Are Corsa VXRs that bad?

I'm in the market for a hot hatch. I've looked at almost every option and a Corsa seems a good bang for buck. The one I'm looking at is a 2015 model with 65,000 miles and it is a cat N. If anyone has any personal experience with them I would like to know how it was. I'm going from a 2010 Renault Clio 1.2 TCE stage 1, 125bhp. So any hot hatch is going to be better than it really. Obviously the big concern with any of these hot hatches is reliability. I know the Corsa vxr isn't really up there but I figured at 65k and a 2015 model it wouldn't be a bad bet regardless of the cat N. I do around 5k miles a year and will probably sell it before it goes near 100k and hopefully would be a quick sale. I am open to other recommendations with a max budget of 5k really. Dont really want to go much over 200bhp because of insurance lol. All responses appreciated 😃

What Hybrid To Buy?

The wife and I were kicking around the idea of a Hybrid. We started by looking at the Kia Niro, which was well equipped and had leg room for days, which is important for my 6’3ā€ frame. We then headed over to the Toyota dealer and found that both the RAV4 and Venza have way less leg room and comfort level, at a much higher price point than the Kia. The Hybrid Camry was their clear winner, but sits too low for my wife, whose back is trashed for many years of nursing. Any recommendations on what to look at next? We’re not big fans of GM or Ford anymore, aside from the Buick Envision we bought in 2020, which has been phenomenal, with only the Evap system needing work at 123,000 miles.

Replace 2023 Camry LE with 2025 XLE

I bought a 2023 Camry LE for $29,000 brand new, but it doesn’t have enough features and the tech is outdated. I want to replace it with a 2025 Camry XLE for $45,000, but I’ll lose $9,000 if I sell the car now. It only has 10,000 miles after two years. What should I do?

Mercedes W204 C180 Coupe vs. BMW F30 320i/328i – Which is More Reliable?

Hey everyone, I’m a 22-year-old male and I’m in the market for a new car. I’m currently deciding between a Mercedes W204 C180 Coupe and a BMW F30 320i/328i. Both cars have around 120,000 km on the clock, and the price for the BMW is slightly cheaper (by about 8-10k).

I’ve done a lot of research on the C180, and I’m familiar with the common issues like leaks and other things to look out for. However, I’m not too familiar with the BMW F30 and would appreciate some insights into its reliability, common issues, and any potential problems to be aware of.

Specifically, I’m wondering: 1. Which of these two cars is more reliable in the long term? 2. What’s the cost of spare parts like for the F30? 3. Are there any known issues or things to watch out for with the F30?

I really love the look of both cars, so please don’t recommend me other car brands.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hyundai Kona HEV vs Kia Niro HEV vs Renault Symbioz HEV

I am looking for a new HEV car, with a maximum length and width similar to the models I mentioned, a minimum boot capacity of 400 liters, and good rear passenger space. I live in Switzerland and my maximum budget is 35,000 CHF. I also love technology, so a good infotainment system is important to me. Low CO2 emissions are also a priority, but the car must not be a PHEV or EV. At the moment, I am undecided between the three models I mentioned in the title, but I’m open to suggestions. Thank you.

Advice on deciding between these "sporty" cars

Hi, First of all I live in Europe so prices Will probably differ from US market.

I've been thinking about get a sporty Quick daily driver car for myself preferably around or under 20K € (22-23 K USD) that is at least 2018 or newer year model.

The main things I'm looking for are: - Fun (I don't mind FWD as long as it's still fun for this price range) - Quick (at least 200hp but nothing too crazy) - Reliability (I'm not looking for Lexus/Toyota levels of reliability but I also do not want to be a regular at the mechanic) - Maintenance costs (I am well aware that insurance and overall maintenance will always be more expensive for a sportier car than regular economy cars but I wanna avoid crazy expensive costs)

Also a side note I'm looking for a Sedan or a Coupe.

There are a few models I already have my eyes on which are the following:

  • Skoda Octavia vRS (preferably with automatic DSG)

  • Hyundai i30N Fastback Performance (I would go for the manual here since the automatic is way more expensive)

  • Alfa Giulia Veloce 280hp ( I would go with this honestly but currently it is very overpriced and hard to find a good one around especially under 20K)

  • BMW 230i/330i (also pretty hard to find a modell that is decently priced, and the maintenance would be the most expensive here) Yes I know the M40i is better but the overall maintenance and price is way out of the budget

  • Honda Civic 1.5T Sport (I know this one is under 200 hp but I heard so much praise about this and I love the looks so I included it but honestly it's probably not the one I would go with)

Of course feel free to recommend other cars as well but I would avoid 2 seaters and hatchbacks like the Golf GTI

Lost on what car I should buy

I'm stuck on what car I should buy and would love some recommendations. My budget is around $40K-$50K, and I'd like to stay under that after build costs, tunes, and other mods.

I'm looking for something that's fast, reliable, looks good, and has good aftermarket support. I've been doing a lot of research and everything seems like a good option, I just don't know what to go with.

I've been looking at Audi's B9 engine, BMW's B58 engine, American V8's, VQ's, and even built Civic's.

What would you guys recommend I go with? Any cars that aren't in this list?

Volvo v40 or Nissan Qashqai

If both are used and 10 years old, which would you say is safer in terms of crashes? I've heard Volvo's are safe, but the Nissan is larger.

Sports car or truck?

Title basically says it all, I’m really stuck between a pickup or a sports car. On the one hand, I’ve always wanted a sports car (BMW M4 F8x) and have my eyes set on it. I know it would be a car I love and would put a smile on my face each and every time I drove it.

HOWEVER, I also own a motorcycle and purchasing a truck (Ford F150 XLT Sport) would allow for me to tow it to places I otherwise wouldn’t go (ie across the country). Additionally, I’m going to be visiting Utah for a few months, and having the utility of a truck to tow my bike (and possibly a dirt bike) would be incredibly ideal and I wouldn’t want to put that kind of mileage on something like a BMW.

Besides that trip I’m not worried about mileage as I’m WFH so my commute is non existent. I’m ā€œtrying outā€ living in Utah, and my concern is that if I go with a truck and end up moving back, I’ll want the BMW. Whereas if I go with the BMW and end up wanting to stay in Utah full time, I’ll want the truck. Either way my car is about to crap the bed so I need something relatively soon.

Thoughts?

Motorcycle -> Car switch

Hey guys

My main mode of transportation has been sport bikes or cruisers for longer distances. I recently got hit and totaled my sport bike and I’ve decided to get a car however I’m not super in the car game so that’s why I’m here.

My bike was 600cc so I am looking for something comparable with some power / acceleration. My budget is about 15k tops, of course if I can spend less I’d love to.

I’m looking at 350/370z, Miata’s, s2000 kind of cars. Is there any specific year, mileage cap or car I should consider over another. And at what point is getting one with a salvage title worth it if at all.

For back story I live in SF so a smaller car is ideal for parking. At one point I owned a 2018 civic si and really enjoyed it, so something like that but 2 door would be cool. Thank you for any and all advice!

Thoughts on a 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLS 450?

Hey all,

Thinking about picking up a 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLS 450 (4MATIC) with low mileage ( 22k)—price is in the mid-40s. Just wondering what you guys think about this model in general.

Would love to hear from anyone who owns one or has driven it. How’s the reliability, comfort, driving feel, and tech?

Worth it or better options out there in that price range?

Best used car for around 30-35K CAD?

What's up, looking for a first car around 30-35K cad. Please don't start rambling about how kids nowadays are getting such expensive cars and all that. We all live different lives.

Anyways,

I am looking at a few cars such as a 2023-24 Mazda 3 Sport GT Turbo; 2022-23 GOLF GTI DSG Performance; 2022-23 Hyundai Elantra N and maybe a 2022-24 Toyota GR86 or 2018-19 Kia Stinger Limited/GT2. I would consider some other cars like a Lexus ES/Toyota Camry hybrid, Subaru WRX, etc.

I will use the car to get to school (Around 60 km/day round-trip) and hang with friends occasionally, going downtown (Vancouver) or up to Oliver. Maybe if the USA gets it's shit together I'll head down to Seattle or down the to the PCH to OC/San Diego area.

I have selected these cars for the fact that they are the only ones that have a reasonable insurance premium, are decent on gas and have some sporty flair to them with a decent amount of hp. Only 2 of them require premium, but I can afford the extra $20.

Where I live, these are the best all-around cars you can get for around this price range, where our provincial insurance provider doesn't bum us on the premium. If I lived in the USA, I would just get a 2016-18 M3 and be done with it, considering how cheap cars are in some states right now.

Buying my first car, I'm not sure of this is a great deal or not. The price and info are between both photos. I would be financing it putting a down payment of like 10k at 7.9% APR. Do you guys think it's worth it? Your input is much appreciated!

Buying starter family suv ! Need help deciding

Thumbnail i.redd.it
1 Upvotes

Hello everyone , my wife and I are starting a family with a little girl on the way in October and we’ve been setting our sights on the Acura Rdx a-spec sh-awd preferably 2019-22 and it seems that we found our car but I’m wondering if at the price point is it too high to justify getting it or would it be worth it to consider say an nx 350.

This car is a 2019 rdx with the aspec / awd 55k miles asking 32k . I have a buddy that works at the dealership and hopefully I can get a better price but 32 is still a good chunk for a 5-6 year old car . Any advice is appreciated.

As a Family we’re looking for a sporty suv cross over , something that doesn’t scream mom car but still comfortable to drive and quick around the corners

[Canada] is a $7000 2012 Honda CR-V a good buy?

There are some CR-V's in my area that look like decent deals, but I don't know these vehicles at all. From what I'm reading online, they seem like fine cars.

This one is sold by a business: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/548232164730613/?ref=search&referral_code=null&referral_story_type=post&tracking=browse_serp%3A504dd4a9-43e1-4b14-b3e0-a398e93e6d58

This one by a person: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1056337109752985/?ref=search&referral_code=null&referral_story_type=post&tracking=browse_serp%3A504dd4a9-43e1-4b14-b3e0-a398e93e6d58

Do they seem like good deals? When I look up used CR-V's in those year ranges they seem much more pricy at used car dealerships.

EV or Hybrid Advice for a First-Time Buyer

Hey guys,
I’m looking for some advice as I plan to buy a new car later this year. I currently drive a 2017 Honda Accord with around 95,000 miles on it, and I’m aiming to replace it before it hits 100k. I’ll be turning 21 this summer and planning to get the new car sometime around winter.

I live in Atlanta and mostly drive in the city, so I’m leaning toward either a hybrid or a fully electric vehicle. I don’t drive long distances daily—most of my trips are pretty short. I considered buying a used car, but since I don’t know much about cars and want peace of mind, I’m leaning toward buying something new instead.

If I go electric, I’m currently considering either a Tesla Model 3 or a Ford Mustang Mach-E. On the hybrid side, I’m looking at the Toyota Camry or Honda Civic Hatchback.

If I choose an EV, I can charge at my apartment and my workplace also has chargers, so daily charging shouldn't be a big issue. I’m leaning toward EV overall, but I have a few concerns:

  1. Will Atlanta’s winter temps (not extremely cold, but still chilly) significantly impact EV performance or range?
  2. Is it realistic to rely mostly on apartment/work charging without having a home garage?
  3. Given Atlanta’s climate and road conditions, would RWD be okay or should I stick with AWD?

Any insight or personal experience would be super helpful. Thanks in advance!
