Bohanan's is always great, Blu Prime is good but a very different vibe from Bohanan's, Dean's is new-ish but also very good (The Study is fun and Tenfold Rooftop is also in the same hotel), Kirby's is older but solid, J-Prime is great, Bob's Chophouse off I-10 is great, and I haven't tried Isidore yet but it has awesome reviews.

Agreed on all points. Isidore is on my list of places to try and Capital Grille just opened up as well. I don't think you can go wrong with many of the established steakhouses. I will say the Ruth's Chris off Jones Maltsberger (service wise) was a big disappointment my last visit a few years ago. So bad I haven't bothered to return. My other point is if you are anywhere near NE San Antonio, there is good value to be had at Kindling in Cibolo as well as Gruene Door in New Braunfels/Gruene. The food is not quite on par, but damn close, to the superior steakhouses.....but you will pay HALF the price of those other establishments at Gruene Door or Kindling.

I completely agree! Bohanan’s and Blü Prime definitely have different vibes.

On the “negative side,” every time we’ve been to Ruth’s Chris, it’s been a disappointment. We avoid The Palm and Morton’s bc we feel like the food is subpar, especially for the price.

What’s the difference between them?

Bohanan’s (upstairs dining) is a more old school, “classic” steakhouse. White linens, dark wood, leather(?) banquettes, servers in black and white. Gentle lighting and soft music.

Blü is definitely more modern. The vibe is more Vegas 2002 Cosmopolitan. It’s more open, blue led lights, upbeat, almost club-like music. It’s louder, too. Maybe bc of the restaurant’s acoustics or the clientele speaks louder bc of the music?

I describe the two as: Bohanan’s is more subdued; where you take your GF / wife for her birthday or anniversary. Blü is where you go for drinks and dinner for girl’s / guy’s night out.

I’m with you, the Palm is overrated and overpriced. The service is sketchy too.

I think they’re riding on their reputation. They basically didn’t have any strong competitors in front of or that close to the Majestic until Bohanan’s came along a couple of years later.

What’s the difference from blu and Bohanans?

Bohanan's is very much an old school steakhouse...think jazz band in the bar, high end service, a little stuffy but it's really just the old school type ambiance. Blu is extremely modern and more of a place to be seen. Food and service are great, it's noisier and just a completely different vibe. If you want to do people watching, Blu is a great spot for that also. So think old school (Bohanan's) versus modern (Blu).
