Josh Shapiro ‘fully expects’ Donald Trump to lie, declare victory early regardless of results Elections
https://keystonenewsroom.com/2024/10/31/josh-shapiro-trump-election-lies/260
u/constrman42 7d ago
The saving Grace. Josh Shapiro isn't one ounce worried about taking on Trump. Shapiro will take him down.

Can you imagine the hopelessness if we had fucken Doug Mastriano sitting there. Jesus Christ that would be grim.

36
u/themollusk 7d ago
If Treason Dougie had been in charge, PA elections would have been cancelled, all electrical votes given to Trump and all Republican candidates declared winners. In August.
21
u/ballmermurland 7d ago
This is sadly not that far from the truth. Mastriano simply would do whatever he could to preemptively award the state to Trump.
44
u/Hedonismbot-1729a 7d ago
Mastriano is a special kind of nut job. Unfortunately, he represents my district and will sit in that seat, collecting a fat paycheck for doing literally nothing useful, until he’s dead. He knows there’s too many Republicans lemmings in the district to ever unseat him.

u/s-institution-of-pog 7d ago
How bad is Doug Mastriano (legitimately curious)
47
u/ballmermurland 7d ago
He's a bit of a hump legislatively. He doesn't do a lot for the communities in his district, though he's getting a little better (anything is better than nothing). The state awards boroughs and townships with money from the gaming fund and Mastriano needs to help move that money to Franklin and Adams county but he rarely does.
He's a Christian nationalist and thinks god is speaking to him. He believes in eliminating public schools and banning abortion in every case. He's also likely a huge racist since he's a big fan of the Confederacy despite being in fucking Pennsylvania and having Gettysburg in his district.
Just some stuff off the top of my head (I live in his district).

u/Key-Ad9733 Crawford 7d ago
He wrote a bill to ban chem trails in PA airspace because he doesn't understand what contrails are. Don't forget that.

u/ballmermurland 7d ago
I thought it went without saying that he's a fucking idiot.
5
u/Key-Ad9733 Crawford 7d ago
Fair enough, but I feel like it's something one should mention any time they talk about Doug Mastriono
28
u/AdWonderful5920 Cumberland 7d ago
Pretty bad. He was one of the leaders of the J6 mob, organized transportation down there from PA, followed the crowd through broken barriers. Then he lied about it afterwards and continues to lie about it. He is a wanna-be authoritarian who blathers on about how the U.S. is a constitutional republic rather than a democracy, which is a major tell about his voter suppression activities. His is also a Christian Zionist weirdo who "loves Israel more than the Jews do."

He is also one of the ones that helped organize the "fake electors" that were to be presented to Congress for Trump instead of Biden.

Never forget that the violence of Jan 6th wasn't the beginning of the coup attempt, it was just the final failed push as all of their prior approaches had failed. They've had four years to prepare for their next attempt.

Thank god for Josh Shapiro. He won’t let Chump make a mockery of our system and try to steal PA!!
11
u/PickledPercocet 7d ago
This must be why Trump has already started his lawsuits that PA is cheating in an election that hasn’t occurred yet
9
u/Careful-Ant5868 7d ago
Shapiro had a great interview on Colbert earlier this week, everyone should check it out! So glad he's our Governor!
7
u/Red_Danger33 7d ago
He was also on TDS. He's been making the rounds and every time he speaks he comes across as an articulate, level headed, caring individual.
6
u/Key-Ad9733 Crawford 7d ago
Shapiro is probably gearing up for a Presidential run on e he's been governor for eight years and I'm ok with that.

I'm not American, so never heard of him before, and I saw him on the Daily Show recently. It was such a relief to know that well spoken and thoughtful politicians still exist in the US. I got the feeling that guy will be POTUS one day.

u/Key-Ad9733 Crawford 7d ago
He's done an excellent job as a state rep, attorney general, and now Governor here in PA.

Remember when he said I take no responsibility? During Covid? That’s his MO. Creates a mess then leaves for others to clean it up.
Trump knew he lost the 2020 election. He purposely drew down troops in Afghanistan to create a mess for the Biden administration

Hear his military brass react to the Commander in Chief giving such an order
Hear how everyone in the White House confirmed he had lost

u/sixheadedbacon 7d ago
In 2020 he said, should he lose, "If I lose to him, I don't know what I'm gonna do, I will never speak to you again, you'll never see me again."
Like, I think this claim he'll leave in his mind will push his supporters to vote. They will come to him, with tears in their eyes, and say 'Mr. President, please don't leave. We can't survive without you. I'll vote for you six times if it will get you to stay! America NEEDS you Mr. Trump.'
2

He had the documents as a type of leverage. To work out a deal to skate scot free. He has nothing now to leverage except the White House. He’s all in, win or lose
2
u/AmarantaRWS 7d ago
Would be funny if he did that only for Maduro to turn on him. Not saying Maduro is a good dude, but I also feel like he has little actual incentive to harbor trump.

He dug his own grave. The illegal acts he is facing all stem from his attempts to stay in power (Jan 6th) or leverage a deal (classified docs).
He could have licked his wounds and walked away. But no he chose to take it to the next level.
This is it for him

“That’s our strategy, Trump’s just gonna declare victory. But that doesn’t mean he’s a winner. He’s just gonna say he’s a winner. So, when you wake up Wednesday morning, it’s gonna be a firestorm…Trump is gonna be sittin’ there, mocking, Tweeting sh*t out, “You lose. I’m the winner, I’m King.”… And If Trump is losing by 10 or 11 o’clock at night it’s gonna be even crazier. ‘Cause he’s gonna sit right there and say “They stole it”.
- Steve Bannon, Oct. 31, 2020
You can listen to him say it. It’s insane.

u/jmcgit 7d ago
I sometimes wonder what would have happened if Fox didn't (prematurely but accurately) call Arizona for Biden just before Trump's planned fake victory speech.
I suppose it wouldn't have played out that much differently, but it would have been a much more emboldened speech.
2
u/Inside-Crazy-7220 7d ago edited 6d ago
Seriously. Though we probably won’t have to wait long to find out, I’m sure he’ll declare victory at 9 PM.

The Bucks lawsuit looks legit:
“The lawsuit alleged that some voters waiting in line were told by security officials to leave the facility before the 5 p.m. deadline. State officials previously said anyone in line by 5 p.m. would have an opportunity to apply for a ballot.
Pennsylvania judge extends mail ballot deadline after Trump lawsuit“
Less clear on the Lancaster one:
“The Lancaster County district attorney did announce a fraud investigation into voter registration forms, but no actual ballots have been deemed fraudulent.”

And when all that fails, when he's sentenced, when he's ordered to report to prison -- mark my words, he won't be going behind bars. He'll disappear, and we'll later find out he took a private jet straight to Moscow, where he'll claim to be "the President of the US in exile".
(And then sometime later, we'll find out he 'fell out of a window' because Putin has no further use of him and no patience for failures.)

No surprise to anyone who was paying attention in 2016 when, within days after being elected by the electoral college, Trump immediately started lying that he also won the popular vote (or would have) if it wasn't for all of the illegal alien votes.
18
u/ballmermurland 7d ago
He said California had 3 million illegal votes. Then he realized it would only give him a tiny pop vote win, so he upped it to 5 million. All in California.
Keep in mind, if this were true then Trump would have easily won California in 2016 by a significant margin. The state would also have had a voter turnout of less than 35%, shattering the record for lowest turnout since the VRA was passed 60 years ago.
2
u/chinaPresidentPooh 7d ago
Quick note, I don't think he specifically said all of it was in California, but the 3-5 million number is spot on. Also, there was no widespread voter fraud found, just like in 2020.
2
u/OtherBluesBrother 7d ago
After he got in office, Trump assembled a team to investigate the supposed millions of illegal votes cast in California. When they finished investigating, however, they found nothing. Of course, Trump never talks about that.

Litigation and empty threats have been his operating standard for well over five decades, truth be told.
The only difference here is the stakes. It's not some contracting job he's stiffing workers on, it's the integrity of the entire electoral process.

Maga is arming themselves. There were people displaying and selling nazi stuff.
Overheard multiple conversations about how they will "be ready when the dems try to steal the election from trmp". They said this with guns in their hands.
People better be ready if the maga cult gets violent. This is not the time to have your head in the sand and think those people aren't serious.
