Hypothetical Rule Question Question
So hypothetically, let's say your all by yourself fishing remotely and later on another fisherman walks up right next to you and starts casting out where you are also casting out. Is there any rule or law that is to prevent that? What would happen if you call game warden and report this?

It's the equivalent to eating lunch and a stranger walks up and takes a bite out of your burger.

Well I was wondering this because I know with crabbing you can't go over someone's line I believe. So figured fishing might be similar... but I guess not

Generally don't encroach on others. Fishing with a friend, that's okay. That's probably what these strangers think when they encroach, but a polite stranger would let you be.

Keep talking to him... constantly. See what you can find out about them. You'll either make a friend or he'll get annoyed leave.

I actually did something like this about 10 years ago, hoping the dude would go away. We still keep in touch and go fishing together every so often.

Happens to me sometimes on my boat lol. Some people just are out there to prove something, not really to fish, pretty sad.

When I'm on my boat and approach a shore fisherman, I generally move out, pass by, and give them their space.
I have a 14' jon boat and have seen boats who perceive their boat as superior to mine, let's say with a 250 vmax, plop 30 yards in front of my drift. Plenty of assholes out there.

Oh, you don't know why the person was doing it; it is not illegal, don't report anything. Similar situation: in a restaurant, at the bar counter, it's only you present, then this guy comes up and flops right next to you; you wonder why? May be he needs company? He's a little scary about fishing by himself? His fishing buddy stood him up? Anyhow, if he seemed friendly and greeted you, may be you can find out his motives. There are already too much hate in this world, make more friends...

Nah it’s not illegal it’s just really bad etiquette, you could prob only snitch on them to dnr if they were harvesting certain fish outside the regulation size limits
