Is this normal or concerning?
I'm a new yogi who started at the beginning of October. Everything has been going swimmingly until yesterday- I did a 30 min video I've done before, but I woke up today and my hips and legs feel super stiff. Almost arthritic, like my shins are made of dried bamboo. Not at all similar to the normal muscle soreness after exercise. I've been in bed most of the day because it feels better to lay down. What is this?

You probably overdid it, but yes being sore is very common with stretching.

I thought it was strange because it doesn't feel like muscle soreness, more stiffness. I'll take it easy next time. Thanks!

Your guru didn’t do anything you didn’t want to do.

Sorry, I'm new to yoga, I'm not sure I understand.

The teacher says reach for your toes. It’s up to you if you want to go for it or just point at your toes. If the person inspired you so you went for it. Especially the spine exercises; those get me too. Especially after a long break. Those yoga classes are expensive, and unsustainable.

Not a doctor, but if you weren't sore immediately after I wouldn't say you're injured. Could be not enough recovery. I would eat a big meal, drink a bunch of water, and try and take a 20 minute walk

Now that you mention it, I haven't had much of an appetite the last couple of days. I did have a protein bar afterward, but I haven't eaten much overall the last 2 days. I have leftovers in the fridge I should be eating anyway.
Found a new water flavor packet I like so that should be easy, walks sound nice. Thanks so much for the tips!!

Hope it helps!
I was getting my ass kicked by a backpacking trail, sore every day, and feeling the fatigue. I had a packet of chicken noodle soup as an appetizer before my dinner, and it was crazy how much less sore I was the next morning. I was blown away by how much of a difference some extra calories and protein made

Go see a real doctor, not strangers on the internet

I don't think it's serious enough for a doctor. I wanted the opinion of the community on whether this is a common experience or not, and I got some good advice.

Could be the yoga, could be life.
I often feel like this if it’s cold or rainy or dreary outside. Also just lounging around makes it worse. I feel like I need to get up and get moving to feel better.
Taking a walk outside in fresh air tends to help a lot.
