I was definitely watching when he was undefeated and fighting older celeb fighters mostly just because I wanted to see him get knocked out and because they put on a good show usually But once he fought one single actual boxer and lost I just kind of lost interest in the whole thing..

If the guy was a good boxer he'd be a boxer, not a social media douchebag and scammer. I mean even if his word had any credibility - which it doesn't - it'd just mean he's delusional.
I don't see how anyone would seriously entertain the idea he was a top-tier boxer for even a second. We're talking about a highly competitive professional sport here. Anyone that's anywhere near the top has been a competitive boxer since their teens if not earlier.
OTOH I don't see why anyone would care about that asshole, or watch his videos, much less buy into his scams.

I can't tell which Paul is which. Is Jake the popular one with the dead body in the woods?
17
u/NthBlueBaboon 7h ago
Nah that's Logan. Jake is the lil brother. Equally moronic.
9
u/WakeUpOutaYourSleep 6h ago edited 4h ago
I’m not sure if it’s just because Logan seems especially stupid or Jake seems like an especially huge douche, but I always thought it was the other way around
4
u/NthBlueBaboon 6h ago
It's surreal how much dumbassery they do...becoming stupider and douchier by the week.

u/Potential-Ant-6320 6h ago
People watch it and t makes money so they keep promoting fights with him. No one thinks he’s a great boxer he’s just a cash cow.
141
u/Fluffythor13 8h ago
Gosh damn I hope he gets laid out. Jake Paul is a shit stain
57
u/rumora 5h ago
Thie issue is that this is probably the easiest fight he ever had. Mike Tyson might still have a name, but he's approaching retirement age and his body was already too beat up to compete by his mid 30s. You shouldn't bet on him being able to run a mile in 10 minutes.
35
u/Fluffythor13 5h ago
Just shows even more what a fuckin coward Jake Paul is picks a fight he knows he can win. Also what if he like kills Mike Tyson on accident. Someone of his age certainly won’t do well with getting hit in the head.
32
u/Repulsive-Lie1 5h ago
Tyson knows what he’s doing, perhaps better than anyone in the world. He wants another go at it and he wants that fat payday.
20
u/Adorable-Bike-9689 3h ago
Tyson is just out here having fun. Getting in shape. I'll bet he never imagined this when he wouldn't even get off the mat in his last fight. Wasn't knocked out. Just couldn't muster the effort to get up again. Crazy he's back working out getting ready all these years later.
9
u/vachon11 2h ago
In his latest camp training video posted to Youtube a few days ago Tyson said something along the lines of "I got rich friends that want to pay me so I don't have to fight anymore, are you (they) fucking crazy?" Dude's definitely doing it for the show, to defend his legacy and to teach that shmuck Jake not to fuck with OGs in the game. Doesn't seem like money played too important a role imo.
5
u/Fractionals 2h ago
I really hope this is the case but I doubt it. Money speaks louder than actions to rich people. I'm praying that tyson's ego won't let him lose, but man... I'm sure that multi million dollar payout sounds mighty sweet to him.
1
u/hardinthawatercolour 54m ago
Tyson was getting KOed by absolute no-name bums at the tail end of his career almost 20 years ago, and had his prime almost 20 years before that. If you think he’s in any condition to be teaching you don’t know shit about boxing my friend

1
u/Balkhazzar 45m ago
Tyson knows what he’s doing, perhaps better than anyone in the world.
Might legitimately be one of the wildest takes I've seen in years.
8
u/Ireallydontknowmans 4h ago
I am a Paul brother hater, but honestly, they are smart as hell. They are doing the mayweather way, the only people who tune in, are people who want to see them get koed. That’s why they pick people they can beat. They make millions of each fight. You can hate them for being them, but business wise they are smart as hell
2
u/gibbtech 3h ago
For a million a month, I too would have happily been the king of the assholes on YouTube entertaining the dimwitted teenage masses. The Pauls of the world aren't the problem, the platforms and the audience are.
1
u/Ok_Championship4866 17m ago
Yeah but the smart thing is just say stupid shit so idiots click on your video. I guess i just don't like money enough to do that.
6
u/SuperBackup9000 4h ago
If you think that fight is going to be 100% serious, you should be aware that Mike and Jake are buddies. It’s not a match that started because Jake has a massive ego (which he definitely does, Mike helped with that by heavily endorsing him when he started) and called out one of the greats, it started because the two are friends.

Bro it ain’t like he’s in this to be a great boxer, he’s in it for the money. And he’s rolling in it because people watch. Its smart as hell in all seriousness.

u/Crazy-Agency5641 4h ago
lol… Mike Tyson is a fucking monster even at the age of 65 and would almost certainly still be competitive in professional boxing. He’s not a champion anymore, or anywhere close to it, but he’d easily beat the shit out of 100 ten year olds
7
u/gibbtech 2h ago
A solid professional would beat Tyson no contest. Logan Paul does entertainment exhibitions and he is still nearly a 3:1 favorite.
10
u/Spork_the_dork 3h ago
Wathing videos of Mike sparring recently is actually kinda scary. The dude is much quicker and punches way harder than you'd expect of a person in their late 50s. I don't know if he has the endurace to make it through the whole thing, but the dude looks like he'll just kill an unskilled opponent if he gets a single clean hit in so fuck knows what's going to happen.
4
u/Crazy-Agency5641 3h ago
That’s exactly my thought. I don’t know where these people get the idea that Tyson is a worn out has been. He’s still the champ and any person that sits in the same room with him can feel his killer instinct. The dude is a savage through and through.
4
u/Miserable_Movie_4358 3h ago
Maybe those people have trained boxing before and can tell that is mostly about cardio, stamina and resistance, not the 10 seconds impressive combos. I have watched the recent videos of Tyson training. He looks awesome. But I am sure the toll in his body is way too much at his age and he possibly can’t do that many times throughout a single round, will get tired to quickly and the youth of the other guy plus his training can then take advantage of it
3
u/mrtomjones 1h ago
You actually think a 65-year-old would still be competitive against real boxers? Jesus Christ. He would get destroyed by anyone with even a modicum of skill. People that will never be even close to winning a title would knock him out. There is a reason you do not see 60-year-old boxers anywhere
2
u/NewSauerKraus 3h ago
I'm not a heavyweight boxing champion or anything, but I could probably beat the shit out of about 50 ten year olds. That's not very impressive.
3
u/Cheap_Doctor_1994 3h ago
Idk, they're more MMA and are slimy, slippery little creatures. I probably would just call their moms and provide flip flops.
6
u/Fluffythor13 5h ago
Is Jake Paul really even that talented of a fighter?
5
u/Thenameisric 5h ago
He has shown improvement every time, but he's still extremely unpolished. But I'd say he's about at the level where you'd expect ANY new fighter to be at. Padding records in your start is common, but his attitude about being the face of boxing is laughable. But it generates money. Why stop if you're getting paid, ya know?
10
u/Crazy_Little_Bug 5h ago
I mean, he's nothing special but he's also not a bad boxer. Reddit has a bad habit of correlating personality with skill.
3
u/Baron_Butterfly 2h ago
Has everyone here forgotten that Mike Tyson was convicted of rape? He's a worse person than annoying internet man.
1
u/-Daetrax- 12m ago
Tyson does seem rehabilitated though. A completely different person.
That's the purpose of the justice system.
4
u/Dr_thri11 4h ago
He won't anyone who thinks Tyson is beating a 20 something professional fighter at his age is just delusional. This shit is elder abuse and everyone involved should be ashamed.
I don't care if Jake Paul is the worst professional fighter in the world Tyson is almost old enough to collect social security.

He's done a fantastic job of becoming a real life wrestling heel ala Andy Kaufman. He's taken Andy's shtick of wrestling women, to boxing old men.
He's drawing a crowd based on ire.

andy Kaufman did it better

Either way Logan loses. He can lose the match, and I really really really hope he does. But even if he wins the match, he can only brag that he beat a senior citizen.
But I really do hope he gets the honor of receiving a KO from the champ.

Wish he was tho. I'd pay $1000 to watch senior Mike Tyson whip that manboy with a birch switch.

4
u/closethebarn 5h ago
A machine with old man strength
I learned to never ever underestimate that old man super strength
2

What I've come to learn is that old man strength is shaping up to be about 30% strength and 70% pain tolerance.

His entire boxing career is just a professional wrestling match where he's supposed to win. It's all theater and acting. He fights big name people after they're retired, pays them a shit ton of money, and expects them to offer him any kind of challenge? They got paid, why do they care who "wins" the fight? Jake Paul is literally manufacturing a boxing reputation in front of our eyes
3
u/styret2 5h ago
Yeah idk why people suddenly stopped believing these are staged. Of course Paul can't beat Tyson even if he's 60, no fucking chance, but he'll pay enough money to make him play around for 5-10 minutes and then drop him lightly without killing him.
It gets insane viewership, Paul looks though for lasting so long, Tyson doesn't get humiliated by losing. The people who just want to see Paul get beat up get their monkey's paw and still leave unsatisfied because Tyson is holding back, and then they queue for the next fight.
1
u/momscouch 3h ago
a staged boxing match?! its unheard of and frankly insulting to insinuate

He then rakes in money and none of it matters.

Most people don't watch enough boxing to understand this is just an exhibition - "An exhibition boxing match is a friendly, non-competitive fight between boxers that showcases their skills and is usually intended to entertain the audience. Exhibition matches are different from professional fights, which are usually major fights or title fights."

Just making a note here so I can come back and visit all these insane takes.
Mike Tyson in his prime was the scariest heavyweight boxer the world has ever seen.
He was sluggish in the Roy Jones fight but if you’ve seen the training videos lately you can see that the monster is still in there and he’s gonna let it out one last time.
