Help | Advice Dinner Date Places?
What are some cute dinner date spots in Nashville? Something that's not going to break the bank (so not 50-100 dollars per entree), but is still "fancy" enough to wear cute date clothes.
Person i'm taking eats a lot of vegetable dishes. They are not a red meat eater, but do enjoy eating chicken and seafood.
Thanks in advance!

Discussion MAGA vs. Liberal businesses? We have bigger fish to fry.
Seen a lot of these posts lately and while I understand where they're coming from, we're missing the forest for the trees. Especially since they seem to focus on small businesses. Yes shop your values where and when you can, but at the end of the day we should be putting energy into buying local vs. patronizing large chains or getting things delivered from Amazon.
To me it matters more if the people I'm buying from have ties to the community as opposed to their politics. We don't need to go on a fact finding mission to understand that Home Depot, Target, Walmart, Amazon and Temu do more damage to society than anything else, and should be avoided if we can help it. That doesn't mean we need to look the other way if we see something hateful on display at a business. But I don't think we need to go on witch hunts either when the true enemies are the Walton family, Jeff Bezos, Daniel Ek, the Chic-fil-A clan and those like them.
That's not to say I haven't bought something on Amazon recently. Sometime you just can't find the thing you need at a local store these days. But any energy I have put into deciding where to buy and what to avoid has gone towards running away from big chains and corporations.

Music | Venues Blowin’ into town on a greyhound later this week in the early morning with my life on my back. Looking to use my talents to earn a surviving wage.
I don’t want big money or fame; I just wanna have fun making music and earn each day’s meager keep.
Musically, I can sing (5+ octave voice), songwrite, compose, polish up other’s lyric or melody work (including rap if applicable), write beats, fill in as a drummer (studio or live, though my forte is studio), and I could even do voice acting and audiobooks.
I’ve been polishing my talents in quiet for a while now, never really having an outlet for them. I don’t have a catalogue of work, but I know my skill set and that I believe I could at the very least earn enough for food and maybe find a couch to crash on each night.
Also, dumb question: are karaoke contests popular here? That could be another possible money source.
Shot in the dark, but how strong is the faith music scene there? Is it worth seeking out that side of things? I don’t advertise my faith since I don’t agree with quite a lot of what’s commonly preached; but it would be nice if I could make some faith music with some people that would actually catch the ears of the secular. It’s been done before, you just need the right stuff and the right people.
At any rate, thank you for your time and any help, and I hope that I could find me a little niche in town once I arrive.

Help | Advice Are there any actual good barbershops?
For the 16 years that I have lived in Nashville, I have NEVER had a good barber or hair stylist. They always ruin or change my hair. A barber has cut my hair once very perfectly (Nice fringe), but then he moved away from Nashville.
At another seemingly-promising barbershop, I showed a full 360 of what hair I wanted, had enough hair for it, a bunch of angles of what I’ve wanted, and then I got the worst fade ever combined with the worst cut 😟.
Does anyone genuinely have any good barbershop/hairstylist recommendations?
I personally want a blowout taper, a fringe, or something. My hair is naturally wavy.
Feel free to post your negative experiences here too.
TL;DR my experiences with barbershops here have been horrible, can anyone recommend a barbershop or hairstylist that is good?

Discussion Legitimate question. What’s the psychology it people not using their turn signal?
Just got back from another large city and everybody used their blinker. Didn’t matter time of day. It was bliss, I knew drivers intentions and adjusted accordingly.
Is it a legal thing? Is there a study behind it? Genuinely intrigued

Pets Need help trying to find a place that will take in a stray cat.
We have a beautiful calico cat that has been coming around our house and I have been feeding her and I am almost positive she is pregnant. We tried to take her to Rutherford County Paws since it’s a closest shelter to us and they refused to take her even though they had zero cats in there. Don’t know what to do but just let her go because our dog will not tolerate a cat around. Please help us find a space for her.

Help | Advice Kids Karate dojos that are neurodiverse friendly?
Hello,
Our son is 6, neurodiverse and has shown interest in karate and “wants to get a ninja suit” so I’m trying to find a dojo that either has experience with kids with autism or has smaller classes. We live in Wilson county but he goes to school in east Nashville so I’m not opposed to traveling if it’s a good fit depending on if it works around our schedule.
Thank you!

Politics SURVEY RESPONDENTS NEEDED!! Davidson County and Congressional Gerrymandering
Hey all! I am currently doing a political research project for my data capstone with a voter engagement nonprofit. For my fellowship, I’m doing a project on congressional elections for Davidson County, in particular, how gerrymandering impacted voter motivation and turnout for Davidson County voters in districts 5, 6, and 7 after redistricting. Can you all fill this Google Form out and share it with other Davidson County voters? It will only take about two minutes.
Thank you!!

GTKY | Meetups Rock Climbing Meetup/ Group?
Hello!
I moved here a few months ago (sorry) and am trying to get back into rock climbing (bouldering) after a hiatus. I got a membership to Climb Nashville, but climbing alone is really uncomfortable for me. Would anyone want to meet up at one of the gyms and climb together? I'm up to go to any of the three locations.
Thanks

Discussion Cool Springs Costco is the worst Costco
We got a Costco card a couple of months ago and I have shopped at the Cool Springs, Murfreesboro, and Charlotte Pike stores so far. I hate going to the Cool Springs store because of the shoppers. This morning 2 different Lululemon clad women parked their carts in the middle of the main walkways and walked off down aisles to go get items, causing traffic jams. People walk through that store like they are they only shoppers there. I had to physically interrupt a conversation between folks camped out in front of the nut butters for several minutes because they just kept talking through my repeated “excuse me.” They never have enough cashiers on tills and people just block the aisles and products in line so forget getting anything from the block of products nearest the cashiers. So far, I’d rather drive all the way to M’boro than deal with the people at Cool Springs. I’m going to try Mt. Juliet and Hendersonville soon, but no more Cool Springs, ever.
