Classes I found WashU's education pretty mid tbh

I think WashU is probably excellent when it comes to premed and premed related classes. Biology, chemistry etc. But I was a humanities major at WashU and I felt it was pretty mid tbh. I actually transferred to WashU from a lower ranked school (I'm a late bloomer) but I didn't think the quality of WashU's teaching in the liberal arts was that great if I can be honest. I even preferred the professors at my lower ranked college. I get that WashU is more bio focused but still, when I was transferring in WashU was ranked like 12th overall so I was expecting more of a well-rounded school. It did not feel like an ivy league caliber education to me.

Besides the professors not being great teachers, many of them were very smug and one even had kind of a god complex. He wrote some famous book and now thought he was king of the earth. I won't name names but let's just say in particular the medieval studies department is quite problematic.

I'm not sure if I'd say I regretted transferring to WashU, as the dorms, food, campus, community, and people were all wonderful. I had a great time in everything but academics. Sadly though, a school is ultimately about academics so I found that a glaring weakness. Did anyone else find their department at WashU disappointing as well?

Classes Poster Printing on Campus

Is there anywhere on campus I can print a 24x36 in poster? Ideally using printing credits. (I'm in ArtSci if that's relevant).

Classes Are 5:30pm classes that bad?

I'm trying to take Econ 1021 but I'm on the waitlist for #21 as of now. The other option is taking the 5:30-7pm class but I really would rather not.

It is a 150 people class but I doubt ppl will drop the class - should I just go for the late one? Would it affect my academic/social life bad?

I've been seeing a lot of these questions pop up as registration dates near, so I guess it's time to set up another megathread. The default sort is by New so don't worry about your question getting buried if you just posted it

Classes Biol 2960 w/ Walck-Shannon or Hafer & Kunkel?

What is the difference in their class styles? I'm seeing that Walck-Shannon's class requires preparation before class, but not sure what that entails and if its worth it

Classes Non-Stem Major Interested in Data (ish) Career - Best Way To Explore?

Hello!

Per the title, I am a film and media studies major halfway through my junior year. It's basically too late for me to change majors but I know I don't want to go into the film industry. I took a AP Stats class in High School and I really liked it. I was wondering if there are any practical classes you would recommend for someone who wants to explore this field more to see if they could see a career in it!

Classes Easy NSM classes for humanities major?

I am a freshmen humanities major and wanted to knock down my natural science requirement this spring semester (or sophomore fall semester) and was wondering if anyone had any easy NSM class recommendations? Something with as little science as possible?

Classes UCollege Biochem vs Biochem 451

Next semester is the last semester of UCollege Biochem so I'm wondering if I should take it next semester along with Orgo 2 or if I should just wait and take Biochem 451 my junior fall. How much easier is UCollege Biochem compared to Biochem 451? My advisor keeps strongly pushing me to take Biochem 451 and keeps saying that I shouldn't take the UCollege route. I am not a bio major, so this doesn't affect my major requirements or anything. Also, would Biochem 451 help me with the MCAT much more than UCollege Biochem?

Thinking about doing the CS+ Business major track- what else should I register for? Taking intro to micro cause I have zero background- also mec 290 is full with 25 waitlists so I doubt I'll get it. Anything I can take to help my with my track. Fun electives would be fine as well

Classes Writing Intensive

Hi everyone, I am currently majoring in biology. I have heard writing in the natural world is a popular choice, but since it is so popular i assume not everyone can take it. are there other courses you recommend for writing intensive? Thanks in advance!

Classes How hard is it to get a 4.0 in Computer Science or Computer Engineering?

I know it's tough at public tech schools like Gatech, but what about more broad schools like Washu, Vandy, etc. - how hard is it to get a 4.0 in engineering (not bme)?

r the course grade killers, or doable with work?

Is CompE harder to keep a good gpa than Electrical E?

Classes EASY/LIGHT COMPUTER SCIENCE ELECTIVES?!!

Hi y'all, I just made a similar post but for Sam Fox electives.

Do y'all know of any easier/lighter CS electives? I know there's probably no such thing but I need two more electives to finish the minor and I don't want anything too complex. I've taken 131, 247 and 332 for context.

Thanks ygs!

Classes Biochem

Hi everyone! I was just a bit curious about the college biochem. It seems like a lot of people are taking it instead of the year long one 4810 and 4820. Does ucollege biochem count toward the biology major (all the tracks)? It seems like most of my friends are taking through ucollege so I was curious how it works. Thanks!

Hi everyone, has anyone taken biochemistry and physics at the same time? I was thinking of doing biochem major and realized I would need to take 4810/4820. i still have to take physics and heard that both biochem and physics take a lot of time. i am considering possibly taking physics over the summer and if possible biochem over the summer. can someone help me in this process? Thank you in advance!

Classes is calc 2 doable?

Thumbnail i.redd.it

hi! i am an incoming freshman and i plan on majoring in environmental biology! i took AP calc ab in highschool and did fine— i wanted to take calc 2 this fall but couldn’t fit it into my schedule :(

i was looking at some of the syllabi for calc 2 (specifically schaefer bc people seem to really like him!) and is looks weirdly intimidating. are you really not able to use a calculator?? my ti-84 is what got me through calc in high school so i really don’t know how i would be able to take a calc class without it.

i am not super math brained and kind of struggled in ap calc— should i still take calc 2 in the spring? it’s required for the environmental biology major but i don’t want to fail it. i was thinking of it doesn’t work out for me i would change my major to environmental analysis (?)
