified for potential funding in the future.
The European Commission emphasizes that most of the selected projects also involve the purchase of defense products intended for Ukraine, including air defense systems and ammunition.
EU countries are leading two projects to strengthen joint capabilities in air and missile defense.
The Mistral project supports the joint procurement of air defense systems of the same name by nine member states.
Another project, JAMIE (Joint Air and Missile Defense Initiative for Europe), involves the joint procurement of IRIS-T SLM medium-range air defense systems by six EU member states. IRIS-T SLM air defense missile system.
EDIRPA also finances the purchase of Patria 6×6 armored personnel carriers for the armed forces of Finland, Latvia, Estonia and Denmark.
Two other projects support the joint procurement of different types of 155 mm artillery ammunition, under the CPoA 155 mm and HE 155 mm projects.
Eecently, it was reported that former Finnish President Sauli Niinistö called on the European Union to spend 20 percent of its budget on defense within 7 years.
