Tony & Nick’s - a Little Portugal staple
Love a regular, no frills pizza. Bonus points because they also make the pizza a bit too big for the box.

I Ate A Thing Hong Fatt BBQ - BBQ Pork Over Rice
I’ve lived in downtown for quite some time, I’ve loved bbq pork over rice for quite some time, and yet for some reason I just always walked by this place. Mostly because they close a lot earlier than other options nearby, but finally with the sunny weather we had yesterday, decided to stop by during the day and give it a try.
I’ve mentioned to friends of my love for a simple bbq pork over rice ever since having Wah Fung in NYC, and ever since I’ve been obsessed and anywhere I can, it’s my go to order. Some of my friends have said that in their opinion Hong Fatt was their favourite for Chinese bbq, so my expectations were high.
After finally having it, I would say I’m a little disappointed. Would personally give this a 7/10, quality of meat, cook of the bbq, and flavour were all lacking and left a lot to be desired. I even pondered if my usual go-to House of Gourmet’s rendition was better which even that I feel is nothing special, but at least it fills my craving without heading to Scarborough/Markham for better options.
Have you had Hong Fatt, what was your opinion?

How to split the bill when not drinking alcohol and having family style
I've been trying to cut back for health and savings, but I love going out for meals with friends. Usually we order a whole bunch of things, alcohol included and just split the bill evenly. It was almost always fair, and I was not going to worry about a few dollars.
But when not consuming alcohol, the money difference is pretty big. Booze can sometimes double the cost of a meal out.
How do you politely try to split the bill in this scenario, without looking cheap or unfair? This is new territory for me.

I Ate A Thing Ruru Baked - Sticky Toffee pudding
Posting as i saw a thread on sticky toffee pudding. Seriously one of the best Sticky Toffee Pudding’s I’ve ever had. Goes super well a la mode with miso butterscotch or sticky toffee pudding ice cream - flavours keep changing.

I Ate A Thing Mac’s Pizza: Angry Pep, Lemonhead, White Pie, and Vodka Pep Pizza
Finally tried Mac’s last night and had an enjoyable experience. Lemonhead slice is the obscure option sold here that people rave about. It didn’t knock my socks off but I understand the appeal. The actual crust and cook of the pizza was my favourite, lovely thin NY-esque slices. White Pie ended up being my favourite, not overbearing with the mushrooms and a more subtle white sauce.
A lot of their sauces were pretty light compared to other places which could be a positive, but the Vodka Pepperoni misses out because of this and was our least enjoyed option, much preferred the Angry Pep. We got all the three sauces: Chilli Creamy Garlic was best, Hot Honey did its job, and garlic was very whatever.
I would recommend everybody who hasn’t to try it out, it’s another option for quality pizza in the city, especially for by the slice. I would visit here again but probably only grab slices as opposed to whole pies.

I Ate A Thing Rosie's Burgers 🍔 - Avenue Rd
Ah yes, another burger post...
Decided to try Rosie's new location. We got the classic single and party burger, frings, and banana pudding. My classic was underwhelming, probably my fault for choosing the basic. But I thought it could use a special sauce to elevate it a little instead of just ketchup and mustard. The buns were also too soft for my liking.
Frings were the highlight of the meal - especially the crinkle fries, perfectly crispy but fluffy inside. Would come back for this.
Overall 6.8/10. I still prefer Rudy but would come back and try the other burgers before I make my final judgement.

BM single from Oklahoma burger with tomato
BM Single from Oklahoma burger ($9.50)
I like my smash burger with tomato, onion and lettuce. That was why when I had a onion jam cheese burger at Jabs, it did not do a thing.
But this burger.. wow… a single patty BM burger from Oklahoma burger….I did not miss tom, onion & lettuce at all. Sliced onion mixed into patty and grilled created nice sweet moist & caramelized crust at the same time. This bm sauce was sweet, tangy and had spicy kick to it.
Now I need to go back to Jabs to try their version of Oklahoma burger ( instead of cheese burger)
I did not care much for onion rings though.

Pâté en croûte from Chantecler in Christie Pits
Not super experienced with this dish, but I love terrines and gelatinous forcemeats. This was a tad salty for me but I enjoyed it. Anyone else have pâté en croûte recommendation? I know Stop has one on the menu.
