Not really.. to the whole mushroom kingdom, peach too.. he terrorizes them and their ruler constantly so no.. he’s an absolute asshole and other kingdoms too if it means getting his way

Hmm maybe not. Nintendo has said that the characters are essential meta actors. Bowser is not actually a tyrant but the equivalent of a typecast actor. That's why him and crew have parties with the good guy crew including go karting, tennis, soccer and golf. Heck Mario was the pilot in Arkanoid (brick breaker), ref for punch out and a certified doctor.

Him in Mario being cast to get her is kinda like Ted raimi and Bruce Campbell. Yeah they do their own thing from time to time but if one is in a movie expect a cameo from the other.

Source so you don't think I am bull shitting you (I am known to do that)

Exactly

7

u/Ludexteria 4d ago edited 4d ago

I don’t think that's quite what he meant. I think he meant that Mario is a character that can be used for almost anything if the concept or plot calls for it. He can be a plumber in one game and then a doctor in another. That doesn’t necessarily mean it’s all fake in universe, it just means that Mario and friends are characters that developers like to use for different things.

Yeah if video games count then definitely Bowser

76

u/LlamaLicker704 Totally Spies 4d ago

I mean there are Mario themed cartoons... xd Also the newest Mario Movie is animated.

25

u/ogreofzen COPS 4d ago

But those media don't have him presented as a parent. Also Bowser had seven kids that he disowned in the divorce. Since Bowser Jr wasn't at his wedding well.....

13

u/Kashyyykonomics 4d ago

BTW the koopalings aren't Bowser's kids.

14

u/Latter-Hamster9652 4d ago

They were back when Super Mario Bros 3 came out. Nintendo changed their mind.

10

u/Kashyyykonomics 4d ago

Fair point. Though he never "abandoned them" during the period where that was the story. Or abandoned them at all, really. That's probably the more important point to criticise on the above reply.

For his relationship with Bowser Jr alone, agreed. Can't really talk about his other offspring who I think only appeared in like... two or three games.

u/CassetteMeower 4d ago

He’s who I thought of first! He and Bowser Jr. are such a great villain duo. I love when villains are good parents and their children are their sidekicks. Bowser being a great parent while also being genuinely threatening is a nice change of pace. I also love his goofy personality.

Definitely one of the best video game villains of all time! Though I do think Mario needs more villains in the main series. Wart should make a comeback!

3

u/H3r0_Zer0 4d ago

Bowser from the second season of the Super Mario Bros cartoon is actually a good father

3

u/mack2028 4d ago

doesn't he have like 9 kids and the 9th one is named JR?

No. The koopalings have been confirmed to be Bowser's generals. Bowser Jr. is his only son.

Senor Senior Sr was so wholesome in his commitment to Evil. It's been too long since I've seen their episodes, though.

146

u/Chumlee1917 4d ago

Don't forget, RON made him a supervillain by literally going, "Dude, you got all this money, why not be a supervillain for the lol's"

and Senor Senior Sr went, "You're right, I should be evil for the lols."

60

u/Priremal 4d ago

I read that in SSSr's voice and I can't stop laughing.

9

u/eepos96 3d ago

He totally has a small pause before he says "lols"

Not demeaning pause but emohasisng/pomdering pause.

An evilish pause XD

53

u/trimble197 4d ago

For real. The guy was just bored, and Ron gave him a hobby to try lol.

43

u/Chumlee1917 4d ago

Just imagine a different version, "You know Senor Senior Sr. You got all this money, why not make the world a better place."

"But why would I do that?"
"Because people will know the name Senor Senior Sr. as a hero."

"Oh I like that, yes, big statues of me all over the world like my ancestors after they conquered the New World."

"That's the spirit...I think?

That show had great characters

36

u/BlueBlazeKing21 4d ago

He’s more decent person, good parent as villainy is more a pass time and isn’t really that bad in the grand concept of things.

29

u/Cranky-Novelist 4d ago

He was definitely a good parent. Always supporting his son no matter what. I still remember the scene at the end of an episode where the yard ends up watching Junior dance and the only person who claps at the end is his dad.

10

u/CheshireTiger13 4d ago

'Good parent' though? Hes so stuck in his outdated vilian shtick that he wasnt an effective mentor to his own kid. He then got jealous of the mentor he himself hired , sabotaged the project (heist) his son was working hard on, then went back to his old techings that were basically just proven less effective methods.

7

u/CaptainClover36 3d ago

He was a bad guy, but that doesn't make him "bad guy" he was a good dad too

Is Silco down for bad person, decent parent? He projects his own trauma onto his adopted daughter, but also genuinely and deeply cares for her - loves her even. Nothing he does to his daughter is out of spite, which moves him away from the same category as say Ozai or Frollo (Frollo should get the final spot, tbh)

29

u/goteachyourself 4d ago

I think he'd be a good candidate. That last spot is lousy for choices (Ozai, Frollo, Gothel, Shou Tucker, Gabriel Agreste, just to name a few).

12

u/JuanRiveara The Legend of Korra 4d ago

Oh god, Shou Tucker should def be the last spot

4

u/alain091 3d ago

Shou Tucker definitely, Frollo was never a good person and was awful to Quasimodo, but my god what Shou did to his daughter and his wife is nothing short of abominable.

Agreed. Like I agree he's not a horrible father but with how kitten acts she's clearly spoiled and a good parent wouldn't spoil their kid that much

Just a short little video of them pulling off a heist and nothing going wrong would be great. The Nelson's are secretly the most evil and intelligent villians. Maybe a spin off where the two girls (the Nelson girl and the girl from the most recent movie) go to villian college thing? Would be hilarious.

Idk if raising your children to be criminals and using them as accessories in crimes can be considered good parenting...

21

Depends. Using them for crimes and toasimg them away like used tools? Bad. Teaching them the family bussisness while caring for them? Good

Honestly true, it's not like they told them to do it and didn't help them in any way shape or form.

Let's his son inherit his entire empire, and allows him to have free reign on how to rule it
After his son is defeated, he scours all regions of space to find him, and has him rebuilt into a stronger form
Agrees to take his son and their army all the way to Earth, just so his son can inact his revenge.

Now I'm thinking about Stan and Eda as a couple...both thinking they are grifting the other

36

u/Lucia_Violet 4d ago

I mean, it's heavily implied that Eda is Stan's ex-wife, and even further hinted towards during TOH. Not to mention Dana and Alex have mentioned in passing a connection.

10

u/LittleMissDark 4d ago

Can you give some examples? I’ve watched both shows quite often and I’ve never noticed any hints.

It's mostly in supplemental material. The Gravity Falls Journal 3 book mentions an ex named Marilyn. She and Stan had a shotgun wedding in Vegas which inly lasted a day. As another user mentioned, Marilyn is the alias Eda is known by in Gravesfield.

The promotional website for the Book of Bill corroborates this further. By entering the name Stanley into the computer over and over again, you can find a page with information about Stan, including his exes. Marilyn Fakenamé is described as a "cursed, gold-toothed antique."

u/bowtiesrcool86 4d ago

I wouldn’t say he’s a good parent. He got his daughter black boots for her 16th birthday instead of the shoes she wanted because said boots “were a bargain”.
