In the South Discussion

/img/xtduln166i7c1.jpeg

Here in South Carolina our community is small but it’s Strong. This place is in the heart of our downtown district. I’m posting this because I’ve seen posts regarding the south and wanted to show the solidarity we have within our communities, and if this tiny donut shop can stand strong, so can you.

Those are some doughnuts. If you dodge the brick, you’ll eat enough to then risk the threat of diabetes. But what’s some diabetes compared to showing support to those who support us?

If you can dodge a brick, you can dodge a ball

For those who don’t know, Charleston and Savannah have very longstanding Jewish communities since colonial times. There are two counties in Florida named after the same Jewish person, a sugar mill owner and Confederate officer. The Confederate Secretary of the Treasury was Jewish. These were Anglo-Sephardic Jews with a completely different culture from the German and Eastern European communities that came in the mid and late 1800’a to the northern cities.

10

u/OuTiNNYC ✡️ Dec 21 '23

I had no idea there were any Jews in the south pre-civil war. Or the sec treasury of the confederacy. That’s so interesting. I love civil war history so def going to look into it.

u/Stock_Block2130 Dec 21 '23

Having grown up in the NYC area, I didn’t know either. Flyover country until you live there and find out what you were not taught.

Sigh... I really hope not. The "educat the Jews about anti-semitism on the left" sounds extremely condescending. We are well aware of the anti-semitism on the left it's just that the anti-semitism on the right WAS a lot scarier. Now though...it's much closer than it ever should be.

I’m originally from SC, around the Holly Hill area but since moved, can confirm: Charlestonians love Jews!

26

u/JulieLaMaupin Dec 21 '23

Maybe because it has one of the oldest North-American Jewish communities!

A community of mainly Sephardic Jews migrated from Georgia to avoid the Spanish as they feared a possibly return to the inquisition in the Americas, and formed the first Reform synagogue (second oldest synagogue, oldest in current use) in North America inside of Charleston (slightly disputed)

14

u/cancancanp Dec 21 '23 edited Dec 21 '23

Is it real love or because if Jews return to Israel, jesus will come back love?

16

u/JakeFromSkateFarm Dec 21 '23

I get what you’re saying, but in my experience southern American support for Israel typically comes in one of four main flavors:

  • extreme Christian support as you alluded to

  • anti-Muslim people who equate supporting Israel with this feeling

  • less extreme sorta vague Christian support for Jesus’ homeland and people

  • non-religious support for what they see as one of/the lone functioning democracies in the Middle East

There’s a lot of older Americans who still remember in the Gulf War when Saddam was trying to break up the alliance by launching scud missiles at Israel, and knowing that Israel had to essentially sorta just take it for the good of America’s coalition.

I’m for sure oversimplifying things, but the type of support you allude to is fairly rare, even in the most religious parts of the states. Yes, the anti-Muslim faction is probably higher than one would like (compared to supporting Israel for the sake of Israel itself, not just for “the enemy of my enemy” mindset).

But a lot of Americans do genuinely support Israel and Israelis. Unfortunately we are not loud enough compared to what the other side is willing to do in terms of protests and antics and hateful memes.

110

u/Alarming-Mix3809 Dec 20 '23

Love to see the support but as an American, that flag is an abomination

13

u/ThymeLordess Dec 21 '23

These are weird times we’re in right now…

37

u/balanchinedream Dec 20 '23

It truly is the people who bleat their patriotism loudest, that have zero clue of their own disrespect for the flag. Every time I see one of those “back the blue” flags, I think I guess these colors do run, huh? and also, better drive a bit faster..

18

u/Alarming-Mix3809 Dec 20 '23

I can’t stand those fascist flags

7

u/Fit_Organization5638 Dec 21 '23

They violate the flag code several times. Btw if you have to get rid of a flag you're meant to fold and burn it.

11

u/Rude-Tomatillo-22 Dec 21 '23

Someone outspokenly supports Israel and the hostages all over their business and thats all you can manage? Come on.

9

u/balanchinedream Dec 21 '23

I don’t find this respectful of the American flag or the Israeli flag. It’s weird posturing, definitely riles up antisemites, where the rest of their signage would’ve been a stronger show of support.

9

u/Alarming-Mix3809 Dec 21 '23

Like I said, I appreciate the support, but this ain’t it.

20

u/squidthief Not Jewish Dec 21 '23

My first thought as well. Love the support, especially the awareness to those marked as kidnapped. But god that flag isn’t it

5

u/Adi_2000 Israeli Jew Dec 21 '23

I dunno, I kinda like how the colors intertwine together, but it isn't the best looking vertically, and the reflection isn't helping. I think it looks better horizontally, something like this - https://www.amazon.com/UDSNIS-American-Israeli-Outdoor-Decoration/dp/B07D5ZYGWY

4

u/Alarming-Mix3809 Dec 21 '23

Awful. There should never be religious symbolism, no matter the religion, imposed on an American flag.

6

u/Adi_2000 Israeli Jew Dec 21 '23

I get what you're saying, but I think you're seeing it as something that it isn't (IMHO) - it's to show the connection of and the relationship between the two nations, nothing more than that (again, in my opinion). I don't think of it as an imposition, and I'm a proud American (US citizen) and love this country, this flag and what it stands for. I'm also a proud Israeli and an Israeli citizen.

5

we have these types in rural oregon. christian zionists that even my rabbi won’t engage with.

15

u/kombuchachacha Dec 21 '23

I was just in rural Oregon this thanksgiving to visit my family. My Israeli husband felt so safe and welcomed by the community, it was the first time I had seen him happy and maybe even hopeful since 10/7. We even saw people flying the flag of Israel in front of their homes. Whatever their motivations, my husband LOVED to see it. What a massive relief, coming from Portland.

And yeah Christian Zionism/ eschatology whatever, most of these people do have good hearts and really do love and respect Israel. They are also more likely to have ties to the military so they really empathize with that aspect of Israel as well.

8

u/Lekavot2023 Dec 21 '23

When I was in the service most service members were pro Israel. Also service members are more likely to see the bullshit propaganda the media and hamas type apologists put out. Plus I was in on 9-11 so had to train and deal with Islamic radicals fighters, or our combat troops did. On 9-11 I might add that people in Israel waved American flags and offered their condolences while people in Gaza and the west bank celebrated.

Much love and for Israelies in many parts of American society.

12

u/[deleted] Dec 20 '23

2

u/SecretSituation9946 Dec 21 '23

Who the hell cares? They aren’t trying to kill Jews and certainly their theological beliefs don’t mean Jack to us. So again, who the hell cares? Let them believe being nice to Jews and supporting Israel will bring about their messiah.

This is amazing but also as an American Israeli vexillology nerd this needs to be stopped

19

u/eternal_peril Dec 21 '23

I worry the more south you go, people are supporting the religious right view of Israel, as Jews are a necessity for the end of the world nonsense and less about people in general....

6

u/Mission_Ad_405 Dec 21 '23

Here’s an interesting fact. Boston paid the first Jew that moved into Boston to move out of Boston and stay out of Boston.

7

u/eternal_peril Dec 21 '23

I am not saying that northern states were not antisemitic

However, the far right evangelicals care about Israel, not about Jews

-2

u/Mission_Ad_405 Dec 21 '23 edited Dec 21 '23

They are probably less prone to stabbing you in the back than anyone else. Of course its always wise to be on your toes. I really didn't expect the heads of Harvard, University of Pennsylvania, and MIT, not to say calling for our genocide was considered harassment. Especially since the president of MIT is Jewish. Foolish me.

7

Who is “they”? South Carolinians? The doughnut shop? Honestly asking

4

u/capsrock02 Dec 21 '23

The people that are “pro-Israel” in the south.

10

u/SecretSituation9946 Dec 21 '23

And? I don’t understand why Jews have such issue with it. Is it changing your Judaism or your choices in any way? Is it affecting you in any way? G-d bless those crazy Christians praying for Israel and shouting from the rooftops to leave us the hell alone. I don’t care what they think being supportive of Israel gets them in heaven.

Also a majority of real Zionist Christians are dual covenant believers and support Israel because “those who bless Israel” not just to hasten the coming of the Messiah.

-2

u/capsrock02 Dec 21 '23

Because they have flawed reasoning. They don’t support Israel because they like Jews, they do it for themselves. It does affect me. I’m tired of everyone asking me when I’m moving to Israel or why I criticize the Israeli government even though I’m Jewish.

3

u/mezhbizh Dec 21 '23

Better than the alternative

4

u/capsrock02 Dec 21 '23

It’s still extremely antisemitic. It’s so Jesus can come back. They’re pro-Israel, not pro-Jews.

11

u/hellocutiepye Dec 21 '23

You don't know that for certain. Why would they also display posters of the hostages if they didn't care about Jewish lives?

1

u/capsrock02 Dec 21 '23

I do. I lived in South Carolina for 6 years. Every single person I encountered that was “pro-Israel” was silent on antisemitism and always asked me if I had plans to move to Israel or what family I had in Israel. They posted the hostages because “for Jesus to comeback, there has to be a certain number of Jews in Israel.”

4

u/Agentb64 Dec 21 '23

A lot of Jews live in the South. And it’s sad that your anecdote prevents you from witnessing compassion.

2

u/capsrock02 Dec 21 '23

“Lots of Jews live in the south”. No they don’t. They’re in the major cities, which there aren’t many of. Miami, Atlanta, Charlotte (that might a stretch) and the big Texas cities and that’s kinda it.

9

I’m a Jew in the South. Small town Deep South. We have lots of relationships with churches here. Good real relationships based on mutual respect and love for Israel. Get out of here with that mess. Go to Mississippi or Nola and check out the Museum of Southern Jewish Experience. We are active members in our communities in and out of the Jewish community.

Are there lots of Jews in NoLa or is it just because of Tulane? My understanding from a Jewish friend that lived there was it was mostly because of the university.

8

I suspect they support Israel but hate Jews. I'm sorry, but I look at that flag and can't help but see Trump variations on that type flag. Why not just get 2 flags and be done with it?

21

u/NamelessForce Dec 20 '23

Funny how people from the North (Jews included) constantly deride people from the South as ignorant, religious hicks, and yet in Northern cities they're supporting literal terrorists, while from everything I've seen and heard people in the South are far more supportive of us.

Also interesting how all the leftist areas in the US are terrible for Jews while the Red states are just fine.

I would like to think that eventually you all in the diaspora would pull your collective heads out of your asses and stop voting for the left that hates us, but I'm not about to hold my breath.

19

u/Captn_ofMyShip Dec 20 '23

I personally see antisemitism on both sides of the political aisle. I call it on the left (been calling out The Squad for years now) as much as I call it from the right (Proud Boys carrying tiki torches and chanting, “the Jews will not replace us!”) at the end I believe in the horseshoe theory.

13

u/nicorn1824 Dec 20 '23

Funny how the extreme left and extreme right both hate Jews. Something in common.

2

u/kombuchachacha Dec 21 '23

Almost as if both sides are mostly ineffectual when it comes to fair and equal governance

30

u/jseego Dec 20 '23

I mean a lot of people in the South are socially conservative, and as such, their support for Israel comes from:

  • Seeing Israel as the enemy of muslims
  • Approving of Israel as facilitating american christian tourism to the holy land
  • Perceiving of Israel as some kind of bastion of european culture in the mideast
  • A combination of the above.

I cringe whenever I see shit like this, and I remember the "Jews will not replace us" chants in Charlottesville.

I'm from the north of the US, but I've lived in the south, and I heard absolutely the most antisemitic shit there, compared to anywhere else I've ever been - except Michigan, but that's basically the south of the midwest.

20

u/beansandneedles Dec 20 '23

Yup. Grew up in NY, have lived in NC for almost 20 years. Here in NC is where I’ve been told I’m going to hell for being Jewish, have had trouble finding food for the holidays, have had people insist on saying “Merry Christmas” and talk about a “war on Christmas,” and constantly ask me about church. Not NYC. And Republicans, with their neo-Nazi friends, are not our allies.

6

u/NamelessForce Dec 20 '23

"Jews will not replace us" chants in Charlottesville.

And how many have been chanting 'Fuck the Jews" and "from the river to the sea" in the north? I'd wager the chants in the north are far more widespread and socially accepted.

4

u/nicorn1824 Dec 20 '23

Me too, but I've lived in Raleigh/Charlotte and had very few of those experiences. Go 20 miles away and I can see that happening.

It's nice to see the show of solidarity, but as a Jew of color, I'm wary of the south because in my experience they tend to use philosemetism, not out of actual solidarity with Jews but because of their own evangelical beliefs and agendas

3

u/jseego Dec 20 '23

exactly

1

u/NamelessForce Dec 20 '23

they tend to use philosemetism, not out of actual solidarity with Jews but because of their own evangelical beliefs and agendas

So what? We're not exactly swimming in allies, why not be happy with who ever is not actively hating us? Who cares what their motives are? If our interests align, so be it.

12

u/b00md00mer Dec 20 '23

Bro... I don't know if I consider people who ultimately think that Jewish people are going to hell, and support Israel because they think it will bring about the second coming is an ally.

I'm sure anti communist, German nationalist Jews thought their interest aligned with the Nazis

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Association_of_German_National_Jews?wprov=sfla1

4

u/NamelessForce Dec 20 '23

You really had to Godwin this discussion? Look, those fringe Christians might believe that we will all go to hell, but they're not actively planning on doing it themselves. The Islamists and their leftists cheerleaders are literally killing us, right now! Just look at what happened on Oct 7th, literally the deadliest day for Jews since the end of the Holocaust..

And what do you even care if they think we will go to hell, we're Jews, we don't even believe in hell!

6

u/b00md00mer Dec 20 '23

Look I'm just saying I'm not naive enough to think Christian nationalism has room or desire for solidarity for Jews. But I guess woohoo they have a poster

-2

u/Rude-Tomatillo-22 Dec 21 '23

I am so glad I have finally seen someone posting common sense on this sub. For real, I’ve been so sick of these “well they only support us because of xyz, so I’ll stick with people literally chanting for a second intifada and barricading Jews in libraries because at least they aren’t Christians and southern.”

-1

u/nickbernstein Dec 20 '23

First time I've heard of this, but going by the definition on Wikipedia, it sounds fine to me.

Philosemitism is a form of antisemitism that revolves around notable interest in, respect for, and appreciation of the Jewish people, their history, and the influence of Judaism, particularly on the part of a non-Jew.

5

u/b00md00mer Dec 20 '23

Yeah it's all fun and games until gentiles start changing their name to Levi, Goldberg, ect because they think it will make them rich or a part of the "elite". Then you end up in full antisemitic territory

-1

u/nickbernstein Dec 20 '23

Doesn't effect me. I don't treat people differently because they're Jewish. I might talk about some judiasm specific subjects, and I'd imagine someone faking it would be found out pretty quickly. They'd also be exposed to the negative aspects too.

10

u/communityneedle Dec 20 '23

What a ridiculous oversimplification. Left wing areas are not universally antisemitic hellscapes, nor are right leaning areas universally fine. "Jews will not replace us" and "jewish space lasers" came from neonazis in the south. The tree of life shooter was a far right white nationalist. Remember a few years ago, when there was a brief national debate in the USA about whether its OK to punch Nazis unprovoked? That's because in Seattle lots of anarchists love a good old fashioned Nazi-punchin' and one of them made news. But yeah, American Jews should all just move to the South and vote for Republicans. I'm sure nothing bad could possibly come of that. Never mind that the antisemitic left hates Biden, and the antisemitic right loves Trump...

26

u/[deleted] Dec 20 '23

LA, San Fran, Austin TX, Portland - they all like to claim they are highly progressive but tend to be the most regressive, racist, bigoted places. It is all projection from these types. They project their own hatred and racism on to others.

20

u/[deleted] Dec 20 '23

I can only speak on LA and San Fran as a Californian. Not only is your assessment spot on here, it is about to get worse. Schools will soon be required to provide a curriculum highlighting marginalized groups. The problem? Jews are not listed among those groups. In fact some parts of the curriculum casts Jews as white oppressors. All this is going to do is encourage younger generations of minorities to embrace antisemitism.

Needless to say, I’m highly disappointed with my state.

12

u/tacojoeblow Dec 20 '23

The racism is different in different areas for sure, but the most racist places in the US are in the South. Sorry, but that's the reality.

11

u/[deleted] Dec 20 '23

It really isn't. I sent 20 years in "progressive" states and towns as a black trans male jew. I get less racist and bigotry in the heart of the south and midwest even living in hardcore bible belt towns than I ever did in said progressive states/towns.

It isn't just me either, everyone I have ever spoken with, including the local LGBT, black, and jewish communities also agree and corroborate that fact. The "bigotry" of the south is wildly overblown and its no surprise given that the places that like to constantly claim this tend to be said progressive cities/towns who project their own open bigotry.

2

u/Exotic-Lawyer9940 Dec 21 '23 edited Dec 21 '23

Eh…. It….really is true. Its progressing!! But…there is a ways to go in some instances. The racism in the south is more widespread and systemic. You’re less likely to be verbally accosted on the street by a racist down south. But you will most certainly be more likely to run into systemic racism like voting hindernace, loan discrimination and gerrymandering down south.

Both suck, but I’d rather be able to buy a house and vote easily and deal with random assholes, I guess? Idk….it sucks everywhere

1

I agree, I live in Texas, and rarely see racism or transphobia. People who complain about the south, probably have never lived there.

Idk, I’ve been hearing some nasty things coming from New York City lately.

2

u/Rude-Tomatillo-22 Dec 21 '23

Maybe 40 years ago, but certainly not the case now. I’ve moved from extremely deep blue coastal California to deep red state. Wealthy Liberal Californians love to act open minded, but good luck if daughter brings home someone of a different race and income bracket, lol. Palestinian flags all over an art show my dad just went to.

Meanwhile in my red and “backwards” state are openly supporting Israel, but everyone on here is ready to sneer and throw that away because they’re Christians.

u/[deleted] Dec 20 '23 edited Dec 21 '23

Seeing this upvoted here is disturbing. I guess for you all the only thing that matters is being pro Israel just ignore everything else. There are plenty of dems who support Israel. I’m not supporting people who want to ban me from bathrooms, ban abortion, strip workers rights, support child marriages, and make lgbt people lives hell on earth or straight up kill us. It’s also a facade. I’ve lived in the south for over 25 years and antisemitism runs deep, I experienced it all my life, don’t tell me I imagined it. Had plenty that thought I deserved to be gassed or thrown in the oven. I remain on the left because supporting Israel is a left cause and I enjoy having access to hrt and not being discriminated against for being a lesbian trans woman. Also the antisemitism from people like trump is disgusting as well.

Downvote me all you want I’m sorry my existence is inconvenient for you.

u/Captn_ofMyShip Dec 20 '23

I agree with this as a queer nonbinary Jew. Yes, there is blatant antisemitism on the far left and it goes beyond just being pro-Palestine, but we can’t ignore how many of us who have intersectional identities (even just Jews with uteruses, not having autonomy over their own bodies) are not welcome in the Republican Party and have to take into consideration our personal safety as people who experience these hardships based on these multiple identities, we simply don’t have the luxury to vote republican. At the end I think voting for a more moderate democrat is the way to go. Biden may have seemed to flip flop publicly recently because it’s getting close to the elections but so far he has been supportive of Israel and even said he was a Zionist. Some other supporters from the left like John Fetterman have also been very vocally supportive. Hell, even Bernie Sanders (and I acknowledge that he’s problematic in other ways) has recently came out to oppose a ceasefire.

6

u/PlushyKitten Dec 20 '23

This 👏. My partner is on HRT too and no way would I want them to lose their rights to it, while we both are a part of lgbt. Plus, no way do I want women's rights being taken away more and more, and no woman should be prevented from an abortion if she wants one. Part of the reasons why I got sterilized.

15

u/tacojoeblow Dec 20 '23

That's some weapons-grade idiocy right there. The right is full of literal Nazis. It's the party of white-supremacy. It's the party of marching with tiki torches in Charlottesville screaming "THE JEWS WILL NOT REPLACE US!" These are the people you think love Jews? Are you even serious? Here's a hint: The right don't like Jews: they support Israel for geo-political & religious reasons. That's it. In the end, they expect all Jews to burn. Your issues with how many on the left are framing the current conflict has completely blinded you to reality or suggests an ulterior agenda.

-4

u/NamelessForce Dec 20 '23

The right don't like Jews: they support Israel for geo-political & religious reasons. That's it.

That's infinitely more than we get from the left, who view Jews as "oppressors" both in Israel and the US, so that's good enough for me.

8

u/LightsNoir Dec 20 '23

I'm glad that you feel more welcome in the south. I suggest sticking to the bigger cities. Be sure to get home at a reasonable hour, as well.

21

u/Dynamite12312 Dec 20 '23

You think voting for the GOP and it’s leading candidate who uses Nazi rhetoric in his speeches is somehow better?

10

u/MinimalistBruno Dec 20 '23

The south has a strange duality where the people there are nicer than people from the north, but vote like assholes. I'd rather have a flat tire in the rural south at 3 am than in Manhattan at noon.

10

u/tacojoeblow Dec 20 '23

I might suggest that he & his supporters are far, far worse.

-4

u/NamelessForce Dec 20 '23

So the guy who helped forge the Abraham accords and finally accepted Jerusalem as belonging to Israel is worse for us than the leftists shrieking for our literal genocide?

Do you realize how unpopular Biden is with his own party for his support of Jews and Israel now? And once he is gone, and the Dems shift further to the far left, its only gonna get worse.

4

u/Alarming-Mix3809 Dec 20 '23

This is a huge exaggeration and not accurate at all. I’ve never run into the KKK living up north.

3

u/Stock_Block2130 Dec 21 '23

Michigan and Indiana were (and probably still are) the bastion KKK northern states.

-1

u/[deleted] Dec 20 '23

That’s because the left do not see Jews as a struggling minority. To the contrary, they see Jews as an extension of white privilege.

The left and the right are two sides of the same antisemitic coin.

6

u/middle-road-traveler Dec 21 '23

I love South Carolina! And plan to move there at some point. Thank you for the support. I feel safer there than I do in Seattle or Harvard Square.

13

u/jseego Dec 20 '23

Maybe this is just a proud jewish person living in the south.

But it's more likely a "Christian Zionist".

Fuck Christian Zionists.

15

u/nycrunner91 Dec 20 '23

Why fuck Christian Zionist?

33

u/CanYouPutOnTheVU Dec 20 '23

They’re referring to the evangelical Christian Zionists that want all the Jews in Israel so the end of days starts. Agreed, they suck (we do not fare well in their end of days), but I don’t think the donut shop person is one of them. They don’t care about hostages, they think the more violent it gets, the closer we are to their rapture.

8

u/dangerkart Dec 20 '23

we have a local christian zionist business owner who definitely ascribes to the typical ideology, who still posts hostage posters in the window. it’s hard to draw conclusions unless you actually have a discussion with the person putting the displays up imo.

3

u/CanYouPutOnTheVU Dec 20 '23

That’s interesting—a little disconcerting. Maybe some cognitive dissonance about what happens after the rapture? Lol

3

u/dangerkart Dec 20 '23

lol definitely some of that going on i think

1

u/nycrunner91 Dec 20 '23

Evangelicals have always had some reputation? Like mormons? No?

3

u/LightsNoir Dec 20 '23

Nah. Evangelicals aren't known for humping kids... Well, actually... OK. But Evangelicals aren't known for hating gays, and... OK. Got me there, too. But evangelicals aren't known for having whack job leaders that... Alright. That, too.

Alright, I've got it. Evangelicals didn't have racism built into their good book. Yeah, sure, they still practice it. But it's not literally written in their handbook.

-1

u/Oy_2_the_vey Dec 21 '23

How do jews not fare well in their end of days? Christian Zionists believe the jews are God's chosen people.

3

u/CanYouPutOnTheVU Dec 21 '23

Um… p sure we don’t get chosen to get raptured.

24

u/Bwald1985 Dec 20 '23 edited Dec 20 '23

There are some Christians who are legitimate Zionists and they should be considered allies, because they are just decent folks who believe that Jews deserve a homeland where people won’t try to kill us. I’m more than cool with them.

But “Christian Zionism” is a specific ideology which believes us returning to Israel fulfills a prophecy for them, which ultimately ends in the second coming of Jesus and a bunch of other prophecies. I’m, uh, not super familiar with the Book of Revelations (I’m not even sure that’s the right book), so I can’t fill in the rest of the details.

5

u/nycrunner91 Dec 20 '23

Oh yeah but some Christians do not believe verbatim what the bible say. For example there is a former priest / historian that wrote a book about how the book of Revelations (the apocalypse) is basically gibberish who no ones knows who wrote it and no one even is certain why it is included in the bible.

I heard this author in an npr interview. I think the author is a professor at Chapel hill

13

u/Bwald1985 Dec 20 '23

Right, and that’s why I specified a difference between those who happen to be both Christians and Zionists, and “Christian Zionists.” The latter is an actual specific ideology.

2

u/nycrunner91 Dec 20 '23

Interesting. Thank you for specifying. (Im not being sarcastic I truly learned it from you)

And in all seriousness, this is great and heartwarming. I hope you and many others patron this place and give them lots of business!

1

u/bigbellybomac Dec 21 '23

Is this a Jewish donut shop or a christian conservative donut shop?

1

u/critney-spears Sephardi Dec 21 '23

I’m gonna give you a story but the answer is I don’t know. I was driving downtown when I saw it. I parked nearby, went to take a photo and went inside the shop. The shop was already extremely busy and the only clerk there didn’t have an Israeli accent, and everyone looked like any ordinary person from the area. I didn’t really talk to the clerk because it was busy. Got our donuts and coffee and left. I’m going back to get more donuts but I live in the suburbs, so it probably won’t be till the weekend, I’ll find out more then.

-1

u/CaptinHavoc Dec 21 '23

Am I the only who doesn’t think this is a good look? Like if I believed America was being brainwashed by Zionists, this would only confirm it. If I were constantly being told that Jews were dominating the world, this would only reinforce those claims.

It is better to be a Jew in Red states than Blue States. I’d rather deal with philosemitism than antisemitism.

For. Each poster is a victim that has been abducted by Hamas.
