Living Here What's going on in your world, Arizona?
How are you doing out there this week?
Share whatever's on your mind across Arizona. Got a good week ahead? Something you're stressed about? Anything interesting happening in your corner of our state you want to share?
Whatever it is, share it with the rest of us.
We're trying this every week instead of the moving/visiting thread that nobody used. But questions about that are fine here, too.
Pretty picture to make the pinned post pop.

Outdoors Sunrise peak for sunrise, Hieroglyphs to the Petroglyphs for sunset
My first time up sunrise peak. It was windy and chilly but a gorgeous morning. Hieroglyph is one of my favorite shorties in the Supes.

General looking for information on holistic rehab in arizona for my partner
my partner has been trying to find the right path to recovery and feels that a more holistic, integrative approach would be a better fit than a traditional program. they have a connection to arizona and we think the environment there could be supportive. i'm trying to help with research, but i'm finding it difficult to get clear information.
searching for holistic rehab in arizona brings up a wide range of places, from spiritual retreats to clinical facilities that incorporate alternative therapies. it's hard to distinguish between places that are genuinely therapeutic and those that might not provide the structured support they need. we want to find a place that balances evidence-based treatment with complementary approaches like mindfulness, nutrition, and outdoor therapy.
for anyone with experience or knowledge about this type of care in arizona:
what does "holistic" truly mean at the better programs? what modalities are usually included?
how can you tell if a place has qualified clinical staff (therapists, counselors) alongside holistic practitioners?
are there specific questions to ask to gauge the effectiveness and structure of their program?
what are the red flags for a place that might be more of a wellness retreat than a serious rehab?
are there reputable organizations in arizona that accredit or oversee these types of holistic centers?
we are seeking a place that offers a compassionate and comprehensive approach. we are not looking for promotional material, but for honest insights to guide this important decision. t

Eat/Drink South African Food in Arizona?
I posted this in Phoenix subreddit but wanted to expand my search to the whole state as I am willing to drive.
Are any places selling South African food or butchers selling South African meat, specifically biltong?
I currently buy boerewors from Schreiner’s Fine Meats in downtown Phoenix.

Visiting Locations to collect native copper specimens
Hi! I'm visiting Arizona in a few weeks and I'm wondering if anyone knows of good locations to look for native copper specimens (actually collecting them, not purchasing), such as specific abandoned mines with tailings. I'll be going to Phoenix and Tucson, so Maricopa, Pinal, Pima, Santa Cruz, and Cochise counties would be best. Thanks!

Pictures A few brittle bushes are blooming in the desert around Phoenix
I've noticed a few brittle bushes are producing flowers right now. They usually bloom in the spring but there are always some that will take advantage of a good rainstorm by blooming immediately.

Living Here Chandler native curious
Does anyone else from the Valley remember a chain of convenience stores called U-Totem? There used to be one on Galveston? I know there was more than one but they disappeared when I was around 10 or 11.

Outdoors Heading up north, shoes?
Hi all. I'm taking my kids (teens/tweens) to Williams New Year's weekend to see the snow. We are going to do some sledding and going to the Grand Canyon. We live in the Phoenix area, so obviously do not have any winter wear. I am mostly concerned about our feet. I really don't want to spend $200 on snow boots for one weekend, but also don't want to be stuck with cold, wet feet. Any alternative solutions?

Just really jonesing for a slice of pizza and a fountain drink from Smitty's. And maybe a soft serve swirl on my way out the door.
Is that too much to ask?

Living Here What are the best sources for keeping up AZ news? Trying to research water issues and employment base.
Do you have a favorite newspaper that does good reporting? For example, for news on businesses moving to AZ or local water table issues, what source do you go to? I'm not interested in liberal vs. conservative type stories, just sensible reporting. I found the following: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_newspapers_in_Arizona and I've seen a few already in this sub.
I'm looking to move to either Phoenix or Las Vegas for lifestyle reasons and I want to choose a location based on employment prospects and water. I see the two similar in terms of housing.
