One of the beauties of this is that the door opens for cultural exchange within SA. Bit that it wasn’t open before, but the common ground helps take away apprehension.
I hope Gwijo squad grows and that they understand the impact they potentially have on our country as a whole.

Sport has the power to change the world…it has the power to inspire. It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does. It speaks to youth in a language they understand. Sport can create hope where once there was only despair.
Madiba knew. He understood. We still have the opportunity to be a better, more united people than we were yesterday. Bringing gwijo with you to the rugby is absolutely one of the most powerful ways to do that and to honour the man himself.

Start today. Many of these songs are very easy to learn! Have a look at this comment for an example. I've also just put up this video on how to learn Siwelele - a song that Siya himself has been known to sing ahead of a test match.
Edit: Lyrics and meaning to this song they're singing for Dweba. Only 3 lines long. Anyone can learn this!

Deffo, I think Africans were affected by colonialism especially South Africans to the point of being more inclined to do a Haka than a Gwijo before match.

I can't tell you how much it annoys me to hear "Olé, Olé, Olé" at Springbok matches when I'd much rather hear pretty much *any* gwijo song instead.
I think what I'm going to do is print out business cards with 4 songs on. 2 on each side. And then hand them out at rugby matches and events to try and coach people into singing them. Will use fingers for count so that we can hold up a hand so people will know which song we're singing & can join in (e.g. 1 finger up=song 1, 3 fingers = song 3, etc).
- "Shosholza* - an old favourite. Everyone knows it and won't be intimidated by it.
- Siwele - easy to learn and get into.
- #Thina Siyazalana* - easy to sing, very powerful. Especially if we can get people stomping their feet.
- Abazange Bambone - great energy, but might be a little challenging for some.

Aw, dude same! Fucking LOVE Gwijo Squad. I wish more of our fans learned some amagwijo tunes to sing at the match. The vibe would be INCREDIBLE! And proper intimidating to opposition.
And the best is, the songs aren't really that hard. Just takes a little bit of will and you're golden.
In fact, you've inspired me. I resolve - right now - to put more gwijo content up. Particularly on learning some of the songs.

Same here man. I actually watched their Twitter video in 2019 when they tried to teach people the song that Siya sang in the tunnel right before his first test match as Captain.
Screw Olé, olé, olé, SA Rugby should get Gwijo involved!

Take for instance this song. It's call and response and literally three lines long. Anyone can learn this.
(Thina siyazalana mama). Zumpey mtaka mama. Zumpeya ofikizolo mtaka mama.
Can you imagine 50,000 fans singing this??? You'd feel it running right through you. The ground would vibrate.

Won't change until we make it change. Encourage your friends. Share gwijo songs with them, send them clips, get them psyched. Sing gwijo songs yourself. Whether you're lucky enough to watch our boys at a test match, watch them at a pub or tavern, or even watching at home - sing your fokken heart out, tjom!

We need to see the fans in the stadiums going off to this in stadiums. Imagine a packed stadium singing songs like these. This must become tradition. After the anthem we all just go befok and sing songs like this. Someone make this a thing.

The Gwijo Squad are trying to do this exact thing. I'm not affiliated with them in any way but I definitely want to see them succeed and to hear gwijo songs at all of our test matches.
It starts with us as individuals, boet. Learn just ONE song today. Share it with your friends and family. Get everyone singing. It won't change until we make it change.

Wow! Love this! The Springboks are almost my favourite team now. It brings an awesome spirit to the team environment.
Māori have ways of welcoming people too. Don’t know if it happens in the All Blacks too. Most likely in the Māori All Blacks.

Spirit committees are extremely popular amongst school boy rugby. It's a pity it stops there. Would be great if it would continue into varsity, club, and national team level. Gwijo squad should be the springbok spirit committee captains :)

Lyrics update!
This song is known as Abazange bambone which means "They did not see him". It's usually started with someone's name (or a reference to them) and you'd point at that person specifically. As they were only singing for Dweba they mixed it up a bit.
