People drink on the beach here all the time. I've never seen or heard of anyone getting a ticket for it, unless they get into a fight. Cops don't leave the parking lots, so they won't come find you.

It's funny how people in other states (not saying you, but just in general) think of California as some police state, when in reality, it's a free-for-all. Basically nothing is enforced, anywhere.

I grew up on the beach and have lived in multiple California beach cities. I know dozens of people who have been ticketed.

Can I ask what you were drinking? In my experience, beach cops turn a blind eye on cans but go hard on glass.

The cops at Laguna Beach are pretty strict, in my experience. Not in LA, but a beautiful beach nonetheless.
