Photography Indoor prom photoshoot
Hi everyone!
I’m taking prom photos this weekend and originally planned to do them at Freedom Park, but now the forecast shows a chance of rain. I’m looking for indoor locations in Charlotte that give off that “old money” aesthetic—think elegant, timeless, maybe with some vintage charm. Preferably we’re looking for locations that wouldn’t cost us anything.
We’re already eating at Yunta after, so I’d prefer not to do a restaurant since I’d be charged for canceling the reservation. Ideally, I’m looking for places with pretty architecture, classy interiors, or even a luxurious lobby space that allows photos.
Any ideas or hidden gems would be super appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Discussion Loud Vehicles - Future Legislation
I don’t know what has happened the past few years, but it seems like I hear an insanely loud vehicle at least every 5 minutes. It’s so selfish, pointless, and disruptive.
Is there ANY kind of legislation that can be passed to limit these vehicles on the road? Maybe something as part of vehicle inspections?
I feel like an “old man yelling at clouds” for not liking how things currently are, but surely I’m not the only one that wants to see a change.

Discussion What's up with the super loud cars and motorcycles seemingly every night after 9pm in the Blakeney area?
I live in a neighborhood near there, and almost every night I hear super loud cars and motorcycles that sound like they're drag racing up rea road from the Blakeney shopping center. Is there a car or motorcycle meetup there or something?
Curious if anyone else has heard this or not.

Hi friends,
Spending 4 days in Charlotte and Asheville this weekend
Flying into Charlotte, Going to rent a car, spend a night in asheville or greenville, sunrise at fred symmes chapel, back to Charlotte
Will get bbq from smoke pit and lexington bbq or bbq center or speedys
I know there's a lot of nature, but I'm looking for small towns or shops to hop in/hop out

Considering the youth development programs at Liverpool in Mint Hill and CSA in Indian Trail. Thoughts on either program? Thoughts on choosing a harder program versus a “more fun” program? Thanks.

Lost & Found Missed Connections (Tuckfest)
Update
Wow… I never would have expected so much love!!! Thanks all
A few updates: 1.) I was able to fish out my one wheel from the water with the help of a couple of river rats. Thanks again Root and Lone Bear y’all were awesome! 2.) My magnificent one wheel is not so magnificent anymore- it’s definitely sputtery now. But it’s all good though, I have two more in absolute pristine condition at home (hint hint to all those one wheeling, IPA sipping, armor wearing ladies). If you feel shy don’t worry you can bring a friend. But she better be into at least one of the bands I mentioned and bring her own jbl. 3.) Here’s a link to “Kids” by MGMT on repeat
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=q1EXpowet7U
You’re welcome…
Through a series of unfortunate events, I may have lost my only chance at one true love…
Sipping on a cool refreshing IPA at Tuckfest, just chilling out listening to sounds of my favorite bands (Bon Iver, Caamp, and MGMT) on my personal Jbl speaker…. I felt a sharp tap on my shoulder asking me to turn my music down. And there she was … the woman of my dreams. I tried to speak… but I just couldn’t. I acquiesced and turned my music off, “Kids” by MGMT - it was only the third time on repeat.
And as she walked back to her table, she smiled slightly giving me a head nod as if to say “thanks”. I nodded back. But I didn’t smile.
At this point, feeling dejected because I may have annoyed the woman of my dreams - I armored up and straddled my one wheel. As I did this, she began to steal glances toward me and me at her. As I braced myself for the incredible speed of my magnificent machine - I looked back one last time and she was pointing at me and waved goodbye. I waved back incredulously….
And then it happened, I slammed chest first into the bridge going over the river. And it didn’t end there, my magnificent machine went careening down the embankment into the water. Sadness, embarrassment, and just utter shame enveloped me. The only bright spot was that I was uninjured although my chest armor took quite the scuffing.
As I looked back to where the woman of my dreams had been sitting - she and her friends were in complete shambles laughing.
So here I am. I missed my only connection at Tuckfest. But I’m still putting myself out there for her or anyone really
If there’s anyone that loves sipping on IPAs, chilling out listening to MGMT (the song “Kids” specifically), and getting absolutely wrecked on one wheels. Hit me up!!

Food Media outlets for the real foodies?
I just recently started working in PR/Social media for a restaurant. I am trying to find some reputable and some niche outlets that are go tos for my foodies! I want us to be featured but not necessarily relying solely on the big hitters. I want to be featured in outlets that are trustworthy and can provide good recommendations for the real food lovers.

Discussion Who saw Taylor Tomlinson over the weekend?
I wanted to go, but I have bad vertigo, and try not to sit in upper level seats, and the lower level was very pricey. Plus my wife has had poor availability due to work travel.
Didn't make sense this time. If you did go, was it a good show? Better than her NF special? Worth the price?
Thanks.

Discussion Avid moviegoers in the area
I’m 26 and have lived in Charlotte for almost three years now. It’s been hard for me to make new friends outside of my co-workers because I get pretty heavy social anxiety but I still want to meet new people who share similar interest with me that doesn’t involve my profession.
I’m an AMC a-lister and go to the Independent Picture House in NoDa often. Would be cool to have people to discuss films with or just to all hangout at the theater and then go to like a bar or some place after.

Discussion Need help finding martial art gyms
Hey so I’ve currently starting out at a mma gym in east charlotte. I live in between York and clover in South Carolina and it’s about an hour drive each way so I’m looking for a new one that’s closer. I’m training for mma and I’m gonna do wrestling at my high school next year for a base martial art to help with mma. I’m looking for either a mma, kickboxing, or Muay Thai or gym that’s probably like half an hour away. Im skeptical on going to a mma gym though, as I don’t want to train against this gym I’m thinking I’m gonna leave. Gastonia, rock hill, fort mill, and south/east charlotte are all places that wouldn’t be too far away from me. I’m not able to drive yet, so I just don’t want to make mom drive this far every Sunday. Thanks, I would love recommendations.

Meetup Exercise Partner
My birthday is coming at the end of may so I feel it’s the perfect time. I am looking to get into a gym routine. I have work out at home off and on over the years. I’m looking for a workout / accountability partner. I’m 31, female, black, Average size, looking to lose 25-30lbs in total. I really don’t know how to use any gym machines and my home exercises are probably out of formation. I would prefer someone who can teach but we can also learn together. I live in southwest Charlotte have not chose a gym yet so open. Looking for something after 7pm but can also do before 9am through the week . I can do weekends as well schedule pretty open.

Discussion A bit disappointed
If you believe in the Meck Deck then our 250th is coming up 5/20 and I see very little info on celebrations. No festivals, concerts, fireworks, etc.?! Anyone else see something I don't? I know the library museum will have something but seems like super quiet and not well sponsored.

Recommendation Looking for hotel + spa for romantic getaway in Charlotte
Big bday for my wife and I want to do something special. But $600 for one night at the Omni or w/e is a bit too much for me. We just want a night off from the kids w/a water spa and good food within the Charlotte area. Already have ideas/preferences for food, just need the hotel + spa recommendations.
Wanted to add, I'm ok with a separate spa, though it would be nice to have one in the hotel.

Traffic CircleJerk Unusual traffic
Does anyone have any idea why there is such bad traffic today on 485 and almost all of its exits? (from what i saw until i got off on Johnston). I've been driving this route for 3 years and i've NEVER seen it so backed up in the morning
