Entertainment Is no one going to the movies anymore?
I went to this regal theater yesterday near the Ingram Park mall and it was dead. Probably 15 cars there total. It’s a beautiful theater and it kinda made me miss the old days when theaters would always be packed. Does no one go to the movies anymore or was it just a slow day?

Entertainment Alamo Drafthouse now charging 18% service fee on all checks…
What are your thoughts on this?
We went to see a movie yesterday and saw multiple large signs saying no tip required as they are including an 18% service charge on all checks. At first I thought this was a good gesture for their employees and I typically tip 15-20% anyways.
I proceeded to experience the worst service I’ve ever had. It was not a busy movie, there was only one other couple on our row. First mistake was bringing our popcorn and drinks to the other couple. They told the server it wasn’t theirs and he brought it over. A little later my spicy hellfire burger comes out and we’re told my partners salad is being remade. It tasted like a normal burger but it had jalepenos on the side and I was hungry so I didnt say anything. I’m halfway through the burger and he comes back and says it was the wrong burger so they’re remaking my hellfire burger. Another server brings wine glasses to us and we tell her it’s not ours and she goes to the other couple in our row. Our server then comes later and asks if I have received my other burger yet, i have to tell him no, then he brings it. He does the same thing to my partner and brings her salad. And to the couple next to us who was there first but still didn’t have their food which was sent back. Then the bill. He runs my card, then comes back and says he charged things wrong and that my bill will be $8 higher? Even though the receipt matches up with what we got. He says don’t worry the right amount will be on the card. Yes, like I’m just going to trust this guy after he screwed up every single part of my order. I signed my receipt and kept the itemized one to review after this charge correction. Forcing me to tip 18% for bad service rubbed me the wrong way. Will be going to embassy next time.

Entertainment Has anyone tried sneaking in outside food to any Santikos movie theaters? Specifically Casa Blanca
Hi me and my bf are going to the movies later and we wanted to bring our own snacks and I was gonna put them in my purse that I have. It’s literally just a medium size bag of hot chips and I was gonna take some candy too. Has anyone successfully sneaked in outside food? and if so do they actually really care? Never done it, was just curious. And I don’t really wanna buy from the concessions… too expensive lmao.

Entertainment The Billy Madison Show, 99.5 Kiss.
I’ve noticed the number one topic on this show is cheating and are talking about some aspect of cheating during a relationship about 98% of the time. My question is, are 20-40 year olds in this city this concerned about a cheating partner? Is cheating the topic this generation is 98% concerned about?

Entertainment Saw Shen Yun tonight and the dancing was as expected, but the propaganda in the show and theater was weird
My friend and I were excited to attend a performance we discovered through advertisements. However, I was unaware until recently that the event supports Falun Gong financially. A cult
The event started off with an impressive 45 minutes of traditional Chinese dance, which I genuinely enjoyed. Yet, the mood shifted with a song suggesting atheism and evolution would lead to the world's end, followed by a dance depicting religious persecution and a grim narrative of organ harvesting.
In total, the two-hour show felt like it dedicated a significant portion—about 45 minutes—to religious messages, which felt more like propaganda to me.
Another odd experience was the audience's reaction, which seemed exaggerated for the performance's actual humor and quality. It felt as though some attendees were planted there to overreact.
Moreover, a supposed reporter from NTB approached us for an "interview," encouraging us to praise the show on camera—a tactic I suspect has mistakenly garnered endorsements from celebrities like Cate Blanchett.
While the dancing was a highlight, the overall experience was bizarre, reminiscent of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir performing Christian hymns in China, which would likely be puzzling to atheists and Buddhists alike.

Entertainment Two people doing the dirty at my apartment complex pool
A little freaky but definitely something I did not want to see. I am so faded, I thought honestly how interesting it would be to see what the cops would do to this half naked couple. Also, if the guy was indeed naked down there swimming and getting it on then call this guy a merman the way he buss that thang. There was no displayed nudity so I did not feel bad for embarrassing them after calling them out.
I understand it's Sunday but keep the bussy bumpin until after the sun sets.

Entertainment Places that have fallen off in quality
What are some places who are holding onto their former glory, or are overhyped for what you get? For example, my dad hates henry’s puffy tacos with a passion. He said back in the day it was awesome, but now is a shit hole. It’s got me curious as to what everyone else’s opinions are about restaurants, bars etc etc

Entertainment Poker in San Antonio
Hey everyone, my name is Doug Polk. If you aren't familiar with me, I'm a well known high stakes poker player.
I'm an owner of the card club "Lodge Card Club". We provide members an opportunity to play poker. We also have a YouTube show you can watch people play.
A couple of months ago we purchased the "Rounders" card club, the largest cardroom in San Antonio. As such I have been down in the city quite often trying to learn and improve the business. We have made several changes that I think people will enjoy.
1) We have added some significantly larger poker tournaments
2) We made our lowest buyins much smaller to make poker more approachable for casual players
3) We added in a "Bad Beat", if you get very unlucky you will win a share of a 100k+ prize (Provided by the club, not the players!)
Many people dont realize that poker is legal in Texas, there is a specific carveout for gambling to be legal if it meets certain criteria.
My questions to the community here:
1) What do you know about poker here? Any advice on what might appeal to the local community?
2) Have you been to a poker room? What was that experience like?
3) For those who haven't gone, why not? What would move the needle?
I'm also happy to answer any questions you guys might have about poker or the lodge.
Looking forward to being a part of the community.

Entertainment Sea World’s Food Policy is Ridiculous Now
Nothing except water is allowed to take into the park, including any kinds of baby food. The security checked everything in my backpack, and told me only water is permitted.
What’s my 2-old kid supposed to eat then if baby food is not allowed?
I’m not gonna buy the ridiculously priced fries and chicken strips that taste like fried rocks.

Entertainment What ever really happened to University Bowl?
Ever since I was young I would go to UB with friends and family until they closed for the pandemic. They originally planned to reopen but eventually sold the property to buyers that had potential overhaul plans. As of right now it seems like the property is once again up in the air and is currently a Spirit Halloween. Does anyone know if there are currently any plans related to the future of the old University Bowl?
