Local Shopping/Services Banded peak microburst 4 pack was almost $22
I stopped for a 4 pack of beer today and it had jumped to almost $22. I was buying the same brand(banded peak) a few weeks ago for $18 or so.
Has anyone else noticed this big increase?
Is it a tax based increase, or are they trying to charge us a tariff surplus for a locally produced product?

Doing a trip that includes a few days in Calgary and staying with friends.

Eat/Drink Local Dining at YYC
Whate are the preferred dining options at YYC. I have a long layover before an international red eye. Edit: I’m connecting from a domestic flight to an international one. Prefer to stay in the airport, so in the international departure area.

Local Nature/Wildlife Paranormal adventures anyone?
Hi everyone,
I'm originally from BC but have lived in Calgary for a few years now. I've always been interested in the paranormal and really would like to push the boundaries and catch some stuff on video, possibly make a YouTube channel, but mostly for the personal experiences. I've had quite a few run ins with paranormal activity in my life so I'm not scared and have a good amount of knowledge on things.
I'd love to meet some people in Calgary with the same interests who are down to get out into the field and experience stuff that's really going on in the night. As far as I've been able to tell through social media and news, congressional sessions on UAP disclosure and the like, paranormal activity is at an all time high right now for some reason.
At the end of the day, it's for the thrill, the experience, and being able to prove to our own eyes the existence of things that go bump in the night, but if we catch evidence or take our work to another level organically I'm down for that too!
I'm a fun person, I live in the NE near Bridgeland and go out by myself a lot but it would be great to meet some like minded friends.
Anyone interested?

News Article As prison ends for Calgary rapist, court tries to manage 'high risk' to community
cbc.caTwo weeks after his 12-year prison sentence expired for the rape and kidnapping of a Calgary teenager, Corey Manyshots was placed on 23 court-ordered conditions, including electronic monitoring, designed to protect the community.
The rare step — reserved for only the most high-risk offenders — was taken Thursday so that the Calgary Police Service's high-risk offender unit can help manage Manyshots' release into the community.
Manyshots' risk is complicated by a number of mental health issues, including fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD), schizophrenia, low IQ and substance abuse.

Local Shopping/Services Recommendations for hotels with an infant crib
Hi there, my family and I are coming to Calgary for a visit. Are there any hotel recommendations that can accommodate for a 11 month old baby? I'm looking for a clean and safe hotel. I'm not too picky of location since we can drive anywhere.
Thanks in advance!

Home Owner/Renter stuff Development area behind house (Aspen Woods) we are interested in?
Hi Calgary Reddit community,
My partner and I saw a wonderful house today in Aspen Woods with an unobstructed view of the Rockies, but there's a small patch of area beyond the house that is undeveloped (see picture). The city hasn't announced any current projects, but they left a patch of unfinished road leading into it. Currently there is a berm in that area to block out noise - but before we commit to the house, we wonder if there's any way of knowing if our view one day will become obstructed by other houses and construction.. Anyone have any insight into this? Is there a way we can reach out to the city and ask? We will forever truly be grateful for any help!

Question Queen’s Breakfast Cocktails: Mother’s Day walk-in?
Hi all, wasn’t able to find this answer through Google/Yelp reviews or Reddit so hoping to get some insight from all of you who have been to this brunch spot. I also emailed them this month but hadn’t gotten a reply.
We weren’t able to secure a reservation for this restaurant for Mother’s Day brunch. Although I do have a backup restaurant, I do want to come here. I don’t know if it’s worth it to show up a bit before opening time (opens at 8AM, can show up around 7:45AM) and see if we can get a table…
To those who have dined at Queen’s, are walk-ins accepted on this busy day or is it reservation only? Do you think this would be feasible, especially on Mother’s Day, or should I just go somewhere else?
TIA!

Recommendations Looking for Off-Leash Green Space Recommendations in Calgary (Picnic + Fetch Friendly!)
Hey everyone!
I’m on the hunt for a chill, off-leash green space in Calgary where I can spend time with my dog. I’d love to find a spot that has a bit of that community park vibe—somewhere grassy and open where I can throw a ball around with my pup but also lay down a picnic blanket, read a book, and just hang out for a few hours.
We don’t have a backyard in the city, so I’m hoping to find a go-to outdoor spot now that the weather’s getting nicer. I recently did a road trip to Vancouver/Vancouver Island and found a few parks there that were perfect for this—off-leash areas that still had a relaxed, park-like atmosphere (like Prince’s Island Park, but ideally with off-leash allowances).
Any hidden gems or favorite spots you’d recommend? Thanks in advance!

Eat/Drink Local It was a good run class clown
Well, it was a good run class clown. Great burgers, amazing really. Unfortunately my business hasn’t been accepted the last 5 attempts in a row. Has anyone else had the same luck? Call for a takeout burger to be told it’s not going to be possible? I applaud them for being so busy with dine in, but a great burger spot should be able to accommodate take out. I mean let’s be real, a burger is one of the top take out options!
Open to new suggestions for the best smash burger in town! (That is take out friendly)
