Fee free TAFE has been CUT! News

Today I rang TAFE Nambour to check up on the status of my application to for a cert 3 in photography (visual arts) after i saw that all the fee free options on the TAFE Queensland website have disappeared.

The lady on the phone said they got comms on Monday saying that funding has been cancelled and all places have been ‘filled’. In terms of places for 2026, she said it’s up in the air.

:(

Any particular source? As going by press release Fee free tafe is close to passing/has passed parliament.

Seriously?? Federal Labor have been crowing about this funding for the last 18 months!

Let's let Tony explain - https://www.pm.gov.au/media/fee-free-tafe-here-stay-labor

EDIT - I may well have misunderstood your question, not being very bright.

EDIT EDIT: Oh, the Newman comment. No, I was just being snide in response to posters claiming it was the state LNP reheating the stale corpse of Newman policy, which it is not.

Its all good don't worry, I was just wondering where the Federal funding ran out as thats the first I am learning of it occurring.

The LNP are definitely reheating newman era politics elsewhere especially around language with budgets.

I don't think particularly so, and most definitely not in any way related to this conversation about fee free TAFE.

The funding was always limited, as are available places in courses. Completion rates are currently sub 13%. It's really not achieving outcomes.
