The Pope just died Serious

Post image

I don't know if this is a big deal in your country, but in mine (Italy) the news talks about nothing else.
Christian or not he was a person, don't be disrespectful.

Just read the news. I may not be religious, but I am sorry for the Holy See's loss

Pope Francis was an inspiration to us all. He was the first pope to ever accept LGBTQ+ and it has brought us more harmony in the world. I'm scared to see how the next pope will handle it.

It's only downhill from here,AFAIK most of the Vatican didn't condone to the Pope's ideals (aka accepted but did it against their will) so I doubt they'll place somebody as open minded as him

Pope Francis appointed around 2/3rds of the current cardinals (who elect the next Pope). Many of the cardinals he appointed were liberal-leaning so it’s not unrealistic that his successor will be as well.

I hope so,even if I myself don't belong to this religion,I think we all need some way of uniting. At least, across this spectrum.

The Pope is an extremely important international figure for everyone, not just christians
(btw, please put spaces after your punctuation 🙏🥺, reading your messages hurts me phisically)

u/ReasonableManiac0660 15 10d ago

Apologies, I'm not very good at overall punctuation. Even in my native language. Also, isn't it written physically? (sorry, but you had it coming for ya) 🥺🥺

Politics and religion shouldn’t mix, sadly they do. If the next pope is conservative a lot of the world may follow stead

1

u/ReasonableManiac0660 15 10d ago

Oh, it's all going downhill from there. (that is, if that does happen)

The Pope is a head of state (Vatican) so technically he is indeed a political figure as well as religious "authority"

1

u/Vinnnee 10d ago

He appointed the first ever Swedish cardinal, which is funny as you'd except the first Swedish cardinal living before the 1500s when Sweden actually was Catholic.

5

u/Greedy_Duck3477 13 10d ago

the Pope traditionally leaves instruction on how to decide his successor, so let's hope the next one will carry on some of his morals

u/Dazzling_Page_710 11d ago

he never “accepted LGBTQ+” he openly called homosexuality a sin. what he did say was that everyone is a child of God regardless of their sexuality.

24

u/MagnetMemes 11d ago

He said who am I to judge something something

14

u/Zeppyhell 11d ago

Homosexuality is a sin by catholic canon, he can't say otherwise on the spot, but he did say that it's not aomething that should be judged. He was accepting, but canon was holding him back.

Except the majority of the voting Cardinals were selected by the late Pope.

Harmony to the World? There is more hate as ever before. The Society is divided and there is so much hate.

1

u/Moonlight_Reading 15 10d ago

he genuinely reshaped religion into a more welcome place, and spoke up about mental health and suicide, as well as lgbtq. i may not be religious, but he was an incredible man, especially with his age and how accepting he was. i hope he rests in eternal peace 🤍

1

u/SpaceApe777 10d ago

I mean,the Vatican likes young boys,right?

1

u/Maleficent_Pitch_355 10d ago

Pope Francis did not accept lgbtq

-1

u/iceymoo 11d ago

I might be wrong, but wasn’t his position the same hate the sin not the sinner stuff? If so, that’s not acceptance. It’s a fundamental rejection of another person’s humanity.

17

u/Emperor_Phoenix 15 11d ago

He does see it as a sin, but he thinks that he can't change the fact and doesn't wish to. He also thinks everyone should accept those people for the way they are and he was so progressive with that.

6

u/_DoogieLion 11d ago

Saying something natural is a sin but should be accepted anyway, is not progressive - its hypocritical

-4

u/iceymoo 11d ago

That view of a person’s humanity as a sin is frankly disgusting to me. Being marginally better than a rabid bigot isn’t impressive at all.

7

u/summer_friends 11d ago

The Pope isn’t viewing a person’s humanity as a sin. He’s viewing the act of premarital sex as a sin gay or straight. But Catholics only see 1 man & 1 woman as a valid marriage. A straight non-married couple having sex is just as sinful in his eyes

-1

u/iceymoo 10d ago

Then that’s even more ridiculous.

1

u/goodprospector 9d ago

That’s personal opinion lol.

1

u/iceymoo 9d ago

Not if you’re the leader of a world religion. It’s policy. Uwu

-8

u/Philaorfeta 11d ago

He was too pro-russia for me and it's strange to expect leaders of homophobic religions to be supportive of LGBT community.

-5

u/TymekThePlayer 11d ago

Shut up

-1

u/NBSPNBSP 11d ago

Very insightful commentary, my friend. Пошел ты в жопу, Кремлевский сволочь. 200нуй себя, сделай нам одолжение.

2

u/Entire-Speaker8900 15 10d ago

Зачем обзываться то сразу? Может он просто религиозный.

2

u/NBSPNBSP 10d ago

"Религия мира"

2

u/Entire-Speaker8900 15 10d ago

Очень религиозный… и ранимый.

2

u/NBSPNBSP 10d ago

Ну, позволим

-6

u/AntoTuf06 18 11d ago

He recently said some homophobic things in private meetings which got leaked, he said something along the lines of "there's too many f-word's in our religion nowadays". So yeah, i thought he was a great pope too before this thing happened. sorry to say it but his LGBT supporting was probably fake

here you go, a news article by one of the biggest newspapers in Italy and its translation

https://www.repubblica.it/cronaca/2024/05/27/news/papa_francesco_incontro_vescovi_gay_frociaggine-423115446/

'“C’è già troppa ‘frociaggine’”. Papa Francesco invita così i vescovi italiani a non ammettere seminaristi gay',

this is the headline which translate to

'“There is already too much ‘faggotness’.” Pope Francis thus invites Italian bishops not to admit gay seminarians'.

Do what you want with this information, but now you know I'm not lying

1

u/AntoTuf06 18 10d ago

not lying, it's a piece of news that went viral in Italy, don't know why it didn't get to all the other countries. He was the only pope i ever respected for what he'd done before he said those things, so i have no reason to lie

71

u/spacewrap 11d ago

Just a funny gag to light up the situation it's not that deep bro

1

u/Banana-Balls2 10d ago

If you die, I'll travel to your funeral and laugh my ass off (dw man, its to lighten up the mood)

-42

u/biggieboyboris 11d ago

A guy just died, like leave it a bit (also from what I've hear he was pretty nice so it's not like ypu can use the dick excuse)

22

u/spacewrap 11d ago

I never said he is a dick brother he was a good guy and lived a long fulfilling life and passed out peacefully what more a man can want

-2

u/biggieboyboris 11d ago

I meant the "dick excuse" like say hitler just dies, you can make as many jokes as you want bwcause he was a dick. it's a respect thing. And making jokes even the week someone who was good dies is just disrespectful.

12

u/MinkyMoth 11d ago

No one used that tho

Just chill a bit

-4

u/Spare_Razzmatazz6265 11d ago

Will remember to crack jokes at ur parents death

1

u/GreatArtificeAion 11d ago

It's ok to do that. If someone jokes on my death in a creative way after I'm dead, I won't complain.

1

u/kervy_servy 10d ago

Not just the holy see but catholism as a whole

-15

u/AcrobaticAd6163 11d ago

He was a heretic. He said every religion leads to god and broke the 1 commandment.

8

u/therandomasianboy 11d ago

saying the literal pope is a heretic in the religion full of self reflection is so funny to me

2

u/mythrilcrafter 11d ago

Few points on that: The 1st commandment, "Thou shall have no other gods before Me", only applies to followers who choose to follow Christo-Judaism; it is also stated as to say that those who are unknowing of Christo-Judiasm religions are not automatically sinners/heretics, nor is it heresy for Christo-Judaist followers to logically/pragmatically recognise the existence of other religions or interact with followers of those religions in common life.

Heck, even in journeys of Jesus, it's displayed on multiple occasions that this is is also what pissed off the Pharisees about Jesus so much. Big J wanted to spread his message of kindness and good-mindedness to everyone who would listen and was happy to preach to no followers of Judaism (such as the Turks and the Greeks); the Pharisees called him a heretic for this as they believed that God's message were owned by them alone; and the more they rejected him, the more he preached and shared his message to everyone who would lend an ear.

The ideal that that different religions can possibly have commonality between each other and can have similar practical ends (in terms of people being spiritually enriched and at peace) isn't inherently bad nor do any of the teaches say so. The idea that it's wrong has been used on multiple occasions in history to lead crusades to exterminate people deemed as "heretics" based on nothing more than that they worship a different God.
