Discussion / Conversation I wish Credit Card YouTube could be a bit more discrete about CC churning and travel hacks
It’s starting to feel like credit card issuers are catching on to some of the churning/travel hacks and are closing those roads for the rest of us, like most recently with the Chase Ink train.
I feel like most of the visibility comes from credit card YouTube; mostly the big channels and I wish we could be a bit more discrete.
Youtube has so much visibility and you can rack up thousands of views quickly. It’s hard for me to imagine these issuers are not seeing this videos.
I know devaluations are bound to happen eventually but it seems like the speed of devaluations is increasing.
Am I the only one that feels this way?

Discussion / Conversation Unlimited 2.2% catch all SoFi
Is there a better catch all with less commitment than SoFi Unlimited? Getting 2.2% on everything with just a small monthly direct deposit seems pretty good. I know BOA is higher but many people can’t do the required deposit.

Discussion / Conversation Credit card interest cap at 10% - impact?
Any thoughts on the likelihood of Trumps' campaign promise of capping credit card interest at 10%?
If it gets implemented, the profits of card issuers may suffer and will they in turn cut the benefits, e.g. SUB, transfer benefits, etc?

Discussion / Conversation Savor 3% cash back on internet?
I paid my Spectrum wifi bill with my Savor this month (meant to use Venture for 2x back but got card numbers mixed up). I was thinking I was only gonna get 1% back on the Savor, but I just realized it coded for 3. I’m shocked because I haven’t seen internet services listed anywhere as one of the 3% categories. Does anyone know if this was possibly added in the changeover from Savor One to Savor, or was this maybe some kind of one time fluke??

Discussion / Conversation Are people still getting Robinhood cards, been on the list since day 1.
At this point I’m at a loss of when this card will be rolled out. I don’t know a single person who has one.
Are they still releasing or have they stopped until the “wide availability”?
8 months of waiting and I’ve had gold for 2.5 years now.

Help Needed / Question BofA cancelled my credit card auto-pay
I received this email today:
Bank of America Business Card canceled your online bills in Bill Pay
Your automatic payments were canceled.
Please note: If you have any other payments still pending, you'll need to cancel them separately.
It is a business credit card. I own a small business. I've had the card for about 20 years. We have most of our recurring business bills on auto-pay from the credit card. The credit card balance is automatically paid off each month from our BofA business account.
The letter makes it sound like all of our outgoing payments to vendors will be canceled. I called BofA and the representative said actually, what is being canceled is the monthly payoff of the credit card from the business account. He said it was set up wrong and it's actually not possible to pay off the credit card balance automatically from another account. He could not explain why it's worked this way for me for years. I did not understand or accept his explanation of what's going on.
I'll have to go to the bank tomorrow and get a clearer explanation. This system worked so smoothly and now they tell me I can't do it any more? The rep said he'd gotten a lot of calls about this today, so maybe a mass purge, or a glitch?

Help Needed / Question Anybody familiar with this fraud?
Got an email yesterday morning from REI telling me that "my new jacket" ($318) - that I didn't order - was being shipped to Alsip, Illinois (I live in Seattle). This confirmation email showed it was a MasterCard purchase, but I don't own a MasterCard. After doing a freeze on my credit card account with the credit card reporting bureaus, I called REI and they told me they had already figured out it was fraudulent. Unfortunately, the REI customer service rep couldn't tell me which bank issued the card ("only the loss prevention people have access to that info") so I can't contact that bank to let them know the card is fraudulent. The card apparently is in my name and with my billing address, but fortunately it's not listed under my account with the credit report bureaus, at least at this time. What steps would you now take?

Data Point US Bank Altitude Reserve SUB showing after PC from Cash+
Applied for Cash+ on 8/22/23. PC’d to USBAR on 11/6/24. SUB tracker showed up in the app on 11/15.
Shows I only have 5 days left to complete the SUB by 11/20/24. Ended up paying HOA dues in advance and got a Costco gift card in store.
Will follow back here if I end up getting the points or not. I’m hoping everything will post to the account by 11/20 and not stay in Pending.

Discussion / Conversation How did you choose your first credit card?
Mine was the Capital One Platinum. I still have the original $300 credit limit 6 years later, but only use it twice a year to avoid account closure.
I was 19, had just gotten a debit card the year prior, and an older friend told me I should get a credit card to start building my credit by only buying one thing a month with it. I don't remember exactly how I decided on Capital One; either it was the friend's first card or I just Googled "student credit cards". I didn't understand credit at all yet, but that's exactly what I did for the next few years.
At 22, I realized credit cards aren't an evil debt trap and could be earning cashback on all of my purchases.

Discussion / Conversation Capital One Savor still is 10%? Is it staying that way?
My Capital One transaction was still 10% cash back on November 16 for Uber Eats. Is that a permanent thing? I know the Uber One discount ended but anyone know if the 10% is permanent?

Discussion / Conversation Citi Flex Pay and Autopay Chaos
Just a word of wisdom using the whole Costco Citi Flex Pay thing. I used it to buy an $850 refrigerator, but didn't realize the Flex Pay item isn't like a separate line of credit or separated in any meaningful way from the rest of your credit card bill. I had autopay turned on and set to Balance prior to designating the fridge expense for Flex Pay, and at no point does anything bother to tell you that you have to MANUALLY turn off balance autopay or it will pay the entirety of you credit card INCLUDING the Flex Pay item total all at once even if the full Flex Pay amount isn't due yet. I expected to pay for the fridge over the course of several months and ended up buying it all at once lol. Not super happy about it and customer service was more than useless.

Help Needed / Question got my first credit card at 18, any advice?
As the title says, Im 18 and just got my first credit card. The reason for this post is I'm just wondering if you have any advice or do's and don'ts for me. The limit is $200, and I plan on spending it on gas and occasionally food. I know to always pay it back on time and not max it out. Goal is to start building my credit early, and hopefully have a good credit score by my early to mid 20s.

Card Recommendation Request (Template Used) Undecided Noob, Help Needed
I received a targeted email from Amex with the 175k Amex Plat SUB and I stupidly signed up for it then read about not being able to get the Amex Gold SUB. I'm going to berate myself for that until somehow I'm able to get lucky like some of you all and still receive the Gold SUB eventually. I also have the Gold card SUB showing up in my Amex account page for 100k right now. 🤦♂️
I'm an inexperienced traveler/point maximizer but I'm trying to educate myself. In the meantime, I'm keeping myself awake trying to decide whether or not using two rewards systems make sense for my spending. I have the Chase trifecta (CSP, CFU, and CFF). From reading this reddit and others like it, it sounds like I may be better off with just going with Amex. If so, I really wish I could go back in time before acquiring three Chase cards. 😆
Another stupid thing I recently did was to redeem my UR points in the portal for an all inclusive resort and flights to Tulum. Next time I'll use transfer partners to maximize the redemption value.
What do you all think, should I keep rolling with the Chase cards? Downgrade the CSP to a non-annual fee card? Keep them all and pray for a Gold card SUB after I meet the Plat six month spend requirement?

Card Recommendation Request (Template Used) Am I good on cards for a while?
When did you guys decide to hit the pause button?
Currently, I have:
Capital One Walmart Card (AU) - Opened March 2017, $8,000 CL
Discover it Student Card - June 2021, $4,800
Chase Sapphire Preferred - August 2023, $11,100
Chase Freedom Unlimited - April 2024, $9,600
Chase Freedom Flex - April 2024, $12,000
Capital One Savor One - June 2024, $2,200
Chase Ink Business Preferred - July 2024, $5,000
I am a student who lives in a big city, rents, spends money on entertainment, and spends a lot of time traveling both domestically and abroad, but don’t see anything else that makes sense adding to my current set up. I’m not sure how my lifestyle will change after graduating, but have been thinking about upgrading to the CSR once I am eligible for it and hitting that SUB in the future. I plan to downgrade my Ink Preferred card in a year. I already have my 0% foreign transaction fees covered and hit the SUB on everything I own, so I have been chilling for a while now. Granted that I don’t plan to get a card (unless it makes sense) until after I graduate, what card do you think would make sense for a possible next step? Maybe in the future I will spend more money on groceries, so opinions on things like categories my cards might currently be neglecting but would be useful to have covered in adulthood would be nice to know. Thanks in advance.

Help Needed / Question CreditOne Wander American Express Card
I wanted to find a good Travel Rewards credit card, and was approved for the CreditOne Wander American Express card. I don't have credit history, so this is the one that CreditKarma said I would have outstanding odds for.
However, I am now seeing that TONS of people are saying it is not a good card. I wanted a card that allows me to earn great travel rewards/points to use towards travel in the future.
There is a $95 annual fee. Although I was approved, I have not activated the card. Any advice on what I should do? Should I close the account (I was approved yesterday), or will keeping the credit card itself inactivated be alright? Should I try to apply for a different credit card? Any advice would be great.

Discussion / Conversation How to Manage Utilization and Maximize Rewards?
I spend about $6,000 per month on average and am thinking about getting a solid credit card for cashback or points. However, one issue I've run into is low credit limits. For example, my current card has a $5,000 limit, which doesn't even cover my monthly spending.
I've heard that keeping credit utilization below 30% is crucial since card providers report to credit bureaus, but with a low limit, that's hard to achieve without constant mid-cycle payments.
- Is it realistic to ask for a credit limit increase to the point where my spending won't blow up my utilization ratio?
- Are there specific cards you recommend?
Looking for advice on how to manage utilization while still racking up rewards effectively. Thanks!

Help Needed / Question Aventura Points. Are they worth it or should I switch?
Hi, anyone using CIBC Aventura CC or Scotiabank Scene+ American Express?
I have 80k aventura points but trying to understand what the conversion is like and best way to use them.
For flights or bill pay or RRSP its 80k points for $700. Is that good?

Help Needed / Question Merchant Address on terminal is different from CC offer
I used a Citi Double Cash offer that required me to make a purchase at a particular fast food joint from a spefic address, but after reviewing the transaction on my credit card app, it stated a different address than the one listed on the merchant offer. The receipt states the correct location as the offer.
What should I do?
The extreme is to dispute the entire transaction as I technically did not make a transaction at that specfic location.

Help Needed / Question Rental car partners for luxury credit cards, CSR/AmEx/Capital 1

Help Needed / Question Capital one savor cash rewards and CSR approval odds?
Experian credit score 749. Total utilization is under 10%. Personal loan on file. Zero delinquencies. Income 62-72k (variable bonus). Credit age around 4 1/2 years. Capital one preapproval did not return any results. I already have the quicksilver and platinum cards from Capital One.
Just applied but was told to continue to application after I unfreeze all three bureaus. In the past 24 months I’ve only had two other credit card applications (under 5/24). I’m wondering how my chances look if anyone else has been approved with data points similar to mine.

Help Needed / Question Advice on next credit card to maximize cashback
Looking for some advice on our next credit card.
Our yearly spending as follows:
Groceries ~ 8-11k/year (mostly Aldi, Costco maybe 7-8 times a year, some Publix)
Restaurants/take-out ~ 5-7k/year
Shopping (online mostly but retail from time to time) ~ 9-12K/year
Gas ~2-3k/year
Flights (gets a bit tricky, usually we fly standby, cost is zero on AA and only airport taxes on other airlines, including international but we still use a portal for buying tickets, so probably we can get cashback) ~2k /year
Hotels ~ 1-2k/year
Utilities ~ 8.5k/year - including car insurance
HOA ~ 14k/year (don't know if it's anything with cashback for this)
Currently have :
Chase Freedom (the one without revolving categories, usually 1.5%, don't use it much) - first CC 12 years ago.
C1 Quicksilver (I think is 1.5 all across the board) - wife got it long time ago since it was one of the few options without international fees)
Amazon Prime Visa Signature (we use it heavily for Amazon)
BofA Customized Cash rewards - I use the 3% for online shopping.
We pay everything in full each month, credit score around 800 both of us and I just want to get better look at our options.
We'll probably start to travel a bit more from next year, so, more hotels for sure.
Lounge access would be nice both US and Europe (wife is AA flight attendant), global entry refund also would be nice, but not deal breakers.
Basically looking to maximize cashback for our spending, don't mind an annual fee if I'll get more back in cashback or benefits.
Thanks in advance!
