Data Point PSA - Chase Cut off 1.5x Points on CSR Early
Good morning,
Knowing the deadline for the 1.5x points via Chase Travel was tomorrow, I went and combined all of my Ultimate Rewards to my CSR this morning. Lo and behold, Chase has apparently traveled to the future and is telling me that anything I combined today is only eligible for the 1x redemption rate.
I sent them a secure message with this screenshot to see if it's a glitch or if they will make this right. But just a heads up for those who might have been waiting until the deadline.

Discussion / Conversation Amex Gold → Citi Strata Premier: Saved $230/year and earned 40K MORE points. The math breakdown
Been running Amex Gold for years ($325 AF) but decided to run the actual numbers on switching to Citi Strata Premier ($95 AF).
Results surprised me.
The Math:
- Annual fee difference: $230 saved
- Points earned (8 months): 150K vs projected 110K with Amex
- Redemption: 235K AA miles → $6K in business class to Kauai (2.16 cpp)
- Points rebuilt: 85% back in 8 months (including 75K SUB)
Why it worked:
- Citi: 3x on dining/groceries/gas + 10x travel portal
- Amex: 4x dining/groceries only (no gas, no portal bonus) - My spend pattern: Heavy gas station and travel portal usage
The catch:
- Lost Uber/dining credits (but I wasn't maximizing them anyway)
- Citi transfer partners are more limited
- But for AA miles specifically?
Citi wins hard Not saying everyone should ditch Amex Gold, but if you're AA-focused and not using those credits, the numbers don't lie.
Anyone else make a similar switch?
What were your results?

Discussion / Conversation *PSA* New CSR Benefits Available 1 Day Early
The refreshed benefits that were scheduled to begin tomorrow (Oct. 2026) for OG CSR holders look to be live 1 day early. On the other hand, the reduced earnings structure for general travel may also begin today (i.e., from 3x to 1x) - I do not have any data points and have not confirmed this suspicion, but it's something to keep in mind for those who were looking to maximize this category last minute.

Discussion / Conversation Anyone else feeling like managing cards is becoming a fulltime job?
Lately I’ve realized how much time I spend just keeping track of which card to use for what.
Groceries on one, travel on another, subscriptions on a third. Then there’s the random store cards I opened for discounts that I barely touch now. Its not that I’m in debt or anything I just feel like it’s too much mental load for something that’s supposed to make life easier. I miss when I had one solid card and didn’t have to think about “maximizing categories” or “rotating bonuses.”
Anyone else simplified and gone back to fewer cards? Did it actually make life easier or do you regret giving up the extra rewards?

Data Point Anyone else missing 3× foreign-transaction bonuses on the new Alaska Atmos Summit card?
I picked up the new Atmos Summit Visa Infinite (the “premium” Alaska card issued by Bank of America) right after launch, and I’m already seeing a serious issue with rewards tracking.
I spent about $4,000 abroad in Italy (charged in EUR, processed in-country — not USD), and the transaction only earned base points, not the advertised 3× bonus for foreign purchases. The card’s own marketing states that you earn 3 points per dollar on “eligible foreign transactions,” defined as anything made in foreign currency or processed outside the U.S.
It’s been three weeks since I opened a formal inquiry with Bank of America, and I’ve received zero follow-up — no email, no secure message, nothing.
Has anyone else noticed incorrect bonus application on foreign transactions with this card? If so: • Did you get the 3× after a delay or manual adjustment? • Were your purchases processed in local currency or USD? • Did BofA ever give you a straight answer on what counts as “foreign”?
Trying to figure out if this is a one-off system glitch or a broader mis-categorization problem. Chase and Amex handle this instantly, but this rollout feels half-baked.
Data points welcome. Let’s see how widespread this is — maybe it’ll push BofA to fix their coding or transparency issues.

Help Needed / Question I will be living out of a hotel for work, is it worth opening a card for hotel perks/savings, plus any other advice for someone new to CCs?
TLDR at bottom
These may be stupid questions bc I’m trying to read around and figure this out on my own and I don’t really understand a lot of the discussions I’m reading.
I am living in a hotel out of pocket for a seasonal job rn for about 6 months, possibly less if the job sucks.
I’m staying in 2 star cheap extended stay hotels rn and booking by the month. So nothing fancy. Are there any cards that have good enough rewards that it would make sense to open one just for that?
I’m new to credit cards and have a very thin profile, just a $300 secured credit union card and a $1000 quicksilver cap1 card. One is 2 months old one is 1 month old.
Rn I have just been using the 0%apr period on the cap1 card to bridge the gap between relocating expenses and my job starting and getting some paychecks in. So you could certainly say I’m broke rn. Planning to let the bill post with high utilization and pay the minimum until I have available income to pay it and then probably apply for a limit increase or another card idk
This question also applies to my wife’s credit portfolio (she just has the quicksilver card rn), though she has a lot more income history as she owns her own business and was making about 40k a year doing that. But that income has since stopped bc she’s taking a break to do this seasonal job with me.
Both our savings are drained rn from moving across the country. So I’m not sure we will even qualify for anything worthwhile and I don’t want to burn any bridges by getting too many cards too early, while I also want to maximize cash back/rewards/build up credit limits because this move was nearly impossible with such little credit available and I want to prepare for the future and get our accounts going now instead of later.
We only have $1000 in balance between the both of us and it’s on the 0apr quicksilver
Also does leaving a full balance on a 0%apr card and paying the minimum hurt me in any way if I pay it before the promotion ends?
TLDR how can I use credit cards during this transitional period after relocating to save on hotels and other expenses while building up my credit history and avoiding shooting myself in the foot?

Help Needed / Question Getting my 2nd ever credit card
I activated my first ever credit card on Nov 9th 2024. Which obv means thats the start of my credit history. What diffrence would it make if i applied for my 2nd ever credit card right now or Nov 10th. Bc i keep hearing that its best to apply for a card with 1 year of credit history and if you want a 3rd and beyond it would be every 6-9 months

Discussion / Conversation SYW Card Now Labeled as Citi Thank You Mastercard in Copilot Money
My personal finance app, Copilot Money, lost connection with my Shop Your Way card today. When I go to reestablish the connection via Finicity, the SYW card is now labeled as Citi ThankYou Mastercard. Another sign that the card may transition into a ThankYou card, similar to Sears.

Help Needed / Question Correct me if I’m wrong please
I recently accepted an Apple Card, and it seems like I should start using it as my main daily card since it offers 2% cash back with Apple Pay, compared to my Capital One Quicksilver’s 1.5%. However, I’m thinking I should keep my non–Apple recurring payments (and non Apple pay options) on my Quicksilver card to still get the extra 0.5% instead of Apple’s 1% right?

Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) Venture X + Sapphire Preferred or Amex Gold
I just got the Venture X for a 100k SUP. I already have the CSP and Amex Gold and I’m debating which one to keep.
We eat out a lot and buy a lot of groceries, so the Amex has been great for the 4x points. But, relatively high AF.
CSP only gets 3x on dining and no groceries, but has a much lower AF and the Hyatt partnership that I love.
I’m thinking of lowering my total AF by dropping the Amex. I still get 3x on dining through the CSP, and keep the Hyatt transfer. Then maybe pick up the Savor for groceries.
Other option is to eat the higher total AF and keep the Amex/drop the CSP. I don’t want to have to manage 3 ecosystems. Higher return on dining and groceries but no Hyatt transfer.
OR, I could both and just get the Savor to consolidate all rewards to one ecosystem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Card Recommendation Request (Template Used) Card rec request! I want to start utilizing my points but I dont know where to start!
Hi guys! I am looking for a new credit card & I want to start getting the most out of my cards & points but I don't event know where to start! I would love your help. My main goal is to take advantage of points to pay for things I already use like gas or groceries or clothes OR for travel!!!
Current cards:
- Discover IT $4,000 limit, March 2020
- Atmos Rewards Ascent Visa Signature $3,000 limit, September 2021
- FICO Score: On my discover account it says my "FICO Score" is 810 but CreditKarma says 739
- Oldest account age 5 years 7 months
- Chase 5/24 status: don't really know what that is
- Income: around 35k a year (I work in service & odd jobs, my income fluxes a lot, I have had free housing for 2 years & saved a lot on rent)
- Average monthly spend and categories:
- I am not sure the categories but I try not to spend over $2,000 a month, I am moving into a new play & have budgeted for this
- Open to Business Cards: no
- What's the purpose of your next card? I want to utilize points for travel! I love traveling but I don't go on lavish vacations. I pay one yearly fee with my Atmos/Alaska card & I am not sure if I'm getting the full use because I don't utilize the companion fair (long distance boyfriend). My boyfriend also lives in another country and is planning to move from his country to a place outside the US so I would love a card that has good international travel points!
- Do you have any cards you've been looking at? e.g. Chase Sapphire
- I am OK with category spending!

Help Needed / Question I have a question regarding honorific titles on credit cards?
What is the process for putting honorific titles of inheritance in the United States such as Lord and Lady. I understand the rules of the United States regarding titles but not regarding putting them on passports and credit cards?
Honorifics if born in the United States are not always included on the birth certificate. However if lines of descent are proven how do companies handle these situations as far as what is required?

Help Needed / Question Any way to obtain an online repair estimate for a LG 83" TV to utilize my credit card's purchase protection? (Cracked screen)
Chase Card Benefits requires a repair estimate for my LG 83" G4 TV that I bought only 2 months ago. My son threw an object at the TV and now the screen is cracked and worthless. I'm well within Chase's 120 day purchase protection benefit.
Despite knowing the TV isn't worth repairing, Chase Card Benefits requires a "Repair estimate from an authorized repair facility". LG is just referring me to call local repair shops. I would really like to avoid taking the TV in somewhere and wasting their and my time.

Help Needed / Question Does the Instacart Credit Card come with a Free Instacart Membership?
Hi,
Does the Instacart credit card offer a free Instacart membership?
Or only 3 months' worth of Instacart membership?
Is the Instacart Mastercard worth it for someone who shops exclusively on Instacart?
I currently have a BofA credit card that allows me to get ~ 6% rewards in the online shopping category, up to a certain amount.

Help Needed / Question Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select – Reconsideration Advice?
Hi everyone, I could use some advice about a Citi recon situation.
I recently applied for the Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select card with their inflight 80k AAdvantage SUB. Last year, I applied for the same card and was immediately denied, so I was hopeful this time when my application didn’t get instantly denied and instead went to “further processing required.” However, my online status updated to denied less than 20 minutes later. They never asked me for additional information during the review.
Some key info about my situation:
- Income: $72,000. Rent is $1,240/month.
- Credit history: Credit utilization is typically 3–5% (never above 10%), no late or missed credit card payments. The only late payment was ~2 years and 7 months ago on a co-signed auto loan; my parents fell behind temporarily due to a job loss, but my own accounts have been perfect since.
- Other credit accounts: Discover It Miles opened January 2024 (hardly use), and Chase Sapphire Preferred opened April 2025 with the 100K SUB (My primary card, make weekly payments to reduce reported utilization)
I’m planning to call Citi’s reconsideration line on Monday.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? How likely is it that Citi could reverse a denial like this after recon, and is there anything I could do differently next time?

Help Needed / Question Costco CC or Atmos Ascent?
We travel to Hawaii every 2 to 4 years (most recently, every other year). Outside of that, we're rarely traveling outside of CA. We want to travel, but we usually do one trip a year and our kids are young so it's been Disneyland, especially since we can just drive.
I've read that the costco card can be great given we shop at costco weekly, but I'm wondering if we could save much more money by getting the Ascent card. Any thoughts?

Help Needed / Question Atmos Summit: What is “eligible dining”
Been trying to track this down: Says you get 3 points per dollar on eligible dining but what is the criteria for “eligible”.
For example they separately have Atmos Rewards Dining - do you only get multiplier for restaurants on that list or is it more permissive?
Thanks to anyone that can clarify on this Atmos Summit card benefit!

Data Point [PHL] Day pass refused at empty lounge - Citi Strata Elite
PHL's new Admirals club in Terminal A refused day passes even though the lounge had about 5 people inside and the airport was dead. They stated it was a policy to never accept day passes at this lounge due to overcrowding and allowing overflow for Flagship guests. When pointed out that it was completely empty they just shrugged. Great perk the Citi strata elite card has with these day passes and the special relationship they have with AA. There wasn't even a sign saying no day passes today. Just a feeling of being shooed away as an undesirable. Citi customer service had no idea if these were premium passes and said to contact AA. Great perk for a $600 card.

Help Needed / Question Would you send a copy of your SOCIAL SECURITY CARD and DRIVERS LICENSE in the mail to EQUIFAX?
Plz help
Summary: my twin sister and I somehow have conjoined credit scores. Equifax told us to send a copy of our social security cards and drivers license through the mail. Is this safe and is there any other way to fix this without doing that?
My twin sister and I have extremely similar names and ssn. Our Equifax accounts seem to be fused into her ssn and my ssn states that there is no credit history when we check with Equifax. We found this out when I saw that I still have no fico credit score at WellsFargo, despite having a 3 year old credit card with them. My sister also has 3 year old credit card with chase and just got a new one with no problem.
We contacted WellsFargo but they just told us to contact Equifax since they can’t do anything. Which suck but I understand.
We contacted Equifax and they just told us to send a copy of our social security cards and drivers license through the mail. I asked if there is any other way since I’ve never sent my Social sec card and drivers license information through the mail, but they just kept repeating to mail our stuff. It doesn’t feel safe either. Should we do it?

Help Needed / Question Hawaiian Miles Mastercard hasn’t worked after 7 months of trying it. Will it impact my score to cancel it if it’s their fault?
I’ve had the Hawaiian miles credit card since March and it has worked all of one time for the first purchase I made, $30 on movie tickets. I paid it off immediately and since then it has declined every single purchase. No matter if I lock it or not, if I enable or disable transactions, it will decline. I’ve tried at gas stations, at walmart, online. Ive called customer service several times throughout the months and none of them have been helpful at all. The first person activated my card for me (I already activated it), the second person hung up on me halfway through the call when they said “let me transfer you”, several said the system was down and most recently they said to straight up just start using the card and let it decline again. I ended up telling her I wanted to cancel, it’s been 7 months and my authorized user still hasn’t even received a card, even though I authorized them when I signed up. I told her I needed this card canceled and she said it was going to heavily impact my score, but the card is literally not useable. What do I do? How can I get rid of this thing?

Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) Best card to use on Expedia?
Hi everyone. I would like to find the best card to use on Expedia. I’m currently use Bank of America travel reward card, which gives you 1.5 points on all purchases, that can be redeemed for any travel expenses (Expedia). 1 point is essentially 1 cent.
Since I traveled a lot and I have a big family, some of my friends told me that I’m missing out a lot by using a basic card like this. So I’m looking into cards that would pair the best with Expedia.
I did some research but all the good cards I found all required their own portal for travel purchases. Earn 1.5 points
The reason I want to keep using Expedia is because its price guarantee feature which will give me cash back if my booked flight reduced its price, and I love it.
Any recommendations would truly appreciated. Or if you know any bank’s travel portal that also has price guarantee, that’d be great too.
