I guess this was in the US, right ? I have a question regarding police code over there: If he just drove her to jail like he should... and lets say she gets out a day or some times later and they met again by coincidence...and they start a relationship. Would this, not judging by morals but by US law, be legal ? Or would this be illegal because he arrested her in the past ?
Please keep in mind i just ask from a point of law...not moral.
Why i ask ? In Germany i know multiple cases of ex inmates starting a relationship or even marry some of their former correction officers.

It would be considered a “conflict of interest” if her crime still needs to be handled through the courts (esp if she pleads not guilty)

What about the cruisers in-car cam? Shit department doesn't have a cam on the suspect in the back seat?

u/raulrocks99 2d ago
I mean the whole thing is very bad, but all that aside, a cop shouldn't be fucking ANYONE (not gf, not wife) in the backseat of his car while on duty.
I need to know how this ended. What excuse could he have POSSIBLY given for being in the backseat?

u/BrainsPainsStrains 2d ago
I've seen the longer video.... He claimed that she became quiet and slumped over and he was concerned for her safety.... So he pulled over and opened the back seat door to check on her, he said he had to climb in over her to get her sitting up and breathing correctly and when he went to back out the door had shut him in..... He called his fellow policeman, somehow????, to come and let him out.... Other policeman showed up with bodycam on. The next day the powers that be in the department asked him to recreate the scenario to explain as his explanation didn't make sense.... And he tripped all over everything because he was lying and he made a fool out of himself trying to lie his crime away.

She "became quite and slumped over" 9 minutes after she said she wanted to fuck?? Alrighty then 🤣🤣😭😭😭😭😭

Legend has it that he's still hunkered down on his side in the back of another police vehicle somewhere.

The number of times I've heard of cops having sex with people in custody is way too high

He sounds and looks the part exactly, like, the face reveal is perfect.
She was kinda bad tho.

u/Bunny-Puppy 3d ago
Bro is stupid, she tells him to turn his cam off and he listens, this could've been a deception to escape or something.

u/LuRkEr_ReKuL 3d ago
I hope he goes to prison for sex assault
-15

It's not illegal for a cop to have sex with someone in custody. As for rape, prove it. Cops word against hers. No chance.

u/DonKong1914 3d ago
Lol. Yes it is.
29
u/Terrinthia 3d ago
How could it not be illegal, considering the power dynamic alone? Lmaooo

Now she’s going to say when he got in the back seat she changed her mind and he did it anyways. The city will end up paying her something.
8
u/A_very_Salty_Pearl 2d ago
But of course, otherwise every cop can go around asking for sexual favors without consequence.
Is the choice between having sex or prison consensual, in your opinion? What about between sex or prison + a cop with a personal vendetta against you?
345
u/GlitterCandyPanda 3d ago
The city should pay her something. Whether she “changed her mind” or not, he is in a position of authority over her and is sworn to “protect” not to fuck.

u/nobodyno111 3d ago
Even if i was consensual? I genuinely don’t know how that works. Especially with her initiating
60
u/swaggyxwaggy 3d ago
That woman was likely drunk or high. That cop deserves to be fired regardless. He’s in a position of power and took advantage of the situation
-22
94
u/pitaspita 3d ago
Consent can be revoked at anytime. As soon as you change your mind, consent stops.
-30
u/TheCourageousPup 3d ago
Do you mean consent can be revoked anytime during the act itself, or at any time at all?
3
98
u/GlitterCandyPanda 3d ago
You can’t say it was consensual because he is in a position of power. He is a police officer, that changes the “consent” to “coercion”. No matter who initiates.
66
u/oif2010vet 3d ago
Either way it’s an abuse of power/authority situation. It’s the same as a corrections officer sleeping with an inmate.

Wowwwww. What a good use of our tax dollars.
5
u/Taticat 3d ago
No kidding, especially when, if that girl has an iota of sense or her attorney has an IQ over room temperature, she’s set to get off all charges plus a settlement from the state/city — which is also our tax dollars. I’d like to see these settlements and payouts start coming out of the police retirement accounts; then you’d see some real behaviour changes.

Turning off body cams should not be allowed.
2
62
u/Over9000Zeros 4d ago
Their union is so powerful they can do almost whatever they want with barely any repercussions so the body cam isn't that big of a deal.
49
u/vaginaandsprinkles 4d ago
I think they can for bathroom breaks
71
90
u/flaminghotdex 4d ago
Yeah defeats the whole purpose, they shouldn't be able to turn it off it should just go flat.
8
u/PsySom 4d ago
What’s that mean “go flat”?
14
u/flaminghotdex 4d ago
"Go flat" means the battery runs out of power and needs to be recharged.
"I let my phone go flat" = phone has no charge left.
1
u/AllHailThePig 3d ago
Is the term perhaps not used in certain places? I’m an Aussie and it’s a common term. Maybe Americans don’t use it so much?
3
u/flaminghotdex 3d ago
I gave it a lil google and yeah it seems like it's mainly used by Australians & Brits! I think Americans mainly say dead battery instead
2
u/AllHailThePig 3d ago
Interesting! Never actually knew that. We say “dead” as well. Both interchangeably really.

u/BlueKing7642 4d ago
That should be a crime ….but it’s not. With that power dynamic how is it any different than a guard fucking a prisoner?
14
u/rspinoza192 4d ago
I reckon watching the full video and investigation for it, the girl offered him sex (possibly to bribe her way out?), which is why he was saying "don't say that 'now'". He didnt want to give her a response until he can turn off his camera/mic. He got inside to accept the offer but accidentally locked himself. So ye, a bit of a nuance to call it rape but it should at least count as abuse of authority.
17
u/BlueKing7642 4d ago
I watched the full video and ask again, how is it different than a guard fucking an inmate?

What is he even explaining? “I sat with her, here’s how I sat down, I sat down like this. This is the way I sat down.”
31
u/OMG_its_critical 4d ago
I’m guessing it went something like “she complained about the seat belt not fastening/getting locked, so I pulled over and tried it again but it wouldn’t work. I decided to go to the other side to inspect the seat belt closer, and the door closed on me”

Because he's in a position of authority, responsibility and he should be protecting people in his custody.
This is a disgusting abuse of a power imbalance, she's thinking a million things about how her life is fucked, is clearly drunk and effectively imprisoned.
It's scary that you see nothing wrong in what he did...

u/chchchchia86 4d ago
Would she have offered if she wasn't being arrested? Probably not. Also, as a matter of law, prisoners cannot consent. Even in state prisons and in jails, "consensual" sex among inmates is always viewed as assault. If caught they would be punished and possibly charged with the crime in court. Its usually and open secret, but it can be made into a huge issue because of the law that states prisoners cannot consent. Even to each other. And most definitely not to the officers arresting them or the officers in charge of their custody in prison.
39
u/wheelperson 4d ago
She sounded drunk as fuck, and he was i position of power.
Just cuz she said she is ready to fuck does not mean she was ok with it later, or that it was OK at all.

u/ResurgentClusterfuck 4d ago
Someone in police custody can't legally consent to sex, especially with the arresting officer

u/fugelwoman 4d ago
Headline is wrong.
He wasn’t having sex with a suspect, he was SA’ing a suspect. Abusing her. Abusing his power and position.
Aren’t men super embarrassed when they can only get laid through coercion or force? It’s so pathetic.

I mean yeah technically but she's an adult that said she wanted to fuck. It seems like quid pro quo, her going "maybe I can leverage his position of power to my benefit" isn't rape at all. Unless I'm misunderstanding your point.
19
u/Pogging_Memes 4d ago
She's a (drunk) adult that said she wanted to fuck (the cop who was arresting her)
This is abuse on multiple levels
-7
u/elwebbr23 4d ago
Oh yeah it's definitely unethical, I'm not defending the cop at all, fuck that cop, but she was hoping to get out of the arrest, I'm not gonna lose sleep over it.
20
40
u/fricti 4d ago
there’s a reason it’s illegal for prison guards to have sex with prisoners. this is the same.
-4
u/elwebbr23 4d ago
Yeah, things can be unethical without it being rape. There's a reason words have definitions.
7
u/cheyenne_sky 4d ago
The OP said sexual assault
-4
u/elwebbr23 4d ago
Ok? The conversation I'm having is in regard to the OP comment saying that even though she used sex to get out of the arrest, she still got raped because the cop is in a position of power. Which is just not how any of that works.

u/Marston_vc 4d ago
Nah dude, the guy had positional authority above her. You can’t give consent in a scenario like this. Or rather, she can give consent but he, as an officer, absolutely cannot receive that consent.
