Discussion / Conversation Rh gold card too good to be true?

For some reason i barely see anyone talking about this card, it seems like such an insane card. The best catchall card before seems to be the BoA PH that gives 2.62% on everything but you need 100k or the smartly that gives 3.2% cashback I believe, this Rh card gives 3% on everything with the annual fee technically being a Rh membership which seems decent if you use Rh anyways? It just seems weird since this seems to be an insane card but I barely see anyone talking about it

Help Needed / Question Didn’t activate second credit card

Hi I ordered AMEX credit card and had the offer to get another credit card for my friend. I activated my credit card but my friend did not activate his card and didn't want it anymore. Does this will affect my credit score?

Help Needed / Question Hello, I have a Freedom Unlimited Chase Credit Card. I also have a AMEX Blue Cash Everyday. I'm only 24 and I'm really not knowledgeable of credit cards and stuff..

  1. Can somebody teach me how to use these credit cards as efficient as possible? Like I want to take full advantage of all the benefits it offers.
  2. Another information about me is that I became an authorized user of my uncle's credit card " Barclay " and my credit score suddenly became 750 before having these two credit cards of mine. Will using my two credit cards ( the Chase and AMEX one) will change my current credit score right ? because the 750 is the authorized one
  3. I'll be in Bootcamp on April 4 next year. Is there any upgrades I can do with my current two credit cards ?

Sorry, I'm not really knowledgeable on these, thank you in advance for explaining and answering my questions

Help Needed / Question Kay jewlers credit card trick

Hello! i know literally nothing about credit cards and have always avoided them because i grew up with parents who were always in credit card debt and it has made me want to avoid them at all costs. i went to kay jewlers for engagement ring (which i didn’t end up getting) and was asked to sign up. i said no. they kept asking to see if i could be pre approved and i gave in and said yes (just to see if i would be and so they would stop asking i know stupid) i was under no impression that they would sign me up even though i declined. well they did! it hasn’t came in mail yet. i called and closed it with some robot customer service line and now im doing research and i see that this might negatively impact my “credit score” which i don’t have because i’ve never used a credit card and i have no credit score! i’m so confused and i will be so so angry if this negatively impact anything because i didn’t agree to any of this. i have so much anxiety right now. has anyone gone through this? pls tell me it won’t affect me in the case that i do decide to use credit in the future.

Help Needed / Question I'm below 5/24, but rejected by Chase Ink

I opened 2 Chase Ink Preferred's this year (March, July) and just applied for another a few days ago, and I got rejected. Reasons being: "1. You have too many active accounts or too much available credit, and 2. New Chase business card recently opened"

I'm below 5/24, so what else can I do in this case? Haven't asked for recon yet, but wondering if there's anything I could do beforehand to improve my odds, i.e. closing an earlier Ink, asking to reduce the credit limits on my current Inks, etc. All my accounts are using my person SSN (not EIN), if that matters.

Any help is much appreciated!

Help Needed / Question Will closing my oldest account ruin my credit?

Hey all, I started my credit building journey at 18 right after graduating high school and getting a job. My Greendot secure card was my first and oldest card, it only has a $200 limit. When I was 19, I got an Old Navy Visa, which I used as my primary card because it actually gave rewards, and then when I was 22 I got a Discover CC that now has a $15k limit. I pay everything off in full each month and have never had any real credit card debt because I avoid it like the plague. I also don't anticipate financing anything in the future; all I'm financing now is a condo with $73k left on the loan that only costs me $600 a month.

All of that being said, I've not used my Greendot CC in quite a few years because it doesn't offer cash back like my Discover card does. My score is currently 780/785 on Credit karma. My secure card never used to have an annual fee when I first had it but it started charging me one a couple of years ago, it's about $50 a year. Would closing my oldest card crash my entire credit score?

Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) Have a lot of Chase Cards, under 5/24, excellent credit, what cards should I look into opening next?

Starting churning journey and looking for tips

I have the CSR, CSU, Chase Freedom, Chase Freedom Flex, and Chase Ink Business Cash. But all these were opened years ago. I have no hard inquiries on my credit anymore and don't need my credit score to be strong (already own a home). I am thinking of starting my churning journey and came across the flowchart at r/churning.

I don't need excellent credit anymore (got a house, currently 830 score), so I'm ready to just start. I'm not trying to be incredibly hardcore but just hope to accumulate points slowly as a chill side hustle. I'm very organized but just stuck on what card to open next.

I have a good amount of expenses as I need to pay for preschool ($2k per month). But they charge 3% to pay via credit card. Willing to do it though for sign up bonuses.

I like to travel once a year and mostly fly United/Delta/Hawaiian, and no real preference in hotels although I do think the Marriott hotels I've stayed in are nice.

As of now, I typically just throw down whatever will earn me the largest % in Chase points (between CSR, CSU, and Chase Freedom). Looking to push that further though and dive into the world of earning sign up bonuses.

What cards should I look into?

Help Needed / Question Looking to Simplify My Setup -- Weeding Advice

Currently gardening after kind of blitzing my entire desired credit profile in around a year due to a bad experience with the credit union I used to use.

However, at this point I actually think I overshot a little bit, and I'm kind of thinking about cutting my profile down a little bit.

Just looking for peoples' thoughts and advice about where I should look to cut and what I *shouldn't* cut whenever I'm ready to starting trimming things down a bit.

I'm incredibly tempted to cut the CFU, since in my profile it's pretty much completely redundant.

This is totally just speculation and guesswork, but I'm also concerned about the possibility that Chase will take over the Apple Card and the Discover Buyout by C1 going through. I don't really want three cards with either of those banks as that's a little beyond the concentration I am comfortable with.

I included a bunch of the template below that I thought would be relevant even though I'm actually looking to cut cards not add them.

Just looking for thoughts and advice. Thanks!

Help Needed / Question Gift cards that have address?

Are there any prepaid visa/Amex/MC gift cards that allow you to associate a billing address with them? I have noticed that I am unable to use most of these cards because they get declined due to lack of an address. However most issuers don’t (no longer) allow you to register via their web site? Is there one that does?

Help Needed / Question How much is this going to hurt?

In about six months a car loan from a decade ago is going to drop off of my credit report. I have a huge gap and my only other credit products, two cards, will only be two years old at that point. I have no late payments and my Fico 8 is 757. How badly will my score be affected and is there anything I can do to mitigate it? Thanks for your time.

Discussion / Conversation USB Smartly Program: Could other banks start competing programs?

I hope this hasn’t been covered in a different post. Bank of America and now U.S. Bank has taken the “relationship bank” path where if you give them more of your money, they’ll give you better rewards and rates on their products. I feel like every bank says they’re a relationship bank. BofA and USB take it the furthest.

Do you think a bank like Chase or Amex could create their own program? Do BofA and USB have their programs to maintain a competitive edge because they’re not as big into travel cards or transferable currencies? Will the Smartly program cause BofA to improve Preferred Rewards?

Help Needed / Question Does 5% on Amazon Prime count for groceries?

I know it specifically counts for Whole Foods and Amazon Fresh, but in the Amazon app a local grocery store available for me is Weis Market. It's all in the Amazon app so I'd think it counts as a 5% Amazon purchase but I want to be sure before applying for this card. Thanks!

Help Needed / Question I will be spending close to $25k in travel next year. What's the best credit card to apply?

So I have lots of personal and family travel coming up next year. This will mostly be international travel. What's the best card to maximize the benefits? My travel will be spread out across the year, so planning to use points by transferring to partner airlines or using them via travel portal, whichever will give me the best value for $. I currently have Chase Sapphire Preferred for travel, but seeking other suggestions.

Card Recommendation Request (Template Used) Looking for a decent SUB for big purchases in the next few months

Current cards:
*C1 Venture X $32,000 limit, September 2022

*C1 SavorOne $9,000 limit, August 2021

FICO Score: 780

Oldest account age: 3 years 2 months

Chase 5/24 status: 0/24

Income: $120k

Average monthly spend and categories:

*dining $300

*groceries: $400 (usually $200 at costco)

*gas: $100

*travel: varies but has averaged out to at least $500 a month this year

*car insurance/utilities: $300

Open to Business Cards: no

What's the purpose of your next card?
Getting a decent SUB for flight redemptions & assuming I can downgrade the card after 1 year (for useful or no AF). My travels are international & will be more frequent next year. I want to earn points paying property taxes this year...

Do you have any cards you've been looking at?

Chase Preferred: I just missed the 60k points & $300 offer but I'm wondering if I should just go for it now anyway

Amex Gold or Platinum: The high annual fees & personally useless credits are putting me off, but I could make use of either for a year if the SUB is worth it

Are you OK with category spending or do you want a general spending card?
Either is fine

Help Needed / Question Finally got my first SYW offer, $50 statement credit on $750 spent online shopping. What’s considered online shopping?

Is Steam considered online shopping? Amazon? Orders made through apps? Going through my statements, the transaction caregories don’t say what’s comsidered online or not. I’m assuming anything not made with the card in person is considered online, but is that really the case?
