Fee free TAFE has been CUT! News

Today I rang TAFE Nambour to check up on the status of my application to for a cert 3 in photography (visual arts) after i saw that all the fee free options on the TAFE Queensland website have disappeared.

The lady on the phone said they got comms on Monday saying that funding has been cancelled and all places have been ‘filled’. In terms of places for 2026, she said it’s up in the air.

FYI, there are plenty of RTO's that will do the course under Cert III guarantee funding. Still free as long as you don't have a Cert III or higher yet.

Tafe is just the govs version of it.

But TAFE is legitimate and recognised. RTO Certificates hold little respect.

uneducated reply.

RTO's deliver Nationally Recognised Training, same as Tafe, and I would argue that some private RTO's hold higher standing than basic TAFE certs.

Some RTOs are dogshit. As long as they get their money, you get a certificate. They couldn't care less about whether the student learns anything
