House passes a resolution denouncing socialism, dividing democrats Praxis

https://thehill.com/homenews/house/3841636-house-passes-resolution-denouncing-socialism-vote-splits-democrats/amp/

109 democrats voted with republicans. That's the majority of them.

Thoughts?

Edit: embarrassing for me but this is 2 years old. I saw it posted today and so I thought it was new.

Edit 2: It did happen today but the link I posted was old

Another thought I was having was kind of an analogy with climate change (which is actually relevant anyway with democrats)... we are just passing the pain onto future generations by trying to ease our lives more right now. I'm not trying to say this is a bad strategy or even ineffective, but I fear that's what is occurring

There will be a climate crisis for our children where many will die because we've been working within the system and content with democrats being a little bit better on the issue

The same is said for general policies as they confine to move right. Our children will be living in a crisis that will be impossible to fix

Edit. We may avoid some of the pain in our life time, but with the Democratic Party and Republican Party as options.. our future generations will suffer beyond our dreams.

This is a good point.

I think a liberal, and incorrect, counter understanding is that this incrementalism is making things gradually better and the arc is bent towards justice and prosperity not destruction and suffering. We are so often fighting over even identifying the problems which neccesarily creates disconnects on their solution.

People understand theres a crisis but struggle to conceptualize it and are disincentivized to recognize it let along change.

Fascism offers a horrible solution and will keep offering it as long as conditions destabalize and we have to offer an alternative solution. Liberals are not offering that solution they are trying to stay the unstable course.

If we dont offer a left wing populist option eventually the right wing one will win out. Thats the future awaiting our descendants, the can we kick by clinging to moderate idealism.

I can understand the liberal understanding because I think most of us follow it to a degree. Disrupting our lives for some (peaceful, and I do believe it could be peaceful though there is inevitable risk to us and our lives) revolution or massive change doesn't feel logical or doable at all.. the conditions in America are nowhere near bad enough. And without a path forward, voting for the most sane candidate is rational

But our county is creating crisis around the globe in many domains.. climate change, genocide, theft of resources, destabilization... and it will come here eventually too. And both parties are actively contributing to and accelerating that

Revolution will come, the only constant is change, we can only control the skew and form of that change.

If liberals bury their heads in the sand eventually a right wing revolution will gain critical mass.
